Eating and drinking system - Please, just give it up.
odin_lowe replied to Ham_Sandwich27's topic in General Discussion
Alpha. Balancing. Mods. We have very good chances of seeing the 3 points you shared being implemented eventually, one way or another. But in all honesty, no "noob" should "play" a software in early stage access, commonly known as alpha, and think it would be "easy" or believe he'll have a great time. I really enjoy DayZ SA, but I've had a lot of experience in unfinished games and softwares, and knew what I was getting myself into. If you just meant "noob" as a new player in non-pejorative way, then I've been a noob, and survived. Each experimental patch places you in front of new challenges with the mechanics and such so each time you opt it, you're a noob. -
What lmstr said. When a player open fire on the gas pumps and make a gas station explode, every time another player enters the "area" (about 1000m) around the said exploded gas station, it'll blow again.

I have been testing out and playing experimental branch since they first started giving us access to it. Always opted in every time there was a new experimental build. After the first 3-4 experimental versions, they started to wipe characters every time. I've started new more than a hundred times. It's easy. At least for me, I'm not saying it's easy for everyone... But when I play, I'm the one playing, so I like it... It's easy. B) It's fun. Have fun. (Or at least try to, if you can't, than find another game or source of entertainment. It'll be easier that way.) -

Personally, I like it. I hope 1000% that the DayZ mod, and DayZ stand alone continue to separate themselves from one another. Currently they feel very different, and I love that. To each his own. -
Dayz standalone -NICEST ENCOUNTERS- Must watch!

I don't really see the pixels you're talking about. Funny video. Thanks for sharing. En passant, salut de la part d'un autre québécois!! B) -
Can we stop this instant-ruined-everything stuff?
odin_lowe replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
In 600hrs+, 1000 zombies + killed and thousands of KM running around everywhere, it only happened to me 2 times, Riders Jacket from Pristine to ruined, while most vest get damaged or badly damaged. I don't know why it happens so much to some players, but in all honesty, I couldn't care less since it almost never happen to me. (How selfish of me, right?) I don't think it'll be "fixed" in one day, mostly getting more balanced as the netcode gets better and better. (better netcode = less "desync" and zombies hitting you when you're not even there...) -
I really like the new shotgun sound compared to the old placeholder one. It feels much better now!! It's getting a lot better with each new 0.50... version!!

I'm hoping to get there to see it at least once before it gets removed. When the experimental patch went live, I jumped right in and didn't know it was there. I was in Severograd and sadly didn't go see it at that time... Hoping to check it out tonight. (if I survive the trip, ;) ) Edit: Made it! Grabbed some shots explored it for a while. I like it. When I read that the whole "underground" thing was possibly only gonna be simple basements and such, I was gladly surprised to see the underground bunker/biohazard dump at the base. It's fairly simple, but deeper than I thought, so the possibilities for underground facilities get much more interesting.

I try searching around the previous posts but haven't seen anything "new" about the patch, most people just talk about heli crashes and how this and that is rare, but, have anyone notice that since last 0.50 experimental the shotgun mp-133 now has new sound. I had tested it when it first came out, and it was re-using old sound files from other weapons. (the double barrel shotgun sounds) Old shotgun sounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERvFKb0F8og And also, haven't seen this old guy before in-game, only the screenshots provided in the dev blog. Sorry if it already have been posted, but I haven't checked all 64 pages... (only about 40 as I participate in this discussion...)

Better enjoy it while we can as Senshi said he was gonna remove it, as it wasn't meant to exist... :( http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/213142-twitter-senchi-this-ugly-milbase-in-experimental-patch-is-not-supposed-to-be-here/ Maybe he just means he will relocate it, who knows.

You can use the lockpicks to lock and unlock doors now. If you come across an already locked door, simply melee your way through it! B)

I can confirm that there's still this one, static, always been there, in the parking lot of the office, in "terminus". http://dayzdb.com/map#7.019.047 Just came back from experimental (notice the lever action rifle on my shoulder) and it's still there.

Awesome. B) Fantastic choice of music!!

Weekend of experimental fun. Current experimental hardcore (1PP) character. Current experimental regular (3PP) character.

He won DayZ, because he found a SMERSH vest to attach the smersh backpack, making it the biggest vest currently in DayZ. When attaching the SMERSH backpack to the SMERSH vest, it dosen't take the backpack slot anymore. SMERSH vest has 16 slots.

I've found quite a few rabbits near "Terminus". (The NW train station/bus garages) All along this western part, I've found lots of boars and deers, and when I wasn't seeing neither, there's was a rabbit hidden by grass or trees. I was kind of sad that you can't craft leather courier bag with their pelts anymore. Upgrading it to improvised wasn't possible, and it's ok since it's just a rabbit pelt, but at least we could make a small and practical courier bag. Not anymore.

Just came back from a small session. Servers seem to be back online. I could test a bit and was pleased to find a repeater! This thing is a beast! Also, I haven't read much about this, except that someone posted here that you could open cans of food with a crowbar, but the opening can system seems to be all messed up!! We can't open 90% of cans with a can opener, only beans it seems. I could open cans of peaches with only a machete, and it would always be at 100% without any spilling out. Didn't find anything yet to open up tuna cans. And when using a crowbar, lots of spills!! Probably placeholder or temporary, but it's kind of useful to know.

Glad to see you're back Rhodes!! It's been a while! B) Here's a little video showcasing it. Thanks to Survivor_Ted. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/212191-experimental-branch-050-discussion/page-45#entry2135406 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERvFKb0F8og

 Very nice! Thanks for sharing! I can't wait till we get a sound overhaul!! I think there's only 1 guy on the 60+devs who works on the sound fxs. (at least from what I heard from Dean at the panel) :( Gotta be patient! Edit: So, animation and description says 4 shells, but you actually put 6 in it and shoot 6? Interesting. Work in progress.

fire adveture is stop before finish
odin_lowe replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in General Discussion
After all this running around from Novo to Berezino, he probably wasn't cold anymore... I agree. Server restarts or crashes happen at the wrong time way too many times. We all experienced it at least once. Some were saved by a server restart during a firefight, but many lost friends because of them. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience Shrub! Your actions will be remembered by Govner for sure! -
If they do official DLCs, I doubt they would add a map from ArmA2. We can be SURE that when we get mods, all those sweet ArmA2 maps (Namalsk, Taviana, Pantera, etc.) will make their way into the Stand Alone. Personally I'd love a map for DayZ set in Japan. The only zombie apocalypse game I played that was in Japan was Ryu ga no Gotoku : Of the end, and it was fun, but was more action oriented and not "survival" at all. Not mentioning not being an open-world either. But that's just my personal taste. As for any official DLC, I wonder if we'll really get any and what would they be.

I didn't say it was the case right now. There's currently a lot of abuse by server admins. I personally don't mind KoS and accept it as it's part of DayZ, the current state of the game and there's nothing we can do about it. But I understand why many don't like it at all and can't wait for the private shards to come along so they can reign over their little virtual kingdom. ;)
-
Coday, don't try to argue or justify why KoS is a "bad" mentality (like it or not people, it is fundamentally bad) with General Zod. The way he replies over on the forums and how he shows his convictions clearly demonstrate he's evil, or at least his intentions are. He seem to have a lot of anger in real life and evacuate excess rage in DayZ. (and probably other video games) Everyone has his own argument to "justify" killing other players, pretty much like in real life, how humans advocate religion, "freedom", territory, money or even vengeance to kill another human. Curious thing the human mind.
-
You know private shards are coming? Once these arrive, server admins will have the rights to impose rules like these. Official word.
