    Who are you? [2014-02-08]

@SpartanxApathy: Sir, thank you for the elaborations from Wikipedia. I should have made my joke more clear, the one with Bavaria. Actually I graduated in Psychology and hold a Ph.D. I am well aware what a Stockholm syndrome is. The situation in my video was simply too short for evoking any PTSD or alike syndroms. If there would ever be any signs related to above mentioned, evoked by video gaming the person in quesion should seek immediate professional help.

Stockholm? Nope. I am from Bavaria. @Johnny & @Calibre: Yeah, got it. Thanks for reactiviating my paranoia. :P @Iarfur: Great story! Thanks for sharing. I checked my inventory after this experience. IMHO everything as before. I checked because this one guy wanted to get very cozy with me. Romantic feelings or blood drain?
  4. Last Friday I had my first encounter. It was a three person team. It was last Friday in Svetlojarsk I had no guns. They were friendly! Just wanted to know who you are guys and thank you! It was a nice "first time" and taught me not to be over paranoid of KOS. Video: Friendly Triple

    Inventory dissappeared, lost, vanished

Hi Damocles, well I played for well over half hour at least. I don't think it is a problem of recent syncs, because the whole inventory was lost, that was collected over 10 hours gameplay. That is a fully stuffed mountain backpack. An SKS with scope, firefighter axe and stuffed clothes. So gear that you usually not aquire in some minutes. ;)

    Inventory dissappeared, lost, vanished

Calixus, thank you for your advice, much appreciated! I will keep a log now which server I played last, I don't trust the history tab. :P However my well last, well stocked, inventory seems lost after three server hops. Ah well, that's DayZ SA (alpha)
  7. I developed my char to some degree for around 10 hours now. This morning I logged out in the harbour of Svetlojarsk. After I logged in in the first server just before I got a warning that there is no connection to the hive and I should log out immediately. So I did by pressing escape. Next server I respawed but I had nothing.I picked up a ridicoulously looking school bag (girl I assume). I mean literally nothing, also no clothes. Strangely I was in the correct place where I logged off and my status was still well hydrated and well fed like in the morning. I thought maybe thats a glitch in the server, so i logged out and took yet another one. After the obligatory 120 secs waiting time I respawned with nothing than the school bag. So my complete inventory seems lost but location and feeding status were preserved. Vampires? Robbers? Hackers? :|
  8. Move inland, refer to dayzdb.com for a map. Most villages and towns have signs. Read them for position reference. Survive and adapt. When your character is mature enough the game will provide you a gun. Ramen!

    DayZ is peaceful

Hi I'm PaPaFrag, I am bit older and started to play DayZ just roundabout two weeks ago. Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/papafrag I started DayZ around the time when I experimented with FRAPS, so one came to another: PaPaFrag's channel Male, living in Germany

    Exposure aka Hypothermia or Hyperthermia

My basic idea is to make camping & sniping expensive from the gameplay side. So a wannabe sniper would have to get more equipment than currently necessary until he/she would be good to go. Personally I have the feeling that sniping is currently too easy. Toxic clouds or the need for warm up or excellent equipment would shift this equation. Remark: I have not been sniped (yet). I think because of my Counter Strike times I am aware of this. I remember back then one good sniper in the enemy team could ruin your day.
  12. In our pathfinder school we learned it is important to keep your core body temperature at 37° C (98.6° F). Ok, kidding aside, this was already discussed in the DayZ Mod suggestions, so I wondered that it didn't make its way here, or I was simply too incompetent to use the search feature. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/59524-hypothermia-and-heat-packs/ According to survival gurus Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury exposure is the biggest outdoor killer in the world. My opinion is that DayZ SA should contribute to that. HYPOTHERMIA An interesting fact is that even exposure to temperatures, that are considered to be no big danger, can lead to symptoms of hypothermia and even be fatal. I heard that even 15° C (59°F) can put the body to stress and 5°C (41°F) can even lead to death - however only in rare cases. I think in Chernarus+ hypothermia should be an issue. Unlikely to get hyperthermic in this climate. :D On the gameplay side this would mean players have look for good clothes and keep warm. Fascinating considering campers. Bandit snipers would freeze their asses off over time, Interesting. :P Even mild hypothermia can involve shivering (careful snipers!) and diuresis (pee, loss of liquid -> need to drink faster). So for rewarming it would be necessary to wear warmer clothes (cotton vs. syntethic), move more frequently (again, bad news for campers) or make a fire (funny, considering snipers again). Moderate hypothermia is a real possibility in Chernarus, involving slow and labored movements accompanied by a stumbling pace and mild confusion. So players with these symptoms would look pretty much like... ZOMBIES! Only cleaner, of course - hopefully. IMHO the paradoxical undressing in the final stages should be left out. I mean there are limits, or?

    KoS ? Lol wut?

My guess: Distance. Quite some gamers seem to come from other FPS games, where the concept of distance ususally involves to goal to get as close as possible to experience a close combat bloodbath. Or something like that. ARMA, DayZ and its predecessors are different. I still remember my first experiences in Operation Flashpoint CWC. Suddenly I could get shot by little blackish greenish dots on the horizon. This quite frustrating in the beginning. I think that is the adaptation process many newcomers to ARMA or DayZ have to go through now. PS: Just jesterday I had an encounter with another player. He said he is friendly and we chatted a bit. But first I made sure he had no weapon at all when I was still quite far away! ;)
