Sorry man your jest isn't funny and happens to be in particularly bad taste...and I am agnostic to the bone.

I think we are freezing because of something isn't working as intended in the game which is OK since the game is in mid AlPHA. However it wont be OK if we start dying of Bronchitis and Pneumonia when we have no way of of protecting ourselves against the cold with respect to clothing. Today I was running around the map looking for crashed choppers and despite my top or the line clothing I got to the shaking stage stage. Knowing that Hypothermia would be next I pulled into a shack broke out my fireplace kit, lit it up and got warmed up and then got stuffed on hog meat. When I continued my mission I was back to being cold very quickly so I found cover and checked out. What a pain in the ass.

They will get around to making more uniforms in time but the real problem is the limited selection of serviceable civilian outdoor clothing and the fact that we can be running while dressed in pristine: Gorka Jacket, Gorka Trousers, Balaclava, Radar cap and gloves and still be freezing and heading towards hypothermia.
-
Good point! They are not viable because there are no mountains of Nazi Uniforms that one could call Surplus. And we are talking about a span of nearly 70 years since the last copies of those were made. And if one studies their performance in cold weather (most notably Stalingrad) one will discover that they were vastly inferior at keeping Mr. Hypothermia at bay when compared to the Russian uniforms of the time. And one other thing is a characteristic of old uniforms Dry Rot. There should be some rugged Gor-Tex civilian Jackets and trousers that have a few more pockets than the civ stuff does now and those need not be found only in bright clown colors. Other than that the clothing that is available now is just about right. I'm not sure that this ins't supposed to be a dress up game. Have some Beans :beans: Here is what I want (NOT)

I believe that a bit of set dressing is necessary (at some point at least) to paint a more dismal picture of Chernarus. I think that some houses should be populated by dead folks in a decomposed state..folks that died of the plague and as a result did not turn into Zeds. Some of these folks along with looking nasty should also be containers where some minor loot may spawn. Other possibilities are roadside body dumps, open mass graves, and impaled and strung up Zeds. Also a few field research stations where Zeds were vivisected you know, bloody places. These should be be numerous and distributed around the map in logical places and change location upon server reset. There are already some static body piles so I'm sure its doable. Just an Idea.

For doors a grenade is a wonderful key. For me the bottom line is that anyone that thinks their little club house is secure or should be is delusional. You know I would be happy with the ability to dig a hole and cache extra gear and supplies in it and camouflage it when I leave and have a reasonable expectation that it wont be discovered and looted.

I agree 100% gannon46 NOTLD 1990 Barbra, "They're so slow...we can just walk right by them." NOTLD !968, Reporter, "If I was surrounded by 6 or eight of these things would I have a chance?" The Chief, "There's no problem if you have a gun shoot them in the head if not get a club or a torch..beat them or burn them they go up pretty easy." Reporter, "are they slow moving Chief" The Chief, "yeah they're dead, they're all messed up." ************************************************************* However that is not the lore that DayZ follows, 28Days later is at least a chapter of the bible. ------FAST ZOMBIES-----> I hope we don't have to sink to 'Night Of The Living Bread'

Read the tea leaves Magafe not many people agree with you on this slow zombie shit. The zombies we have had since .49 was introduced are easy as hell to kill and evade. Do I hate the idea of slow zeds in all situations? No! The forest is a good place for slow silent zeds to jump out from between the trees at you. Take a run over to the Black Forest at night (without the contrast and brightness all cranked up) and see what I mean. And what is a NOOB anyway? I've logged 947 hours in 1st person mode alone and to some I am a NOOB. What really made me think of you as a NOOB is your inability to refrain from making it personal because your 'Idea' was scoffed at by the majority. (How many times do you think we have heard your suggestion?) In this thread your pros have been effectively annihilated so please expand on the real reason you want slow harmless zeds. Are you having a tough time dealing with the castrated Zeds that we have had since .49 was introduced? Now, if they decided to populate dark interior structures with a good number slow ambush zeds that would be spooky and fun to clear them out floor by floor. But those shouldn't re-spawn for a good while after being killed. Remember what works for Romero or Frank Darabont in a movie or TV series won't always work in a computer game. Until the day comes when DayZ makes better use of your graphics card and isn't so CPU dependent you will not see huge mobs of Zombies. Because of the limitations of the engine for now the Zombies must be fast and re-spawn to be a threat.
-
Yes! And there is the simple fact that a group of fifty slow zombies could be a threat if you couldn't out maneuver and out distance them so easily as you have described. There is also the fact that the engine cant support a mob of zeds that big at the moment. version .48 was better because they simulated larger numbers via a fast zombie re spawn rate and the fact that they would chase you forever. I got chased from the south side of the NW AF all the way north to the storage lockers and hog barns 400m to the east of Zaprudno. They were all second third and fourth generation zombies that could see you at 600m. I must have shot those three zeds three times each (and they always re-spawn as a different type). In the end I got them to bunch up in a barn and waxed them all in the 5 second limit and then hauled ass. But to make guys/gals like Magafe happy perhaps the Devs might consider making them a 'weak sister' mode that they can thrive in.
-
KId???? 10 to one I says I could have pissed you out of my dick Magafe. I'm hating on it so much because its just another dumb notion from a NOOB.
-
Thanks for the beans bro. They could have the zombies use a weapon like a shotgun or AKM as a melee weapon (like a bat) after they have expended what was in it (too dumb to reload). Then after you have dispatched the Zed you should be able to loot it. Although the weapon would be in bad shape (damaged) from the puss bag dragging it around in the mud all the time. Not all zeds should be weapon users not even a lot of them should be weapon users but there should be some and those should be in a highly energetic state. Beans for you sir :beans:
-
Well said from A to Z. I wouldn't mind a variety of Zeds and more of them but they should all be reasonably mobile and the freshest of them highly contagious sprinters. I wouldn't want to play the game with harmless Zeds. In fact the lower number of zeds combined with their slow slow to non existent re-spawn rate in .49 is making my ass tired because they are not much of a threat these days. Gannon46 said, "I would have to say I'm done because then the game becomes just a PVP game" EXACTLY CORRECT! As I recall PVP became the thing to do because in the beginning the zombies were too harmless to bother with. Have some beans :beans:
-
They want them slow because it would make it easier for them to survive (as you know). When they are slow enough and hit weakly enough then they will brag about how many zeds they have dispatched. Imagine how they would whimper if a zombie hit that produces bleeding also carried an infection with it. Beans? :beans:

People with slow reactions that have ten thumbs always say that. Thank god that Danny Boyle and Zack Snider introduced fast zombies in 28 Days later, Dawn Of the Dead 2004 and Umberto Lenzi introduced intelligent pack hunting weapon using zombies in Nightmare City. Actually, I think the Devs should introduce some of Umberto Lenzi's fast weapon using Alpha Zombies. In fact Umberto Lenzi's zombies are quite similar to DayZ zombies except that Day Z zombies can't use weapons. Besides that the Devs have already slowed down most of the zombies, decreased the rate of zombie re-spawning, and limited the range at which a second-third or fourth etc generation zombie can see and stay locked on to you. I miss the more aggressive and numerous zombies we had in .48 even if I did take more than a few beatings. I simply rounded up as much Epinephrine as I could find and when the screen started to lose color from blood loss its a simple thing to bandage, inject myself with Epinephrine and then seek mass quantities of food and water. I don't know what some of you guys want Zombies that can't move at all? Get real. Nightmare City https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDZ-rQX78_A

1) More fun!.....That is debatable 2) More Zombies......slow easy to kill zombies you mean 3) More things to do..... such as? 4lowers the amount of kill on sight....ya think so? 5)People will have to be more sneaky....really 6)No more Zombies running at you and hitting the air and killing you....long range glitch hitting is a thing of the past since .49 7)Game will be more about Zombies less about killing others....Thats silly.. 8)Having hordes of Zombies will add more suspense and excitement to the game because you can turn a corner then bam 50 zombies or less or more..hard to impliment thats why they were spawing so fas in .48. what we need is more fast zombies like we had in .48 but without the long range glitch hitting

Welcome to the real world. Go hiking for a couple of days all by yourself and see how much extraneous bullshit you hear or think you hear. I don't mind the ambient noise or even the disembodied Zombie vocalizations they all keep me alert.

Its interesting idea but too much like an RPG and I'm not sure we need the thought police to enforce civilization on anyone. As for myself I could give a shit about others and tend to stay away from contact for my benefit and the benefit of others that I will always see as a threat. Do we really need a Kumbaya statistic? And to say that people need contact with others to remain sane in a survival situation is absurd. Perhaps we should introduce infants into the mix so those inclined to do so can run around searching for diapers, baby clothes, and baby formula..wouldn't that be fun. I do quite well on my own without helping or hurting anyone. If I decide to do either its because that is what I want to do. Sometimes I have fun by dropping an extra gun and some supplies on a newspawn and sometimes I have fun killing well equipped guys that live for ambushing other players for no reason other than the joy of the kill. And the idea of discouraging KoS is absurd KoS is a survival mechanism. Why do I KoS potential threats? Fear and because it is better to give pain than receive it.

Good Idea, I love the broadcasts. And we have batteries so lets say two 9volt batteries should be able to power a tiny TV for a short while. And the clips from Night Of The Living Dead 1968 can be used without any copyright problems. This is my favorite start at 1min 40 sec

I like that :) Even just being able to take Zombie ears and craft a necklace would be swell. And maybe when you have a string of +20 ears that acts as a mild repellent.

That's good to know and they are right once the game is functioning well they well enter the final stage of Alpha and start sprucing things up and balancing everything out. And have some beans :beans: Exactly what I was thinking and with enough locations and lootable corpses that would also decentralize the loot spawns..Even small military loot spawns such as overrun military checkpoints, relief stations in remote areas would have a significant volume of loot even some ammo and a weapon or two, food (MREs?), and medical supplies like morphine, first aid kits, antibiotics, pain killers, epinephrine, bandages, alcohol, cleaner etc and I know they plan on creating lootable furniture. IMAGES.... Have some Beans :beans:

Yeah I know they want to make this a realistic survival game and they they have installed many features to to make it so. However one would hope that eventually a man dressed in a Fireman's Jacket, Cargo Pants, Balaclava, Radar Cap, Work Gloves, and Military Boots that is Healthy-Hydrated-Energized would have some degree of superiority with respect to resistance to cold weather over a starving butt naked Noob fresh from the coast. I guess when it is time to scale these features they will do so. However I have been getting quite efficient at building fires to warn up and that seems to work quite well. I now carry a fire kit and usually have raw meat that needs to be cooked so I just combine a cookout with a warming period usually in a remote shack or house. But that doesn't alter the fact that clothes a player has on should matter and should a T shirt wearing Noob or Re-spawn really be cold, shaking and heading towards hypothermia at high noon on a bright sunny day?

Devils tower 'the way we climbed it' was pretty easy. It was the first rout on the thing called Durrance 5.7. its one of the 50 classic climbs of NorthAm. the climb is about off-width, hand cracks mild to serious exposure but good pro. I do recommend devils tower whole heatedly...on the top an island in the sky what a view. I've never climbed in the Gunks but I hear some of the climbs are a real bitch and somewhat under rated by the first ascent parties. I hear that If something is listed as a 5.9 expect a 5.10a  I've never actually fought a fire. What we do is get rid of brush and dead trees that act as kindling for a major fire before a fire...fie break maintenance. In any case I love using a chain saw and getting free firewood. :P And at this stage of my life I would rather climb granite or quartz monzonite than screw around on lesser rock. The most miserable climb I ever did was on Sandstone in Red River Gorge Kentucky. On that particular climb the shit was rotten 2/3 of the time and finished with an over hanging crack section composed of shit rock that had the consistency of hardened sugar. Obviously the protection on that section was just about nil. and as a final kick in the mouth the crack led me straight into a thicket of poison oak. Zero Joy.

I know this is nothing new but........... Last night I witnessed my son exterminate a server hopper that was carrying enough clothing, gear, vests and ammo an extra AKM, several pistols magazines etc etc etc etc etc to completely outfit three players. He was checking out a Barracks in the military base South East of Vybor and he heard something and side stepped to the shower area and opened the door. A character was in the shower stall inert having just spawned. The guy got a bullet in the brain instantly. Obviously the guy camps in very close proximity to loot spawns or right on top of one and joins a sever that just reset loads up and then takes a powder. I doubt that the guy is creating any of that shit he had because the quality on many items ranged from worn to pristine. At the minimum including the 4 Vests he had 75 slots for gear in his layering system and 32 in the vests ( 107). Perhaps it is time to limit in some way how large of an object one can put into a pack. Having the ability to put a mountain pack inside a mountain pack and gain 2 rows of 5 slots each in the bargain is asking for server hopping hogs to emerge. I guess we really need to attach weight to an item and not just space. If that was so that guy would have gotten a Hernia trying to heft his multi-level pack around. Again nothing new here but it is time to address the problem. Note: He sure looked good lying face up and dead on the floor. :D IMAGE: http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag237/myemailxzbow/2014-09-23_00008_zps977f4e13.jpg

The infamous NCR. I've played a bit of all four iterations of Fallout. I have NEVER sided in with the NCR in Fallout New Vegas ; It's too much fun tossing that Nazi gas bag General Oliver off the dam ;)

The sad thing is that a good portion of the rip roaring fires in California are: Intentionally set by fire bugs, set by seasonal fire fighting workers looking for hazardous duty pay and overtime, lightning strikes, and most of all treehugger mismanagement that doesn't allow people to thin out the dead and dying saplings between the mature trees. Neglected Camp fires are not a major cause of Forest fires. Here is how I feel about Tree Huggers Please be advised that actually give my time to the state for free in clearing firebreaks for at least a few days a year while the punk hippies cry like punks for the lost wilderness. Fire is a natural process that the forests need to to remain healthy and procreate. As an example the BLM allows people to get a cheap permit and haul out as much firewood from the dead and dying trees as they want. The result is less major fires on heavily forested BLM areas than in National Forest, State Parks and Wild Life preserves. By treating every fire as a disaster that must be eliminated the under growth builds up over a number of years and creates a giagntic tinder box. Barbra Boxer said, "When the Space Aliens come down and see what we are doing to our planet what would that tell them about us?" That bitch is flat out dense, dumb and as loony as they come. [Edit] Rock climbing is a natural for you being a Geologist. Many moons ago when I first started rock climbing I took a course in Geology that included lots of field trips. Its nice to know exactly what you are climbing on  Beans? :beans: Here is an image as of un climbed 2000ft face in Nevada, Wheeler Peak's East Face. That it is un-climbed is apparently due to the Quartzite it is made of. Alhough the rock is hard and , offers good friction the Rock is removable in large hunks and natural rock fall is common. In any case the scree loaded ledge systems and character of the rock makes it unstable. Wheeler Peak East Face Close up. Looks nasty to me. I'm sure a guy like you that admires columnar Basalt would find considerable enjoyment climbing the hexagonal jointed columnar Phonolite (clinkstone) of Devils Tower
