    Stable Update 1.19

7 years Alpha, one month beta, 2 years release, the days of being fair were over years ago.

    Stable Update 1.19

SO an announcement came out the other day that BI was asking the community what new hats people wanted to add to the game. I never thought the day would come that they ran out of ideas for new hats. Vehicles still broken. Server exploits still prevalent. Hackers and cheaters literally everywhere. ESP still a problem with non-admins. Trees and bushes that still magically stop bullets... AND BI WANTS TO ADD MORE HATS! Why am I not surprised?!?! Dear DayZ Santa I wish you guys would fix vehicles after waiting over 4 years. Everytime I look under the tree for vehicle fixes, I see a lump of coal in the shape of a V3S. All I know to do is to set it on fire to mimic how much it is worth in the real game since the latest patch. Would it be possible for any of my sniper weapons to be able to penetrate the branches of all trees and bushes, even if the trajectory goes awry, you know, like in real life? Also, is it within the realm of possibility you could secure your server database so an 8 year old cannot hose it with free tools on the internet? I would have thought a multimillion dollar company making a game for the last 9 years could manage these tasks. It's doubtful. Maybe the magic of Christmas could be real for once. PS DayZ Santa, you don't need your sleigh this year, just choose any vehicle on any server, it will eventually launch you into the sky better than Rudolph ever thought he could.

    Stable Update 1.19

So how is it exactly that ARMA 3 and hell even PUBG have better vehicle systems using the same Internet Connection. Both are open world simulations to a degree and the vehicles just work. DayZ's current vehicle simulation is not exactly all that great, certainly not really any better than what we had in the 1.18 and earlier patches... it just fails to work differently. The overall experience WHICH INCLUDES THE VEHICLE SIMULATION is piss poor at this point. That's all MOST gamers care about, can I drive a car reliably without getting killed continuously? If the answer is no, then it's failure, it's very simple.

    Stable Update 1.19

Shame on you for pointing out the obvious. You should know better, BI can do no wrong. Check the attenuation on your crappy internet connection. Something is obviously wrong on your end, if you are not enjoying the flawless masterpiece bestowed upon us mere mortals worshipping at the feet of the almighty BI.

    Stable Update 1.19

RE: M3S That is something I have been wondering about as well. It was just getting semi-usable, then BAM, 1.19, ruined it. I never noticed the reverse issue, it's been hard enough driving cars forward for the last 4 years, I was hoping you were going to tell us that driving cars in reverse works beautifully, and we've been doing it wrong all this time. I fully expected you to say that. But alas, imagine my non-surprise that they drive terribly in reverse as well. Oh well, the smart ones on here say it's all because of your piss poor internet connection. Shame on you for not being Elon Musk rich and having an OC3 connection straight to the Internet. You're a bad person, get money, none of this is BI's fault.

Nothing to see here folks... cars are working AOK!

    Stable Update 1.19

he's had an account since 2019, he's either not paying attention or a troll. He sounds like a bit of both. Bottom line, the vehicle experience in DayZ has been crap for 4 years now and no sign of real noticeable improvements YET. Changes have been made, but they have not changed the overall experience. If it is supposed to improve things, it has yet to manifest.

Game realy needs it. 5 digit combination lock. Why?

Indeed. The vanilla game could use a codelock. I know on every server I admin, the codelock mod is essential, even use it for a bit of storage as well. But I also have a specific raidsaw that can be found very rarely on our servers that you can use to cut a lock. It's all about balance.

    Stable Update 1.19

I honestly think this guy is trying to be a smarmy troll. No one can be that dumb to think vehicles are just amazing.,. no one. Not even BI.

Sleep well, have good dreams. I'm happy you are content with a broken vehicle system.

I'm right there with ya. Running Coax, clamping BNC connectors and playing tiddly winks while the networking round robin roulette works it's slow magic.

    Stable Update 1.19

Oh wait... @TheSzepy said it was all due to shit servers and poor ISP management. Surely, you aren't suggesting that there's something wrong with their code implementation.... <GASP> THE HORROR! according to @TheSzepy BI can do no wrong! I mean, we've been tracking terrible car implementation for YEARS, and this is only the latest iteration, but @TheSzepy says cars are working fine. One thing is for certain, I'm glad he doesn't code for BI because all we would have is a tire and a sparkplug and a dream.

    Stable Update 1.19

Never ceases to amaze me how ignorant people are of the history of the company and it's products. Arma 3 was released way back in September of 2013, and only became an actuable playable game with truly fantastic missions in late 2018. I played every publicly released iteration, ran more servers than I care to admit. The development eventually got better. With DayZ, since 2014, I still have a load of poop in my left hand and looking at my right to see if something ever appears... Fall 2022 status update: nope

    Stable Update 1.19

Hardcore aspects were toned down or removed due to the console money and FOR the console money only. None of that happened until Tencent gave BI money, that is a cold, hard fact. The game suffered to include console players. The facts are clearly laid out in this forum and on Reddit. The player controller was thrown out and rewritten so XBOX and Playstation Controllers would work properly... period.

    Stable Update 1.19

I spent part of last weekend playing DayZ on both XBOX and Playstation... now I'm really not trying to be a dick here, but you console folks. Seriously, just, seriously, how do you play this game? I have seen bad ports before and while DayZ is not a bad port in the traditional sense, it is awful regarding controls, and server environment. Oh my God, it is absolutely terrible. Not only that, the servers you guys have to play on are pretty much pure dogshit. I mean full blown, in your face, greasy dog crap. We tried to find a car, but all I saw was some unfortunate soul flying in the distance. Par for the course. It doesn't surprise me that BI gets away with this kind of crap, but it does surprise me that the console folks do not have pitchforks and torches out. Maybe they don't know how great the game can run with good server hardware.... I don't know, but the waiting on buildings to load in is just awful. The lag, and I was on fiber at the time, is horrendous, we played 8 different servers on both consoles and it was lag city. Went over to PC and it was buttery smooth on an official vanilla server. I then switched to a community owned vanilla server and it was even better, of course, I knew that already, but hey, I wanted to my friends to see what they are missing. But the controls on both XBOX and PS are as good as they can be with a controller, I guess. But this game was never meant to be played this way, it is obvious. Console guys why are you not rioting in the streets?

    Stable Update 1.19

You can disagree, but it absolutely was the unspoken reason. The game would not work on consoles without the player controller being rewritten. That's when the game became VERY arcadey and lost a good portion of it's hardcore feel. Not to mention, the constant meddling with reducing damage by ballistics, I could go on and on. The game was never meant to be played on consoles or by console gamers. Tencent threw some money at BI and now they needed to bring the game to consoles to make the Chinese businessmen happy. But to keep the console folks happy, they had to make it a little more like PUBG in some aspects so they could drop in and out of the game as they felt. It was too hardcore for that audience. The player control fix was the excuse to dumb the game down for consoles. DayZ fans were lied to. I understand that is my opinion, but it's not just my opinion. At the time most fans picked up on it, Reddit and this forum was full of people pissed that we had been duped.

    Stable Update 1.19

A lot of people think I come here just to bash the devs and that is it. I actually LOVE what this game could be. It could be the best game of it's niche. But unfortunately, the decisions from the BI execs have done waaaay more harm than good, and some of the most mind-numbingly dumb development decisions that have been made... make this game an "almost" game. I simply call balls and strikes. BI has a way of striking out like no other game company I follow. It's the first game company I have seen that spent almost 6 years in Alpha, then suddenly went to a Beta release for 30 days, then went full release. That, in and of itself, was literally when the shit hit the toilet water. But the reasoning (lies told by BI)for the player controller was another HUGE debacle for the game. They literally dumbed a PC game down so the console folks could buy in. Yep, Tencent made damn sure of that. And they said it would make things better, yeah, for their pocket books and to make the game more approachable to casual players. Modding is literally, the only thing saving this game. It really is a damn shame that the modding community knows what the game could be so much better than the people who actually write the code for the base game. There's only so much modders can do, like they can't fix vehicle physics, and at this point, apparently neither can the developers. Look, again, I love the game, I am holding out hope for one thing and one thing alone.... that the developers will fix the things that really matter. Fix the vehicles, fix the damn server security exploits. Think outside the box and come up with a way to fix ESP/cheating for non-admins... that would be a HUGE plus. I was watching Fresh Spawns live stream today, and a hacker showed up on the server they were playing and took every gun from every player on the server, whether it was in their hands or on their back. Yep they took every weapon. 60 people on the server at the time and everyone except the hackers had their weapon taken. There is nothing more frustrating in an open world game with permadeath than cheaters. BI said their would be sanity checks, there are not, speed running hackers are literally everywhere on official. Basic database security was never implemented on the server, so you don't even need a DayZ client to connect to the server and push JUNK DATA into the database and destroy the server. The script children even made a very simple executable you can use to do it, or run a simple Python Script. and it's available for free for anyone to use. In any tech industry, that would be a fire able offense to just not protect the database resource. Yet BI just keeps moving along like it's no big deal.

    Stable Update 1.19

Vehicles are NOT FIXED. Sugar coat it any damn way you want. On our server with a server FPS tick rate of over 6000, we routinely see vehicles do what that humvee was doing. And btw, before someone says our server specs suck, we are running an 11900k with 32 gb ram and an m.2 drive. It runs at 5 Ghz across 8 cores, no hyperthreading. It runs ONE instance of DayZ. Server is new and we have 10 to 12 player regularly on it. I was driving an Olga, and for no reason, it started doing that wobbly thing. Server Tick rate was around 6200 at the time. My ping was 8 ms, because the server is in my home. Bottom line at this point, The new cars is basically the old cars with less immediate deaths. Death is coming in vehicles, you can bank on it. It's just slightly more a matter of time. This should HAVE NEVER been pushed to stable. My signature is still accurate!

    Stable Update 1.19

Again, welcome to DayZ development. Where the focus is on the new shiny gun or masculine hat. Nevermind, cars haven't been fixed in 4 years. Ballistics is an absolute shitshow. You STILL, (ie since the earliest Alpha (over 8 years ago)) can't shoot through certain trees and bushes. And a host of other things you shouldn't worry about, like hackers exploiting ESP for profit and fun, or the most rudimentary database security protocols were never implemented allowing ANY 5 year old to completely corrupt ANY server they feel like. Yes, isn't this great?!?!

    Stable Update 1.19

We are an older group of men and women that play together, I'm 50 years old, and I'm a part of a community of people that love these types of games. DayZ is our primary play. We are all sick of seeing the game stumble by stupid decisions, whether they be executive or from development. Many people consider DayZ the "Could have been great Zombie game." And sadly, with the ongoing way development half bakes patches, they are correct, or the fact that they or BattleEye can never get a true hold on cheaters. People need to know what the devs are doing and NOT doing and not through the filter of rosy press releases and blogs generated by BI. They can sugar coat bullcrap all they want, but the bottom line is, the people who have been playing and faithful know when they smell shit, and it should be called out. No disrespect, but taking a break doesn't really accomplish anything regarding the game, and I don't yell at the devs as much as I keep telling others about what the problems are and where we have come from. Some get their little "feelings" hurt. I really don't care, they need thicker skin and just admit that "Could have been great" is simply not good enough and actually talk to the community more openly, but more importantly concentrate on actually fixing the issues and testing them well before releasing them. What we currently have is the same old crap in newer clothing. I call that out as well. It's nice to get updates every couple of months, if the updates actually stayed true to the vision of the game and fixed issues, but time and time again, they either ignore serious issues, refuse to fix serious issues, or simply don't know how, and they just put in some new hats or guns to make everyone feel like they did something over the last 90 days. I'm seriously over that. Content is fine, but actual manifested fixes would be better and maybe, just maybe, this game CAN BE a great game.
