    I can report a boar at 115 106 and a family of three deer in the area of 128 116 (highway E of Kamyshovo). I like the way animals react now (i.e. roaming and running), pity they get so stupidly stuck on the first obstacle they run into. And yeah, a headshot at 2 steps away won't kill them. Heat-map is one thing, but I have no doubt that if the animals are there, they must be present more often in the SE area. Maybe the hilly forests make it easier for them to spot you and run?

    If you mean that the clans get only stronger, I can't disagree. But I don't see that the presence of cars would bring lone wolves together, being one. All they're gonna do is compensate with server hopping, like I've done these days. Don't get me wrong, I shun any kind of abuse. I used to play only on private 1pp servers with day& night cycles (no gamma correction), like God intended. The last time I hopped servers was to set up rabbit snares to catch my first rabbit. But nowadays, I imagine that private servers have next to no vehicles available. Mobility begets mobility, as once a group has their first car, it's easier to get another. This way, as long as they drive carefully, a clan of five can strip a server clean of vehicles. And don't tell me that's realistic, I want to have fun, dammit. I stopped playing DayZ mainly because running is boring. We need to face the fact that with all that 'loot-die-repeat' action, DayZ can be at times boring as shit. I swear to God I have a lithium battery at hand just to block the 'W' button, solely for DayZ. If it's necessary in the final release, I say fuck this game. And I'm not being hypocritical here, it's really important to me not to hop servers... I guess that just driving a Lada is more important, after all. So until you invent a jetpack which runs on integrity, I'm gonna try and compete with clans for those sweet sweet cars. Or drop out and wait for more content (in this case, bikes), as I always did in the entire 2015.

    Word. I can already say that the bike will be my go-to option. Simple, stealthy, concealable. Add two pouches and I choose it hands down over all those RPG magnets. Why the bus came ealier is beyond me.

    After completing all four vehicles, I can say that the bus and truck are virtually next-to-useless now. The truck deals better with rougher terrain (as it's shorter), but has less power, too. Volga is great for roads, but can't navigate much more besides flat-ish grasslands (but we crashed it too early to know for sure). By comparison, I believe Lada Niva can reach 99% of the map and has great acceleration and maneuverability. Definitely the best car and the only one really worth the effort. I can't wait for playable car physics, I was a tad surprised that it took them six months for the bus to drive like this, but I'm looking forward for the final thing. I almost pissed my pants when I drove the entire map with the offroad in a blink of time (now I kinda find it hard to believe how much we were running). As much a game-changer as it gets.

    A couple of days ago I noticed the schwaBAM's server and knowing you're buddies, I happily hopped on. Unfortunately, the ping was killing me, I had less than 10 FPS all the time. However, if and when it gets better, I'd like to meet you in game, folks. I've enjoyed your stories, ENO75, back when you were with ZH overwatching Bere. In the meantime, take care there.

    I understand your point, Mercules, but I also tend to agree with OP and Whyherro123 here. I really, really understand it's alpha, but it doesn't make 10 FPS in Elektro any less frustrating. And speaking of content, for the past 6 months I've been coming back only for the new builds (all the two of them, 0.58 was very long there so you didn't lose much, GimmeBeans) to explore new content. And then I invariably drop out. I'm not exactly a PvP kind of guy, a part of which is low FPS - in Cherno/Elektro my toon is like a drunk. But I also miss more zeds - maybe they aren't exactly nightmare fuel, but they surely add to the tension somewhat. And I haven't run into any animals for months. I believe they're still bugged like in 0.58. There's no point setting up a base due to constant wipes. All I recommend and what I am doing right now is fixing a car, having fun with it and exploring new areas they added in the North but not only (changes to Bere, new vacation rest areas). Apart from that, all I do is patiently wait for the beta and yes, we're long overdue and much as I always defended the devs against the "gimme money back" folks, I'm kinda getting upset myself now. They spent 3-4 months on the cars which are next to useless now anyway, and what I'm really waiting for is more animals, diseases, all the survivor-related stuff. Survival game? A freshly spawned toon can literally puke food within half an hour of looting a small village. It's really a My Little Pony game with occasional PvP here and there. I want the 'energized/hydrated/healthy' status to be as rare as the Steyr Aug. And yes, I realize, understand and acknowledge that it's alpha. All I'm saying is 1) we should be going beta in 2 weeks according to the schedule, and 2) I find this alpha Chernarus a little boring, now in this alpha stage. I'm going back to look for a Volga and see you all in 0.60.

    are helicopter crash static or moving in 0.59?

    I didn't want to start a separate topic - what do you know about car spawns? I understand they're not static, either? I noticed a car this morning and though I can drive it in the evening but I think it was gone after the restart (little chance somebody took a wheelless truck from that backwoods place). Also, I'm interested in private servers. In 0.58, spawns were static and all the vehicles were quickly taken and hidden in the bushes. Does it still work like that? I prefer private to public servers but I also want to have some fun driving. I have this impression that destroyed or untouched vehicles do respawn, but need confirmation.

    Oh, is that what happens? My bus was brutalized by a bunch of zeds, so that must have been that. Zed-vehicle interaction is still super buggy, i.e. non-existent. They didn't even damage the tires, just did - something. Was shaking a lot.

    OK, I tried the new UI and have a few lame issues with that, can you help? First thing is, I can't see full info at the server list, it's cut off right before the player number. I figure it has something to do with the UI window size, but for some reason I can't change the aspect ratio. What do I do? Second thing - I can't find my way to the status. I noticed there is an option to display HUD via 'right ctrl+H' but it doesn't work for me. How do you see the status?

    Thank you, have my beans! My Ikarus got stuck on a curb in Stary Sobor (literally hanging on a 20m curb like it was a wall), I decided to leave it for good, came here and saw your clip. Immediately I logged back and after some 20 minuts of removing and attaching the wheels at random, I finally managed to nudge it enough to pull out. :D I need to try it, but what I can recommend as working 99% time is driving uphill on the 1st gear all the way up. Just be patient and hold that W, sometimes you go back a few meters but the engine eventually always manages to overcome it. I tried that with many very steep hills in the North and it worked like a charm (well, at 3km/h but still). The only hill I failed to drive up was the western approach to Stary Jar, a very steep area where I eventually fell into a precipice, drove out of it, tried and failed again, this time for good. But I can attest that the bus can do much more than meets the eye.

    OP, I haven't found the sedan yet but the offroad doesn't seem any better. I had all pristine tires and on the highway Cherno-Elektro I was on my roof after 5 minutes. Yeah, seems like I lost control at the 4th or 5th gear. I guess I didn't expect it after the truck and bus, both driving like a tractor. Funny thing, the bus seems to be unable to exit either Cherno or Elektro via the Northern route i.e. uphill, even via roads. I think you're kind stuck to that coastal highway. EDIT: I just read that everyone reports that the bus is useless. One more thing, where did you find your sedan? I'm currently doing something of a sedan hunt through Cherno suburbs, but so far the only vehicle I get to find is the bus at Novoselky. I don't the spawning chances are equally spread, so if you can direct me to your sedan spawn point, I'd appreciate.

    New vehicles - discusion

    Just got off my first bus, it's been great! First impressions: 1) The manual is clearly bugged, the number of gears it can go up or down is changing, sometimes a gear is changed for you, so often you don't even know on what gear you are (unless the game just didn't register my gear changes properly due to desync or what not; but the sound was there). 2) The Icarus can't make it even past medium hills, I was unable to go from Cherno to Nadezhdino or from Elektro to Staroye no matter what (although maybe that's the fault of the tyres, I don't know). 3) Tyres removed with that lug wrench sometimes disappear. 4) 62km/h seemed like top speed for my bus, although yet again maybe it was the tyres. Acceleration sucks like Helldogz says with Niva. 5) I got my bus in Novoselky; apart from that, I had no luck finding any kind of vehicle (I logged back only to drive so I hopped Svetlo like 10 times to find Niva, to no avail). Does it still hold true that people just stash their vehicles to use them as containers? Is the spawn location of cars set for servers like it was in 0.58?

    well, I never said it was my idea, in fact in Chernarus I'm finding evidence to the contrary (like the one I mention above), but I'm quite sure that's the 'official version'. You should find it somewhere on this board.

    I can't provide any links but I read many times here that we actually live days after the apocalypse. However, I find several things in Chernarus inconsistent with that statement, off the top of my head: 1) the charred buses in numerous towns which are clearly corroded (at least that's how I remember that). What, they were just standing there and corroding for months before the outbreak? 2) first and foremost, the broken fences around military sites. It's not true and not believable that such places would be run down because of the general situation. Poor country or not, you don't just crawl under a fence right behind some barracks. Authoritarian regimes don't care about money here, people may literally die in famines and the military would still be one of the last elements actually working (more or less). Think North Korea - one of the poorest countries in the world can field the 4th biggest army in the world. Of course it's backwards, but that's not the issue here - fences and concrete walls would be in fine condition.

    Like Pillock it. I suppose the animals will get complete overhaul some time in the future. Right now I fail to reliably hunt down any kind of game, even when going from water to water.

    I sprayed and ate 5 tomatoes and 5 peppers, no symptoms of poisoning. Maybe the chance is small but I doubt it since ingesting the spray poisons you at 100%. So I guess it's not there yet.

    I wasn't aware it was ever a thing. I was positive the only effect of the spray is when ingested, until the barrels arrived. Need to try it soon.

    Are you sure you can lace meat with some kind of poison? I don't think anything works at the moment. Otherwise most people would poison every possible fruit and water container. ;)

    Thanks for the tip, pilgrim, I'm starting to make first steps in survival (so far it was some navigation at orienteering events) and was looking for some kind of Survival 101! Beans for you, I'm definitely downloading it.

    It seems you got yourself either light or medium food poisoning, depending on the cooking (or not) and dice rolls. Remember that in 0.58 even cooked meat has a small chance of poisoning you. You're into half an hour (extremely lucky) to over an hour of water and blood loss. It is my impression that neither poisoning can be survived with normal play. You need to stick close to a water source, preferably a well as your chances of contracting cholera will be too big. A lot of food or a nice patch of pumpkins will be necessary. Don't go down below bright-green 'energized' and dark-green 'hydrated', otherwise you may not make it. Choose a secluded place as you'll be vulnerable, so if you're at Cherno, beat it to Pusta, from Bere go to Khelm. Good luck and don't give up on your toon! Unless it's kuru, of course, then you're screwed. And of course it was for testing purposes, you didn't even need to mention that. A wobo video for you:

    What changed with DayZ?

    I don't think that a survivalist game must mean recreating the "Amish Paradise". In fact, I imagine interactions will only increase once you give them some meaning other than fight. When you have a bad case of diarrhea and are willing to trade your Winchester ammo for antibiotics, that's when real and meaningful contacts can come to play. I remember at one of the first iterations of CLE (.53?), I ran into a high-pop private server which was almost completely barren. I swear I looted almost every building in Chernaya Polana only to find a hammer, a duct tape and an apple. This meant two things for me: 1) now I have an incentive to trade (usually I don't, because I neither particularly need nor can offer military issue and other stuff is abundant), 2) I don't really have to worry about KOSers, because even if you do have a gun on your back, you're very unlikely to have it loaded (I had several packs of various ammo and a bow, no gun). I sincerely hope this is the direction the game will take and as far as I read about it, it will. Spawned stuff must be super rare in order to force you to hunt/scavenge/trade, so you can expect it only to be seriously cut down. As SniperV says, survival right now is both undeveloped and unnecessary. If it doesn't stop being both in the final release, I will feel the devs have failed to deliver on their promise.
