Joining the "This game isn't..." band-wagon. This game isn't what you think it is, it's about everything you didn't think it would be... On a side note, don't stop being who you are and how you play. If it's how you like to play, just keep doing it. It still feels much better when you help someone and he's grateful, than just going around shooting everyone and everything that moves, on the motive that you can't trust anyone... To each his own. It is a known bug. The shotgun only shoots 1 pellet per shot, or 2 if you shoot both barrels at once. (Instead of dozens...) It'll be fixed with a bunch of other fixes in an eventual patch.

After last week's Experimental character wipe, I started my adventure again. I had some free time this week-end so I enjoyed some lone wolf wandering. Regular experimental branch. The hunter. (the hardcore branch character is a fisherman.... B) ) He started his life killing a red deer with a kitchen knife, so he became a hunter. As food was pretty scarce too, since servers were not restarting very often, it was convenient to have other supplies of food. Killed 2 deers, a boar, which I used the pelt to make the leather improvised backpack, and a rabbit. Next up is my hardcore character. He is wearing almost the same thing, except that it's the opposite for the jacket and pants. Together they have 2 complete outfits. A boonie was necessary as you can now attach the fishing lures to it. Experimental hardcore character. The fisherman.

Didn't play much recently, and had some time to play so I caught up a bit this week-end. Went to experimental and had some fun. Night time fishing. Food was pretty scarce since servers were not restarting very often, so when I saw this deer, I couldn't let this chance to have more food slip by. Armed with only a kitchen knife and a lot of patience, I finally slayed the beast. Sadly, you still can't craft an improvised leather backpack with the deer skin. Only boar works. I made camp and cooked the meat while catching my breath from all this running around trying to hit the deer. Even though I didn't have an axe, I was lucky enough to find a pile of 5 logs in a thin shed near where the deer was. There was also a burlap sac, and since I already had a rope, I made an improvised backpack. Comforting light. I still appreciate the gas lamp. And a final one, as a mark of respect to the one that started this thread. Thanks Vandal Gab!

For me it doesn't happen as often as getting the t-shirt ruined when getting shot as a fresh spawn. Having it already ripped makes it faster to bandage, and saved my life more times than I can think of... (Getting shot as a fresh spawn.) I don't bleed from zombie hits, as I don't let them hit me. ;) (Dunno why many players "hate" the zombies, apart from the glitches, because I never felt threaten by them even when they were 1 hit killing players. You just gotta know how to deal with them.) 9 out of 10 occasions, I store all my valuables in my backpack, and keep jacket and pants empty, as the more items you have in them, the more damage you take. B) :thumbsup: The AK is a bit too much pimped like that so I usually keep it on my back. Feels less threatening. Makes it easier to enter conversation with others instead of talking with bullets. I know it's very basic right now, and mostly placeholder, but I love fishing!! :thumbsup:

This is what happened to me and made me stay in the DayZ universe since it came out.

I think it's probably because of the starting idea. When I first started playing DayZ mod when it came out, we use to spawn on the coast with a flashlight, painkillers, and a bandage. (Not always, since a lot of servers used custom settings, but the mostly on the "official" servers.) Painkillers don't have a function right now, but when I spawn the first thing I do is take off my t-shirt and tear it to make rags, so basically I have a flashlight and bandages, just like we use to. It's prone to change eventually there's no doubt. On a side note, I don't use the starting flashlight, but I love the pistol or rifle flashlight!

FNX is the "best". Magnum is the easiest to get around. 1911 is my favorite for personal reasons. Here's a pic for the "gallery" section. (dunno how to change sections once topic is created, sorry mate.)

They only spawn at crashed helicopters sites, which are removed for now. Not sure about .48, but as soon as we get crashed heli sites back, grenades will be back too. (unless they add them to other military spawn tables)

Humans never cease to amaze me. Who are you to judge who should live and who should die. This isn't justice, it's pure mockery.

Usually I laugh when comparing DayZ to real life, but in that case a man probably got killed in real life. When you die in a game you can start over. Not in this case. This man probably had a family and even though he might have done things wrong, didn't "deserve" to die. That's a bit too much mate. I seen many people die, but not everyone needs to.

The roads are only placeholders as there's gonna be towns and settlements in these parts eventually.

I like all the pistols. They all have their flaws and most players hate them, but I've been saved by my sidearm more times than I can could ever imagine at first. Personally, I love the 1911. It's very accurate, and since you have two mags already, I'd say give it a go. Engraved or normal it's my favorite pistol at the moment. Most powerful, versatile and high powered is still the FNX, but the magnum is very close with it's easy availability and plenty ammo to find everywhere. Anyway, to each his own!! (I'd love to have a Beretta 9m, or Glock 17!! I'm sure a lot of players would like a desert eagle too... :D )

Never had anything disappear in 350+ hrs of gameplay, but this is fantastic. Very informative and helpful. Thanks for sharing!! :thumbsup:
