Probably unpopular opinion: Dynamic gas ruins immersion in the quiet Apocalypse experience
Pyongo Bongo replied to Kathosky's topic in General Discussion
I have had very similar thoughts :) It both takes away and adds atmosphere though. :) :) I love the lonely, actual END of the world vibe. No police, no army, no government, just you and your fight for survival. And then rarely you run into others you have to deal with on YOUR terms, without any restrictions or NPC interactions. A high tech well organised millitary NPC program (the force systematically launching the mortars to kill infected) gives me the feeling: Don't worry, outside of chernarus all is well and the millitary is taking care of it. You are not so lonely, and the world is far from having ended. I try to explain it away. It's an automated system, the people running it are long dead and once in a while it does it's thing. Or there are mortars sitting somewhere and once in a while a zombie bumps into the trigger xD I don't want ANY human organisation outside of players in-game to actively affect us. The dynamic mortar strikes and helicrashes are a good compromise though. I love the absolute violent terror. *Everything is RELATIVELY fine* *PFRRRRT BOOOOOM!!!!!!!* OH MY GOD MY SKIN IS MELTING! *Pukes out all the blood and dies* xD The downside being the less lonely feel, which you can kind of explain away like I said above. If they were more rare it would also help the atmosphere in my opinion. -
Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay
Pyongo Bongo replied to lakevu's topic in Suggestions
I totally agree with all except the covering fire making you scared. In ArmA 2 DayZ mod I think getting shot at completely drained your stamina. I have no opinion on this. Add it or don't :) More realistic scope behaviour would be cool. More realistic and more immersive. I have made posts about "the gun shoots whenever you pull the trigger" before. We actually used to be able to shoot in full sprint, while F3 sitting, while falling, while jumping, while the gun was lowered and you were emoting (flipping off, greeting, pointing). None of it useful but extremely fun and realistic. That would be one of those "wow" effect features which make DayZ stand out, and would add all kinds of fun / insane / memorable moments. -
DayZ had Bipods for the mosin, Ak variants and the M4. Lying down with a bipod deployed would almost remove recoil. The PKM and M249 machineguns have been in the game files for almost ten years. The producer of DayZ even made a post discussing the planned addition of the PKM years ago. My estimation is: Bipods and machineguns are a bit more work game design and "balanceing" wise so they have been dropped or keep getting pushed back for easier additions. I strongly hope the DayZ development philosophy still aligns with the original developers who were going to add RPG7, M249, Pkm, underbarrel grenadelaunchers and the like. A part of the DayZ community speaks out against adding anything fun to the game (rare, badass and realistic ways to destroy stuff for example) And they seem to have the dev teams ear. Give it back! xD

Suggestion for future vehicle additions
Pyongo Bongo replied to lCCPl Curious Console Player's topic in Suggestions
And the tanks and helis :D -
You could wrote notes for years. Got removed. Requested countless times. No official statement on it yet. I find myself thinking "If only notes were in the game right now" all the time while playing, there are countless ways to make player interactions really interesting with notes.

Back in the day your inventory would always suffer greatly during fights. Mags, bandages, ANYTHING could and would be ruined when you got attacked. Spraying someone down with an assault rifle or blowing someone up with a grenade would leave a big amount of the useful loot on your victim ruined and useless. Nowadays it feels impossible to ruin items on another player. Even when shooting someone in the back a hundred times maybe one or two items will be ruined. All that ever gets ruined is three specific items, Suppressors and saline. And clothes instantly get ruined by one or two bullets which seems extreme. I would like a sledgehammer to the backpack or a full FAL spraydown to the back to actually mean something realism wise. And have clothes be a little more resistant to bullets. Shooting a 9mm through a tshirt should leave it with two small holes, not completely covered in rust and a suspicious white milky substance, magically unwearable and dissolving with all your belongings inside when put on the floor. People will think twice before KOS, be encouraged to rob instead of shoot, it will feel more like a desperate apocalypse, more thought out and less destructive methods (headshot) will be more rewarding, and emergent gameplay will come from key items bein damaged: looting / travel / trade will be encouraged.

The launchers you named have been added to the game ten years ago. (Never made fully functional) I would like to see them completed. With realistic drawbacks and positive attributes. I disagree that this would be "OP" in any way. Make them a bit rare if you really HAVE to, but please do not exclude them from the game / cripple them unrealistically like the M79. DayZ is THE authentic zombie apocalypse "what would you do?" game. It is THE game that should have realistic, badass and dangerous stuff lying around which people phantasize about grabbing when the irl apocalypse hits. "I'd saw down all the zombies with a chainsaw!" "I'd get all my friend into a helicopter and we'd mow down all the zombies with machineguns!" "I'd grab an RPG and blow up hordes of zombies!" Nobody: "I'd MAYBE grab a rifle from a millitary base. MAYBE. But I wouldn't attach a suppressor because that would be unfair. And all those underbarrel grenadelaunchers and badass RPGs and Machineguns I would definetly NEVER touch. That would be way too much fun for me, and everyone else would definetly feel unfairly treated if I shot them with one."

One of the first badass guns I ever found in the DayZ mod. Seems easy to add to me. Adds more variety. Looks very cool. ArmA2 DayZ mod nostalgia bonus. Add M24!

One of the first times I ever played, a guy gifted me this car. It was the best day of my life. This would be a great nostalgiagasm addition to the game, like the DMR 🙂

@Kyiara Please answer this question about Books :)
Pyongo Bongo posted a topic in General Discussion
Hello! A question that has been on many player's mind is: Why were books removed? And will they ever come back? Since it was a beloved feature and we have no explanation to why it was removed or if it could ever come back could Kyiara please help us out here? 🙂 For context: -
I don't like that suppressors are gas zone only. They are so crazily powerful, you are forced to run the annoying NBC gauntlet. And you feel it. "Why do I NEED to do this boring collectathon AGAIN and AGAIN? Why do they WANT me to do this every time, when the whole reason I NEED to do this is getting a silencer, which makes no sense and was intentionally placed there." Realistically they should be available at milllitary installations too.

The hacker problem, open discussion - Player: "Have you gotten banned at all from official servers?" Hacker: "Once, in the past three years."

This has been going on for the past three years already, and player numbers are always rising, recently another record has been broken. -

This has been going on for the past three years. Same goes for Team Fortress 2, a way bigger game with a way bigger company behind it. -
Slightly off topic to 1.24: Can they look up all the stats they need to know?
-
First of all, once again this official DayZ team community interaction really astonishes me positively every time :) Exactly what I love to see, it is better than ever. Addressing exactly what people ask for, forwarding community opinion AND having real life DayZ experience is great, thank you Kyiara. On the two quotes above: Sadly gameplay did change drastically. You used to be able to climb trees somewhat realistically, each single branch had a hitbox you could climb. Amazing feature. Hiding in trees with ghillies OMG! :) Instead now they simply deleted the hitboxes, so we have people unrealistically walking and falling through trees... No longer can you be a tree climbing sniper ghost badass. This is an extreme bummer. I'd honestly rather delete 1.24 and never release it than remove climbeable trees. On the recoil: What makes me suspicious: You increased the recoil of AUTOMATIC guns specifically. This sounds like the unrealistic gun "balancing" many people dislike in the DayZ community. Why automatics only? Shouldn't you increase the recoil of the Pioneer too if you do it to the M4? They shoot the same bullet. Or was the Pioneer realistic with it's recoil already, just the M4 wasn't? I would have loved to see "Adjusted recoil of guns based on caliber size, buttstock etc. to make it closer to real life."

In the past 4 years I can remember ONE time where I thought I was 99% killed by a hacker OUTSIDE of official PC servers. Do you play on official PC servers a lot? -

For the past 3-4 years the state has been: MOST of my official characters die to players who are very likely cheating and often there is no question about it. People running like the flash (faster than a full speed gunther), inivisble people messing with you, or the good old classic "everyone around you dies within one millisecond in a room with no windows". THREE YEARS. How? Team Fortress 2 has also been terribly messed up by hackers for that duration and is still. -
People are too quiet yes xD I am walking around with an AKM, M16, DMR, Saiga, makarov, glock, magnum and MKII + 8 grenades + 2 plates + ONE THOUSAND BULLETS!!!!!!!!! MANY OF THEM UNPACKAGED!!!! And I sound like a person who's got a backpack with a few books inside xD

What do you want to see in DayZ 2024?
Pyongo Bongo replied to SleeperZ's topic in General Discussion
It takes a while for the sickness to trigger. If I murdered someone IRL and ate parts of their body but not the brain I am sure I would suffer crippleing problems anyway, definetly mental and likely bodily problems too. It's not EXACTLY realistic that you always get kuru but it makes sense that it messes you up realistically. -

Pyongo Bongo replied to SleeperZ's topic in General Discussion
When you throw a badly damaged, loaded gun full force against a wall/floor it should have a chance to shoot depending on how hard you threw it xD -
Amazing idea Homeschooliazon who is denfinetly not me! The convoys the devs added really play into this very well, I ONCE found an SVD in CHERNO! I still remember that special moment just as I... uh... you said! And it only happened once in my lifetime, not leading to everyone running around the coast with high end gear, just as you said! I hope that m-.... your idea gets implemented even further with all loot receiving a bit of randomization 🙂

Gibe De Held-Item Collision b0ss
Pyongo Bongo replied to Homeschooliazon's topic in General Discussion
Great idea Homeschooliazon who is definetly not me! This was actually added partially recently!!! It is an amazing feature that you can shoot the items in peoples hands. The collision on backpacks, shoulder-weapons and with melee strikes can still be added 🙂 -
