Mistakes you see people do all the time in DayZ
q.S Sachiel replied to anderswhk's topic in General Discussion
@anders. yeah that's the other thing. forgetting how much blood you have. I know you can't tell whether they are grey or not without checking pulse, but i got hit once by a zomie a few towns east of elektro, and had to run all the way there along the coast road spitting out blood until i could find a bandanna to tear up. I reckon you can go pretty far with only a few holes in you without biting dirt, so take your time on bandaging! -
shouldn't mauser be able to take 7.62x51? hmmm blaze double l33t snipers... better take the LRS off my mosin 5 round bolt action ;) They've got to include at least one semi-sniper, if not DMS then maybe something with kick like an M14/dmr. That said, the AK is just as versatile as the mosin for the most part over 400-500m if not more. Just gotta play the numbers and hope for a smattering on target.

airsoft bb guns wouldnt be so bad thinking of it
q.S Sachiel replied to bioned's topic in Suggestions
put away your kitchen knife, run at him with your fists and scream 'watcha gonna do bro' as you swing wildly at his face? This sounds even worse than giving Press sewn-in fake pistols on a belt to make it seem like they're armed, in Iraq, where they just end up getting targeted as threats regardless. Here i was thinking that you were advocating airsoft weapons in DayZ ala the novelty hand gun in Dead Space 2/3 that goes pewpewpew and blows things up... I think i may need more drugs. and what about the people without kitchen knives? They should target you as a threat, take your crappy weapon and tea-bag you in disgust at their wasting of ammunition on your hold-nothing ass. -
G3/36, TAR21+/- variant Uzi9mm USAS12 MG42. because i like tearing paper ok. I'd really like to see the m21 but can't really justify it, so maybe the drag, SVU/D or vintorez :3. And a fucking derringer. Because every now and then you just gotta. Taser or beanshot would be cool too for the survivor crowd. Tazer preferably with prod/shot capability. Added bonus of doing SFA against zombies and armor (press vest etc) but would still wreck the shit out of your things (bag gun at least).

I'd be OK with storing certain items in other items not already done, like putting paper notes back in books, and transporting code etc, or storing a few cans in your cooking pot (yellow safety box, 300rounder and medkit need not apply) but breaking down cells to accomodate your ability to carry pens is not something i am cool with. Just an example i know, but if you do it for pens...

I shoot anything that moves, but i don't start threads regarding it. That said i don't go down to Hyde park in london and start discussing the finer points of why women shouldn't be doing X or Y because Z. Time and place i say. These threads are usually either people like the post, or pages of people telling them that they're boring, suck and learn to play fun. Much of a beer calling bourbon drunk kind of scenario imo.

The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them
q.S Sachiel replied to Trizzo's topic in General Discussion
Certain value to each item of barricade of 'exclusion' density triangulation. Approximate circle, calculate density. exclusion density value over set amount = exclude all. Push player to closest radial position from centre upon spawn (+ extra distance buffer to account for any buildings you may clip in given people will probably barricade existing structure, and that you don't want people just appearing on the edge of a position where someone is defending already). How i'd run it. The problem would run into the radial vector plopping you off a cliff or in the water or something. -
LOL @ the scope on middle guy with the two girls. Maybe i'm just a creep but i'd be looking down that barrel :0 Also beans for TAR would love the TAR or MTAR. The games i've experienced in them, they've handled very well and have a really nice 44gallon drum run sound to them baahaawaahwaahaaahaaahwaaahaawaah. Plus they seem to spit lead. Glorious 556 calibre also! Throw in the conversion kit and an Uzi alongside, and you could have 9mm either or. edit for TAR love: female IDF with GTAR from Wikipedia. Almost as tall as her.

Hate coming into the room sounding like a hypocrite, but if you don't like the post then it's probably better not to start trolling the person, or get their back up. At least he's not screaming for developer blood like the rest of the unwashed masses. But that said, shooting a man for a hat is probably not the most entertaining idea out there ;3 Now if you were confronted by two thugs in an alley and you had need of a slick to-the-nines coat... well that's nother story. "Thats' a fine looking coat you've got on there..." OK back to it!

Mistakes you see people do all the time in DayZ
q.S Sachiel replied to anderswhk's topic in General Discussion
Groups don't use their numbers effectively: I've seen it with other people numerous times, but I find myself telling my old co-scrounger many many many many many many many MANY times... BRO DON"T FUCKING RUN TO MY COVER. You have the advantage of numbers. Break up the field before you advance, and cover your respective part. Use distance between eachother as a defense from both evil eyes which may be watching, and as an early alarm should your friendly get shot. Players walking in file across ridges, players walking in file down narrow corridors, players grouping, players moving to cover and betraying the position of their allies AT THAT position deserve a swift death. Unfortunately, it's the guy who's not doing the wrong thing who gets pegged first (and truth be told i'd shoot the less incompetent players first also). He responded several times telling me that the whole point of playing together was that it splits the chance of one of us getting shot by half. Dear god sir. If your'e standing at my back then yes, only one bullet will hit you or me, but there are others that are sure to follow! Betraying your numbers and indicating that you are working co-operatively also reduces the element of surprise, and reduces your chance of recovering gear tenfold, should you both be ID'd, one shot and the other be hunted and unable to quickly secure the area and corpse. All this ignoring that fact that an infinite amount of players operating from the same position are equivalent to one player in that given position, albeit with a few extra sets of weapons. If you're everywhere then you can see everything and your control is far greater. SPREAD YOSELF LIKE BUTTER! him *steamVOIPhidden*- hey there's some guy up here in the police station, i'll go say hello *creeps in stairs* me*steamVIOPhidden* - just kill him bro fucking off him! him *direct* - i can't man i've got nothing to kill him with except this fireaxe ... ... ... him *steamVOIPhidden* - shit! that was over direct *insane laughter from me* him *direct* - hey man. Yeah don't worry *nervous laughter* yeah i don'r really have anything down here. I'm just checking for ammo and food ... him *direct* - yeah, nah. I'm friendly man. CRACK CRACK CRACK CRACK -
depending what building you're stuck in the 'dungeon' of, there are different/several ways to get out. Google youtube / these forums for ways out. I usually target a specific section of the basement and try running + vaulting over it. May be able to step out. Others have suggested crouching/standing/changing weapon to/from back while standing at the boundary of the building and you should pop out. Alternatively, there is a request function on these forums where you can ask a dev/member to teleport you out i believe (haven't used myself). The dev will identify your situation and teleport you to a random part of the map (any server). Have a browse through and check these guys. Sorry i didn't link but i'm lazy atm. edit: can't find any information immediately in stickies RE getting teleported by staff, but i believe i've seen anecdotal evidence here before. Maybe just ping a forum mod and see what the go is ;S I'd try getting out of the building myself first. tho. http://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/46476144694821678/?l=hungarian http://dayzintel.com/user-submitted-guides/stuck-floor-house-help http://steamcommunity.com/app/221100/discussions/0/46476144694821678/ Vids: (not sure why they're going to media and not in pure adress format) :S

1: can only fit things based on their dimensions - dimensions limit gear combinations (can't fit long-arms in backpack); drives advancement of carrying capacity (gear) 2: drives carrying capacity levelling 3: dimensions can be specific, and if you haven't organised your loot prior to entering high-risk areas with a mind for what you're actually after, you'll be spending time either sitting over the object re-arranging in-situ, or will need to run away, shuffle and then get that gear in. 4: weight system could just as easily acchieve the same thing, if values weight were fixed in line with area consumed by gear (aside point). 5: somewhat realistic: finite space requires descrimination of items and selection variations based on player need and desire. 6: classification of 'useful' gear (re equipment etc) through larger area/volume: larger space = more useful/important (situational). At very least, quick ID of particular items through size. No reason to change imo. Stamina could be incorporated as an aside point if the devs wanted and i wouldn't mind much. Rotation i don't think we need it, as it further limits what combinations you can have (within reason) or at the least, drives smaller items up into your pants and shirt, which can be more vulnurable than backpack/vest (increases risk of loss).

Looking for a specific person in DayZ
q.S Sachiel replied to Robert Neville's topic in General Discussion
As far as bad behavior goes, people can change their names to avoid repercussions. But good behaviour may benefit. -
The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them
q.S Sachiel replied to Trizzo's topic in General Discussion
unless they'd hurt it a bit getting in to kill you, or getting out for that matter, slugged you and bits disappear because they go to ruined due to their being linked to your health like a blood golem. Would also be an indirect indicator of kill in this scenario. -
The general consensus / superstition is that you do have a minor fracture or sprain, you just dont' know it because the inv system / player response (red text) doesn't communicate your issue. You should just know the default healthy sway of your rifle (it looks to be 1-2deg lateral for SKS) and if you're wobbling it's time to suck some opiate or put on a splint. I'd really like to see painkiller tabs work like they did in the mod/MGS

Same stupid "running with pistol" animation as in A3
q.S Sachiel replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
Just put it away if you want to run faster? Maybe they don't want you being O.L. Carl Pistorius, albeit with two working legs and hopefully a living girlfriend. -
For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...

I don't always make pottery. But when I do i make sure i Kiln it before i turn it on the table. -
Should Rocket go sooner rather than later?
q.S Sachiel replied to banjo (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
yo dawg i hear you like developing games in games being developed on an undeveloped engine for games dawg Also hi! Its good to see this thread still ticking along like a zombie that just won't stay down. -
It's to limit what you can carry. Otherwise people would just hoarde loot to the max. You could have a stalker-esque style inventory where items do have a 'tetris' element; but the weight is a greater factor. But that's just lager by another name.

The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them
q.S Sachiel replied to Trizzo's topic in General Discussion
Yes, i get that you can just return, but doesn't that punish everyone else too? There are more players than just you on the server. If you've barricaded a position and you die, what's to stop someone else inhabiting that spot? Having arbitrary degredation would annoy me. Like others have said though, having barbed wire across certain high-loot spots was quite inconvenient when playing the mod. Barbwire you could cut with pliers, so as long as there's a counter, and the item does degrade this should be minimised but not eliminated. I'd see a predictable decrease as being more acceptable than a random decrease (or life in time) of the barricade personally. -
The misunderstood barricade, the limits of them
q.S Sachiel replied to Trizzo's topic in General Discussion
i'd rather each item have it's own 'health' which may have a low passive degrade over time, and/or be able to take damage from weapons (locational or otherwise) from weapons based on their current damage rolls. Repairs are possible at any stage where item is damaged. Possibility to upgrade an item to the next tier as long as repair state is at full. -
SKS I choose you! pref black with PU with/out bayonette to taste. TBH i don't enjoy the longer look and am paranoid it will give me away when i poke it through trees. Green paint sometimes depending on if my kit is brighter. black fire axe, fnx45/amphibia if possible. Paranoid atm as i've got 2xfull AK 30mags+30 sks rounds with over 150rounds of .556 and 3x 101 mags. I know noone's able to tell just by looking at me, but if they get me it will be a good day. :( for them.

I think people are alluding to the fact that certain weapons were not widely disseminated, or rare in certain regions (AN was not widely used) and equating highly specialised/engineered weapons such as the AN to being even more rare because they're not so durable due to their specialised parts (i don't know how the AN stands up to wear and tear, but i know the AK is about as durable as cockroaches), though more complex usually means more succeptable damage or failure. That said, i loved the ankaban in BC2 :'( BRA RAP! BRA RAP! BRA RAP! didn't know it had a rotating barrel or cantered magazine however. So strange.

TBH other than the 'i got hacked can i still play if i buy again' threads that i saw more of in the past, from people who hacked the mod i haven't seen toooo many 'YUBANME' threads to bi. I hope these people do load hacks onto their full to the brim steam account though, but you'd need to be an idiot if you did... That said, all those SP steam games just get pirated and what not..

So has there been a wipe yet or not?
q.S Sachiel replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, i'd prefer them to tell. And it makes sense here because they're also saying that they'll be cleansing the earth of hacked mags (and this is how we'll do it). Also, i have my suspicions as to why they said they were putting out a wipe for duped gear ...
