Do you want to see persistant storage disapear with player death ?
massacrorBKK replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
This make us ask again the question about what gameplay and what game is Dayz ? 1) Surviving including PVP, or 2) Deathmatching including food consumption. The game may have no goal but it should have a direction (giving place too to other play style indeed). I wouldn't be rewarded for hiding in the bush while playing COD or BF !! Why should I be reward for playing PVP without good reason in a survival game where I can lose it all ? I think Dayz can have even more emotion, RP, difficulty and authenticity if you make death a real hardcore punishment It would force the people to think, not just click... -
Shit man... I must have written my message exactly at the same time than you... We both saying exactly the same thing. lol. Are you only reading other people post before quoting them ?!?

Fishing with friends is funny. BBQ by the water... hehe. Btw I'm quite agree with you. It is quite hard, but I guess after the Bratislava's studio finish working on the wild animal AI, it will be harder to find and shot animals. They won't just stray in the fields. In the end fishing may be easier, time consuming but at least you know quite easily where to find some fish.

Sorry, but you forgot to say if it will regular or hardcore.

Do you want to see persistant storage disapear with player death ?
massacrorBKK replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
Please notice that in my first post on this thread, I explain that the poll is for give your opinion on the question for the final product of Dayz. After the bugs and glitch have been eradicated. Right now, the game is quite broken and death mean nothing so, no need to implement this kind of feature right away. -
Do you want to see persistant storage disapear with player death ?
massacrorBKK replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
I see some people talking about ability and fun to loot other people's tents. I never say that such thing should be removed. Of course the "tresure hunt" for other people tent must be keep in the game. What I said was, when a player find another survivor's tent, it is by luck, or because he followed the survivor and found his hidden stash, etc. When a player's character died and his new born character is going right away to the other character tent, tell me how this can be authentic. You as a player behind you screen know where the tent is, but your avatar, just washed on the shore shouldn't have that knowledge. The tent disapearance is not authentic, the survivor without any knowledge of the tent location running right away to it is neither authentic. As Caxton Gibbet said just up there, the key question is not how much it is authentic, but how it affect gameplay. Personnally, I am for a permanent death where you lose all your item and have to start from the start. The barricading is another question in my opinion. Barricade don't need to be remove while you die. About the utility of having a persistant storage that didn't persist after death, I would quote Pillock who made this very well. -
Anyone like the idea of a more complicated reloading system?
massacrorBKK replied to MONKAYPOO0's topic in General Discussion
It seems to me a bit too much as well. But I'm agree it should be a bit more complicated. Maybe the animation could take more time (different of COD where your avatar is able to reload in half a second). Maybe you should only have the dragging option in the inventory interface and no "R" button. I think for removing and filling mags with ammo, there should be an animation (that you could cancel of course) because I can't believe you can load a 60 rounds magazine as quick as it take for click and drag. This would give some better chance to survive for people who get well prepared. We could as well have some interesting team situations : "cover me, I need reload !!" -
Simple thread for I think a simple thing to implement (in fact I don't know but it look simple) and that can give a big effect. When server start (or restart) it choosing randomly for every doors in the game to be closed or opened. It would not take any ressources as long as the server is doing that during it restart routine like it spawning randomly loots or zombie positions. The big effect would be the following : right now when I'm arriving in a village and all the doors are closed, it seems that it haven't been looted yet (can be a trick from a camper indeed but you all know what I mean). At the contrary, if all the doors are opened, it seems I should better move to the next village cause it seems someone already pillage the place. If some doors are opened and other are closed, it is harder to know and so I think it is interesting. It is quite simple to explain and credible from a lore point of view... Occupants left the door opened while fleeing their home (maybe the vacuum cleaner too)... Or some survivors already came in there and left the door opened (like we all do). In the future, they can even add more type of doors for the server to choose : opened, closed, locked (they will implement it for sure), broken down (you cannot closed them anymore), etc...

What is the difference between "Worn" and "Pristine" (Clothing ONLY)
massacrorBKK replied to KingJaeEmpire's topic in New Player Discussion
Pristine is brand new. Coming out from the store, still in its box, nobody never uses it... Worn is mean the item has been used already even if it have no degradation, hole or damage. It is not as new as when it left the shop... Well, then damaged, badly damaged and ruined are quite clear. -
Opening randomly doors at server starting
massacrorBKK replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
I know some people are doing that, cause I'm one of them myself... But it happens to me to arrive in places where every doors are opened means that not everybody is as cautious as us... Well, I didn't heard about that. If they are already working on, then it is awesome. Nevertheless broken doors could be nice too. Making some houses impossible to barricade or locked zombie inside (I saw on a video some people locking zombies inside the jail room just by closing the door before they can go out). -
That people came back to beast behavior once any society judgements and rules have been removed.

I'm agree.

The thing is that all the inventory system looks to be a placeholder for now. I heard that the dev's have in mind to make something completely different for the definitive game. In that term, it seems quite a waste of time to change anything about the inventory systen if they have to change everything again. Even if this change is something simple to implement. Anyway for my part 8 slots is good. Right now if you want all the medical supply you need 2 medic bag, and with your inventory getting messed up every time you are logging in... this is not easy.

Three things that completely ruin the DayZ experience...
massacrorBKK replied to Daricles's topic in New Player Discussion
First, as my post was saying this roleplaying game damage rules substance are reliable on simple statistics and fact... Second, you try to make a rule with an example and this is what I criticise in your thread... I don't believe the kill frenzy people who get shot repeatdly and continue to fight till they die is the vast majority of the people (even if it can happens sometimes). Maybe when you take a bullet it is not an "insta-kill" and you won't die instantly... but most of the people will be put out of combat after been hit by combination of shock, terror and pain. In a firefight engaging several persons, one of them that've been hit if not unconscious will try to leave the killing zone for trying to survive, more than standing up in the middle, spray everything with his weapon and shouting. At the contrary, another example I wouldn't like to see becoming a ingame rule is those story of cops being shot in the legs with 9mm and dying almost instantly from heart attack... (it can happens too) -
Not if you're unconscious... How can you talk about IRL firefight ? Have you been fighting, or injured yet ? Maybe yes but !! Better let "If it was IRL" out of the discussion when it's coming to gunfight, injuries, zombie surviving, etc. etc. because the neophites don't know a thing about this... And the pros better not say anything because we suppose to play neophites in the game...

I intend to post that in the 0.44 feedback topic, but I guessed some people might answer then better to do a new topic. I came a few weeks ago and didn't see the night yet, so when I played tonight and night was falling in game I can't resist to go take a walk in the woods with my flashlight no matter who can shot me out there. I'm coming back here with some feedback and criticism... positive criticism I hope. First, I found it amazing in term of atmosphere... (that is for positive) You can see some buildings in the distance, don't know if there's zombies around. I was going on a known route following trails and roads but in the end I lost myself anyway by trying to avoid to enter in any village. Second, I think there should be a bit more work in terms of contrast : - The sky should be more dark and more contrasted. It would be easier to see stars (was hard to find the north star) and trees and buildings shape wouldn't be so clear with the sky in the background. - Objects in the distance shoudn't fade to white (it's perfect during the day) but fade to black. Right now, it's easier to count bush on a hill far away than just next to you. Black should be darker than the sky so you still could see big shape like a hill or a valley but you could not see any details. - There's should have more contrast for what is just next to you (don't know 10-15 meters) making what is directly surrounding you a bit more clear . Example, tonight during my road trip I took a dust trail in the middle of some fields. I had to open my flashlight to not lose the trail. This is clearly not needed in reality, you can follow a path, a road, even in the forest without any light at night. Thanks for read, and leave your comments.

Cause the night is dark and full of terror...
massacrorBKK replied to massacrorBKK's topic in Suggestions
I made a new test with Gamma tonight (only the test, not the night gameplay)... And I was amaze that all the critics I've done first in this thread are invalid, only if... you put your gamma to minimum... - The sky is dark enough, you can still orientate a bit while you still able to see the shape of trees or hills with the sky in the background. - The object in the distance are fading to black. - Then you can guess your surrounding like you would at night. Means you can see a road, some stones or herbs but after 10-15 meters everything is pitch black. Nice to see the dev won't have any work on that... Only problem is : all the rest is too dark, like your inventory interface or even if you turn on a light... Still have a bit of work in fact but it is almost perfect. I'd recommend... Must say tonight was cloudy... With full moon we'll need a bit more light. -
Three things that completely ruin the DayZ experience...
massacrorBKK replied to Daricles's topic in New Player Discussion
You must be kidding !?! This is in "Rambo trilogy real life"... Once again I gonna quote Cyberpunk 2020 pen and paper roleplaying rulebook talking about the game fight rules because it seems to explain a fact my english is not good enough to... There's a lot of vague ideas and theories about modern weapons encounters - most of them from the Hollywood Never-Empty-Six-Gun-School of Armed Combat. These misconceptions have crept on little flat feet into the design of many role-playing games, leading to characters who can be repeatedly shot with large caliber handguns until they run out of "hit points" and who can fire Ingram MAC-10's one-handed and hit with every bullet. In other words, good, clean fun. FNFF is not good, clean fun. Most of the data herein has been complied from ballistics reports, police data, FBI statistics and other not-clean fun sources. These sources tend to point to a couple of basic truths about firefight combat. 80% of most gunfights occur between untrained amateurs at a range of 21 feet. 50% of these raging gun battles happen within 8 feet or less! Most (60%) occur in dimly lit and difficult conditions - dark, tiny alleys, with both participants panting and out of breath, pausing momentarily to snap off a badly aimed shot at a fleeing shadow, then ducking back for cover. Hits are surprisingly rare. When they do occur (assuming a large caliber weapon's involved), the victim is usually hors de combat on the first shot from a combination of round-shock and terror. A solid hit with a .44 magnum will usually splatter a real person all over New Jersey. -

Nice thread. Your poll talking only of camo specification... I would say enough of military stuff and more civilian. For my part I want metal shirts !! Like in the mod... My preference would go for some Saladyer or Canniboul Corpse shirts.
