    Character reset happens more in 3pp than 1pp?

    I've never experienced a character reset. I often got the "Couldn't retrieve character from the main hive" message back in 0.48 and 0.49 when they were real, spawn fresh on the coast, but immediately looged out of the server to join again and always got my character back. Always.

    Beans for nice M4 ACOG action and finally getting the orange mountain backpack guy! :thumbsup: I don't really enjoy PvP, but good action is good action! B)

    Post Your Gear So Far

    With the arrival of private hives, character connected to one server is back again, and it reminds me a lot of the DayZ mod. I really enjoyed it and gotta say that with the stand, it's even more fun! (At least for me! :lol: I never liked the whole base building thing...) Anyway, I've been alive for a while now with this private hive character. Tried to make it look a bit like the one of the default skin you got when spawning as a survivor on the shore in the mod. On a side note, I switched the stock parts (handgrip and stock) between the AKM and AK74 and gotta say they look much "better" that way!! They look much similar to their DayZ mod/ArmA2 counter parts but overall they feel more authentic to me.

    True. But Streamers are not a reference. They do PVP to get viewers. They usually say a lot of non-sense. Players play to have fun, enjoy their entertainment and do it for all the reasons they find taking some time off the real world is important. I often see people go "It's just a game, to hell with integrity!" and laugh of their own contradiction of finding silly ones who set up self objectives. Of course, making it sound self righteous is absurd, but in all 700hrs+ of playing between survivor and hero style, I've never killed someone who didn't deserve it. I stick to my rules because I like the way the game evolves around this play style, and I don't impose it to others or say it's the right way to play the game, as there's no "right" way to play and enjoy games. Judging from the content of his story, the way it's written and the maturity of it's formulation, I'd say I believe 90% of what happened was true and as described. Which for me, is a true "hero" playstyle. Anyway, we're all monsters. The choices and decisions we make with the power in our hands makes us better, or worse monsters, but mankind will always be a monstrosity.

    I'd really like a Story section for anyone who wants to share stories. Maybe a pinned thread in the gallery for all the stories with screenshots added? Anyway, I like both ideas, as a bounty board places some objectives and somewhat, player based missions for all of us light role play fellas. :thumbsup:

    Quoting something I said earlier, just stumbled upon a glimpse to what we can expect in terms of visuals with the updated engine. I love all the eye candy, but personally I want that oil lamp first! :lol:

    Do you mean, does the old files stays on the hard drive and use memory for nothing? No, they are removed and need to be downloaded again. You can go back and forth between stable and experimental, the only thing it does is download the necessary files to make it work.

    They will never disappear completely as the private shards lets you choose between 1PP and 3PP when renting them. Removing the 1PP completely isn't in the interests of BI and won't happen. (I'm pretty sure of it.)

    There's is no point going back to 0.49 as the game isn't going to stay in 0.50 forever... It's in development and not finished. If there's something that really bothers you, just go play something else and comeback to check if it still bothers you after a while. You always have the option to opt in experimental as the loot spawns are great at the moment. Anyway, we'll have other wipes, other patches, interruption of services and everything in between by the time the game is finished. Almost everything in the game right now is a place holder or an unfinished feature, so there's really no point going backwards.

    Hmm, I often find them under the blue trailers scattered around the map, and in the small yellow houses where the weapon spawns. (in the corner between the bed and fireplace) I have found quite afew there on exp.

    If they don't officially implement it, you can be sure someone will try (and probably achieve) making it for the game anyway as soon as we get the ability to create mods.     True! I still remember this and gotta say I love Fallout! My only problem with it really is that it's "players" you kill, skin and eat, and not NPC/AI in some fantastic futuristic post nuclear apocalypse world. It's probably just the context surrounding it that makes me cringe teeth a little. ( And maybe because it came just after we saw cannibals in WD... random events? Maybe. A prison in WD? Let's put a prison in DayZ! :P I find it funny that's all. I don't mind it that much.) On a side note too, the Derringer is pretty good, but the recoil is intense!! I was surprised at first. But just look at it! Fashion! :D

    I understand what you mean, but I didn't ask in any way to remove any features. I started by saying that I disliked that feature. Did it stopped me from playing the game? Of course not! I agree with you that only in very few occasions was video games a factor in crimes or acts of violence. Anyway, I don't want to derail anymore. I agree still, this is the game where "anything" would be possible and push back the boundaries of what we can do to survive!

    You totally fail to understand my point. No matter how YOU see it, a bad behavior is a bad behavior. Simply put, most of us have played GTA and have fun with this game. We don't go out in real life and steal cars, run over people or punch anyone we see for fun, as we know (some of us at least) that there are repercussions for these acts, and even without legal repercussions, they are disrespectful and fundamentally wrong. BUT, not everyone sees this distinction about virtual world and real world. Thus my very harsh example, and reply to what I believed summed up like "it's just a video game, so it doesn't matter." It's just a personal taste that I don't like cannibalism and condone it in real life, and don't like it in any form in video games. I'll deal with that. The bigger problem here is I'm conscious of the poor judgement of people today, and how many video games, or features in them, create more and more an acceptance of bad behaviors and morally disturbed actions. Don't take this personal, as I was replying to someone else, who clearly stated what my problem was: Everything in video games is acceptable, since it's virtual and has no impact in real life. It's a personal taste, and I usually don't reply or post opinion about this because a lot of people defend these topics, blindly. Think what you want.

    Just because you don't mind cannibalism in a video game doesn't mean it's not wrong. Ok, ok, ok. Let me get this strait. I've seen lots of post defending a morally bad features because it's a video game. Let's say it's a video game (eroge type) where you have sex with kids. Since it's a video game it's ok right? Too many arguments defend morally bad actions and behavior because they are in the "virtual world" or video games. I'm having problems with this, as common sense, and good judgement seem to be more and more off balanced recently. It's experimental, so it's subject to change, but my hope is that they didn't add cannibalism because of the Walking Dead.... This thread is derailing bad.

    Cannibalism isn't accepted in any part of the world, but in video game form it's another thing. Thus the "issue" I'm talking about. I'm not talking about real cannibalism, but having cannibalism in a game can make it banned in some countries, yes. The main problem for me is that now fresh spawn will be killed not just for fun now, but players will have a "reason" to do it. It was already a problem (for some and not others of course, the ones holding the guns don't care) that fresh spawns were getting killed, now that there's some gain from it, be sure that these murders will get on the rise.

    Yes it is! I like that place a lot. B) No problems so far on experimental. In about 5 hours of gameplay, had only 1 session lost, no crashes, no real FPS drops, pretty smooth experience. I personally don't like cannibalism. Some say it had "realism" or "authenticity", but I'm pretty sure it's gonna cause some issues in some parts of the world. There's no reason to add it in my opinion. In a way, it's gonna make KoS of fresh spawn go up and become even more frequent, as players will skin them to make food. They used to be killed for fun by some, now a lot of players will have a reason to do so...

    I've had the same thing happened. But somehow, after a while, when I picked up another item in my hands, it reappeared briefly under me, to disappear again. So I tested out a bit with putting items in my hands, and it reappeared. Had this happen with rifles in my hands too, and to "fix" it, I wasn't dragging my in hands item to the vicinity first, instead of using "x", the action bar or the scroll wheel actions.

    LRS messed up?

    You can, but ACOGs are rare as they only spawn at UH-60 crash sites, and PSO is still rare, spawning only at long barracks, but not frequently. Of course it would help, but it might take a long time to check.
