    Is the zombie respawn on both Stable and Experimental? Haven't really noticed it happening myself, and it seems like there's slightly different experiences with 0.42 depending on which you're using.

    When you get both, you can craft them into a single 2x2 inventory slot and renamed "Putinator" ..as effective as fireaxe.

    STABLE UPDATE IS HERE

    Painted my fire ax and SKS, all rounds loaded! Desync was non-existent on my system, huge improvement in FPS.. Found a rotten tomato this morning. Life is good.

  8. Hey folks, as the topic suggests, I'm looking to see if I can switch to my other computer without a wipe. If your response entails anything about (A.) being an alpha (B.) i was gonna die anyway or (C.) you assume it would work like something else, don't bother, I'll ignore you. I'm hoping to hear from anyone who has actually done this. I've read other posts, and it looks like the jury is out. Some people are saying its stored on BI's servers, but have no first hand knowledge, while others are saying they've done it unsuccessfully (got character wiped). Thanks for your help!

    You should probably just pick one. You're a complete idiot, the PVP Arma 2/3 argument isn't invalid just because you say it is, and your ADD will likely force you to move on to another game long before this game is ever right for you. This makes me feel better, so frag-on kemosabe! Won't be long now..
  12. I don't want to split hairs over the power and accuracy of one weapon to another, but the Experimental patch (0.42) made an unforgivable change to the SKS. Now you are only able to load a single round into the SKS without a stripper clip. This is simply a falsehood as the SKS is designed with a built-in magazine (which can be removed and changed with tools). The "stripper-clip" is nothing more than a fast and efficient method of loading the gun. The other issue is the missing eleventh round. I'm not sure if this was a means of making 20-round boxes equate to two full loads, but it's a relevant downgrade. You should want every possible round you can have; NOTE: this is without a 'chambered' round as one might see on a pistol, for example: 15+1. Eleven rounds cleanly load into the gun prior to releasing the bolt. Let me demonstrate:

    I feel like I've seen the same thing on stable servers too. A guy in my crew the other day was whacking zombies while totally invisible. I've also been slapped by zombies that I can't see or previously disappeared through a wall. Bug or Desync, doesn't matter, its bad and I think it has something to do with one or two inexplicable deaths I've suffered >:(

    I can absolutely submit to this. They also need to make the bipod available to the SKS; I think that would shut everyone up (assuming its functional). There needs to be a way to prevent this thing from turning into a FPS War-simulator, as much as some people want it to be. The CONE OF MYSTERY sounds like it's a little too wide at one end, but I think that may be a temporary solution, due to a lack of importance or resources available to add more variable 'human' mechanics.

    Maybe, who knows? Or maybe he shouldn't have been trying to kill me in the first place because this isn't a FPS PVP War-simulator. Sorry for your confusion, here's the link to Steam's refund policy: Steam Returns and Refunds Accuracy will be improved by future patches as is necessary for the dynamics of the original intent of the game. Because I'm typically using my ax to kill zombies to conserve precious ammo and stay quiet, and also because I'm never trying to kill people unawares, I haven't had a lot of personal experience with the +200 CONE OF MYSTERY .. either way I tend to believe that the developers know what they're doing, and if they wanted the SKS to hit a target at 300-400 meters (remember: 'consistently') they would have fashioned it in kind with the Mosin (which I've seen hit things at 800 m in game). Same goes for the M4.

    Yes, you're describing the merits of a FPS PVP War-simulator. Which is the root of my entire stance. I've said before that tweaks are likely coming, they already reduced the dispersion of the FNX45 back on 0.32 so others will likely follow in suit. I've won several firefights with the SKS recently, all of them inside 30 m; none did I instigate. They start the fight, I finish it. I view the weapons as a security blanket, not a license to kill. My goal is to collect food, survive, improve the quality of my gear and immerse myself in the environment.. and try to interact with people when they aren't trying to kill me. I argue that pinpoint, reliable accuracy with an SKS beyond 200 meters isn't surprising, but also not worth losing sleep over. My argument is based on a couple things: The developers time. This is NOT a FPS War-simulator; there are loads and loads of really cool survival mechanics, objectives, and content that I would love to see (and likely will) before they fine-tune the supposed ineptitude of various weapons. Your focus is probably on engaging in firefights due to your intense reaction to anyone that suggests something to the contrary. The path. We don't know where the game is going.. persistent skills, a widening weapon selection, the prevalence of upcoming non-firearms, etc. Not being able to accurately engage targets beyond 200 m is a low priority in the evolution of this game. Do you think they added the Sportster 22 to cater to the hardcore sniper crowd? Shooting is like riding a bike, but first you have to learn to ride the bike. Hitting a target with an assault rifle is not brain surgery, but I still contend that most people would struggle to hit a 5 inch target at 300 m without some sort of instruction. Especially not without going prone and taking a lot of care with each shot. Lets be mindful of the term 'consistently'

    I think everyone watches so much damn TV that they think its nothing to hit a 5 inch target at 400 meters. The majority of small arm engagments and casualties in modern warfare occur between 50-150 meters, to a much smaller extent at 150-300 meters. Beyond that is exceptionally rare, despite the prevalence of sniper warfare in modern media. Snipers typically engage high-value targets, provide visual reconnaissance, or act as counter snipers. These are among the most extensively trained shooters in any outfit, logging hundreds of hours on ranges, and still engage most targets inside 400 meters. Defense and Freedom On Infantry My point is that the effective range [of weapons] presented in this game is realistic enough (esp. for an alpha) to simulate real-world battle situations should one arise. I contend that most people arguing for more LR accuracy from an SKS, or any other gun, are in fact trying to impose unrealistic elements into the game that suits a PVP arena. I for one don't want to play this game if people are reliably, consistently hitting other players from 1000m with the Mosin or 500m with the SKS. This is ultimately the point of my argument.

    The learning curve is non-existent when all you have to do is point and click. There's no anticipation of the kick, no dragging finger pull, no wind, no concussion, no gun jams, no sight flaws or adjustment (other than range zeroing).. Maybe you've missed my point as well. It may need to be tweaked, but why are you so concerned with shooting something beyond 200 meters with a military weapon, if not to improve your chances of taking down another player? If you're worried about hitting a yet-to-be-added game animal, go find a Mosin. EDITED TO ADD: On a separate note, perhaps this is a good argument for persistent skill development of characters. Shooting accuracy is certainly a learned skill that requires practice and consistent technique. If you get killed you lose the skill and start over from scratch.

    Here's the thing, you and I might be able to hit a deer at a respectable range, but you and I don't represent the 1.7-Million people that bought this game. I didn't direct that comment at hunters, or retired/active military personnel, or hobbyists... hopefully that's obvious. I would never question you/their skill in or out of a game. However, a very large portion of the people playing this game have never fired a gun, never hit a target, never shot a live animal, etc. Furthermore, many of them are in places other than North America where gun ownership is difficult and far more uncommon. Of course anyone has the potential to be a good shot, given some of the great tips you offered, some time at a range, maybe an instructor-led lesson; but this isn't the case, nor should it be something to be defensive about. The point of my response is that time and time again Dean & Co. have reminded us that the vision for this game is one of survival, NOT a PVP war-simulator. Of course its an interesting aspect, but part of what makes it so great is that it hasn't devolved into a giant sniper battle. The fact that its both difficult and unrewarding to kill other players has everything to do with keeping this game on track and preserving objectives akin to survival in an apocalypse.

    There's a certain 'necessary' element to the difficulty of hitting targets at range. In games like COD and BF, there's an assumption that your character is a trained killer.. emphasis on "trained". In this game you're a survivor, no background story, no military affiliation, no reason for being able to hit a target >200m. Let me be clear, with anything other than a fine-tuned hunting rifle and a naturally steady hand, hitting a target more than 200 meters away is VERY difficult. I think we've all bought into the notion that because we have a steady hand with a mouse we should able to hit anything with a rifle in a game, hence the frustration with the OP I think there will be fine-tuning of exactly how this all gets implemented at final-release, but I propose that 90-95% of the people in this forum couldn't hit a deer at 300 meters IRL with an SKS or M4. Since this game is not a PVP war-simulator, I don't think the developers will lose sleep over this particular dose of realism.

    Has anyone mentioned anything about painting other things, like protector cases and backpacks? I agree with an early post that the more features the better. You should be able to spray anything, including masks and clothing. A totally black payday mask would be pretty intimidating.
