This was already in the game, so I can give you info on what it would be like 🙂 I did appreciate the bit of realism yes, but it felt really weird and unnatural. I don't think this certain feature would be worth it, I don't think it can be implemented in a good way. It felt really wrong and annoying and I think that may be why it's no longer in the game. And I don't think it's me being a baby who can't handle hardcore mechanics, I am a hardcore lover, it was just a feature that can only be implemented really akwardly.

They have downsides compared to small guns: -longer, "weapon raise because of obstable" animation triggers earlier -heavier, decreases your stamina more -takes longer to un-holster -takes up more space in inventory -higher chance of being hit by enemy bullets (arguably an upside) -different melee bash animation (maybe a bit slower?) -More sway (I think, generally)
-
Yes I very much agree. 🙂

You can't. Drinking disinfectant is disabled. It's probably all up to the devs not wanting to put much time into these small / rarely used side-features while they have more than enoigh on their hands with everything else they are doing.
-
I think it's pretty fair and realistic enough the way it is :) They don't accumulate all the bombs and ammo it takes in just one night.
-
That was in the game for a long time. Small guns and pistols turned almost immediately. Big guns lagged behind the camera a bit.

CHEATER PLAYER DROPPING HAND GRANEDE
Pyongo Bongo replied to AntiCheatplayer's topic in General Discussion
This happened to me on the same server again two days ago -
Do you think it would be more realistic? I recently watched some videos of people shooting all kinds of guns, and now I think the recoil we have currently may be somewhat realistic. I used to think the .62 version was better with its intense recoil, but in a video of a woman shooting a mosin nagant, she didnt even twitch at all when shooting.

They showed this 8 years ago, but havent managed to make it work so far: https://trello.com/c/VbavGdMx/132-vehicles-aimspaces It would be really cool 🙂

Looks very COOL so far xD Will the rabbits come to Chernarus and Livonia too?
-
I just came here to say the new shotgun shots are absolutely amazing, they sound very realistic (I think) and badass 🙂

It's out. The music plays like every 20 minutes and then plays for a while, so you wont hear it instantly. I like it so far.

The chainsaw was in the game for years it was a lot of fun. You could de-forestate entire hills and de-freshiestate entire Kamishovos. I'd like.

official gets tired quickly and people go to mods and you can understand

I have been playing on official (and un-modified community servers) for 11 years and I am not tired of it :) -

Repair Buttstocks and Handguards with Epoxy
Pyongo Bongo replied to Pyongo Bongo's topic in Suggestions
Aha. So you are saying it wouldn't work, thank you for giving us this insight. Is there no way you could reasonably/realistically repair most buttstocks and handguards in the game? If there is absolutely no way, then I think we should not be able to repair them. If there is a reasonable way survivors could do it IRL that works well enough, then epoxy putty could just work as a stand-in for the more realistic method. This way they wouldn't have to add multiple items and complicated methods for repairing buttstocks and could just say: "Epoxy repairs attachments, it makes no sense but good enough" -

I had the same thought! :) I am pretty sure it comes down to server performance. The devs have to limit the things happening on thw DayZ servers, because the server can handle only so much beforw it starts to lag / crash. They likely decided that since the server can only hande a certain amount of loot, they don't want to waste resources on items being hidden in hard to find locations, while draining server resources. One example was the somewhat recent millitary-watchtower loot removal. Nobody ever checked those, so the loot spawning there was dead weight. Even though those hidden loot spawns were a lot of fun to look for and very immersive.

CHEATER PLAYER DROPPING HAND GRANEDE

This happens all the time on all official servers and has been for four years straight. Invisibility is a recent thing, but cheaters murdering you has been on an unacceptable level for four years straight. -
Player character dies when logging off under effect of pox granade/vial
Pyongo Bongo replied to Yayx's topic in Suggestions
Making the logout timer 35 seconds (guaranteed life threatening gas poisoning) instead of 15 seconds (a cut or two). Would help a lot. I think if you log out in poison gas your character should die and not be allowed to disappear. You can always just instantly log as soon as the gas hits as a 100% safe strategy, it would be good if it's changed. -
I really dislike running back to a fight after dying, picking up a gun and shooting the guy who just killed you. Or people dropping their gear in a sneaky spot before going into a fight because they can come back from the dead to retrieve it, this defeats the purpose of the game and is really unfair against people who don't do that. My idea would be loooooooooooooong respawn timers. I'd like a server that only lets you rejoin after a day. Or a bunch of servers which ban you for a week if you die, so you can join another one and keep playing. Then we could also increase the time it takes for dead bodies to despawn 🙂 🙂 I love finding corpses that tell a story and give me epic loot surprises (pretty much impossible with the current 30 min despawn).

I don't think it's ok to constanty loop an advertisement in the main menu of a game I paid for. I did not give you the twentyfour bucks ten years ago to be shown advertisements. If you (Bohemia) is unreasonable enough to leave the ad in-game, then please at least let people turn it off after a while. If you are still unreasonable enough to not do that, at least let people turn it off who already own the advertised DLC. The ad tells me that I own what is advertised, it say "OWNED" really big. Actually it probably means to say: GET OWNED WE PUT ADS IN YOUR FAVORITE (pay to play) GAME XD

Remove the advertisement from my paid product
Pyongo Bongo replied to Pyongo Bongo's topic in Suggestions
I have and I am worried DayZ is headed down a similar path. ArmA 3 has advertisements for DLC everywhere. Wanna get in a car? "This is a DLC car, buy the Apex DLC if you want to get in!" Sometimes your whole screen gets overlayed with pulsing squares with the dlc icon. Bohemias newfound love and enthusiasm for DayZ DLC (this part I like) AND in-game advertisements (this part less) for the DLC, combined with how they handled ArmA III DLC ad spam worries me. -
Overhauling the infected
Pyongo Bongo replied to lCCPl Curious Console Player's topic in Suggestions
Yes millitary zombies should sometimes have guns :) And grenades :) :) Would make looting infected more immersive and exciting. The commander infected even has a hip holster which could hold a pistol. -
Probably unpopular opinion: Dynamic gas ruins immersion in the quiet Apocalypse experience
Pyongo Bongo replied to Kathosky's topic in General Discussion
How I would change it: -More rare, maybe 50% -Sometimes any random spot can be hit, not just the pre determined towns and millitary bases This would shift the implication from: There is a dedicated untouchable, invisible millitary NPC force out there interacting with us, but we can't interact back. To: The world has ended and once in a while an old unmaintained weapon system missfires, an unmanned automated weapon from the initial days of the apocalypse sometimes goes off. To me the gas is simply a small annoyance. Dying to it is almost completely avoidable, and because of how pre-determined and predictable it is certain base / camping spots have to be ruled out by players and metagaming is encouraged. It is mostly a small annoyance. Making it more rare and randomising the impact zone would make it less annoying and more spectacular. It's more impressive when you get surprised by something you can't predict have rarely experienced, than something annoying happening with you already expecting when and where it hits.
