  1. I have been playing on official (and un-modified community servers) for 11 years and I am not tired of it :)

Repair Buttstocks and Handguards with Epoxy

Aha. So you are saying it wouldn't work, thank you for giving us this insight. Is there no way you could reasonably/realistically repair most buttstocks and handguards in the game? If there is absolutely no way, then I think we should not be able to repair them. If there is a reasonable way survivors could do it IRL that works well enough, then epoxy putty could just work as a stand-in for the more realistic method. This way they wouldn't have to add multiple items and complicated methods for repairing buttstocks and could just say: "Epoxy repairs attachments, it makes no sense but good enough"

    Loot Spawns

I had the same thought! :) I am pretty sure it comes down to server performance. The devs have to limit the things happening on thw DayZ servers, because the server can handle only so much beforw it starts to lag / crash. They likely decided that since the server can only hande a certain amount of loot, they don't want to waste resources on items being hidden in hard to find locations, while draining server resources. One example was the somewhat recent millitary-watchtower loot removal. Nobody ever checked those, so the loot spawning there was dead weight. Even though those hidden loot spawns were a lot of fun to look for and very immersive.

    CHEATER PLAYER DROPPING HAND GRANEDE

This happens all the time on all official servers and has been for four years straight. Invisibility is a recent thing, but cheaters murdering you has been on an unacceptable level for four years straight.
  7. Making the logout timer 35 seconds (guaranteed life threatening gas poisoning) instead of 15 seconds (a cut or two). Would help a lot. I think if you log out in poison gas your character should die and not be allowed to disappear. You can always just instantly log as soon as the gas hits as a 100% safe strategy, it would be good if it's changed.

Idea for better code lock system?

I really dislike running back to a fight after dying, picking up a gun and shooting the guy who just killed you. Or people dropping their gear in a sneaky spot before going into a fight because they can come back from the dead to retrieve it, this defeats the purpose of the game and is really unfair against people who don't do that. My idea would be loooooooooooooong respawn timers. I'd like a server that only lets you rejoin after a day. Or a bunch of servers which ban you for a week if you die, so you can join another one and keep playing. Then we could also increase the time it takes for dead bodies to despawn 🙂 🙂 I love finding corpses that tell a story and give me epic loot surprises (pretty much impossible with the current 30 min despawn).
  9. I don't think it's ok to constanty loop an advertisement in the main menu of a game I paid for. I did not give you the twentyfour bucks ten years ago to be shown advertisements. If you (Bohemia) is unreasonable enough to leave the ad in-game, then please at least let people turn it off after a while. If you are still unreasonable enough to not do that, at least let people turn it off who already own the advertised DLC. The ad tells me that I own what is advertised, it say "OWNED" really big. Actually it probably means to say: GET OWNED WE PUT ADS IN YOUR FAVORITE (pay to play) GAME XD

Remove the advertisement from my paid product

I have and I am worried DayZ is headed down a similar path. ArmA 3 has advertisements for DLC everywhere. Wanna get in a car? "This is a DLC car, buy the Apex DLC if you want to get in!" Sometimes your whole screen gets overlayed with pulsing squares with the dlc icon. Bohemias newfound love and enthusiasm for DayZ DLC (this part I like) AND in-game advertisements (this part less) for the DLC, combined with how they handled ArmA III DLC ad spam worries me.

    Overhauling the infected

Yes millitary zombies should sometimes have guns :) And grenades :) :) Would make looting infected more immersive and exciting. The commander infected even has a hip holster which could hold a pistol.
  12. How I would change it: -More rare, maybe 50% -Sometimes any random spot can be hit, not just the pre determined towns and millitary bases This would shift the implication from: There is a dedicated untouchable, invisible millitary NPC force out there interacting with us, but we can't interact back. To: The world has ended and once in a while an old unmaintained weapon system missfires, an unmanned automated weapon from the initial days of the apocalypse sometimes goes off. To me the gas is simply a small annoyance. Dying to it is almost completely avoidable, and because of how pre-determined and predictable it is certain base / camping spots have to be ruled out by players and metagaming is encouraged. It is mostly a small annoyance. Making it more rare and randomising the impact zone would make it less annoying and more spectacular. It's more impressive when you get surprised by something you can't predict have rarely experienced, than something annoying happening with you already expecting when and where it hits.
  13. I have had very similar thoughts :) It both takes away and adds atmosphere though. :) :) I love the lonely, actual END of the world vibe. No police, no army, no government, just you and your fight for survival. And then rarely you run into others you have to deal with on YOUR terms, without any restrictions or NPC interactions. A high tech well organised millitary NPC program (the force systematically launching the mortars to kill infected) gives me the feeling: Don't worry, outside of chernarus all is well and the millitary is taking care of it. You are not so lonely, and the world is far from having ended. I try to explain it away. It's an automated system, the people running it are long dead and once in a while it does it's thing. Or there are mortars sitting somewhere and once in a while a zombie bumps into the trigger xD I don't want ANY human organisation outside of players in-game to actively affect us. The dynamic mortar strikes and helicrashes are a good compromise though. I love the absolute violent terror. *Everything is RELATIVELY fine* *PFRRRRT BOOOOOM!!!!!!!* OH MY GOD MY SKIN IS MELTING! *Pukes out all the blood and dies* xD The downside being the less lonely feel, which you can kind of explain away like I said above. If they were more rare it would also help the atmosphere in my opinion.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

I totally agree with all except the covering fire making you scared. In ArmA 2 DayZ mod I think getting shot at completely drained your stamina. I have no opinion on this. Add it or don't :) More realistic scope behaviour would be cool. More realistic and more immersive. I have made posts about "the gun shoots whenever you pull the trigger" before. We actually used to be able to shoot in full sprint, while F3 sitting, while falling, while jumping, while the gun was lowered and you were emoting (flipping off, greeting, pointing). None of it useful but extremely fun and realistic. That would be one of those "wow" effect features which make DayZ stand out, and would add all kinds of fun / insane / memorable moments.

    bipods? machine guns?

DayZ had Bipods for the mosin, Ak variants and the M4. Lying down with a bipod deployed would almost remove recoil. The PKM and M249 machineguns have been in the game files for almost ten years. The producer of DayZ even made a post discussing the planned addition of the PKM years ago. My estimation is: Bipods and machineguns are a bit more work game design and "balanceing" wise so they have been dropped or keep getting pushed back for easier additions. I strongly hope the DayZ development philosophy still aligns with the original developers who were going to add RPG7, M249, Pkm, underbarrel grenadelaunchers and the like. A part of the DayZ community speaks out against adding anything fun to the game (rare, badass and realistic ways to destroy stuff for example) And they seem to have the dev teams ear. Give it back! xD

And the tanks and helis :D

    Notes

You could wrote notes for years. Got removed. Requested countless times. No official statement on it yet. I find myself thinking "If only notes were in the game right now" all the time while playing, there are countless ways to make player interactions really interesting with notes.
  18. Back in the day your inventory would always suffer greatly during fights. Mags, bandages, ANYTHING could and would be ruined when you got attacked. Spraying someone down with an assault rifle or blowing someone up with a grenade would leave a big amount of the useful loot on your victim ruined and useless. Nowadays it feels impossible to ruin items on another player. Even when shooting someone in the back a hundred times maybe one or two items will be ruined. All that ever gets ruined is three specific items, Suppressors and saline. And clothes instantly get ruined by one or two bullets which seems extreme. I would like a sledgehammer to the backpack or a full FAL spraydown to the back to actually mean something realism wise. And have clothes be a little more resistant to bullets. Shooting a 9mm through a tshirt should leave it with two small holes, not completely covered in rust and a suspicious white milky substance, magically unwearable and dissolving with all your belongings inside when put on the floor. People will think twice before KOS, be encouraged to rob instead of shoot, it will feel more like a desperate apocalypse, more thought out and less destructive methods (headshot) will be more rewarding, and emergent gameplay will come from key items bein damaged: looting / travel / trade will be encouraged.

    Underbarrel grenade launchers

The launchers you named have been added to the game ten years ago. (Never made fully functional) I would like to see them completed. With realistic drawbacks and positive attributes. I disagree that this would be "OP" in any way. Make them a bit rare if you really HAVE to, but please do not exclude them from the game / cripple them unrealistically like the M79. DayZ is THE authentic zombie apocalypse "what would you do?" game. It is THE game that should have realistic, badass and dangerous stuff lying around which people phantasize about grabbing when the irl apocalypse hits. "I'd saw down all the zombies with a chainsaw!" "I'd get all my friend into a helicopter and we'd mow down all the zombies with machineguns!" "I'd grab an RPG and blow up hordes of zombies!" Nobody: "I'd MAYBE grab a rifle from a millitary base. MAYBE. But I wouldn't attach a suppressor because that would be unfair. And all those underbarrel grenadelaunchers and badass RPGs and Machineguns I would definetly NEVER touch. That would be way too much fun for me, and everyone else would definetly feel unfairly treated if I shot them with one."

    Add M24!

One of the first badass guns I ever found in the DayZ mod. Seems easy to add to me. Adds more variety. Looks very cool. ArmA2 DayZ mod nostalgia bonus. Add M24!

    Experimental Update 1.24 (Change Log)

The DayZ creative lead said in their newest DayZ youtube video: The tree player and car collission has a MINIMAL impact on performance. The BULLETS collision hitbox (a seperate hitbox that can be changed without removing tree climbing) has a big(ger) impact on performance. So I don't see why they remove the badass climbing trees feature. I have never ever gotten stuck on a tree either with my character or vehicle which was not chopped down. Please only remove collission with felled / lying down trees.

    Make the UAZ496 car drivable

One of the first times I ever played, a guy gifted me this car. It was the best day of my life. This would be a great nostalgiagasm addition to the game, like the DMR 🙂
  24. Hello! A question that has been on many player's mind is: Why were books removed? And will they ever come back? Since it was a beloved feature and we have no explanation to why it was removed or if it could ever come back could Kyiara please help us out here? 🙂 For context:

NBC Loot is TOO HARD TO FIND!

I don't like that suppressors are gas zone only. They are so crazily powerful, you are forced to run the annoying NBC gauntlet. And you feel it. "Why do I NEED to do this boring collectathon AGAIN and AGAIN? Why do they WANT me to do this every time, when the whole reason I NEED to do this is getting a silencer, which makes no sense and was intentionally placed there." Realistically they should be available at milllitary installations too.
