What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
q.S Sachiel replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
preeeeeeeeeeeeety sure there's a whole thread / forum page for 'banned by BE appeal' on the BI website... this http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?145530-Globally-banned-by-BattlEye-See-this also, already linked it here, but to call down on the gods of itoldyouso (despite BE saying they're not lifting your ban... and please do explain as you appear to have a few fans here...) http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/204647-infinite-magazines-reportable/?hl=%2Binfinite+%2Bmag post #20. But wow, what a DayZ soap opera moment. Did he really do it, how does this implicate his supporters and character witnesses, WILL BATTLE EYE EVER KILL ALL THE CHEATERS? find out next week, same bat place, same bat channel! -
open palm that shit. Closed fist is really only going to work on flesh. Like you said with the whiplash, if you're going to want to hurt someone in that you're going to target the joints, so push that head to the side/backwards in as violently and fast as you can and you've got a crawler. tbh i'd reckon the splitting axe would do more damage (or would hit more consistantly) blunt vs sharp on shaped armor... i'd take blunt every time. That's roughly 3kg at the head and however much in the handle plus the weight and torque you put into the swing... impulse be damned, your head is going to move out of the way with some force. At the end of the day it's a gamey mechanism so it doesn't really matter what does what, but i like where you're going with the stats part, informative and enjoyable.

;s i thought arma3 was shift to sprint. Must accept double tap input also. Now all we need is a vault action for arma3 ala dayz and we're set. Also, BI forums are terrible. Just signed up to put in some troubleshooting issues and can't find the post button in the terribly ugly design of the page... That and i think it's not there. alas, a story for another time.

I was looking far and wide for a downfall dayz hacker edition, but there aren't any out there, at least that i can find, that show the kind of message i can only convey in link form. I'd call you fascist, but even hitler doesn't have a view on your level when it comes to punishment it would seem... -

you talking about the convo regarding infinite mag hacks? Where people misinterpreted the devs saying 'someone may not know what 10e12381928371298379187312897 means'? this? http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/204647-infinite-magazines-reportable/?hl=%2Binfinite+%2Bmag -
so does this mean that doubletap W while running still brings you to a standing sprint, or a crouch/prone fast mode? Noticed before any of this that running always made me stand run and thought that was default, but if they're introducing a fast mode for each stance ala arma3 then would be good to know.

Yes and No. If you're running around in a red fireman's outfit you will draw attention. But as said above, it's not particularly effective a defense as you need to lay in the right environment to make your tone blend, and there's a varied environment tone throughout cherno (brown forest, green/yellow grassy hills etc..). Colour is less important than is breaking up your body profile, or restricting the view of potential/enemies from a location.things like boots/helmets/hands and gun are readily recognizable while your side, back or lowered weapons are less so. It's not going to make you the predator. You're still going to need to obscure your vision to target as much as possible through not running along ridges, open fields and sticking to denser cover that reduces the snapshot of players looking at you. That said, hiding in conifers/shrubs is much easier if you have the appropriate tone, but as with any game out there, if you move (sometimes less movement is worse than more) i'm going to see you. I've got a keen eye for it, and i'm guessing lots more of the FPS crowd do too. And as above, if you're playing on ultra low graphics, you're at an advantage to spotting people as they stand out like dogs nuts. Remember when you used to be able to turn 'smoke grenade effects' down to V-low on counterstrike and see through the smoke? yeah, that kind of easy. All this said and done, I found the green raincoat in ruined condition to be a better camo than most mil gear as it's less bright and more neutral with the grey and red tears through it. Also, for beach running, nothing beats beige caravan shorts, red/grey hoodie and yellow checked bandanna. You'd be surprised how easy it is to blend into the dead grassy fields and shrubs with that ghetto kit.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

get a bic pen, snap off the plastic 'tooth' found running along length of lid, jam as a lever/spring between 2 & W -
all in time for dinner!

Mosin-Nagant "Obrez" Modification? [Torchia Tweet]
q.S Sachiel replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty much onboard with this. There's just about nothing justifying me cutting down a mosin, unless i'm really just starting out (and who finds hacksaws anyway). If it's a 1+mech=2 process, then you're sacrificing either a bayonette (redundant as can opener does job and bayo doesn't skin atm) or range for what? If it takes up 4-8 slots in your gear than maybe, but if you're in need of a quick CQC weapon and you've got mosin, either pistols out or drop your LRS and go ironsights. I get the point in 'real life' for if you're robbing a 711 or want to be particularly concealed in your assault/defense, but people out there in Cherno aren't going to stop and gawk because they can't see your gun, they're just going to shoot at you from a range you'll find it harder to hit them at. I see no purpose in sacrificing flexibility of the mosin here, but it would be cool if it's a completely new weapon, and variation with same ammo type should be only a good thing.... -
that 1 bullet hole will be small on one end, and have a whole lot of hip, organs and whatever contents of your backpack it dragged through you on the other side. It should be a little larger there too. Your blood is going to ruin stuff too like your bandages, may be an issue for ammunition, and open food etc. TBH i don't have too much of a problem with this, as when i get hit, it's usually death anyway. Also need to keep a degree of difficulty and risk involved in confrontations. Attackers risk losing both their gear if hit, and the gear on the player, and also gives more reward to skill/headshots. I'll admit it's not totally realistic, but then i've never been shot while carrying half a walmart on my back.
-
? I'm confused. I take my shot and move in to watch the light bleed out of your eyes until they're just two wet marbles stuck in what's left of your face. But if you want a real fight, 'man to man', go stand in that field over there, I'll send someone down shortly to say hello.

*Hardcore and Regular servers on stable branch save an independant character, which you can move between at will. Moving from one to the other will not carry across your items. *Experimental branch servers are frequently reset, meaning your gear gets wiped, regularly. *While logging out, you are vulnurable until the game removes you from it (~30seconds or so). Make sure you remove yourself from danger and log out in safe places, or your empty character shell is able to be killed, even if you've exited to desktop (also includes task manager and altF4 quits). *On server restart, you sometimes miss out on stuff you may have picked up as server doesn't recognize you as having taken item prior to it shutting down. Rarely in my experience, the server can 'miss' items you may have picked up if you loot then log out within a short time frame. I tend to wait a few minutes after looting important things if i gotta log. *Alpha - sometimes you may get randomly reset or occasionally die without having known how / why. As a more general answer to your question... if you are killed, it will say "you are dead" in white text over a black screen. Can't miss it ;). You can also be "You are unconscious" which means you may wake up (or die, depending on what put you out) after a random amount of time. You can either stick with it when unconscious and hope to regain composure, or respawn (forfeiting your life and starting over). Good luck, have fun and we'll see you on the business end of our guns soon enough :)

Dayz was once described as a social experiment...
q.S Sachiel replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
They could have proved the same thing with an anonymous setup forum system where you create avatars of yourself and can give no/misleading/limited/asmuchasyouwant personal/bio information about yourself but.... wait... <.< >.>. Yup, did that too. Not sure particularly how it's a social experiment, but I'd wager that despite most people here saying that 'people are cowards' 'wouldn't do this etc'... if this were a real anarchic environment, most people would do it just because "had to know how it feels". @ "no we're good people" people / "they wouldn't do this because I refuse to see the beast in people" people: Had a legal studies class in Uni once where the lecturer asked who would do "X" (from petty theft to murder/rape) if the rules weren't in place. Put up your hand. no body puts up their hand. They aren't withholding their hands because they wouldn't do these things, but because they're afraid of their peers' responses around them in the current system. It's everyone else that keeps people in check, other people's expectations and moral compasses focus peer pressure upon you to behave in a given manner. If you take away that peer pressure, remove 'law', reduce the population and give power to the individual they will do as they see fit. If there were no historical/current expectation that 'X' was wrong then what moral or peer response would prevent you from doing this? Now i'm not saying that everyone's just going to go out raping and murdering, but I think you give the human race far too much credit. Ultimately I still see us as wild animals, however domesticated. We already see psycohpathic or sosociopathic behavior in our civilised countries, and developing nations have no qualms about surviving at whatever cost. How about war-time? What happened when facist governments decree one class above another? One race above another? Riots and pack mentality? Black Friday sales? (rare) circumstances where a paedophile or sexual predator is identified within a community after serving their sentence and is ostracised, targeted and berated out of town? We're animals, we're fucking nuts. Particularly in a group, give us an excuse and we'll rip a person to shreds. So yes, 1 in 10 people could fire a gun in WW1 when they were shipped over the other side of the world, but again I'd wager that if a manageable apocalyptic event happened in your own backyard, most people would not be 'cowards' or simply allow themselves to starve out. They may not be effective at managing their survival or going about destroying lives like Bandits/KOS do in DayZ, but I don't anticipate this would be for lack of trying. Dogs may be a different story, with many bred to the point of unnatural traits not condusive to survival / competition (weak teeth, genetic flaws mid-late in life, lower intelligence) but go to the poorer parts of the world and see how quickly an animal turns wild. Cats are particularly good at this, though they're pricks out and out whether raised inside a house or not, they are killers and built for it. Man is no different. Anyway, it's a moot point. Either you're right and most people are cowards (meaning the pricks and 'brave' murderous rapists are the ones who would inherit the earth, not the meek) or the 'good' and moral people turn paranoid or group up to destroy everyone and everything that poses a threat to them. Majority be damned, if anything like this ever happens i'd be expecting the 'server population' to be 40/250km^2 within a few months anyway ;) -
Dear gentlemen who planned to kill me
q.S Sachiel replied to chapofjosh's topic in General Discussion
Dear John letters are always so sweet -
I always had the idea it was going to be throwing in some plugins/updates to the current build, but interested to see how it turns out. Natural Selection- as one game from birth - started out as a source development, then went to a proprietary engine but the change was well before public access* then there was also Prey and DnF, but we'll leave those right out... If it's a sizable overhaul, wondering about how the patching/changing would be done. Hope BI's taking advantage of full steam ahead, and no silly business like porting CD keys across to a 'new' product. Or even as a development stage if the code will just be ripped from current build into 'new' as development progresses then on final release the 'new' engine debuts or if we'll get a taste early (pre-beta, or even gold if they want to really lock down security). Still reckon it will be mostly like some have said, gut unnecessary or insecure parts and add functionality to taste. *preety sure, though think they had some pre-release beta.

Shotgun Spread fixed, but new reload bug
q.S Sachiel replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
haven't tried sg since .45 and this may only fix the symptoms but: did you try dropping the sg and picking back up then ejecting shells? Not too useful for combat if you gotta do it every time, but occasionally works for my pants etc, or when parts are bugged ie attachments on weapon. -
Funny aspect of the new ragdoll effect:
q.S Sachiel replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
just capped a z in a supermarket in zeleno... it popped out of the ground like a zit under pressure. marvellous. -
TBH i'd rather see the complexity go into the arrows. Appropriate tools to make variable sized heads / shaped heads. (pick mines rock & shards, screw driver refines to poor, hammer & screwdriver can get a better finish / nastier/broader head etc... kill chickens for feathers to increase accuracy to arrows / fletch some screaming arrows kill animals for sinew / grease to maintain weapon ala weapon repair kit. Could also upgrade psi of string with better materials etc... Server spawned arrows (particularly bolts imo) are bread and butter / best quality for standard use, but ability to fashion niche role ammunition from scratch. if the time taken and animations is an issue, just make your bow, take a 3 hour break and use your imagination as to what your char is up to. It's a survival sim sure enough ,but this isn't second life people :(

Not sure if breaking TnC by reccomending games, but Arma 2 or 3 have offline / SP mode. Then there's all the Tom Clancy games since forever that are CT/Mil simulators.

This thread should have been a "You're not a real survivor unless ... <insert action here>" thread. personally, you're not a real survivor until you've built a raft out of players with rigamortis and sailed off to mother rasia.

Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?
q.S Sachiel replied to Zed's Dead's topic in General Discussion
don't kill hopper zombie. is unicorn of dayZ! but honestly, these guys are hillarious. Reminds me of the good old days when they used to run at you in the wierd flailing arm mode. And whatever happened to broken neck zombies that slide along on their bellies like snakes. I refuse to accept your 'final solution' for the much loved hopper. In all seriousness, they're so rare and just as broken as everything else imo, not to mention they hit like pansies... and if you're dying to zombies, dear god. -
In a survival game with severely limited resources, WTF...
q.S Sachiel replied to tootights (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
you could always try for contextual attacks such as seen in dead-island (knock down zombie, then press 1 button to kerb-stomp) or run+attack = barge attack. but i'd rather it just be dukes/fistycuffs because real men stand and fight! -
the new girls/robots/crackheads in town
q.S Sachiel replied to DropBearChick's topic in General Discussion
yeah looks like the AA draw-in you occasionally see when tree foliage etc isn't in your FOV. Like the game isn't prioritising those pixels to be drawn. Noticed too that the body tone is identical across the 3 while the face tone is individual. Mid looks like an indian / west asian type from the looks of it. Maybe hispanic. -
and people say aliens built the pyramids... But how do (did) you have the helmet and gasmask on :O
