Its a SURVIVAL game! You are not ment to live and win. during/after or before your death. What good is a survival game if it is not realistic? If you want a balanced play planetside2, thats another fabulous game that is based on team balance. If it was up to me they would add Thermal vision in DayZ so the people that dont cheat have a counter-balance against those that do. I agree with what your saying partially. But I certainly dont expect an infected to just stop hitting and leave me alone because Iam going to die on the next swing... Although I have had that happen. Same with the bear- Sure it is frustrating when you dont hear it sneak up on you, but I certainly would notbe happy if it just left me alone because I was not expecting it to be there. Base building is a chance you take. But it definatly needs to be a bigger map for it to be "Balanced". That is one thing I respect DayZ for more then MOST designers/programmers is they DO NOT succumb to cry baby crap to dumb down the game and ruin it for everybody. If its going to be online- survival- why not Make it realistic? At least that way you can experience some of the consequences of your actions and not pretend drinking gasoline is harmless.

After reading some very interesting and compeling reads in this forums.. I was wanting to ask you guys to share a story that was memoriable to you in the game and that was rather immersive!? PLEASE NO stories that lead up to bad mechanics or otherwise emproptue of the devs work or future focus... I would love to read what your story was/is

@VodkaFish Please dont cheat! Learn where items spawn, learn how to look for them, when to look for them, learn to walk or be a little sneaky to obtain things- follow other survivors to there bases and raid them. Learn to find places no-one looks. or methods of finding helicopter crashes, something! Dont resort down the road of someone that cant place a star shaped peice of plastic into a circle hole in a game of perfection and throw the game out the window ruining it for everyone. I understand your frustration but exploiting the game for an unfair advantouge over another person is not the answer. It is a sad and lonely road, costly and may may take your steam subscription, and no one on your friends list will like you and remove you simply because you have a VAC bann! This is just a tip opf the ice berg, cheating is for children that do not fully understand what they are doing so they resort to unfair play to fit in.

I think Fallout shelters would be an acceptable and reasonable addition to the game, they dont need to be "made" they could be static locations by the coast. It could server as a good stepping stone to get the logistics of making your own base...??? I dunno- but also increasing the map area another 740 sq km would take care of alot of problems when it comes to bases being raided...!

You do realize Dayz has never taken kindly to exploiting... Look what they did to North East Airfield. I would not go around exploiting. My advice to you is if the game is not sitting correctly with you on the official servers is to find a moderated modded server, such as DayZ underground or one of uncle zeds servers and reside on there till Easycheat can increase its numbers, lets face it- EVERYBODY knows there is of cheaters plays DayZ, shit- I have seen players flying around in the sky dropping other players to there deaths, killed countless times just hiding inside elektro or cherno where I could not be found, blaseted through walls. I had my entire base one time teleported to random locations all over the map, I know because I found my gate with a 4 combo lock on it ontop of the police station in solnichnty and my combonation for the 4 dail lock on it opened the gate, all my crates were scattered from tissy to black forest to Z-town. WarZ (Infestation stories) branched off of DayZ & its by cheaters for cheaters, they also got into a criminal lawsuit as well... and the fact that Dayz sold millions of copies and the whole 20,000 bans this year from easycheat is not an acceptable number. But just because there is not much push from it currently from the DayZ dev team DOES NOT mean they tolerate it in any amount of degree. How would you like it if someone was destroying your hard work at an immersive payable and fun atmosphere just because they cant hide a few toys here and there? Cheaters in a survival game is the stupidest display of a lack of common sence I can think of. ITS A SURVIVAL GAME, Why cheat at a SURVIVAL game, you are not ment to live forever, your ment to see HOW LONG you can survive! If your not going to place YOURSELF to the test of surviving WHY play it, let alone cheat at it & ruin the experience for those that do.

ok You do realize I was just looking for some story telling, nothing specific? Although I try and stay away from Quora- alot of political content on there and that is the main reason I stopped watching television 12 years ago. & also why watch a politically driven show when I can interactivly participate in my own show? 😛 Although recently I have been having an urge to watch"I am Legend" again with Will Smith. Look at the bright side--- If the food and starvation keeps going the way it is, they could have 10 M-4's and they still will die. HAHAHAHA Thats the beautiful part about dayz- Its not a question of "IF" you will die, its a question of "WHEN" you will die. Speaking of which- I think I will smoke a bowl (because I live in Colorado & can do that) and see if I can find some more food in game.

If someone actualy "hacked" the server to change or to cause this problem. yeah It should be worked out sooner then later. more then likely It was the 1.10 update...

But they will prolly tell you that they rent out the server and they may or wont have access to touch a single thing on it as complaince to the rental or ownership agreement, so more then likely, you will have to wait for an actual Dayz team member to do this. There is a reason that the armed gaurd to datacenters carry M-16's

I will stop here as I am just digging myself into a deeper hole and I do not know that information, but I do know how to get that information... you take the server IP and put it into google, do a little searching as who owns it and other google analytics will eventualy come up with an actual phone number you cal call to a website of the company that hosts the server or has the physical machines present, to maybe even a email address to send inquerries to.

OR IT WAS "THEM" THAT DID IT!!! MUWAHAHAH (I dunno) ROFL... In anycase- thundermight, when there is a place full of people that just are here to just help. It is a rather bad idea to make an enterance cussing and throwing demands... Lesson learned. I know I learned that lesson the hard way. But you are probably more superior to me in all fields of life, beings I live in poverty, most likely, so that may give you the authority to do so. but I am not the only one here, and Being as such I am I will stick my neck out to get it cut off if I feel someone is being unjust. thats just my nature by lifes position.

To my limited experience, but I have owned 3 dayz servers before... there is a file on the servers themselves, this file acts as sort of a backup. after the server reboots it reads this file to determine all the current locations of stuff, players stuff, cars etc... It sounds to me that this file has become "write protected or read only" which would explain the problem. @Uncle Zed Would know more than I

I get ya- So if someone wanted, they could take the M4 bring it to another server, bury it, comeback to the official server, re-acquire it and repeat till he had a bunch of them? or is it the entire shard effected no matter where it is placed it just vanishes and returns to the crate? what happens if you keep the items on your person? Yeah That could be a bad thing.... If Thundermight came in here with a different demeanor he might have had more applicable response... he sounded like a spoiled brat cheater that lost his candy... no offence.
