^^ This. You can't use ruined ammo. Try it. You'll see. Also you can see the damage gradation very easily with scopes. Pristine or Worn ones are pretty good and you'll clearly see through it but from damaged to ruined, you'll see more cracks till it blocks the sight completely. It doesn't affect food yet, or canteens/water bottles.(no leaks yet) It doesn't affect clothes other than the esthetic of them. Badly damaged clothes have thorns and are discolored while pristine ones are, well, pristine. I've used all guns, and shot a lot of zombies with them. Tested them for ranges and what not. Shot about 25 zombies with the M4 and Mosin, and about 15 with the pistols. The zeroing works. You can change the firing rate. And for me , the M4 is very accurate. The mosin is less trouble since you don't have different parts with conditions.

Finally found a server with time changes. Like the poster above me, I love the sunrise in DayZ. Moonlight over Refy shipwreck. Shadowy shape in the night. First morning lights. Enjoying the view. Colors gradually fading in. A hero on the rise. Had to leave because it was getting late IRL. Last moment caught.

Adding some more. My friend and I scouted the area from Berezino to Refy. Looked like some bandits had their way there. Two dead survivors. One inside the shipwreck top right corner, the other between the two containers closest to the side opening of the wreck. We tried to look for the bandits who killed them, but either they were very sneaky, or they had left a while ago. The heroic shape. Hero on the sunrise. God rays piercing through. Gotta love the sunrise!

Thanks!! While looking back at the screenshots, I really think that's what I'm gonna do. I'm leaving the videos and streams to you Sheriff, and I'll try and capture events and moments with screenshots/pictures added with some story. I really enjoy doing that. Sharing some more adventure in Chernaurus. Met the sheriff of Berezino with his deputies 2 days ago. It was nice to find hope in these dark dayz. Shared some stories and talked about tough choices we have to make in the zombie apocalypse. We all lost someone dear in this hell... (light rp ^_^ ) Deputy Smiley and Mason heading in different directions and saying goodbye for now.

Glad I could meet with you guys. It's really nice to be able to help the Sheriff anyway I can. Will try and join up today's event. Meeting up with the Sheriff of Berezino, Deputy Smiley and a women called "Mason" who had some things to discuss with the Sheriff. The talks went well, The whole story/mystery hasn't been solved yet, but Mason left in good terms for now. Now for a little back story on my character. (Haven't got time yesterday to explain my look and why I play this way.) Back in the end of 2012 beginning of 2013 the first player I ever encountered in DayZ mod was a nice chap named TheBoxMan319. I was pretty new to DayZ and he helped me with controls and other basic manipulations. I asked why his look was so different from others and why he didn't just shoot me like many do, and that's where he explained to me the Hero/Bandits skin changes for players based on their behavior. Heroes, even with powerful and rare gear, risk their lives to help strangers. In DayZ mod, there's a stat called "humanity". When you kill/murder other players, it gets in the negatives and your character's face gets hidden with a bandana/clothe piece and you become a bandit. Easy for other players to see you've been up to no good. On the other hand, if you kill bandits, bandage others, give morphine, epinephrine or bloodbags to others you gain humanity and passed a certain point (5000) your player skin changes to the "hero" skin. (basically your character skin in the PMC expansion/dlc for ArmA2) Liking this style of play very much, I set my mind on becoming one, and since then been a "hero". That's why I tried to have a similar look in DayZ SA, and why I'm trying to help the Sheriff of Berezino.

To each his own. I don't enjoy killing players. There's no "good" feeling coming out of it for me.

It takes at least a few seconds to spawn on the ground. I rarely seen items never reappear.

That's the risk of being a hero. But helping those 3 guys at the start was pretty bad-ass! Real hero there. To each his own. The first human player I met in the DayZ mod 14 months ago was a hero player. Since then I always been one. It's not easy feat, but for me it's more gratifiyng. I've been killed more times than I can count, but for all the "thanks!!" (and sincere ones) I had for helping out meant more for me than anything else. I lost virtual items, and gain real gratitude. Thanks for sharing. Respect.

Sharing some more! Finally found a server that time changes! It's only 1st person so no character screenshot. (almost) Seen sunrise, but it was my first sunset. Couldn't stay any longer to catch some more sadly. Tall shadows in the deserted town. Dark clouds over head... Don't forget to eat your beans! (It's alright if you fancy them hot.) Heading west. Dead line. No one will ever be on the other end.

This is mostly what I was gonna say. Anyone played Project Zomboid? Dean Hall and the guys behind Project Zomboid have great ideas that they share. (shredding shirts to make bandages was in Project Zomboid first, Dean asked if it was ok to add this to DayZ, they were pleased to say yes!) They should make a statement similar to PZ when you start: "This is how you die" It's all about what happens between the moment you "wake up" (spawns) in the ZA (zombie apocalypse) and the moment you die. Eventually, everyone dies. (to zombies, to glitches/bugs or to other players) That's what it's all about. I don't KoS. That's me. Others do. That's ok. To each his own. Don't get attached to your loot/gear. There's no griefing.

Wait till the game is out. This is pretty much for testing purposes and helping financing the developpment. I enjoy it pretty much since I don't mind loosing items and starting again. Have you played the DayZ mod? Right now the SA has less features, but I do enjoy it very much. To each his own. ( I don't KoS btw...)

Alright. I've replied to a few of the comments with different views and I'm gonna share mine one last time. I don't KoS. It's not how I play DayZ. I've played mainly "heroes" in the mod and continue doing so. But I understand it. Those two guys who were shot should have been more careful. OP could have talked to them, ignore them or kill them. Those were basically the possible courses of action. I think it's ok to have some KoS in DayZ to had to the general cautiousness we should demonstrate. SInce it's early alpha and not the full game yet, there's still not many zombies or threats except for other players. On a side note, I've been playing the DayZ mod for the past 14 or 15 months, and other similar survival games both single player and multiplayer. The multiplayer ones are more interesting for all the possible interactions with others that you can have. I've seen many many players complain about KoS, but I don't know if you remember a series of games named S.T.A.L.K.E.R. ? It was basically a survival game pretty similar to those we play today. Excepting, it was single player. But, I remember been shot and killed on sight by Bandits, Duty, Freedom, Clearsky, Military or other factions in the game. If AI/bots can KoS, then why not players? SInce they are human players? Since we lose our items upon death? We knowingly play a multiplayer game with the possibility of being shot and killed by other players. If we don't accept that, we should play single player games. There are many ways to play DayZ in singleplayer (not the SA right now) and just kill zombies while being a Robert Neville type of survivor since there's no one else, or add AI non-hostile bots to help you. The possibilities are there. I don't like being killed on sight, but it's part of the game. Of course, I feel it's a bit weird to play a multiplayer zombie apocalypse survival game just to kill other players, since like I said, there are hundreds of other games out there made specifically for that. It's a sandbox game. People have the right to play the way they see fit. To each his own. Respect. (a bit immature with the carebear thing...) There are hundreds of games out there made specifically for players to compete with other players in "deathmatches" with firearms. DayZ was created as a survival game and the possible interactions with players is what makes it different from other games. Of course, there's no "right" way to play the game excepting cheating in it...

You just care to much for your virtual loot to try and interact with others. Of course, you might not be interested in interacting with other players in a multiplayer game. Hmm, should you then go play a coop game where your friends and you kill AI or bots? Or, if you just want to kill other players, should'nt you play another FPS/TPS that's basically just made for that? ArmA2 and ArmA3 have great coop modes vs AI and multiplayer warfare, but again , to each his own, and you might like to just "grief" others.... Honestly I don't know you and won't tell you what to do. These are meer sudjestions.

Well right now there seems to be a problem with servers. 2 days ago I made a little test. Logged in at 10h30AM, 2h00PM, 5h00PM, 9h00PM and finally 11h00PM (all eastern time) in about 15 to 20 different servers. (private, public, Vilayer CA, GA, NJ, DA, Gameservers, MPGS) and they were always on the same time. I've been looking for a Day/Night cycle one for the past 5 days or so, but haven't found 1. Interestingly enough, even the private servers stating "24/7 Night only" in the description were on the same day time as the others.

Loved your vids. But quick question, how do you access a server with only the IP in the stand alone? I'm confused since I tried a few times with no success. I would love to be able to tag along and help out the Sheriff of Berezino! Edit: nevermind... I found it finally... ( :rolleyes: )
