The Awesome Vehicle Thread

You know, the last couple of days I've been looking for the latest car flying videos to post here on Youtube and ALL I AM FINDING ARE HACKING AIMBOT ADS to purchase cheats for this game. I mean it is horribly bad the sheer volume of these ads that are showing up as of late. For God's sakes BI please get a grip on this! I can't even properly bitch about how bad car physics are because of all the hacks available for the game now! I search for "DayZ vehicles" , but you can use many other DayZ search phrases and select a filter of today and wallah.... nothing but hack results, good job BI and Battleye! -

The problem is BI has not published any recommended server specs based on player count. And what would the point be? After a dozen or so people join a server on damn good hardware, cars will fly, get a few dozen more and lag will become a thing in some scenarios and a few more will introduce the beginnings of bullet lag. And GOD FORBID a server operator doesn't restart every couple of hours when they are full pop. The server will be molasses in about two hours at 40 people. Driving a car at this point in time is SU-I-CIDE Standalone has been released for three years and it is still in beta form. Is this the best BI can do? I wish someone at that company had the balls to prove me wrong. -

Remember, we beta tested parts of Enfusion, and it doesn't look like we will reap a single reward for that. All we have is shitty car physics due to a really dumb early design decision to stop hackers (I laughed so hard while typing that sentence), half-assed survival and base building mechanics, and zed AI that is so lacking that literally looks like the least amount of effort was given and then everyone went on holiday. AND YET, here we are! Willing this game to somehow be BETTER. Begging BI to turn this good game into a game that deserves to be called the Grandfather of all Open World Survival games. The community I helped found was formed around THIS GAME. One or or two of us are even interested in DayZ anymore. We all played the original Mod and moved on to so Exile and and Epoch, but then Standalone hit and we loved it for a long while, but now, base building is so lacking in Vanilla, cars are an absolute shit show, and we pay 80 bucks a month for what I would consider to be a killer server dedicated server 8700K procesor 32 GB memory NVME drive and unlimited bandwidth on a very high speed connection, yet with a few people on the server, cars wig out, unknown lag during gun fights. It's just unacceptable. BI doesn't interact with the community anymore, they just tell us what they deem we need to know and walk away until the next update. And they still don't deliver on many of the critical issues they claim to be working on. Some of these community servers are paying $200.00 or more for the highest end hardware. That is insane. I played on Frostbite and spoke with the owner a few weeks ago, they have the finest hardware you can rent. The game tanks at half pop, and at full pop, forget it, cars are a crapshoot, and lag is a serious problem. Why does BI not fix these problems? Please not more hats or guns, fix the cars, make base building more varied and more effort put into it, make it a part of the end game even. Make zombies smarter or at least more varied in how they operate. The fact that they can still track you indoors without seeing you is the silliest thing ever at this point. And fix the damn vehicle physics, it's been three years, I mean wars have been fought and won quicker than this is taking. -

Derleth, I agree. BI doesn't have the balls to admit how screwed up this is. I'd have waaaay more respect for them as a company if they would just come clean and admit it's a ratnest, but also, what is the fix. Like you say, I don't believe they will put DayZ on the full Enfusion package until Arma 4 is there. I'd like to be wrong too, but considering I wasn't wrong in 2020 or 2021 about this issue..... If they truly cared, this would have been fixed a couple of years ago. Since it's inception, this game has only had potential, it's never really achieved what it's set out to be. Most players I know that love this game see the potential, that's what they/me want... for the game to live up to it's potential. NO OTHER OPEN WORLD SURVIVAL GAME HAS COME CLOSE PAST OR PRESENT. DayZ HAS that potential buried in it. IF only BI would capitalize on it instead of burying their heads in the sand. At this point it seems we can all go wish in one hand and shit in the other to see which gets filled faster. -

It will be interesting to see how cars will be framed by BI for 2022. They said they would make fixes in 2021. Turns out that was another broken promise. Will they rise to the occasion this year? The intended realism is just jaw dropping. -

Authentic Realism.... -
Anyone remember when DayZ was a fun game? Remember .55? It was a mess, but it was FUN! I remember the trains of cows running around, and Zeds just running them in circles. It was silly as shit. The weapons were unbalanced as hell. It was all about the shotgun! Later when vehicles were first introduced, they were pretty good. Now the game is just overly complicated, hit zones and bone systems. The whole addition of consoles to the mix and the controller change and moving vehicles server side, really took a lot of the fun out of the game. I recently reloaded up Arma 2 DayZ. Joined a wicked server with about 40 players and HAD A BLAST! It was FUN. Stupid fun even, vehicles actually worked. The graphics were terrible. Weapon usage was incredibly fun. yeah, shit glitched out from time to time, but that authentic DayZ feeling is still embedded in the soul of THAT game. Most of the survival mechanics we have now were not there, but that was not the point of the original DayZ. It wasn't about survival, it was about experiencing a game that was fundamental and raw. When Standalone was announced and eventually hit .55 it had THE Authentic feeling, even though it didn't even achieve parity to the Mod.

LOL. I have to agree, there are literally no funnier words on this forum about this game than "authenticity over balance". Physics in this game have almost always defied logic.

Hardware is a factor, but not the ONLY factor. Poor design choices made early on are more relevant to the problem at hand. -

All this talk about DayZ 2 as if DayZ is a complete game. As long as Vehicles continue to malfunction unannounced and regularly, this game is not complete. -
Why Valorant has better security
THEGordonFreeman replied to ZinMas 101's topic in General Discussion
At this point, if your game is going to rely on client-based anything, why WOULDN'T you use a Kernal based anti-cheat? They seem much better at stopping many cheats. But for DayZ, you have to stop ESP. ESP running outside of the game itself is HUGELY problematic, I cannot stress that enough. -

As has been discussed to death that is no longer accurate information. There are several but rare fully modded and fully populated servers that have few vehicle issues. I am actually looking into how these servers are configured and what kind of hardware they are running to eventually present some data to the issue. So far, the physical hardware used has ridiculous specs, 99% of servers won't run on this hardware because it is too expensive. -

Players work so hard for vehicles, they just don't want to give them up even when they are faced with ridiculously horrible odds of keeping their cars in running shape. Why is it OK for the physics to be broken and kill players and progression for no reason whatsoever? Why does BI continue to allow this to occur? -

Your description of the current situation regarding vehicles has earned you THE BEST QUOTE ABOUT VEHICLES IN DAYZ IN 2021 and also my beans. Spot on..... Also..... Also, I can't help but wonder if BI purposefully doesn't fix cars because of unfortunate, but funny moments like this... -
why is this game still broken?

I feel bad for the console plebes. You guys were snookered really bad. All that console money BI got, and THIS is the result. This thread exists, so future generations understand EXACTLY what they are getting into if they think about buying DayZ. -
So is this is now just another generic shooter?
THEGordonFreeman replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
Ive said it once, I'll say it again, Official servers are for console babies and casuals. Hardcore community servers are much better. Also, if nothing else, you could at least find a vanilla Namalsk server, it will be much more difficult to survive than the official servers. -

I never said I was some authority on these issues. I have software development under my belt. I host a couple of DayZ servers, and have been talking to the major players in the modding community incessantly over the years. I have worked under several software development methodologies like SCRUM and AGILE and during my career have led a number of successful software teams. Do I know alot about game development specifically... nope. Other than the fact that I am well aware that making open world games is an absolute bitch, I do not carry any game specific development knowledge. I know what my eyes see and what modders see first hand, and what I have experienced while scripting a few things for DayZ. I bring no specific knowledge to the table; however, neither do you, nor anyone else on this forum other than the devs themselves. So before getting your finger all pointy, pointy at me, you really should consider that you also fall into the same category as everyone else here.... we are giving our opinions and subjective anecdotes. If that's problematic for you, feel free to ignore me. -
That is a serious question. I don't know how the business relationship between Battleye and game companies work, but their product is pretty much crap considering the VOLUME of Anarchy and other Youtuber's videos clearly showing hackers within the game. ESP hacks are the big one. I know it's difficult, because it's used outside the game space and overlays onto the game, but it seems to me that if these Anti-Cheats were serious, they would offer a huge ass reward for anyone that shows them how to detect ESP usage. If you kill ESP in DayZ, 90 percent of the egregious hacking problems go away. There has to be a way to detect ESP being used on the local machine outside an admin mod from within the game. Why can't this be done?
-
Question: How do you know when your Anti-Cheat is not worth a damn? Answer: When content creators focus pretty much on catching cheaters in your game instead of making content about how wonderful your game is. There are now a couple of dozen DayZ content creators solely making videos about catching cheaters. The granddaddy that showed them the way is Anarchy. He has other gameplay videos and stuff from other games, but his bread and butter is catching cheaters in DayZ. It's really sad this is necessary and the game suffers for it. But like the current state of vehicles, BI doesn't seem to care.

Open world games area hackers paradise. Every open world game suffers from hackers unless they allow private servers, then you usually have to find a community with decent people who don't suffer from admin abuse. GTA V and RDR2 both suffer from ridiculous hacking, but with DayZ and PUBG and other shooter games, it's worse because of ESP. And moreso with DayZ because it is unforgiving and you start fresh, ESP kills player experiences especially on Official servers.
