except that you'd still need to get into the spawn points to use them on the campers who either will shoot you on the way in, or prevent you from leaving like a good guard dog. All the while you don't have your FB/gren until you penetrate their defenses anyway ;)

just did a quick catalogue search, but won't link here in case of advertising: avg range 0-60yd, with majority killshots being taken under 20yd, with reccomendation to fire within 40yd. Some websites claim that velocity & energy start slipping rapidly at 30yards or so. OK, so now * 350grain arrow/bolt with 355FPS(feet per second) @ 240lb force at the string. Assuming all that force is transferred to the bolt and doesn't degrade until 30yd. Even 240lb/in^2 is a LOT of force. A slightly broadened arrow is still going to transfer that energy to you at the TIP, which is a very small point. It's going to punch right through you and drag the head along with it. that's just one example, i know there's variability in force, though most of the speeds i saw was around 350FPS. You really should be dropping people in one hit to the chest/head. Zombies are a different story, but I was quite upset to see that when launched into a guy's chest, he didn't drop dead. At the very least i'd like him off his feet so I can reload or put my xbow away and twist the bolt around a little. 2-3 bolts, who do you guys think you are? -
Yeah, I was a bit taken aback too. Being disappointed in defeat is one thing, but being upset because you had no chance of winning, not because of actions that you were capable or did make -more specifically because another person has manipulated the odds unfairly - is quite another. Perhaps poor turn of phrase.

I know it would be a lot of extra work, but i'm still begging on seeing a STALKER esque instanced transition zone between map borders. If you had 2-3 extra zones/maps that were instanced in a linear or branched fashion, you could segregate weapons, players and other loot based on the advancement up the 'rungs' of the zone.... but this would probably take a lot of resources to develop, and may bring the mean player-base down per map unless the server max player count was upped, which would make for more issues... And then you'd have the added issue of how to keep people 'safe' during loading between zones, and how you'd transition between safe-zone and pvp-free. That all said, I hope they do keep some incentive to keep people coming and stopping at Balota. It was always a very dangerous place and a good sniper hideout. Balota hill, down the ATC, in the cliffs facingthe coast back towards cherno, and in the fields/beaches up towards Kamenka, Balota has brought me rich pickings and many a stimulating wait for players. I just hope it doesn't turn into a ghost town at the expense of concentrated northern interest. -
ITT: trolls. refuses logic and says 'gr8 community':trololol. "Sure this is all realistic bla bla bla but it still is a game wich is supposed to be fun". Dude I enjoy driving my car and it's a lot of fun and i like it when it goes VROOOM, but if you're getting on the freeway every time in first gear and 90kph then you're doing it wrong. Plain and simple. Break yourself on their shield, fail to use tactics and intelligence/cunning and you're just another dead mark. As far as barracks again, i still reckon that there's like what? 6 rooms? That's not a lot of loot for the server. If there's 3 barracks then you've got 18 chances at loot which is still less than half of player total, and discounting hoppers and all the rest you're going to see a lot of empty rooms. The empty rooms are going to be more consistant and 'expected' and 'formulaic' than people hiding inside the barracks. I do support a revamp and maybe a bit of fresh-air redesign of some buildings or a smattering of new buildings throughout cherno, just to make it feel a little fresher, but i'd rather that more in a cosmetic approach than a functional approach. There's a few Z-vets here anyway, and I'm sure that it's their experience more than anything that makes the scenario predictable before you look at the building/clear it. That said, and as you and other said, Katana/Acolyte, there are just certain spots which are logically stronger and people will gravitate towards these spots. Think of every other FPS game you've played, and you'll know there's at least 5 spots per game where some sad sack is camping day in day out.

I don't get it? It's a defensible position and you want it to be indefensible? That's like asking the devs to remove all the hills and valleys and play on a flat plane, remove buildings just so someone can't have a height advantage on you. I don't see the need to change anything for the most part, and as others have said things like 'best loot spawns in the simplest of buildings' ie: barracks: isn't that half the FUN? running down the duckhunt barrel, into a building with clear lines of sight in at least 2 directions in every part of the building? You're laying down your life for better gear... gawsh people, enjoy the challenge why dontcha

Question on binoculars and backpacks

As for binocs, try putting them into your quick-slot inventory (1-0 buttons) and you should be able to bring them out. Sometimes having your fists out can be a roadblock to doing anything. Then just press space to bring them up and rclick to look through them. -
and most 'mushrooms/fungus' you eat are really the sexual organ (more or less) of the organism. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm fruiting bodies... Well, it's the same case when you put your nose in a flower really. Had a girl once that was shocked to know that flowers were sex organs, and became worryingly excited that 'bees are having sex with plants'. Such a sweet girl. She was also shocked to find that her father's horse didn't like eating chicken sandwiches and was a vegetarian.

Firstly, i don't see that many hackers, still. I've seen some sure, and many suspected, but not many confirmed. Secondly, what 'larger' advantage do they have over you? Because you don't have a gun or axe to defend yourself against infinite bullets or a guy that will just teleport onto a rooftop to kill you? Please, the second you die, you're as vulnurable as you can possibly be. Character wipe does not make you any less vulnurable. If these terrors of the night are as bad as you make out, they kill you, you die, you have nothing. start again. Same story with character wipe, only it's a momentary setback. I'd be more empathetic to people who lose SMERSH vests or M4's, but cmon guys it's not like you're losing your red party hat in runescape... let's just hope this is something more than just a wipe, hundred flowers campaign i hope... better not say too much in case it is a clever ruse. -
strictly speaking, a vegetable is anything that's not basically a swollen ovary. Potatoes are vegetables, despite their being swollen stems/tubers. I've also heard some distinguish between fruit and vegetable as being perennials/annuals, but i think that's a bit incorrect, as many annuals also bear 'fruits' (e.g: melons). But using the above distinction, that should make pumpkins a fruit... this is all rather confusing and blowing my culinary vs botanical knowledge out of the water. tomayto tomato potayto potao :o but then you've got wierd shit like the US supreme court mandating all tomatoes to be called veg for tax purposes... strange. wait... why are we talking about this? GIVE ME YOUR BEANS SCUM! *swings axe wildly*

Doom was originally a PC game, and Doom3 was released on consoles after PC release.... -wrong Quake was originally a PC game. Q3A was considered one of the better PC-console ports, and originally came out on PC. Quake4 was released on consoles after PC release. -wrong DarkSouls 1 had poor graphics, as did 2. The biggest issue with souls was that it had a poorly mapped command scheme and no keyboard prompt support. The game was still critically acclaimed across platforms, but was a more hardcore gaming experience. Aliens (i'll go ahead and assume you mean aliens colonial marines, because AVP/2 was amazing on PC...) was a straight up cash grab by sega, and there was also rumor that money was inapropriately funnelled to the borderlands DLC from the pre-orders of ACM. DS and ACM aside, your point on this line was that grahics suffered as a result, and as much as i disliked DS and ACM on grounds other than poor graphics... i still play SWOTL and SCUMM games ocasionally. Games, as with music, was much better on a percentage basis when built in the 90's for the most part imo, and i played so many games on my pentium 166 back in the day that i could care less about graphics. More importantly, you didn't comment on whether you thought the DayZ graphics were good/poor at the moment, as DayZ is currently only on PC, already on PC, and I fail to see the benefit in tuning graphics down for reasons other than performance (you imply that BI will dumb down the graphics for console release, which outside of optimization or performance tweaking, would mean more work for less gain...) FURTHER, as stated, ACM was a cash grab out-and-out, but they released a tech-demo of the game highlighting greater fidelity than the game was released with. This is not analogous at all to DayZ, as we're currently playing the whole thing, not just watching some pre-rendered walkthrough controlled entirely by the publisher. you've basically just spouted a whole bunch of hate that's either wrong or ill-conceived, but haters gotta hate. TLDR: mentioned DNF, instant F-; most listed titles either were critically acclaimed across platform, or were PC first; Graphics queens gonna queen.

I don't get the whole 'tacticool' bit. It's not like it's a varmint FXXXXxxXX790 super deluxe scope with Ir, Laser pointer and inbuilt shot-camera. I get where you're going, and it would appear you prefer a more rustic approach to dayz, but at the end of the day, it's just a powerful magnification lens. depending on where you are in the world, you can pick up decent high-powered magnification scopes for under $400.00. I see nothing particularly unrealistic or unaesthetic about it personally, but again, horses for courses. I'm interested to see whether private shards will allow for item/weapon restrictions (and i hate that shit in most games) because this may cover your itch so to speak. -

mosin PU was built factory made. I'm sure you could find a compatable LRS from the time, as well as any hypothetically modified mosin that allows for modern LRS. Not sure why it's unrealistic, but as for the aesthetic, this can be changed, or some people will just always be against it. I like the mosin with/without LRS and i'd like to see it stay on personally. Pretty sure i also read that the mosin's stock reticules allow for ranging up to 1000m... -

Know exactly what you're talking about. I'm pretty convinced that it's a lighting issue in-built, but it may be another issue with DX9/10/whateverthey'reusing that is unintentional. It was definitely part of the mod however, and all this said doesn't make it any easier. That said, it's not a complete gamebreaker, and as long as everyone else has it... -

from the horses mouth: we used to have a sticky, but most people just ignored/missed it and posted threads requesting information anyway. Also used to have a floating banner at top of page which displayed for 5 seconds upon viewing any page, but same problem. Server maintenance: every Wednesday at 6:00 GMT. Down time is usually around 3hours unless otherwise stated. PATCHES MAY INCREASE THIS TIME. While forums are just that, a place for people to come to discuss and get information, these forums record written information... Search people Search. UTFSE isn't nearly as prevalent here as other forums, but please search first for your issue, as with bugtracker. Search engine unfortunately doesn't get you too much information, but you can see regular reddit posts in the official forums posted almost every wednesday stating server down ETA 3 hours. It has a timestamp on the post, but that time listed may not be relevant to your time-zone.

Yup. Pissed / es me off too in mod/SA. I think it's a Bloom, HDR lighting effect as others have mentioned, emulating glare from the sun. There's other little nit-picky things like Depth of Field being caught when your LOS intersects with the plane of grass/trees that is either clipping 'inside' your scope, blurring your vision at range, or you're looking through the blades, but still intercepting the plane that the grass sits in... They're annoying, but a friend of mine said that he thought they may be doing these things to limit 3pp/hackers, but that's just his opinion. If i'm not mistaken, Arma3 has a fish-bowl effect from your POV, where textures at edge of the screen 'flow' out/into the corners, most noticeable when looking at sky texture (and moving your camera). There also seems to be some kind of RGB traces around objects, more visible in 3pp, out to the peripherals of your vision, which I think is supposed to emulate 'focus' or dissuade 3pp players from having a wide-view shot outside of their cone of focus. As per SmashT, try adjusting your graphics settings and see if there's any change... or just learn to be on the right side of the sun :) -

although this is a water bottle, the general problem doesn't appear specific to this patch. Back in .45-.47 i had a few run-ins with gravity, after i started eating canned beans on Berez / other apartment balconies (the multi-storey ghetto buildings). After reaching into my pockets, i teleported 2m in front of my old position, out over the balcony to fall to my death... mmmm beans. Also, anyone remember falling through the world and then breaking your legs in the mod when you went to put on a ghilli suit? Best time, found one for the first time, with all my A grade shit, fell through the world and broke my legs dead. It was a good day. -
