Thanks for sharing! Interesting interview!! I just hope they don't listen to all the whiners and make the game they really want. The forums have such a negative impact on game making. Everyone claims to have constructive advice or seems to know exactly where the game should be going. In the real world, if you like the game, then good for you: enjoy!! B) But if you don't like it and keep complaining about this, and that, and whatnot, then go make your own game that you'll enjoy. To each his own. Respect. And thanks for sharing again! (wow, I really hope we see Namalsk with the Stand Alone engine when the modding tools come out!! In 12 to 15 months, if everything goes well!! ) :beans:

When the game comes out, server files for private servers and modding tools are supposed to come out at the same time. (or around the same period)

Can you trust a stranger with a loaded gun?
odin_lowe replied to SentencedToBurn's topic in General Discussion
I play pretty much like Zecele play. What you shared about your experiences, I experienced it too and feel lucky about it. I mean, I'm grateful because it's a very rewarding social interaction. Establish trust between strangers is something vital to the experience of DayZ in my opinion. It's very gratifying. :beans: B) Edit: Met these two strangers at the Svetlojarsk PD. We shared ammo and guns, and ended playing together for 3 hours. -
I like the idea OP mentioned, but what Guppy said is a must in that case.

Yes. I'd love that. They added cowboy hats and whatnot recently so I wouldn't be surprised. The more variety of clothing, the better IMO. :beans:

It's a common bug. Been like this since hte mod though... Don't drop items near pine trees, bushes, or anywhere near something that might "eat" your items... ;) (I had a protective case that was eaten by a tree just like you... Since then, never had anything else getting stolen like that by the environment)

I'm not into banditery, but Namalsk's my favorite map... GG!

So much unnecessary divisiveness over game modes
odin_lowe replied to real meatshield's topic in General Discussion
I play both. I don't understand the hate either. It's a choice, and those who are playing on Regular servers don't affect players on Hardcore servers and vice-versa. I like 1PP more for immersion purpose, but that's just me. To each his own. There's no need for such hate really... -

 He didn't cry. Those aren't tears, they are words. Well structured sentences and an opinion shared in a respectful way.

Story Time ***WARNING DESPICABLE BEHAVIOR INVOLVED***
odin_lowe replied to TheNewWorldLeader's topic in General Discussion
And you're sharing this here? You know they might check the forums from time to time and might see this. If I was one of your "Clan mates/team mates" who you shot, I would ask you why you did it first, then depending on the answer, would or would not talk to you ever again for such an immature behavior. It's just a game, but doing something like this implies a chain of though and a behavior foul and, well, evil. :emptycan: -
EDITED: Are you happy with CURRENT zombie implementation?
odin_lowe replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Being glitchy as they are for walking through walls, hitting you while being invisible or simply push you through walls yourself, I'd say they break immersion and can be annoying on several occasions. But I have to say that I seen major improvements on their behavior. That said, in the current state of this software, planning organized matches between clans or within a clan itself is not a clever thing to do if you want a "controlled" environment. When the zombies get better coding, when we get private locked servers or with white lists, then, it would be possible to do your organized matches. Till then, it's pretty much... Edit: I'm not satisfied as they are, but I'm satisfied with how they are getting improved since December. -
I would love a leg holster, but like you said, either would be good. They could just make them so you can have only 1 holster at a time. I hope they don't view this as more storage, I only use courier or improvised backpacks mostly and it's by choice. Oh well, we'll see.

Yes that is true and is a bit problematic right now. Happened to a lot of us... -

"on experimental: cheater alarm" , "Server: CZ/SK TheLastSurvivors.cz - Hardcore" That's not experimental. The experimental branch only has official dev servers with the term "experimental" in them. No one can rent an experimental server. That happened in the stable branch. -
Your best story of finding a random friendly player.
odin_lowe replied to nogard18's topic in Gallery
I've encountered many non-hostile players in the game but I guess this was the "best" of my encounters. Stumbled upon these 2 fellas on a 10 players experimental server a while ago. All 3 of us logged in about the same time, and the zombies were attacking Richard (right side player). Tom (on the left) was bandaging him. I got down from the police station, and after talking for a bit we decided to join up and play together to say what would happen. We traded some items and armed ourselves and went on with our exploration. Tom was a new player in DayZ and only had the game for about 2 days at that time. Richard and I were experienced players so we were glad to be able to help him and guide him a little. We went to the NEAF, and proceeded south towards Berezino after that, hitting all the small towns while getting there. Arriving near Berezino, we saw this fresh spawn running away from zombies, about 4 of them, so we decided to help him out. After dispatching of those, we gave him food and some basic supplies and parted ways. We helped a few other fellas in Berezino, got attacked by one, and had a lot of fun. I'm not gonna post all the screenshots I took, or give more details (unless you really want to :) ) but we played for 3 hours together, using only direct voip (we exchanged steam id for later play time) and had a great time. These encounters are amazing. :beans:  B) Edit: Adding a last pic for epic factor. With the dark clouds looming and the light dimming, it was an awesome atmosphere! -
A showdown in Balota, shit tonnes of action! (with all the boring bits cut out)

Have you seen the trailer for DayZ back in December? They'll eventually add this. You can see in the end of the video, the player limps.

we need to talk about the walkie talkies
odin_lowe replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
Hai, so desu ne!! When you go passed the effective range, the text is missing some letters to simulate static or loss of frequency. It's pretty nice and I like that feature. Walkies are great! -

odin_lowe replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
Yes. It has an approximate range of 1000m or so. Further, you loose signal. Instead of Direct Chat, you select the frequency you chose on the walkie itself, and press the same key you bound to talk. Players in your proximity will be able to hear you too, but further than 50 meters, only other players with a walkie-talkie tuned to the same frequency and turned on will be able to hear you. Someone used it as a numbers station at Green Mountain on a certain server a while ago... Very entertaining and immersive stuff. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/168707-the-ccsd-chernarian-creepy-stuff-department-needs-investigators-for-the-radio-transmission-mystery/?hl=%20number%20%20station -
I never dared approach this place more than this... You're a very brave man.

odin_lowe replied to irl-calibre's topic in General Discussion
I always carry a spare walkie-talkie on me if I encounter someone who wants to team up, and role play a little at the same time. It's one of the things I like that adds so much to immersion. Like you said, I too wish that the batteries would last longer for those.
