Did I do something wrong? Sniping in the Airfield
q.S Sachiel replied to FrigginTommyNoble's topic in General Discussion
I've done this before too, and i told the guy much like you did. But then i shot him as soon as I felt he was not able to retalliate, as I'm superstitious about the niceties of people in DayZ. There's no cause for him to turn on me or stalk me now because he's growing worms. Leave no witnesses where you can, and if someone makes you reasonably uncomfortable or i get that belly feel, let slip the dogs of war and kill everything that moves. Honour and a misguided sense of trust died long ago. The only people i put my faith in are those who catch me when I'm tired of surviving. -
White armband, what do they mean to you?
q.S Sachiel replied to MadMcardle's topic in General Discussion
Those trying to distinguish themselves from the rest are obviously either a threat to be removed, or a weak target. Cut down all tall poppies, and make the world a better, more homogenised place. *smallprint* offal, entrails and other waste products will be processed into tallow and futher homogenised to be used in supplements to the master race (kos). Peace through power! -
Kicking from Vilayer server IS ALLOWED.
q.S Sachiel replied to deevote's topic in General Discussion
The fact they spelt server own(er) wrong twice suggests it's a strange form letter with some IT monkey pressing the 'deflate issue' button on their end. Sounds like they could give two shits. -
in my experience if it's 90+ seconds no message received the server has ceased and you should retry or find another. edit: 666 posts. woe betide ye, oh mortals.

I know there are different hosts, so it would make sense if it's their side that the times don't marry perfectly. If it's client (renter) side then there should be even more variance.

server hopper detected -_-. *dispatching hounds* In all honesty i don't know, but i think it is different between public and private. Haven't payed too much attention since .58 dropped, but i'm pretty sure (assuming your NZ) that PIPSI / HIHB or some of those servers restart every 2/4 hours... public may be different too. Standby for better information (and attack dogs).

Yeah i spose, but you can farm, and i'd say hunter-forager as 'producer'. I don't believe you need a fiat currency for that system though, barter and commodities trade is the foundation of any market economy. I guess what i was getting at is that dayZ is attractive, and the core of its being exists upon a lack of regulation and control (at least centralised). Also @ Aerospace: they'd probably domicile themselves only to be quickly conflagrated with petrol.
-
As others have said, this game - and what i expect the apocalypse or any cataclysmic event - brings a pure market economy. Bandages may be one of the better examples when you're fine they're worthless, perhaps even negative value because they take up space (though you'd be mad not to carry a stack) but when you need them, and don't have them, the seller can dictate whatever price they need. (this is where KoS plays a role ;) )

Oh, ok. So you have no excuse then. Seeing as you've got the language part down, but seem to lack either the social or cultural toolkit, here's a free tip: [metaphor]You sell more product when you don't belittle your consumer base.[/metaphor]

Lol, calling someone small of mind when they ask a perfectly polite albeit direct question is not an attack? Maybe it's just a Croat translation issue, no? And just to add a degree of directness myself, self justification and telling people 'don't worry its fine i've checked it myself' and being the supposed creator is called 'conflict of interest'... I'd wait for a more objective review personally before trying this software package, but I'm sure there will be front-runners willing to blaze the trail for those less quick to take the jump.
-
hold onto the izh. but really you're comparing a meat cleaver to a chopstick with akm vs blaze. Unless you wantto RP or give yourself a challenge, then the choice is obvious.
-
please guys... we already have a rejoin countdown and private hives :(
-
Does this mean that DayZ is progressing along a more PVP oriented vein, and if so, how do the developers expect this avenue of development to affect the production process as a whole?

We Dedicated Few: A Guide to Debug Island
q.S Sachiel replied to Tatanko's topic in General Discussion
Sounds like the admin wanted your stuff :) Should write a letter laced with passive aggression stating that you were setting up the SCUD so as to nuke their asses into oblivion. Still though, I'm appalled that private hives have encouraged these kinds of behavior... That and some sweaty nerd admin is obviously pinging his map, watching every player in the server... -
Tanks in DayZ? I still think you could do it with no weapons, and even more if you can hop on it ala halo while shooting your gun in the air screaming 'PVP WILL NEVER DIE!', all the while spitting teh occasional round down the manhole and maybe a grenade or two for good measure... and here's the hard counter:

As interesting as the data is, if this is a statement about users/owners then you're better off expanding your statistical scope to the sales volume/peak volume of other possibly more popular games. Interesting though to see less than 50k peak.

The Psychology of Understanding Alpha
q.S Sachiel replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The difference between this and a finished game that someone doesn't enjoy is that this game is still being developed, and people may perceive a potential to minimise their distaste by exerting some kind of pressure to come about a change in the development and form of the game. The screaming 1pp crowd is a shining example of how this strategy can be effective. I see no difference between someone complaining about lack of zombies, lack of things to do, immersion, difficulty above or below expectation, 1pp/3pp camera or a litany of other complaints or emotive suggestions... This is a community of people who bought into a work in progress that is still in progress, and being the internet people will of course try to shut down the other's argument with varying degrees of justification/legitimacy, but criticism and feedback are basically what this forum is here for, that and consumer-developer communication. And i know you're not saying 'if you don't like it get lost' like people on many other forums are quite so quick to do, *COUGH E: D COUGH* although this forum is still quite quick to say 'ALPHER' 'This game is not for you' or 'come back in 3 years', but imo it's important people can air their grievances here about the game. IF the devs decide it worthy or otherwise, dictates whethere anything changes, but without the stimulus the change will not be brought about. -
shouldn't it be more 3-500m effective? I thought the AK was quite a good little rifle, even without selective fire.
-
Animals wander and were chased by zombies too. From what i can tell, there are no zombies in 0.58, hence no fleeing herds of cattle. Chickens used to spawn around coops (large square, triangular roofed structures on stilts and ramp). I have the best luck finding animals towards the centre / away from coast map areas, but as far as the behavior of their spawning routine, i'm unsure.
-
lol. was he using rockshot?.. if not then you are obviously a hacker. or a wizard.
-
have they introduced a selective fire feature yet? This is the kind of love that assault rifles need.

I made a fireplace at night, then everything goes black?
q.S Sachiel replied to Mark88's topic in General Discussion
Yep, same thing happens for going into shade/buildings and out into full sun, looking at the sun etc... it's modelling adjustment to light, as said above, but it's much of an inconvenience given screen glare and i don't much get this IRL but a neat feature i suppose. -
looking for something different to do? help combat server hoppers
q.S Sachiel replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
How do you know they're loggers if they don't log out.... lol. -
ah yeah, kinda OT but as to my last point: now need to put magazines / weapons in hand to eject cartriges afaik.

Certain objects also require being in hands before the appropriate contextual cue is given for an action... I can't think of an example at the moment, but pretty sure it's accurate. Medkits still 4-slots.. silly.
