    Windows 10 Upgrade?

First off, props on still rocking a G5 (I had mine for a long time, then I finally needed to replace it, so I got a G500, which is basically the same); second, I basically did the same as you, which was to reserve my copy, but decide to wait for a bit after launch. I'm perfectly happy with my Win7Pro install right now. To be honest, I would much rather try it out on my Win8 laptop first, since that is essentially my secondary PC, and I'm not really a fan of some of the changes they made for 8 (e.g. the Start Screen). Unfortunately, I have yet to see an upgrade notice pop up on there.

DECEIVED & AVENGED - Beating Him At His Own Game

Aww, it ended right before the best part.

    Basic Basebuilding system

That is a good point; to be honest, in my opinion at least, the best way to achieve realism AND security is to allow barricading using existing furniture and other items, e.g. pushing a dresser & bed up against a door, or re-positioning an armoire against a window.

H1Z1 currently allows you to lock ANY door that YOU have created and/or placed with a 4-digit numerical lock code, simply by holding down the same button used to open it, clicking a button, and entering the code. Once you enter the lock code, only you or someone else who knows the code can open the door normally, and the code only needs to be entered once by anyone other than the person who placed it (whoever places it automatically knows the code), unless the code is changed. Granted, all of the doors are the same size, though they don't all fit in every doorway. I don't see why DayZ can't have something like this.

    Robbery Confusion!

    Quite entertaining. :D

    My luck :D

Someone obviously dropped that stuff; I'm curious as to why. It's possible someone was carrying it and died, but I would think if a player had killed them, they would have taken at least the Mosin. I honestly thought it was a trap when I first saw the stuff, and was expecting someone to run through the door and pop you while you were inspecting everything. :D

    0.56 adventures so far!

Well, I don't see any potatoes, but I'm sure they're just fine, as long as they aren't rotten (did they add rotten food back into the game yet?).

    What Have I Done?

Sometimes, when you make a mistake and realize it, it almost seems like it would only make it worse to cop to it. I totally understand. This being said, I still think you should have said something once you realized what you did. Shame on you. :P :)

The DayZ world is like a Ride......

But then we wouldn't have been privy to a wonderful 40-second clip of one of the most amazing comedians who ever lived telling it like it is. <---- This guy. :D

    Battle Royale?

Probably because they've been playing H1Z1 in the meantime (like me) and have been enjoying the BR mode in it, and can't wait to see something similar in DayZ. I would imagine they would at least consider it, though I hope they don't also consider having airdrops as well (a rather stupid idea IMO).

    Whats wrong with my game?!?!?

Did you try going into your Visual/Video settings and then back out? I know when I had visual & graphics issues before, that seemed to help; you don't actually change anything, just go into the options menu and go to the video or graphics tab, then just ESC back out. Not sure if it will fix that problem, but it's worth a shot. Beyond that, I would say GOOGLE it and see what turns up while you wait for more replies.

    Hordes of Infected...Finally!

I watched that video in the other thread you made for it, and it seems like the zombies are really hitchy when they run; have they been messing with the movement speed of them as well? I admit I haven't played since right after 0.55 hit stable, and even then it wasn't much.
  13. Probably looking to see if anyone else had run into this issue and figured it out already, so he wouldn't HAVE to contact BE. I do that all the time. That being said, I think you're correct in that he probably WILL have to contact them.

    The real and virtual Chernarus

Is the game footage from ARMA or something? I know it definitely isn't from DayZ SA.
  15. There was a thread posted by someone who went to the BI studios that had a video they shot that showed how they used the surrounding areas as inspiration for the game; unfortunately, I can no longer find that thread, but I did find another one which has a link to pictures posted on an imgur account that shows much of the same stuff that the video did (only without the transitions to show how the RL objects compare to in-game ones). You might be a bit surprised to see just how similar the area is to the game, and these photos were obviously taken rather recently. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/223245-real-life-chernarus/

    Aging/Deficiencies

I concur with this; while aging DOES have a physical effect on people, e.g. moving slower, not as agile, etc., it varies from person to person. Both of my grandparents (that are still with us) are 81 years old, yet they can move around and do more than many people 10 years younger or more. On the same token, I know people MY age who are less mobile than people my grandparents' age. So, while I definitely think that it would be good aesthetically (beards, long hair, etc.), as far as the game mechanics go, I think it would be far too involved and difficult for them to set up some sort of debilitating mechanic that is associated solely with age, not to mention it would seem to punish players that have survived for longer periods by making them weaker; so in that sense, I would have to agree with NOT making that a mechanic in the game, and making aging a solely aesthetic addition. As far as the fitness part goes, I actually like that idea a lot. I would seem to sort of "force" people into thinking more long term and deciding what types of food they want to eat, rather than stuffing everything they come across down their gullet until they puke, which I think would help the realism aspect, as well as make the game more challenging and fun. You, sir, have my beans (unless you're worried about them making you fat).

    The Real Chernarus [7:10]

    Cool!
  18. Maybe there was a loose wire hanging into the water that made you do the "Electric Slide".
  19. But what better way to go out than enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of nature? :D
  20. 1.) Yes it does, because higher resolutions are typically used on larger screens. 2.) Not really, though it's best if you run the game at the same resolution that you normally have your desktop set to. Your desktop should have a native resolution; mine is 1920x1200, which is the next step up from 1920x1080, which is the standard viewing resolution for 1080p content (hence the matching numbers). I run all my games at this resolution, if possible; if not, I choose the highest resolution possible. I think there's also an option in the game settings to change your FoV independently.

    A Bandit Encounter. Mullraugh style.

Good call. Enough of that going around.
  22. So, you want me to argue against the idea that I think rape is the fault of women who are victimized? OK then, fine: no, I don't think that rape is the fault of women who are victimized, because it's being done against their will, and they have done nothing to directly antagonize the aggressor into doing so. If they had, then they would be aware of and accept the risk of it happening, and would therefore be effectively consenting to it. Happy now? And don't you DARE say that had nothing to do with what you're talking about, because it is in DIRECT response to your original post towards me: Also, don't try to tell me I'm missing the point, because I'm not; the principle is NOT the same, because one instance is a GROUP of people who (in a VIDEO GAME, mind you) decided to corner another group of people inside of a building, forcing the people inside to find a way out of the situation, which they apparently did by "ghosting". I said his group was at fault for getting "ghosted" because they didn't consider it a possibility (which is hard to believe considering he said it happens a lot) and therefore take precautions against it, such as keeping watch on their surroundings. The other instance is of some shitbag who decides to overpower someone and take advantage of them sexually in reality, possibly leaving behind emotional as well as physical wounds, not to mention a possible unwanted pregnancy that could have the very real possibility of being terminated early. I, for the love of God, cannot fathom how you could POSSIBLY consider those two situations to be ANYTHING alike. In my honest opinion, you would have to be very mentally unbalanced for that to occur. Now, for the sake of all that is still good in this world, can an admin or mod PLEASE send this thread to rest.
  23. Because there was nothing to argue; you made an idiotic statement that I supposedly think that rape is the fault of the women that are victimized, and I rightly called you a jackass for making such a moronic assumption. Anyone that makes such a statement is a complete dipshit devoid of any sense or intelligence; you fail to realize that me calling you a jackass was letting you off easy.

    improvised silencer repair with tape

I tried one for the first time today (in-game), and this is exactly what happened after 1 shot; also, the sound didn't seem to be dampened, so hopefully they will add the ability to use rags in the construction. From what I've read and seen in in-game vids online, though, the sound suppression apparently only works until the end explodes, at which point it apparently becomes functionally useless. I only fired one shot with mine, though, and as I said, it didn't seem to be suppressed at all, so I took it off and left it on the ground, as leaving it attached was almost as bad as the M91 bayonet in making my Mosin stick out like a sore thumb.
