    What about Zombie Dogs?

    I'm agree too with only human infected... or we will finish this tread with infected squirrels, birds and mosquitos attacking you from every directions... Feral dogs is a must have not because it will be interesting or annoying but just because it reality. How many people died or left from this country ? How many of those people had dogs ? Those dogs didn't just vanish in the forest. They are surviving too and can feast on you if you're not vigilant. First, zombie pathfinding fix, then I hope they will program a very good and realistic animals AI (both for carnivorous and grass eaters), because even wild predators like wolves or bears are scared by humans and prefer to leave unless they are starving. Then if they attack you, they won't attack facing you and giving you a chance but they will sneak in your back and kill you better when you are looking another direction.

    Player activated environment sounds

    One feature to implemented indeed. I was thinking about the birds flying, the cities and the randomness... Sounds should be random in the forest (many birds and animals around making noise, rain, even the trees balancing and chocking each others with the wind) and when a player is around too but in fact it is quite easy to sneak on people in the forest because people don't pay attention to those noise unless they are very loud and near from them. For example you walk not far of an animal without knowing, it don't see you as well, but when it sees you, it suddenly run off and make a big noise in the bush. You didn't even saw it but just get scare because of the noise. It's happen couple of time to me while walking alone in the forest making no sound. The birds should fly when there's a gun shot but they could fly too randomly and they should fly in the cities as well (if you live in a city just look the pigeons, they often fly in group and many times for no obvious reason at all). This would always leave a doubt whatever you see or ear : Is there somebody ? Do I go investigate ? Btw if you ear a gunshot and see birds flying away there is no doubt.
  3. Maybe it could be nice to have at least one real urban environment. Maybe in Cherno, maybe somewhere else... The atmosphere of the game is quite rural that's why I'm suggesting only one city, but a big place that may have been home of 40.000 or 50.000 chernarussians before the apocalypse. You will tell Cherno is a city, but I would answer it's not. Cherno is a town (no more than 5-6000 inhabitants) as Elektro or Berezino and most other places are just villages or hamlets. It would be cool to see Cherno extend (it been extend already with the tower neighborhoods) even more on the hills and of course along the coast... Balota, maybe Elektro would became some suburb areas of Cherno. I'm not suggesting this because I used to PVP in those zones and I want more urban fighting (In fact I never been to Cherno, I'm just very good at reading a map since I'm designing some), but just because a real urban zone is missing in the map, so it would be nice to add at least one. Anyway, a big city can only bring many new opportunities of all kind. Post some comments about the idea or the location you would see a city. (For my part, I think Berezino is the best location in an urban planning point of view, but Cherno is the capital... so...)

    What make you think this is cherno equivalent ? I don't really know Arma engine btw, I played no Arma... What I think as an urbanist is, there are in the map too much small villages, too near from each others. Bigger villages more far one from each others with some small hamlet and farms in between should be more close of reality rural landscape. Guess it is too late now for start the map again, hehe.

  7. Especially when you are in the wood you should get easily some wood (stick and fire) and stones... I mean, right now, the forest is the worst place to gather resources for make a fire cause you can't find wood and stones... you have to go get them in a village ?!? (I know fire's not yet implemented but if it was...) I don't know if the solution is textures/containers but this must be done (However, I think the dev thought about it already)

    Agree with Gruntt. Looting a village should never be a labour of love, especially when you are alone.

    Wood should be more dense and rough with more bushes, fallen trees, etc, everywhere. Some forests are like that already, others look like their still well cared... Well, I see nobody for care them so they should go back to wild... This would give more hide and seek possibilities especially for the hunting part. No difficult to shoot a deer from a far distance with a scope if there's nothing the deer can hide behind. About the infected, I was thinking about that. I'm thinking it's strange that infected go back in sleep mode a bit after they are chasing you. Let me explain. If you get chase by an infected and you choose to not remove it and run for try to lost it... then if you are successful, the zombie will stop where he is, looking for you and if he can't find you will go back to sleep. I think, in reality one or a group of infected chasing a survivor and losing him should be in a big rage and frustration, so they would continue to look for the survivor long after the survivor left. In terms of game, after the infected lost your trace, they should continue to run their berserk way in a direction and stop only after some time and go back to sleep mode. I think, it is a simple way (and code) that could give a big improvement in gameplay. For example : The zombies could find you again even after they actually lost you (if you cross its path again), they could find another player (imagine some zombie coming around running after you don't know what and then they have a look at you... now you are the running one... hehe), they could enter the forest randomly and go back to sleep there waiting in the bush for another survivor.

    Less Military. More Apocalyptic. (Clothing)

    Agree. In another way I would say we could find any kind of outfits (civilian or military) but in order to feel this post-apocalypse atmosphere, all of them should be in a bad condition (damaged and badly damaged), rarely in worn condition and super rarely in pristine condition. The sewer kit should allow you only to buff your outfit of 1 level (badly damaged to damaged, damaged to worn) as usually we are sewing in the middle of nowhere with no real sewing equipment, as the proverb said : "you can't make right work if you miss the right tools". Everybody wearing some kinds of rags would make it more looking like apocalyptic thought... In fact, I think every items should be found in bad condition and find anything pristine a super rare and enjoyable moment. I guess (and hope) it's what the dev's plan to do.

    Completly agree and gave my beans... Dayz would be a smart game when not only headshot tactic paid off. We could use efficiently some tactics like suppressive fire (where you shoot just for your opponent to stay on cover by fear of being hit by one single bullet) or fire in the legs (often use for stop a enemy with some body protection as long as the legs usually got the less protection).

    For make it simple... I'm not agree with a exp points and leveling system, but... I think it would be nice to have some system that reward people who smartly survive for a long time (as this is the goal of the game) and make you lose more than just your gear when you die.

    Well, a city like NY or London counting several millions inhabitants would covering more than just the map. I was talking about 40 or 50 thousands of people. That should be a small city but still a real city since Cherno right now is looking nothing more than a big village with a couple of factories and tower neighborhoods. Well, my criteria was the size mostly. Chernogosk may have a cathedral it will not change the fact that it is very small. Finally, I'm pretty aware about the performance problem, I got some myself. I'm suggesting this and would like to see it only if it's possible. No need to have it done tomorrow. This is just an idea as I see it's missing to the map and so the game only can be better if it got it, in my opinion. I edit this a bit. I was wrong, Chernogosk may not have even a thousand inhabitants, and we should have a city not more than 10 000. Have a look at that link... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagan,_Russia and look for the city size on google map. This is the kind of city I am talking about.

    Well, I got the contrary experience... Looking for a SKS because I got 2 box of SKS ammo, and impossible to find one cause I found only mosin almost everywhere. I think it is just some kind bad luck here...

    Agree. I think we should have more space and some item should be bigger. I know it's a game but I don't believe a pair of handcuff keys or pens can be as big as a large canister of gas + gas lamp... Pocket size should be specified, cause you can put a pistol, or a key + a pen + ammunition in your front pocket but not a canteen...

    compact folding survival bow

    When they will drastically reduce the number of military class weapon loots, crossbows and bows will get a good place again. Cause they are some weapons you can craft (for example the bow). Better a bow than nothing, better a crossbow than a bow, and finally better a rifle if you can find one and got ammo. I was thinking, they should implement some crafted spears made of wood stick. You can even add a kitchen knife if you got a rope or duct tape to fix it. Because I think if you're an un-experimented civilian like you are in the beginning of the game (a bambi), I think you wouldn't go hunt the boar with your kitchen knife between your teeth but better use a spear. You would craft some kind of long weapon so you can keep some distance between you and your target (easiest way to fight for un-experimented fighters), and this spear you can even throw it at someone or something. I think, I would do that in case of such apocalypse (if I can't have access to any rifle). A spear is more efficient and versatile than any homemade bow that are use to be shit unless you have time, experience and tools to craft them properly.

    wind direction/speed feedback to the player

    -- Sailor's tip to get wind direction is to turn your head till you can hear the wind blow in both your ears (works perfectly at sea) -- Now, I was thinking about that too : I guess many people would not like it, but I think when you wear some item on your face, you should see them in first person (mask, sunglasses, motorbike helmet, etc...) creating some kind of blind spot sometimes, real protection against sunlight, etc. depends on the item. So here is why I'm talking about that in that wind topic. We could have hair showing in the up side of the screen (something subtle with transparency) just like when you got hair enough and you can see it in real life. Like in real life after a while you wouldn't notice it anymore, but movement of those hair could give indications about wind direction and strenght. Mask and motorbike helmet once again would nullified this option, because it's quite clear that when you really need to feel the wind, you are doing this with your face, so if your face is covered... Guess why all those snipers are wearing boonie hats... Once again this is only a suggestion.

    I'm not talking about urban night. You can walk in the forest along a path with no light. I remembered I walk around at night with no light but the stars in the 1000 islands in Cambodia. No cities, no light at all cause the only light available is produced by some generators which are shutdown after 10pm. We walk with a friend on a complete unknown path in the fields and under small trees coverage, and we manage to make all the round of the island and came back at our guesthouse. I can tell you we saw many things... Water buffalo (can ear them and saw them when they were moving), roosters and dogs (brighter colors), trees, houses, etc.We first walked on a railroad then on a path. We never lost the road. I'm not telling this story to say it's an exploit, the contrary it is just an example. Everybody can do it and so should it be in the game.

    I answered "other" cause it's really depend on the situation. I usually don't KOS but if I'm new spawn with no food, then I see somebody with something on his shoulder I can try to got it (no need to kill him all the time, just punch inconscious and rob his stuff). If I'm in a hot spot and someone come with weapon I will kill him with no second thought, better him than me...

  23. Well far simple that add some ramp to every buildings... Just allow crawling people to go up on stairs. I mean if you can crawl for kilometers with your broken leg, I guess it's not 3 steps that will stop you. The weird fact is : you can't crawl up a stair but you can climb up a ladder with a broken leg !! (I ever do it).

    Nah... No way to choose respawn in any way... Because it is just the logic of the game. Furthermore, today people are asking to be able to choose respawn location, what will they ask tomorrow ? Respawn fully geared ?!? Maybe you don't get it but there is a life in that game between shooting other humans, kill brainless AI zombies and pick up berries in the forest (there's no berries in the forest by the way... not yet). If you didn't see that, I think you are missing the point with that game. The fun is to have contact with other players, but when you meet other players it don't have to 100% of the time finish in a blood bath. Excitement in game come when it is not sure and not comfortable to meet strangers. You don't know how they will behave with you and what you should do. This way of playing give a lot of adrenaline too. Finally.. PVPing all the time must be boring as well...
