Why don't use real values in weapon ballistics?

It would be so cool if we had real life values! Even though its a small thing the game would be more simulatory, gun enthusiasts would be impressed and authenticity lovers like me would be very happy too. -
It is as fast as a quick punch and it always staggers. It outspeeds any staggering attack, meaning a player with a gun will always deter a melee-charge, unless the attacker abuses the 4 meter running-attack range (with fists or any other melee). Even if you do so, you will be left vulnerable to the following gunbash and shot, if you don't manage to get the sweetspot range at which you can ranged-power attack and be close enough to follow up with regular p-attacks. There is nothing you can do against a capable player armed with a gun in a melee fight. They will always stagger you before you get a power-attack off and then shoot you. And if they miss the shot they can just stagger you again instantly. The only way to take down a gun-player as a melee-player is by complete surprise (incredibly unlikely) or by them being having really bad reflexes / not knowing about gunbashing. The gunbash (a quick wave or the hand) completely stops a charging and running-attacking player in their tracks, the momentum of their whole body is just cancelled out, this is not authentic. Any opinions and experiences are apprechiated 🙂

Sadly this is the sentiment that i see in the majority in the DayZ community, on youtube, forums and other media. Even the developers give me that feel too often, the small detonator range, not being able to move IEDs or pick them up/carbombs, the grenadelauncher not having working ironsights with zeroing, denial of RPGs and possibly underbarrel grenadelaunchers. People always want to be safe in DayZ the game all about being vulnerable and ultimate freedom. Stronger bases, less deadly weapons (unusable thump-ironsight), inhumanly tough survivors, less punishing mechanics, ingame maps and party systems and restrictions of what players can do (to other players) is a huge part of what people ask for IN DAYZ of all games. Another huge part is bikes and bows ofcourse xD -

You might aswell do this in the current patch with a PISTOL, it is the fastest MELEE in the game. Run in naked with only a pistol in hand, whack the guy and get an easy headshot. Just do the same trick twice to him if he has a helmet, it's fast enough. I think a more important issue than melee charges at tisy is what we currently have: geared people at the coast being gifted unfair advantages over unarmed hobos. Do we really need to protect the guy with the drummag akm from an unarmed, starving, limping homeless guy? They don't need to go there, and if they choose to do so they have bombs, armor and guns to fend for themselves, aswell as melee weapons. Do they really need their guns to also be better than any available melee, IN A MELEE SITUATION? On the coast is where you can expect a melee charge, not tisy. And on the coast every day people get slaughtered by the hundreds by geared players who can kill them easily at range, and even more easily in cqc. I am not suggesting make melee faster, i am suggesting to make the LONG RANGE SNIPER RIFLE be ON PAR with the brass knuckles designed for quick knockouts to the face in a MELEE SITUATION. In your naked bumrush Tisy case you would still beat the guy if you were faster, the better player would win, since I am asking the swingspeed to be equal, not favor melee. -

My Proposa: make the bash as fast as a melee power-attack. Now we have a skill-based environment, the faster player wins. This does not solve the issue of the jelly-fists that can't knockout with 3 strong and 1 soft punch to the head. I think ontop of the speed-evening out, melee headshots should become a thing. If you punch someone in the head once or twice with fists or a pistol whip they should go down. All this does not solve the issue of bayonets being useless, you should be able to blow and soft- punch/stab with a gun aswell so you don't become defenseless when your stamina runs out after stabbing twice. -

Another thing i realized: Even if the armed person has a sack on their head, is crouching down and looking towards the ground and you run up to them fullspeed and get a surprise punch ON THEIR HEAD, with the momentum of your punch and the run-up added together, and THEN follow up with TWO MORE punches that are so hard that they drain ALL of your stamina... Yes the guy punches you with his pistol and shoots you in the head, as you stagger backwards in a slow and predictable manner. It is impossible to defeat a gun with fists in this game under any circumstance. (except you inject an epipen AND have a slow opponent AND happen to be the PERFECT distance away when initiating the first punch.) It is very silly that having a gun turns you into a karate master with lightning fast reflexes and strength. -
All you have to tell me is "official server". Yes it was a hacker. Official servers have been overrun by hackers for the past 3 years, you couldn't properly play on them through all those years.

Hahaha yes this is a good idea. It's very funny when someone is trying to hide and they sneeze loudly. I can suppress my sneeze very effectively in real life. -

A stab vest stops Mosin Bullets (25HP left), Tundra Bullets (25hp) and even a straight up MP133 Shotgun slug (45hp!) POINT BLANK. (stab vests are common within two minutes of spawning) If the gun is TOUCHING THE GUYS CHEST RIGHT WHERE HIS HEART IS AND YOU SHOOT HE WILL TAKE A SHORT NAP AND BE FINE AFTERWARDS! xD This feels VERY wong, the biggest, loudest,most badass guns feell like little peashooters and the game is not hardcore if you get a second chance after being hit by them IN THE HEART. This leads to anyone inside a house being very safe from any gun except for the blaze, because the target gets knocked out and drops behind the windowsill where you can no longer shoot them. It is incredibly frustrating to get a good sniper position unseen, craft a suppressor or get one out of the toxic zone, measure the range and zero your scope, hit the shot in the one second the guy shows himself in the window, only for him to take a nap and then either camp inside forever or just disappear through the back door. I am never unarmored in this game, the first thing I do is grap a police vest two minutes after spawning. This really feels like the game is holding the baby players hand, "don't cry we give you a second chance!" It is less of a stretch that Press and Plate Vests do this, but you can see where a STAB vest shouldn't be completely bulletproof.

It makes NO SENSE, it is insanely unrealistic and i like realism and hardcore deaths. You can see guns on youtube shooting through all kinds of metal and concrete 🙂 You can shoot through concrete Walls with a winchester but not through a light vest. I always loved DayZ for authenticity and hardcoreness, this vest is the complete opposite of what I like about DayZ. Often you can double tap, but there are also many occasions where the person drops behind an obstacle and wakes up to spray you, run away forever or just camp. (a second chance, not hardcore) With plates this is how it should be (realistic), but if every player instantly can have a stabvest that unrealistically gives you a second life it does not feel like my DayZ idea.

No 😄 My opinion on this is just no, why does this need a counter? The game is not an arena shooter where every class and power has to be balanced so its a fair fight? I can just pickup a tire wrench and stand behind the door in the PD, that is even deadlier than a crusty coast mosin with one bullet and no scope. I want death to be even easier to "achieve" xD. You didn't pay attention to the nice freshie you are helping and he stabbed you in the heart with a kitchen knife? dead! The Stab vest is also a blessing for coast campers. There was a guy in the hospital shooting people out the window in Berez, I took a position, put on my suppressor, got the range, shot him right in the chest with my winchester right as he peeked outside to murder more innocent hobos. He just took a short nap and went back to shooting hobos because of his unrealistically indestructible stab vest, I really felt a strong disappointment with the game in that moment. (he went ko under the window where he cannot be shot) I like death being around every corner, this is what really defines and puts apart DayZ from other boring games that are too scared to have immersive deaths. The snipers on the coast will also face more danger if the vest is nerfed, many coast guns will one-shot those coast campers too if the vest is made realistic.

For me it's OP because its so unrealistic. It just feels so wrong that people survive point blank shots with the biggest guns that can penetrate houses and metal but not a STAB vest apparently. It also feels so contrary to the whole "DayZ is a hardcore game where you can loose everything in the blink of an eye" image. AND i get triggered when i snipe some guy eating beans but he survives and runs away xD

The range is too far. If you pay attention you can clearly see that players and zombies get hit by it even when they are 3 meters away.

That is what melee fight devolve into. It's all about getting a RANGED sprint attack off xD. It's just people sprinting in circles around eachother like .62 all over again, where .62 had true melee impacts and no invisible 3 meters arms (except for the fishing rod hehe).

I just watched a dead body with good loot on it for 30 minutes from 300 meters with my acog sniper so my friend could come and loot it. I was looking at the body trough the scope, scanning my direct surroundings sometimes and never moved further away. It despawned with all the good loot. This forces you to loot bodies within 30 minutes even if it puts you in extreme danger. There were other players around so I am fairly sure i would have been shot if I had looted it forced by the 30 minute despawn timer. By the way i got instakilled by some guy while writing this xD

Make her wear a ski Mask and full hunter outfit or alternatively have her dead on the floor from hypothermia in the next bit of lore please! That would be very cool and reflect how you can't wear her cool survivor outfit since its always freezing everywhere.

Since the experimental release i have witnessed exactly one grenadelauncher that actually loaded a harmful round. I looted the entirety of NWAF and found only one explosive round. It takes twelve rounds to destroy a single gate. It makes a really loud and distincitve thump sound each time you shoot. You could always just shoot bases from hundreds of meters away if you wanted. You could even place a bunch of grenades down within one second and shoot them from hundreds of meters away silently to blow open the base.

He broke his legs when it crashed, ofcourse! It would be a nasty surprise to heli looters and a nice attention to detail 😉

It bothers me that head-punches don't help with knocking people out. All you can do is deplete your stamina meter, then spam mouse 1 and hope your enemy doesnt fight back if they have a gun. Headshots should do extra shock damage and punches to the legs should have a chance to break them. Whenever i try to break someones legs with melee they just die.

Hello Community! 😀 The majority of people on Wobo videos, DayZ Forums and Reddit do not like realistic or cool weapons! People don't want to die in this game. People don't want: -A realistic firerate on the M4 -A SINGLE BARREL BREAK ACTION grenadelauncher WITHOUT ADVANCED SIGHTS (They could have added multibarreled grenadelaunchers or automatic ones with scopes) -Explosives (that are already toned down from their real-life counterparts looking at blast radius and damage). -The possibility to get shot in the face, while wearing a helmet that DOESNT COVER YOUR FACE -Mines, tripwires, beartraps -Bases to be raidable To those people I have a proposal: Maybe it's not the game, maybe its you? The thrill of DayZ is being able to die at any moment with the cool stuff you have earned. (epic weapons such as the M4 or Grenadelauncher). A good game of your mentality is Barbies Wonderland. I can only suggest it for you. It does not have ANYTHING that could kill you, no amazing guns to find at all AND i guarantee your Farm will NEVER be raided! 😀
