The way I do it is look around your spawn town for dead freshies (players). Often at least one person spawns with you and dies somewhere (with or without your help :D) If there are typical suicide-jumpoff-places like silos, lighthouses and cliffs you can check them out for bodies. You can take their bones, they have 10. Enough for a spear, multiple hooks and knives and you can use their guts as a rope for your rod. And their fat for your torch. Alternatively if you hear a chicken screaming those also have 2 bones. 🙂

"Did you check out the in game stats as of right now? The FAL muzzle velocity is at 693 m/s. doing 122 in game damage. While M14 is 941 m/s. and does 150 points of damage. " - Another guy in this thread IRL the FAL shoots it's bullets 1.5% slower than the DMR, a small difference. In-game its 35%. That is a huge difference made up by the devs. The FAL for completely unrealistic and made-up reasons: -NEVER 1-tap KOs plate wearers at any range while the DMR can do this up to 300m -Has it way harder to hit targets at range because of the 35%+ time delay and bullet drop The reasons may be: The devs want to catapult the DMR back to it's legendary 2012 DayZ mod status Or because they want to "balance" the FALs full-auto capability compared to other guns Or because the FAL spawns in gas zones and the DMR spawns at heli crashes Personally the crippleing of fun guns by nerfing their stats down far from realistic ones, really bothers me and makes me respect DayZ a whole lot less. (I assume: M16 wobbles around in your hands like it's too hot to hold because it is accesible in lower tiers, FAL is as mentioned above, AKM ballistics are crippled unrealistically because it can attach a drum mag)

1. I LOVE the skybox. It really makes the whole game look better. An option for even higher texture resolution on the clouds would be great. 2. What I liked least is the gas zone change (more guns restricted to the gas zones) and the DMR buff (because of how unrealistic it is) 3. I personally would give guns as close to real life values (speed, firerate, attachments, stopping power, penetration) as possible. It seems like FAL and DMR should be way closer to eachother. It bothers me that someone in the dev team WANTS the FAL to be bad at range and hit way less hard in every situation than the DMR, and that being the reason they function the way they do. ONLY because it has full-auto(?). I would also make the best loot spawn in the gas zone, but not limit it to the gas zone only. I don't like doing the gas zone run for the millionth time and so many good guns ONLY being in the gas zone really makes looting the rest of the map less exciting. I have written my lengthy arguments a bunch of times on this forum and Reddit. More things I really like because why not: -The loot drop in the middle of the airfield is great! Daring players to go there is a lot of fun and danger. Also enables people to snipe that place, which is fun for both parties involved (until someone dies) Being able to find NVGS and such there makes looting the airfield more exciting, though I am not a fan of that ONLY spawning right in the middle, it would be more fun and exciting, also worth it, if there was a small chance that the rest of the airfield can spawn one of those rare items. Otherwise people will loot the airdrop and instantly leave. -Volumetric clouds have been on the wish list of many people for years. We don't have volumetric clouds xD But the new skybox fakes them very well and with the new sky lighting the whole game has been visually upgraded, it looks amazing. Especially the dark clouded sky. -Cosmetics I like them a lot! They look harsh apocalypty and evil-bandit like. Every little new cosmetics adds to the options 🙂 The 100% customisable and detailed outfit system really is groundbreaking and adds so much to DayZ. They are also high/best insulation which means we acatually get to use them 😛 (Please let us, at least on community servers, turn on summer mode so we can wear ANYTHING under best insulation) -NWAF I don't know I just like it. -Car push Omg. One of my favorites. It is incredibly useful, when your car got stuck it could easily make you cry. This fixes so many heart breaking situations. Ontop of that it lets you do many really funny things like pushing cars onto people and such. Pushing cars off cliffs onto people xD Please let us manually enable/disable the handbrake to enable this even more. -All those little sounds are amazing. Its so immersive and realistic how many actions have unique and high quality sounds. Easy to add (in comparison) but they add so much to the experience. -Louder and further explosions sounds Yees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apocalypse atmosphere+ Player interaction+ Explosions feeling realistic, devastating and satisfying+

Yes very much. The ballistics are often unrealistic. Realistic ballistics are really cool, DayZ is the type of game that (had?) should have those. I really want guns to be realistic as the top priority.

I think you straight up shouldn't be able to enter a car with a big backpack on which isn't empty. Even a normal backpack with a few books inside prevents you completely from sitting down in a car IRL. Screw fun we need annoying realism xD

Fun. I can think of many fun things to do with them 🙂 There is a reason modders added cigarettes and joints years ago. It's just fun and silly.

Community servers are much safer. Official servers has many cheaters.

Definetly. We already have a MG in the game files. There were heli-mounted MGs in the original 2012 DayZ too. A realistic, rare MG would be perfect for DayZ. M249 could be a heavier, harder to handle, rarer M4. With the upside being it's deployable and has 200rnd belts. What is a zombie apocalypse without machineguns?

You are not missing out. After trying for a while and getting this error too I finally got in. It is so insanely laggy that there is no point in even playing. I tried official servers and spaggies experimental, they are litterally a slideshow and everything has a delay of at least a second.

Would be pretty funny to have. We used to be able to shoot while clapping, jumping/falling, in full sprint and while sitting. Even while your gun hung down beside you in one hand. I shot a guy in the toes by standing next to him, my gun hanging in one hand pointing down at his toes and played it off as an accident 😄 And you could shoot onehanded while flipping someone off / thumbs up/pointing/facepalming/greeting.

These are great suggestions for community servers and probably already exist as inofficial mods. But for the official game they could not be worse 😄 I always know what killed me roughly. There is no doubt about it EVER. I am an experienced player though. I have never felt the slightest need/justification for a killcam, and it would completely destroy PvP with teams. One of your team dies and he can instantly tell you where the enemy is hiding, what equipment he has etc. It would also be the most unimmersive / unrealistic feature ever and really hurt DayZ's key attributes: authenticity and atmosphere. Toggleable PvP would ruin the whole point of the game. It is about NOT knowing who you can and cant trust and unavoidable player interactions. On community servers why not, people would enjoy it. I have always loved when geared people came to the coast. If they are friendly, new players who will never even see high end gear get to meet a cool spec ops looking guy and are helped out. Rarely they even share their high end loot. Just yesterday I let a complete noot play around with my SVD. If they are NOT friendly they are an amazing opportunity to form a freshie gang and defeat them, earning cool gear and creating crazy player interactions. Or just grab the next shovel and try to hit them on the head with it, one of my favorite things to do. Simply running away is often impossible to beat, you do not HAVE to engage them. I want to fear being jumped by a full navy seal team at any moment, I do NOT want to feel safe feel a limit to what might happen / loot I can find. Your suggestions would make DayZ highly new player friendly. But it is not supposed to be that way. YOU are supposed to change and adapt, not the game/apocalypse to you. -
Thumbtacks that are placeable on car seats. They make your character emit a pain response and give you a small bleed like when you cut your foot.

As long as the devs look at some kind of realistic explanation to why suppressors do spawn in certain places and quantities I am happy. The current gas zone restriction shows us that they solely looked at what gameplay loop they would like and completely disregarded the highly valued authenticity / realism and sandbox nature of DayZ. Yes shooting a loud gun should definetly be an important decision for the reason you wrote, I agree. But not if you have a suppressor, since then its way quieter 😄 And yes I often find myself thinking: Ok I will skip everything and run straight to Zelenogorsk to get a plate. Once I have the plate I already know there is no use in looting NWAF or Tisy, since the best I'd get would be an AK74 which I already found in Zeleno. The NBC run also gets denied because it is just hours of chore for a slighty better gun and suppressor. Mixing up the loot pool at millitaries while keeping the tier system ( Tisy is best, Balota is worst) would definetly help with fun, realism and replayability while keeping the overall progression intact. Also decreases the NEED and capability to farm certain loot in certain spots.

I do not share your suppressor opinion 😄 From what I see on youtube and the news many warriors nowadays have access to suppressors on both M4 and AK. You see them all the time in IRL combat footage. Having them only be found in gas zones is almost as unrealistic as the bottle suppressor itself. And being unrealistically forced to go into the gas zone, doing the annoying/chorelike (if forced to do) NBC loot route really makes me frown at the developers (I still love them). They want you to do a gameplay loop, but why? That gameplay loop adds nothing but irritation and unrealism. For the POX gas and VSS it totally does make sense to have to go there though. Suppressors should be there, but not exclusively there. I am a realism lover, I want a hardcore REALISTIC apocalypse so I can live out the "what would I do if a zombie apocalypse happened" phantasy. I'd even rather have them spawn in all millitary bases just extremely rare. Why do you think shooting your gun should be such a heavy decision?

Somebody uploade a video of an IRL bottle "suppressor" on a mosin. The mosin shot extremely loudly and the bottle simply flew away xD But I heard oil filter suppressors are a real thing that are craftable. Realistically bottle suppressors should not work. In my eyes they are a standing for whatever improvised suppressors are doable IRL without needing to go into too much detail. I wouldn't mind them being harder to make and having less durability since EVERYONE on the server running around with tons of duct tape bottles, which are indestructible because they are kept in bulletproof pouches, silencing their high caliber snipers and being undetectable is really unrealistic.

After four years and me and others recently bringing the melee up on the forums / reddit it seems to me we recently got the option to do a (regular range) running powerattack without a run-up. A huge flaw for four years has been not being able to move while attacking (the previous system let you walk, jump, run, crouch, fall, sprint, change stance) and at least we got a partial fix for that after calling it out. Another feature that got the "good enough" treatment is IEDs having their selling point completely removed before they hit stable (being able to put them in bags / cars, obscuring them, rigging players with explosives). I never saw this addressed by Bohemia at all. I suspect that this "good enough" treatment comes from the limited (wo)manpower and resources Bohemia management is willing to give. Most feature suggestions in dev-streams simply seem to get turned down because they have to prioritise what they can add with the limited time and workforce they have. The limited things we do get are very cool. -

I get that feeling when looking at what happened to melee. We had 100% accurate and represented swings that would draw a line and hit exactly where it VISIBLY would. Headhits would be devastating and would win most fights instantly like IRL. If you hit the enemys weapon your swing would not hurt him. Why did this not carry over to the new more cinematic melee? Why do we have the accurate visibly represented melee hitscan completely replaced by: you swing into the ROUGH direction of someone and it WILL count as a hit even if it doesnt visibly connect. Blocks block 100% of anything, even a sword or mace. Even if the swing visibly goes over the block into the guys eye xD And the game now even gives you aim assist in melee, literally moving your character and taking away free will. Even changing the target away from the obvious enemy into allies xD Aswell as headhits not doing extra shock damage anymore, meaning it does NOT matter which part of the body you hit. I sadly suspect what you said in your comment, shaping the game towards console controllers and ease of use, away from realism and hardcoreness. Or the dev team which made the overhaul did not have the same inspiration/vision (Chivalry the medieval melee game) as the original dev team with Dean Hall and Brian Hicks. A huge loss and downgrade in my opinion, a move away from what DayZ is about which has not been adressed in 4 years. -
I am talking about the 2009 hightech of ArmA 2 roadsigns falling over instead of everyone in the Humvee dying and the car getting completely wrecked xD This was even in DayZ in 2013 or so. We recently survived zombie swarms, poverty and gunfights just to drive our big truck into a stop sign and we all died instantly. I guess STOP means STOP. I assume this was turned off or removed from the code to save server resources. Or maybe forgotten abou since car crashes only started being lethal years later. It could just be one line in some config needing to be changed or if we are unlucky a huge undertaking needing to be coded anew. I DON'T KNOW!!!! :D

While playing Namalsk i really got the impression that he is probably the best project or creative lead for DayZ. Not only can you tell how passionate he is about his work by him crafting what is pretty much a (inofficial) full size DLC in his FREE TIME FOR FREE. But while playing Namalsk I really got the impression that he understands DayZ perfectly. Atmosphere, player interaction (wether hostile or friendly) and HARDCORE survival ASWELL as exploration have huge emphasis in Namalsk. Namalsk leans towards the things which define DayZ more than vanilla. Except for the Gordon freeman suit xD
