Just shock damage not blood loss, Health or fractures. But yes it instantly reduces your shock damage to zero. But for blood loss you must eat and drink until you get the healing notice and then keep eating and drinking until you get the stuffed notice. OR get someone to blood bag you (obviously). Note: After you get the stuffed notice don't eat or drink until it goes away or you could vomit everything you've eaten and imbibed. Blood....Health....Shock (start at 2min and 30 seconds)

 Reminds me of a couple of lines from the film 'Heist' when Bobby Blane (Delroy Lindo) said words to the effect, "I saw a man hit three times in the center of his chest with a .45 but the Bible that he always carried stopped all the bullets, and had he had another bible in front of his face he would be alive today."

I agree its just Jim dandy the way it is so I say don't fix it if it isn't broken. Besides that you shouldn't have time to have a 'bad player experience' from a graying out screen, you should instantly go into an escape, avoid, eat and drink mode until you are in a safe place, stuffed, and the color returns after a few minutes. And in any case if you have a gray screen the next hit will very likely cause you to take a dirt nap until you re-spawn. You should stay in a stuffed condition as often as possible to build up reserve strength that will ward off a gray screen and make recovery from a beating faster. A good plan is to eat as you go and stay on a see-food diet of pure gluttony. I carry most of the food I find in my gut and maintain only a small reserve in my pack for those times when I do get clobbered a bit. And don't be afraid to shoot up an EPI pen as it will reduce the shock damage you have taken to ZERO instantly. But you will still have to eat and drink a-plenty to build your blood supply.

Dayz Standalone is lacking a huge core piece in my eyes.
Xbow replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
Well said Barnabus!.............. Beans sir? DayZ is an open survival game where you are free to survive or perish as a result of YOUR actions. I have no need of being assigned a linear quest and plot line people that require that shit should play Skyrim or Echo The Dolphin. In DayZ with NavMesh, fast spawning hard hitting zombies and the KoS gang and lone snipers it is an adventure every step of the way. In such a hostile world Its an adventure just to enter a town to gleen some supplies and medicine from what remains of Chernarus. So I make my own Quests as Banabus does: get some peaches, get some more ammo get some water, get some morphine get some Epinepherine get some water purification tablets kill other players that get in my way remain unseen by other players As Barnabus basically said staying alive and healthy is the PURPOSE. Eveything that Barnibus said is correct Chepaco Said_________________________________________________________________________________________________________ We are PLAYERS, not developers. I usually turn a blind eye to the "Alpha-ers", but this I can't. I agree that we did pay money for a game knowing there would be major issues, and that one of the purposes of an early access game is to report issues. I get that. But we're PLAYERS, not developers. Me, along with 99% of early access players, bought this game because we want to PLAY it, not develop it. Yes, we'll help with our reports and suggestions, but I'm not a developer. I don't know a single thing about game development. We paid money to PLAY a game... We did NOT invest in the development of a game, because if that's all I cared about, I would have purchase stock in their company _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Come on man get in the game!!! •you didn't buy a game you bought a work in progress that will become a game. •When you buy a game in Alpha you have become a bug reporting system for the developers first and a player second • No 99% folks that paid for the Alpha did so because they wanted to have a bit of fun and fully understood that what they bought was not a finished product and do not feel the need to get on their hind legs and whine about the GAME being problematicand unfinished. •Have you ever read the disclaimer ? • YES you did invest in the development of the game even if you don't understand that simple FACT. Folks that cry about their 30 bucks make me sick I have played standalone for almost 800 hours making my cost to play $0.0375 per hour. WOW! how expensive!!! -
Ain't that the truth!! I never used to wear a helmet and the biggest reason I wear one is chair jumping surprise Zombie attacks but freshspawns can be some stupid mothers. they get close, throw up their hands and I gun them down without mercy. On the other hand If they say they need help and its safe to give it I do, a Machete some chow whatever as long as they keep their distance. As a rule I stay away from other players as much as possible as it seems as if the ratio of regular Joe's to assholes is about 1 regular Joe to five assholes. Another Question: Should the developers assign new statistics to the Ballistic Helmets to give them the same resistance to shock that a Hard Hat has (5000)? I vote YES because a Kevlar Helmet has a vastly tougher outer hide and at the very least an equal shock absorption system.
-
Can you come up with a better 'bible' than this unofficial one? http://dayz.gamepedia.com/DayZ_Standalone_Wiki if so please divulge your source. I don't think there is an official bible. So we will have to subsist on unofficial sources. someone says that there is a helmet test on youtube that includes impact and ballistic damage to all types of helmets but I haven't found it. Onward....... How many of you folks think that in RL a Kevlar Helmet doesn't protect its user against shock damage? I for one do not believe that bullshit. As an 1812 (19k) I have seen many, many accidents down at the tank park on field ops and RW ops that Involve a human head and an object of some sort. Example: a 120mm gun tube. People walk into gun tubes all the time when the tube is dipped over the side to drain fluid out of the tube after being punched. People sometimes don't see it and walk into it even if you have a red rag hanging from the Muzzle. The guy without a Kevlar, tankers Helmet, or Hard Hat will often be on the ground and knocked silly and will soon be on his way to sick bay to be checked out for a concussion but a guy with head protection suffers Zero damage. Take a look at the pads in this current Kevlar helmet.. the idea that the do they do Nothing to absorb shock damage is absurd. A good Kevlar helmet can stop a 9mm bullet at close range (The helmet is ruined). A 9 mm bullet is packing appx 400foot pounds of energy (equal to a solid punch in power but delivered onto a tiny area compared to a fist). Hit location is everything hence many people wearing Kevlar that are hit in the helmet by projectiles or objects are not knocked unconscious or even seriously unbalanced (but may suffer whiplash). But then again some are seriously KO'd or killed. Take your best punch at a 1970s vintage well padded East German steel helmet and see if your hand is still intact and what effect your punch had on the target.

There is nothing to fix Zombies are supposed to appear in significant numbers and be dangerous. As it is zombies can see you at 100 yards and zero in on you and hear your shots and zero in on you at about 200 yards. However the second generation zombies that you create by killing the ones that have aggro-ed in on you can see you 600 yards. Since it would probably be impossible to have a big crowd of zombies spawned in one place rapid re-spawning is the logical way to simulate a bigger mob of zombies.
-
I agree. When they have the system up and running you will have to hunt for one a bit but there will be no real problem. and with 5.56 ammo coming from AK 101 ammo spawns and crash sites both more ammunition will be available for us than before. The Dev team is making steady progress and we should high five them for it. R.I.P M4A1 ? Bullshit! But I hope this causes the peanut gallery to forsake looking for M4A1 rifles, hardware, ammo and attachments. It will make the search efforts of the faithful more productive.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Xbow replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Fresh spawns can be obnoxious! I killed a well equipped player that took a poke at me with his mosin (thank goodness he didn't have a scope). I moved up to check out the corpse and see if i could get something off of him that I needed and two fresh spawns moved in and tried to rogue my kill. I warned them off and told them to step away from my kill. One of them flipped me off and the other tried to circle around me with his hands up so I sprayed the both of them down with one short burst each...assholes! All I needed from my kill was the guys compass and some ammo. I would have left them the mosin and 1911 and the rest of his gear and chow. I took what I wanted and hid the body so no one would benefit except me. DayZ fact, "seldom does a good deed go unpunished." -
A friend and I had a fantastic zombie experience for the first time
Xbow replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
Pardon me, but that is bad advise bro! Belting Zombies with axes does not guarantee stealth or Zed re-spawns anymore than using an Amphibia S on a Zed guarantees it. Further up the thread baustchi recomended a couple of WOBO videos on the nature of DayZs Zeds. ..enjoy. ---- The wildest thing WOBO suggests is that 1st generation Zeds can see about 100 meters and hear your gunfire at the same distance. When you kill a first generation (game spawned) Zed by any method a second generation Zed (That you created by killing the first) steps up to the plate to take a whack at you. And, this Zed can see you at 600 meters and is locked in on you. And you have a 5 second window to kill the zed facing you if you fail the 5 second test another will spawn and come after you and then another, and another and another... And wear a good motorcycle helmet, a good shirt. a sound vest and don't get caught kneeling down because a Zeds strike will hit you in the head. Thats how Zeds get some of their one hit kills on players....good luck. -

I don't run with a group and of late I've some great Zed slaughter sessions and some desperate retreats. I stashed a CZ527 in a feed shack that I didn't have a magazine for and headed over to the Tent City at the NWAF with My SKS. I made it through the first row and found a pristine PU scope and lots of 7.62 x 39. I skipped the second row with wooden floors because they aren't spawning anything at the moment, on the last row I found three CZ527 magazines stacked in a corner!!! The second tent yielded an Ammo can, in the next tent two CR75 magazines and two boxes of 9mm ammo. Thats all I could take so I hauled ass back to the feed shack to get the CZ527 and organize my gear. Suprise!! On my way out I had to shoot my way through to the north road against seven zombies that came at me very quickly. When I got through the gate and up the North road a bit I looked back over my shoulder and one female Zed, a hopper, and two military zombies were gaining on me I stayed a bit ahead of them until I got to a bend in the road and turned hard right with the zombies just behind me and led them down a steep incline. I slowed to almost a crawl as you always do when heading down a steep incline and three of the bastards zoomed past me and did face plants and slid down the hill (I didn't get a scratch). Only the hopper made it down the hill in one piece and once I got to the bottom I used the axe on that SOB. I have known that zeds cant negotiate steep terrain for a long while but now that they are locking on to you better I think that rather than shooting them I'll look to lead them to their doom if at all possible. I think zeds key on: gunfire, other zeds getting hit by your slugs or a melee weapon impacts, and their vision. Note: I've used the Amphibia S on zeds and their buddies still show up to get some payback. I think that being busy with zeds will slow down the KoS game and knowing that they will show up in numbers will also slow down PvP in general. Zombies, may they spawn in ever greater numbers! Of course this doesn't bode well for unarmed re-spawns and new-spawns. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Zeds are fun even if you get chased and hit more often and ocassionally get killed by a pack of them. Some Zeds are faster than you but none of them can turn tighter and maneuver as well as you. Try this old zed removal technique it still works just fine (I tested it today) that somone else mentioned . Get the zeds to chase you and lead the zed or zeds to an incline that is steep enough to slow you down and watch them sail past you and do face plants into the dirt and die and then watch them slide downhill ..its hilarious.. You made no noise, you didnt kill them and as someone mentioned the town is now pretty clear for looting. Come on guys we should fear Zeds to a significant degree more zeds is balancing the game and taking the emphasis off of the KoS and rogue sniping bullshit. If its any consolation I haven't seen any zeds climbing ladders or metal stairways in fire stations. However I think we should be able jam doors shut with sticks to keep them out of a temporary safe haven. But with some effort they should be able to break in. -
The problem with those hack using wankers is that even after all characters and gear are wiped they will still have the ability to take a shit on the new landscape quickly and with new. and harder to get rid of hacks. . And agree half the fun is regearing. When you have nothing except a machete, a kids backpack and a few sodas you are free to have a blast and get crazy. And I don't like the idea of players having persistent secret caches and bases that they can run to, to gear up instantly after they get killed. the whole point of the game is survival not playing dress up and obsessing over gear. Too bad they can't come up with a systems that plants a tall non removable glow in the dark red dunce cap on anyone that has a piece of hacked gear in his/her inventory.

I am not particularly impressed with the CZ527 because: •There is no scope available for it (something like a PU scope with Weaver rings would have been swell) • the zombies are massing a bit more(it is not at all uncommon to he assaulted by four or five of those buggers in a crappy little town • it has a small 5 round magazine (I only had one magazine) and it has a slow reload especially if you have only one magazine. •when you switch to your primary rifle it ends up on the ground (naturally). Then you have to find it which isn't always easy For those reasons I just tossed the one I had into a ditch that is choked by tall grass and brush. I was using it as an in hand weapon that allowed me to keep my M4A1 on my shoulder to conserve 5.56ammo. An SKS is a better choice than a CZ527 for an in hand weapon if you plan on packing two long guns but as I have learned that is a pain in the ass. The CR527 should be as common as the double rifle as it would make a good starting rifle for a player that needs to rebuild his arsenal and gear inventory.. I am now on a quest to find a Longhorn. I can store that bugger in a protector case along with 40 rounds of 7.62 x 54r ammo and put it on a hot key. For me I think the magic combination will be: [1] M4A1, [2]Longhorn (I have a .357 in slot 2 now), [3] CR75 [4] .22 Amphibia S Note: I wish they would allow a scope for the .357 as that would probably beat the hell out of a Longhorn because of its 6 round capacity. So what are your thoughts on the CZ527 and how is the Longhorn?
-
I see that you are getting a little upset and have retreated to the realm pure insult. I guess your inability make your case is influencing your behavior. Evidence? Why don't you get an SKS strip clip poll going because it is on you to show me that 10 round strip clips are so rare that few have them( I have a number of them but no SKS). I did not say that the strip clips are a common item that can be found anywhere but you will need to keep your eyes open if you are to have any chance of finding a few of them....good luck. B)
-
Wow!! that's a real news flash!!! You said nothing about strip clips and simply stated that to load an SKS you must go to the inventory. Excuse me but I can only comment on what you write or do you suggest that I fill in the blanks for you?
-
I have already answered you concerns in 1, 2 & 3 but I will spell out for you a bit better next time my bad I guess 1) Who said anything about missing targets? that is your faulty assumption. I seldom miss zombie targets but tell me if the number of targets exceeds the number of rounds in a magazine and you have to switch weapons immediately because the zeds are close and that is quicker than inventory access is that user-error? Or is it a limitation of the system? 2) Hmmmmm.....you said, "which(SKS) still requires inventory access to reload". No sir, the SKS does not require inventory access to reload if you have 10 round strip clips (which most SKS folks do) hitting "R" will do it just fine. You see the strip clip operates as a magazine and may even be topped off like a magazine once it is out of the rifle and a fresh 10rnd strip clip loaded. I thought you were familiar with the SKS. 10/10 0/10 FULL EMPTY Note: While I shit canned the CZ527 I retained the magazine just as I have retained four SKS strip clips.

"Glad you got offended somehow." Amused is more like it. 1) No if I meant that there would never be a scope for it I would have said exactly that boss..but I didn't. 2) I have not been hit or injured by zombies while using the CZ527. However I have shot the weapon dry and had to change weapons to get the last one or two. The last incident was in the upper floor of a house in Vybor when three zeds silently negotiated the stairs in persuit of me (I had just dusted three in the street and hadn't had time to top off my one mag before they showed up. IN any case I am glad the Nav mesh is working, zombies are dumb but not so dumb that they shouldn't be able to climb up stairs. 3)Yes actually it was more an indictment of the idea of packing two rifles than it was a slam on the CZ527. I packed an AKM as my in hand weapon for a long while but I traded it and 4 30 round mags for five 40 rnd M4A1 mags (full) and three morphine injectors. Then almost immediately I found the CZ527 and a magazine. 4)I have no doubt that you can shoot well enough in a game or in RL for that matter but I don't think anyone can clam 100% accuracy as you have. As far as the CZ527 is concerned I think the SKS is a better choice for an in hands gun (IMHO) but that may change when the scope comes out. But as it is, its not worth the trouble 'to me'. In fact I don't plan on packing more than one long gun at any time in the future. I just read that someone actually wants something that amounts to a Golf Bag to allow a player to carry up to three long guns! I thought, "now there is a guy that has never been on a forced march with body armor, a 40lb pack, an M16A2, gas mask, four canteens etc etc etc. Encumbrance is a huge factor in RL when on the move and should be in game as well. There should be a benefit for traveling light and a penalty for thinking you're one of Marius's Mules. Inception. In the interest of amity I edited the post in question.
-
1) Errrr..There is no scope for it a present sport and that is all I said. 3)There is no contradiction. [edit] 4)Show me where I said dropping a long gun you draw another one was unique to the CZ527 ** I'd be fine with the limit on guns being set to 1 rifle and one pistol. [edit]

For immature piss ants that you suspect get a charge out of fucking around with other players I suggest shooting them on sight taking their shit and then letting them bleed out. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Xbow replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I may have a solution, Get an amphibian pistol and a couple of magazines plenty of bullets and exterminate the walkers runners mIlitary zombies and hoppers. What makes melee tough is when lag and desync become a factor. .22 cal hits required Female and Male Zombies...2 hits to the body or one to the head. Hoppers...2 hits to the body or one to the head Military zombies about three to the body and possibly two to the head Other players might miss the sound of the Amphibia and the zombies vector in on the location of a zombie that just got greased with any weapon as much as they do on the sound of gunfire. I THINK. In any case mixing it up with zombies with an ax can be dangerous if lag or desync is present. Ever wonder how you get hit after a zombie is already on the deck? I think Its because the zombie isn't where you think it is.. Of course I could be wrong but since I no longer melee with zombies unless I absolutely have to I almost never get hit..My rule: "get them as far away as possible or run away." -
What a stupid Idea, It would lead to more hacking, server hopping, banditry and more stupid shit than you can shake a stick at. And it might also cause a good number of folks to abandon the game. If you want to be heard think of something worthwhile. I have been playing standalone since it came out almost 800 hours worth and hackers and bottomless mags have never influenced my game in any significant way.

I was hoping for a purple one myself.

Dream on hombre you will have to be satisfied with what was available to former Warsaw pact countries at the time of the apocalypse. But be that as it may mountain and hunting back packs should come in OD Green and camouflage. And in any case a smersh tactical vest and butt pack is apparently on the way. I admit that it would be nice to shit can the butt pack and use a hunting back pack instead. .
-
And I Imagine that the clean cut hair styles and impeccable grooming would fall out of fashion rather quickly and be replaced by hack jobs with a sharp knife for the hair and mud packs on the body and face to keep the bugs off. A general lack of concern for appearances would prevail. And without whet stones and something like a razor strop saving any part of the body would almost certainly fall out of fashion quickly. But even with those facts basic Sexual dimorphism is something that should be taken into account. Grimey Rick said, "They'll be LONG into the apocalypse before any of those girls sees a cock." while you may have meant it as a Joke that can not mask the the fact that your Marklar is both wise and true. Beans? .
