OK MY BAD. But, humor and sarcasm doesn't always translate well across the wire. As for your age, the comment if taken seriously (as I in error did) indicates a youngster but since you said you were in fact joking I have no idea about your age ..Please accept these beans as compensation for my error.

Maybe we DO need a starting pistol... Damage: 0

Your Marklars are wise and true  But I must admit that I have dreamed of finding a rare set of brass or spiked knuckles (that don't exist) in the back room of a police station that beef up fist attacks a good bit...I love beating Zeds to death.

    Starting weapon

Which is of course as you have ascertained the beauty of the game. I got popped in the skull a good awhile back because i had my head up my ass when I decided to loot an isolated farm house. Someone benefited from the mountain of gear and ammo I had and I learned a valuable lesson..assume nothing. Getting myself back up to a fully equipped status took awhile and it was fun but I don't want to repeat it any time soon. I always try for an ax but a pick isn't bad and there is a certain pleasure in bashing a zombies skull in with a fire extinguisher. Your words are true so have some Beans.........

I agree 100 percent and then generally within a few hundred yards of your spawn point there will be: a fire extinguisher, a pipe wrench, a crowbar, a shovel or some other farm implement. Then you can apply the tried and true circle technique and dispatch zombies quite quickly if you score some head shots which is as you know quite easy to score on the mindless Zeds. But the big trick is if you are over matched against a Zed RUN and EVADE. But just think of how bold and brassy our 'starting weapon' needing little bo-peeps are! Should they get their starting weapon security blanket? Not only NO, but FUCK NO!

I'll be fucked if you want me to - in the middle of a fire fight - stand still like a lemon while I take my bag off, rummage through it for 15 seconds to bandage/reload. 10/10 bad idea." I couldn't agree more!!! On another point If I were to store four 40rnd polymer magazines in my high cap vest and got beat on a little bit by a few zombies before I eliminated them I would and have found that along with my vest jacket and trousers and just about everything in them are ruined including my polymer magazines and every round of ammunition they contain. That's crazy!! I can tell you that taking a body beating from Mike Tyson wouldn't destroy my ammunition, polymer magazines, cans of chow etc etc I have stored there. I might be in a world of hurt but my gear would survive. So unless you want to gut the whole carry system to represent the real life durability of every single piece of gear and clothing in the game forget this stupid idea that has been proposed. I store my mags inside protector cases that are inside my pack and my loose rounds in my ammo can that is also in my pack to make my most valuable possessions survivable because the current damage allocation system to your gear from melee attacks is completely unrealistic. CMAGs (Polymer) magazines are pretty tough and so are metallic cartridges. I tell you what, get a canvas bag and fill it with any kind of ammunition you want and tape it to a heavy bag and then beat on it with your bare knuckles and then after you apply some first aid to your hands see how many rounds of ammunition are ruined. Then do the same test with cans of beans, knives, and can openers etc and then fix up your knuckles again.

    Very is everyone at?

I agree P v P is certainly an exhilarating and enjoyable part of the game but not the whole game. Perhaps when the zombies become more formidable and spawn in greater numbers things will balance out a bit. However when Grimey Rick said "No player vs. player = no sales = no game." Who can rightly say he is wrong? Even a crew of twenty Zombies are stiffs and pushovers if you have a crappy shotgun, some shells, an Ax and some bandages. Go on a nearly empty server and you can march through the streets of Novodmitrovsk as bold as brass with impunity and kill as many Zombies as you desire without ever having your pulse rate climb. But you wont be so bold if the server has a load of 35/40 and around every corner could reveal a well armed player that has a kill zone staked out. In that situation you will bring your best game, keep your head out of your ass and finger on the trigger. And that directly relates to enjoyment of the game. Grimey Rick wrote, "I begin my banditry with a Mosin and a Child's Briefcase. It just gets more violent with the more people I kill and stuff that I loot from their corpses." That's horrible Rick! I never kill other players unless they wander into my mobile exclusion zone (if I see them) or if I want their gear. I figure that I am justified because better than 90% of the time when you bump into another player they will try to kill you...shoot first and ask questions later is the best policy because that's what most others play by. And of course there is no reason to deny yourself a little loot from their corpses, after all, they don't need it anymore. I don't consider myself a bandit, I'm just a guy that maintains an active defense Have some Beans Rick

    Sharpen your Axe (NEW)

Why not just introduce a two slot bastard file that will take a Damaged or Badly Damaged ax or knife up to worn? You could even make the file a perishable item with 10 uses. In any case chopping down a few trees shouldn't screw up an ax as fast as they get messed up now.

    Ultimate hackers fail :D

Well done hombre have some beans!! :beans:
  11. Xbow

    Really? Still this bad?!

I agree hackers have NOT ruined this game! In fact they are no more troublesome than a crew of shit flies buzzing around a turd. They have not ruined this game because despite their presence in small numbers the creators have built a game where a player meritocracy exists that is based on the players awareness and ability to take calculated risks to succeed. A game without freebies is rare. Another such game is America's Army if you are out of ammo you better stay low and find some because the tooth fairy isn't going to bring you any just like DayZ. No, a few hackers can not ruin that concept, they can only irritate the tiny number of players that encounter them. I have an ass load of hours spent playing the game and never encountered a hacker but I think I heard one once spraying 5.56mm ammo endlessly without reloading. My solution was to evacuate the area. Clearly just because someone has encountered a hacker and been killed and lost his/her stash is no reason to assume that we have a hacking pandemic in progress. And on another note I think there are about two million players so how many hackers would it take to disrupt the game for a significant number of those players? The answer would be AN ASS LOAD. I have no doubt that over time the influence hackers have on the game will diminish as loopholes are closed and defenses improved. And that takes time Hmmm I think I'll end my commentary and play some DayZ and not worry about hackers. What is the worst thing that could happen? I guess that would be getting killed and starting over. How horrible, I would get to re experience the joy of surviving to build a respectable inventory from nothing.

    Tree huggers, unite

As for myself I don't fish but don't tell me that you are the bozo that got ventilated there while I watched. What a coincidence...man that's funny

    Tree huggers, unite

The last time I went to Black Lake I went there to observe from cover. On that day I spotted two guys fishing peacefully. but all too soon an unseen party greased one of the fishermen the other fisherman hauled ass out of the area. I hunkered down into a hide position for a minute and then tried to get a look at the shooter figuring that he would expose himself to loot the corpse and I could zap him for his asshole-ery...but he never did show himself. So apparently his sole motivation was the pure idiocy of a cheap shot charlie. Watch going into an open field to cut up a deer or hog you've shot, that's some serious exposure. Bag your game close to a tree line or better yet in the forest its safer.

    Really? Still this bad?!

Don't let it get you down hackers are what they are, bottom feeding scum. But you know I thought they had the bottomless magazine hack corrected. You have to wonder about the mentality of the hackers, I mean what do they think they have accomplished? Hang in there
  15. Excellent Post Sir Chaingunfighter One thing the AKM's 7.62 x 39 projectile has that the 5.56mm lacks is MASS and that mass gives the AK a somewhat superior ability at moderate ranges to penetrate resistant objects like bricks, cinder blocks, body armor etc. And to enhance that penetration the Russians developed steel core ammunition that will ventilate all but the best body armor and chew up a cinder block wall especially when they are fired en masse from a RPD LMG. It seems strange but a slower heavier bullet that is dipping down into the transonic velocity range does horrendous damage when compared to its lighter high velocity cousin. Slower heavier slugs often shatter bones lengthwise as they pass through rather than powdering a short segment and then passing through. And you are correct with the M16A1 and certainly with the M16A2 the bulk of the problems with it disappeared but along with the addition of the forward assist, cleaning kits, the chrome plated chamber, and hard chromed bolt carrier there was an ammunition change. Before the trials between the M-14 and the AR-15 the US Army decided to change the M-16's ammunition by switching to an Olin ball powder as opposed to an IMR stick type powder. The gun as Stoner designed it has a Muzzle velocity of about 2950fps with 55 grain slugs The Army Ordinance board without understanding the Ramifications of their actions switched to the dirtier Olin Ball powder and increased the loading density to deliver 3125fps. That ammunition caused a sticky residue to build up in the gas tube and eventually in a humid climate led to serious stoppages. It took the introduction of an upgraded very clean burning stick type IMR powder to cure that. But the Army stood firm and demanded that the M-16 have a +3000ft per second muzzle velocity. The Russians became infatuated with the high velocity .22 cal notion and developed the AK-74 in 5.45 x 39mm. Lets face it the AKM and the M4A1 are just about equal in most respects including effective range with a small edge in lethality going to the AKM. In the game once they fix the AK's artificially small dispersion pattern to approximately what the M4A1's is things will be in balance. And because the Soviet block has always used corrosive primers with their 7.62 x 54R, the 7.62 x 39mm, (and the 5.45 x 39mm) so those weapons including the little CZ-527 bolt gun when it arrives. should need to be cleaned immediately after firing every time. Those corrosive primers are hell on a weapons internals and should factor in but if that is too problematic..screw it. Here is a Video that is pretty good with respect to the M-16's development and teething problems http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RG7NJmWOPC4 And to be fair here is one on the the AK series http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOUnoszwuJY And before I forget you look like you could use a can of Beans (I would offer canned peaches but we don't have that option yet). Note: DayZ is simply the best game out there IMHO

    Please dont balance loot spawns

I think you are correct. I am absolutely sick of cry-babies that want to make the game easy because they lack the energy and brains to hunt down and grab what is available and put it to use. Easy to find stuff like SKSs PU scopes and 7.62 x 39 ammo a splitting ax and a 9mm or .45 are just fine and dandy. Mr. parazight simply wants stuff he didn't earn and world really love an Xmas tree in the forest with lots of gifts under it so that he doesn't have to work too hard or risk anything scavenging for them. I don't think Mr Parazite is doing any testing at all he is just using that claim to beg for free shit. As a matter of fact I do like knocking over stupid over equipped presumptuous players that are up to mindless adolescent mischief...you know the type. And by the by the Devs have already tested all the items, weapons and gear etc etc in considerable detail and your sole function is the reporting bugs that you experience. I'll tell you what, dump all your best weaponry and find a shotgun and a hacksaw and test the hell your new Coach Gun at 50, 100, and 200 yards and then come back and cry that a weapon that is best used at 0 to 25 yards sucks at long range. I am sure the Devs will be fascinated by your detailed performance test. And there is a difference between an item not conforming to your unrealistic expectations and an item that is genuinely bugged. Zero-dispersion AKM? THAT is a legitimate bug.

    Please dont balance loot spawns

I agree man but are you being generous enough? Wouldn't Power armor be nice to spawn in? A months supply of hyper concentrated food would be swell, And a magic bag of holding with 300 slots is obviously needed, A Mac Chain saw with tungsten teeth would be nice Rosemary's Baby..how cool A M82 Barret and unlimited ammo would seem just about right The only game I have played in many, many months is DayZ SA my dozens of other games are growing digital cobwebs because even with its teething problems the DayZ concept of working for what you get beats the crap out of all of them. The perfect ensemble for a FNG to spawn in. And why not have a winged Monte Hall roaming Chernarus bestowing gifts on everyone in an extravaganza of free loot
  18. The fantasy accuracy of the AKM is an error that will be corrected soon enough since at present it has ZERO dispersion. I like things that have a connection to reality. Fact: In real life the average dispersion of an M4 is 2.5 minutes of angle and the average dispersion of an AKM is 6 minutes of angle. And by the by the AKM's flat base 123 grain .310 bullet has a slow muzzle velocity of 2400fps, a crappy Ballistic coefficient of 0.266 and goes bug fuk subsonic at just about 500 yards (460 meters) the standard SS109/M855 5.56mm's 62 grain boat tail bullet has a ballistic coefficient of .325 and a muzzle velocity of 2970fps (out of an M4) and doesn't go sub sonic until 800 yards At 500 yards the AKM delivers 371 foot pounds of energy and with a 250 yard zero and drops 79.4 inches. At 500 yards the M4 delivers 399 foot pounds of energy and with a 250 yard zero and drops 41.5 inches more powerful ammunition huh? Actually by different methods they have just about the same killing power but the 5.56mm bullet will remain more stable in flight for better than 250 yards longer than the 7.62 x 39mm bullet (that relates to accuracy hombre) You may find this interesting http://www.hornady.com/ballistics-resource/ballistics-calculator Putting a PSO scope on an AKM doesn't make it a long range threat? Actually putting that scope on an AKM is akin to puting a 44 DD bra on a flat chested babe and expecting her to grow into it. . Now as you put it a 'longer ranged scope' will not really improve the accuracy of a rattle trap weapon like the AKM that is launching ballistic turkeys OR make the M4 anything more than a low recoil squirrel gun. Sooner or later the SVD will come out and IF they actually get that right I'll use that exclusively. 7.62 x 54R one hit and lights out. 172 grain BT FMJ Muzzel Velocity 2640fps MZ energy 2662ftlbs. At 600 yards it delivers 1026 foot pounds of energy at 1639fps and it is still supersonic at 1000yards. I think it will be the most desired gun in the game IF they do it right. You are right about ONE thing for sure, the 7.62 x 39mm ammo is vastly more common now but as I have four 60 round magazines and four 40 round magazines and about ninety rounds of loose 5.56mm in my can I won't be needing to find any more helicopters for awhile. But when I get killed and lose my gear I'll be hunting for an AKM for some of the reasons you mentioned. In reality the AKM and the M4 are two peas in a pod, medium ranged weapons that fire intermediate cartridges. But good post Chaingunfighter have a can of Beans on me!!
  19. For all the reasons you mentioned it would be a good thing and go along way to changing the game from a P v P extravaganza of back stabbing and Banditry into a game where the Zombies present such a serious threat that teamwork among fellow survivors is important.. And along those lines when being attacked and hit by Zombies you should get a message say 10% of the time that says "You Have Been Bitten".and from that point on you are infected and would have to hunt for and consume anti viral drugs fast to kill the infection or die. Obviously the anti viral drugs would be like gold. Have you seen this: If you get a Zed or a group of Zeds to chase you, you can lead them over a steep incline and watch them shoot past you and do a face plant into the dirt and die instantly. One thing that should remain is that while a fresh Zombie might be a bit faster than you they are absolutely Dirt Dumb which is the way it is supposed to be.
  20. I like everything you said in that post hombre  I especially like the part about them incrementally losing their capabilities as they progress and the part about them recovering their capabilities if they can feed on an animal or human. Yes human blood and flesh should be a powerful curative and stimulant to them..the first choice on the Zed dining menu. From a safe distance I would like to see a pack of zeds beat an animal or human to death and feed off of it and then suddenly start fighting each other for first rights to the corpse. :P

    New player here!

I have never been prone to banditry my good man but your words of caution should be well taken by all because trust is a hard thing to come by. I have been killed too many times by bandits, jerks and dedicated KoS dweebs (as have we all). Essentially I trust no one these days and travel alone with my M4 ready for business always. To shoot first and ask questions later is a sound policy on chance encounters with all but harmless new spawns. It seems that every time I try to communicate with other players I end up regretting it. I see chronic bandits as leeches that are too lazy, dumb, and cowardly to hunt down gear, chow, weaponry and ammo on their own. Stay frosty and have some beans :beans:
  22. How about introducing spiked knuckles into the game that deliver 2x the damage of a naked fist? They would seem to be perfect for going mano a mano with a pus bag Zed or two.
  23. Xbow

    New player here!

Welcome aboard. The best thing about being a new-spawn is that you shouldn't give a hoot about getting killed..because you have nothing to lose. your first goal should be to get food, a pack water and some kind of weapon (shovel, pipe wrench, or fire extinguisher and the best melee weapons the fire ax or splitting ax. And don't feel the need to fight zombies when you are poorly equipped Running away should be your first choice. For me a good starting weapon has always been a sawed off shotgun but remember it is a very short range weapon and in the beginning remember to tear up some shirts for bandages. I dont know if you can catch diseases from un-purified water from streams and lakes so to be safe wells and catching rain in a bottle. And drink as much good water and eat as much food as you can to stay Energized, Hydrated, Healthy..you can absorb more damage in that condition. How to recover from blood loss? one way is to hide and then eat and drink your way back to being Energized, Hydrated, and Healthy. it doesn't take that long. And yes stay away from other players as much as possible as there are loads of pussies out there that take pride in killing poorly equipped players (as if that was a challenge). When I get attacked by a poorly armed new-spawn I generally run away but if they persist then a few shots in the body settles them down. GOOD LUCK Rule: The better equipped you are the more of a target you are to parasites that call themselves bandits. When you get equipped with a rifle with a scope be sure to kill any and all ass-wipes that you observe 'having fun' with new-spawns. When they get shot at their yellow streaks expand radically. Kill them depart unseen and then let the new-spawns pick their corpses clean..(just a suggestion).
  24. Obviously weather their hearts are pumping or not the skeletal muscles by virtue of their contractions and relaxations via movement provide pumping action for blood so in that sense I agree that once they have taken significant damage they should lose the ability to maintain blood pressure and replenish their tissues with oxygen and nutrients. For them it would be like being exposed to a blood agent like Phosgene (choking agent). But along with bleeding out the zeds are as dependent on their bones for locomotion as humans are so a Zed with broken legs should be nearly immobile and because they are as dumb as dirt they will through their inability to understand and treat their wounds exacerbate a simple fracture into a compound fracture and then bleed out. I am glad that George Romero's absurd head shot only method of dispatching zombies has been done away with by Dean Hall. That would only work if Zeds were confined to a slow shuffle and that would be boring.
  25. Your Logic is impeccable CloaknDagger.....have some Beans The fact that they have been infected by some strange virus is fine and dandy but has NOTHING to do with their 'Metabolic Operating System. Evidence suggests that once the infection runs its course they cease to be warm blooded critters and begin a new life as something other than human. Obviously If they can bleed out, they have blood pressure, and a required minimum fluid balance. And by inference they need to hydrate and eat whatever they can to maintain their metabolism body mass, and fluid level. But they apparently don't have a need for constant intake of protein, fats and carbohydrates and water. If they did you should see them chasing cows, deer, hogs, rabbits as well as people, hanging out near natural water sources and jamming fruit and berries down their gullets. Clearly In a world where humans are vastly outnumbered by Zeds there wouldn't be enough human game around to maintain their population if they were warm blooded. Incidentally a cold blooded animal can get by on a very small intake of food compared to a warm blooded one. So if they are infected and warm blooded like the freaks in 28 days later why aren't they starving to death?
