I agree and I might add that from a cost effectiveness standpoint DayZ has been a hell of a bargain for 30 skins. the unique features of the game even in its unfinished state have caused me to see other games as simplistic garbage. Hell, the game can be without mercy. My fully equipped character that has thrived since the last wipe was a survivor many gunfights and Zed attacks. The Char succumbed to Dysentery (I guess) The doom laden message "I feel my Bowels rumbling" and rapid dehydration was a miserable experience but also a great one. Running all over the map looking for antibiotics, water purification tablets and wells while avoiding potentially unsafe water sources as the screen slowly faded to gray and finally black and the "you are unconscious" message was awesome. I like the game a great deal. And it has come a long way in a very short time. have some beans Beize :beans:

I think a quick solution would be to have a CR527 in .223 (5.56) call it the CR527A or whatever and allow a detachable scope like the one on the Longhorn on both weapons simple commercial guns. But I'll still gravitate to any of the assault rifles as a primary weapon over a small caliber bolt gun.

BigBadChuck Perhaps the complaining authority should make a more serious effort to get equipped. The fact that in the beginning it takes a little time and involves using your noodle to avoid players and Zombies should make the experience the most enjoyable part of the game. When you don't have jack shit you can do as you please. After the last wipe it took me a few sessions to acquire a Steyr AUG, a sawed off shotgun, a 1911, and a Longhorn, sufficient ammunition for all, some good threads, a hunting backpack and lots of other survival accouterments. Sure sometimes you come up empty on a 90 min run on a decent server and sometimes you hit a bonanza. The occasional milk run for naught is actually what makes it fun. Without a bad time you cant recognize a good time. Now with the possibility of getting a truck the gearing up is even easier and faster. LIke you I see no reason for crocodile tears.

I don't consider checking the map on occasion especially after changes and upgrades to be cheating in any way. At this point I remember how to get around the map and navigate from place to place remarkably well without using a map like most players that have been around for awhile. But I do love and rely on the compass and that isn't cheating either. Have some Beans :beans:

I agree and if I am not mistaken optimization for various processors is one of the last things that will be accomplished.....as with any other game.

I have an AMD FX9 6300 six core processor running at 3.5ghz with 16GB of RAM and an excellent Radion graphics card and I have never had a problem with any game.

Somehow my character has been glitched into shaking 100% of the time. Situation: I was exploring the little Fishing town of Berezhki on the east end of the map and looking for netting and burlap to make a Ghillie suit. Mission accomplished. On the way back west it was near dark and it started raining. Despite the fact that I was running and had allowed myself to de-hydrate a bit to build up some body heat I ended up shaking. I went into a barn and built a fire, wrung out all my clothing. Shortly I. stopped shaking but didn't move further from the fire until I was and no longer soaked or damp.. I then re hydrated but the instant I was up to a dark green hydration level I started shaking again. So I figured I might have a hidden bone injury or something. In the course of the next hour I: •made splints and applied them to no good effect, •injected morphine to no good effect, •ate some charcoal tablets to no good effect, •took some Antibiotics to no good effect. And no I haven't eaten any human meat. Unless someone has another suggestion the next time I log on I'll go onto a reliable persistent server stash my gear clothes and all and jump off a building and then haul ass back to my gear. I don't know what else to do. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

At no time did I ever get a message saying I was cold but the shaking was nasty But, Your method worked!!.Full hydration, 15 minutes of warming by a fire, the consumption of three hot deer stakes by the fire and slowly the shaking subsided and disappeared. I will also snag a Gorka Jacket, drink from ponds and streams only when necessary. Thanks again and have some more beans :beans:

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try. I was in fact cold/wet for a long time. It would be nice to have the ability to brew up some hot chocolate to raise your core temperature more directly. Have some Beans :beans:

Ok you funny little bitch I'll relax :P .
-
What's up with your snot nosed punk attitude you absurd little troll?.
-
As I said, I've never nibbled on any long pork but perhaps I'll try to find some heat packs and change clothing perhaps the clothing is showing up as dry but are glitched into being soaked THanks for the response, have some Beans :beans: :( If the next few attempts at a cure don't work I may have to hide my gear on a persistent server and take a dive off a tower :( .
-
That sucks man I know your pain..have some beans :beans: The problem is with all that jittering you are meat on the table for any asshole beyond 150 yards. Hey, did it ever clear up?
-
That was my thought but I got a 'you are warming up' prompt and then got a HOT prompt....and I was still shaking. Perhaps I'll try the fire thing again...couldn't hurt. :( thanks for the response.

something I had once was a mystery injury that never announced itself after an encounter with a few zeds in Vybor. I couldn't figure it out. On a hunch I made a splint, applied it and the excessive jitters went away. But if you have been running the jitters are caused by you ragged breathing and elevated pulse. Rest for a minute or so while laying down and...no excessive jitters.

I would be nice to catch the little pricks that execute these types of attacks and water board them until they give up their compatriots. After that they get tossed into a grinder turned into Generic dog food along with their brethren.

I think the introduction of a poncho or slicker, an E-Tool, and a compact hand fishing line would be excellent additions to the game . ..... And with the exception of the E-Tool the Items could be crafted . That's it...
-
In any case the Clint Eastwood flip of the poncho animations are a must with handgun, or sawed off shotgun Your asking yourself if I fired six rounds from my .357 or only five. To tell you the truth in all this excitement I forgot myself. So you have to ask yourself, "do I feel lucky?" Well do you Punk?

How about this umbrella Useful as a melee weapon for thrusting, firing an instantly lethal poison dart, keeping the rain off, and twirling.

Clearing this up: DayZ is NOT years afterwards
Xbow replied to bobotype3334's topic in General Discussion
No not really. My view is that who cares how long ago the plague hit? I don't. In just one year grass and saplings will be growing out of cracks in the sidewalks, asphalt roads would be developing cracks, and there would be no fresh fruit or vegetables around except what you pick off a tree, shrub, or dig up out of the ground. Lightening would be starting fires in the cities and towns and forests. People would be forced to hunt, fish and gather for their food very quickly. So what if fresh fruit in the houses is a tad unrealistic. I believe that stuff was placed there by the DEVs to tide a new player over while he assembles a kit. If it wasn't there you would hear bellyaching and crying about starving to death all the time. So as Accolyte said does it really matter? -
I admire your faith bro now you have to get the movement going on 1st person servers. I don't know which servers are really more or less friendly but it seems to me that 1st person servers lead to a bit more player paranoia because you can get surprised more often, are less aware, and more exposed. You can't get behind cover and check out an area without exposing yourself. But with the advent of tree suits I expect to see a renaissance for dick-weed yellow streak KoS snipers with nothing to do but try to whack other players from a hidden position.

I admire your attempt to push the game in a direction that it should be going. At one time I packed around extra shit t help people I gave assistance to a new spawn without incident and got attacked for my kindness twice (had to kill my attackers) and was killed once. 1 success, 3 failures. After I got killed playing Mother Teresa I was all about avoiding contact and blasting those that get too close all the way. For chance meetings with an armed player at close range I shoot first and ask questions later these days. It only takes a second to end up back on the beach for your kindness.
-
Your character was reset by a server that couldn't contact the central server. Sometimes you will log on to a server and you are suddenly back on the beach. Don't panic because as I said most of the time the server was unable to contact a central server so it generated or reset your character (there will a message to that effect). Action: log out instantly and try another server (populated) that you are more familiar with. This has happened to me many times and I have always found a server that can contact the central server. Warning don't play the reset character even a little bit or you may lose your previous fully equipped character permanently.

Yeah but actually I think you might have suggested it a bit before me. But, I am sure lots of folks have lusted for an E-Tool. In any case an E tool would be perfect multi tool for a survivalist. When extended it stores on the outside of the pack, when collapsed it stores in the pack (2 slots?), when used as a weapon it delivers damage similar to a machete, and you can dig up worms, edible roots, and onions with it as well as chop down brush for a fire. Yes it would be a great addition for DayZ  It would also be nice to be able to craft a few other things like: a small over the shoulder 6 slot leather possibles bag, and a six slot buckskin or leather jacket and many other items such as the coveted Wolf's head hat. Cave Man Gear! Have some beans :beans:

Your theory is of course absolutely plausible and I like that the question is being brought forward by you. However, I always imagined the disease to be closer to a form of meningitis where the Triune brain (lower brain) remains mostly undamaged and the upper brain is heavily damaged by the disease. If you survive the plague you become a zombie like creature. So the subject is left with only the Limbic system and the Reptilian brain.and is controlled by violent reptilian impulses that are the primary source of our survival instincts. Have some beans! :beans:
