If you wanna see some nice roleplaying in DayZ, I'd suggest watching Snaftii's videos. I've watched a lot of his stuff since he started making them and he's also been mentioned on the community spotlight recently. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224329-community-spotlight-22-apr-15/#entry2255203 For various interactions and light rp on private shard, there's no better place for me than the Colony. http://www.insidedayzstandalone.com/forum/ Safe travels.

Came back to Chernarus after a long absense
odin_lowe replied to Pvt_Larry (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Best way, at least for me, is with a suppressed pistol.... I've never aggro more than I could chew yet... Also, walk crouched to sneak. You can avoid most infected that way. You can get pretty close to them that way if they are not facing you. If they face you though, crouching closer than 10 meters from them will still get you aggro. Good luck! -
It's what saved DayZ for me during a certain period where every server was plagued by hackers. The private server brought legit pvp fights, closed environment events with great interactions, role-play encounters as interesting, refreshing and funny I could ever wish to experience. But that's just my opinion too, based on personal experiences. ;)

"Play for free." Technically, the public hive is "rented" by the company/devs and have certain rules, like the fact that you can't password them or whitelist them, unless there's admin abuse from the individual who rent a public hive server. People have been able to rent public hive servers for a while, but they are open to everyone, as for the private servers are not connected to the public hives, and can be locked/passworded/whitelisted by those who rent the server. A lot of private servers are open so that more players come to the server. Some are whitelisted and have a community that creates certain "play environment" within the server, making it more role-play oriented. There's no server hoppers in private servers. Personally I think there should never have been the option to rent public hive servers. It only caused admin abuse and mischief... The public hive is great for casual players who want pvp action. It lets them find a server with a good population in the area they're in. It's the playground of hackers and abusers, beware. Since the private hives have been enabled, I've stayed clear of the public hive most of the time. It's been either experimental, or private servers, and on a few occasions the public servers.

I really wonder what will happen with mods. Dean was really looking forward to the possibility of modding the Stand Alone, but was also against the idea of having a stamina indicator of any kind. Now that he's gone, there's a high chance of seeing a higher detailed HUD than in the mod, and with a stamina/sprint bar, so who knows if we'll ever be able to mod the game. We'll see how it turns out, but if we ever get a modding tool and the ability to modify the game, it won't happen before beta or even, the "final" version. I still hope we get some, has it would grant us ever more possibilities for replay-ability than with the vanilla stand alone.

Right now no matter how we see things doesn't matter. It WILL change. We're in alpha stage. Nothing's final right now. Yes, you can die even if healthy with one hit, from anything really. Once we hit beta, there will be some polishing and re-balancing. Once the game is finished, then we'll know how DayZ works. Right now, it's just guesses, trial and error, and temporary. P.S.: The WOBO community and Aggathor are doing a great job testing things out so we can learn how to deal with the current version of the game, and at every stage of the game. (almost) Unless the devs says "this" or "that" is official, then everything is purely speculations until confirmed via tests. And is bound to change anyway... -
Instead of searching every building, you'll need to learn which building spawns what. But by then, the loot system will have changed and you'll have to re-learn everything again... :P That's what I do, and love about DayZ in it's current changing state. Best food you can get is rice, powdered milk and canned peaches. I mostly don't even bother with tactical bacon, spaghetti or other canned foods unless I need a drink and I don't have another supply of water. Beans, tuna and sardines are a great source of water, but not much on the caloric value. Good luck on your journeys ahead! There's really not much help you can get other than learning how to play really. The learning curve is in constant evolution right now.

When posting something, you see the blue and green icon called "Special BBcode" next to "Font" selection in the post box? It's the third icon from the left next to the switch and white/pink eraser. Click on it and select "spoilers". Then post your screenshot between the spoiler boxes.

Thanks to everyone who attended! Glad I could provide some kind of entertainment with my guitar, really appreciate the comments. I hope next time Wyyland can stay a bit longer, and Nuggit can make it, so we can do a little jam session, and take more requests, as we'll have various repertoires! Here's some shots I took. After lots of gardening, the strain on raBit's arm became too much and he had to loose it. Successful operation. He recuperated very quickly. Weyland Yutani joined the party and provided some music too. Having a good time around the fire. Now most of the guests had left, and the rest of us decided to have a little flare fireworks festival going on. Thanks to Musty Gaming also for making this possible. Everyone's effort was very appreciated.

Honestly I really think this is going to be possible in the future. Think of the refrigerator "container" that we're supposed to have, that was talked about long ago by Dean. I don't think the idea was scrapped, and it will be part of the persistence mechanic, along with barricades, tents, and fireplaces. We'll see, but this is a fantastic idea I always liked. And even tried on many occasion to "fit" the fireplace kit we have in the ones some houses have. But it never worked.

Yep. I had this happened to me once, had a magnum stored in my jacket and had it in my hands when I entered a firefight, shot 3 rounds, got shot at, hit to the chest, ruined jacket, ruined magnum, click, click, click, trying to fire the 3 rounds left but to no avail... Although, when I read your question, I thought of the second instance of having a weapon in hands. I think, and just because it never happened to me, (so it might but false) that if you have no room on you or you're double carrying, that the weapon in your hands can't get damaged. On a few occasions I somehow survived, or killed players, that everything ended up being ruined except for the item in hands, or the double carried gun. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Any info on the 24 hour cycle bug?

I'm playing on the SepticFalcon private hive and it has an "x" next to the time stamp, and I can confirm that the accelerated time works. Feels like a constant timelapse, which I'm not particularly a fan of. I love "real-time" time passing servers. It's just a matter of opinion really. How come some service provider gives you the ability to select the time of day at which the server gets reset when it restart and other provider don't ? Is it also part of the price tag? -

WIP stands for "work in progress". As for sqf/fsm I have no clue... -
Hmm. I currently have one and had no problem with it. I swapped a couple of pistols in it, took out and put them back in and didn't have any problems. Although I had bugs with the pouches attached to the vest: If i swapped items inside the vest, the item that had to be switched to make place for the one being moved would disappear. Somehow it sounds a bit similar to what you say so it might be the vest, gun holster and pouches that are bugged.

Was the update an hotfix for the heat maps of the loot tables, or a roll back? It seems that the loot spawns are back to what they were. Outhouses and civilian houses don't spawn M65 jackets or vests. Gonna test out tonight to see if anything else changed. Can we still find "military" type gear in civilian places? I wonder. Like I said, I'm glad I enjoyed to weird loot spawns while we had them!!

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

We know that, at least I know it's only placeholder/WIP. but the information gathered from the community, while we are testing the game is precious. We don't really have any official words on various stats and mechanics of the game, so what the scientific community of WOBO is very welcome in my opinion. Might not be final, but is currently real. It really helps to understand how things work, instead of just getting "it's a WIP, deal with it...." <_< Ex: We have access to an early version of the "medical" system. Painkillers don't work. We shared this information, so players having sway with their firearms could fix their problem by using either morphine or splints, and not painkillers as it was in the mod. Without us sharing this, a lot of mistakes could have been made. I understand it if it was false information, but the "bone condition" is currently proven and is in fact "in" the game. When this gets "fixed" the information shared should just be that this was a thing of the past. P.S.: No one said it was final or finished at this phase, only that this was a real thing and people should know about it. Just like not logging back into a server that just restarted to avoid risking loosing our character and spawning as a fresh spawn, or not getting close to a V3S' door when it's getting opened by another player as you will die. -
AK74 were not gone, the AK101 was away from the loot tables. But the 74 and 74u were spawning at police cars (dynamic) and UAZ wrecks. Found many in 0.55.
