    Gonna try it. Edit: Now it asks for adapter... I had the error message before I got the blue screen. Every time I enter the game, the settings returns to "default" (very low settings) and I have to change them back manually. I deleted the config file, but still got the same error. In 1200 hours, never seen or get this...

    Wipe, again? Without a patch? That's pretty weird. (Might have been a problem with the servers...) Didn't download any new version or anything. And now have pretty big problems... When closing DayZ, I get the same memory error as others, but somehow it now gives me a blue screen of death.... (First time in 3 years with this system...) And when I start DayZ, I get this message:
  3. Like Stryker said, the best way is just to cut the tree or bush down. Either with an axe (any axe) for the tree, or any knife for the bush.

    Got the chance to play again just a little while ago. Items are surely spawning again, as I'd found multiple food items. (2 bags of rice, 1 powdered milk, 2 cans of peaches, 3 bacon, 1 baked beans and 1 spaghetti.) In may places that couldn't really be avoided. Or, players are not looking carefully enough, and are passing lots of life saving supplies. While I was eating food that I'd just found, saw a fellow survivor run a bit carelessly on the road. (I never follow roads...) Good thing I wasn't a cannibal or killer. I continued my search for the elusive hunting scope. As I was pretty close, I went ahead and checked the NWAF. Plenty of infected there, so I was feeling safe there wasn't another survivor there. GLad I didn't stumble into any loot explosion, but there was still some items here and there. Got caught off guard by a crawling infected, going 30 kmph, that totally scared the shit outta me!! Left the airfield, going west towards Lopatino, and finally found a hunting scope, but in a feeding shack and not a deer stand! (which I searched about 25-30 of them) This was all on 1PP. Again, I had a good time. Was glad to see the infected are back, but food wasn't as scarce as it was. I didn't have to hunt or harvest anything in this play session. Finished with all this. Gonna switch to the 3PP servers to see if I can get as much, and maybe find another hunting scope to try on the repeater.

    I haven't got an infected walk through a door in a few months honestly. They do make footsteps sounds, and growls when they aggro/attack. I haven't melee something since suppressor, and more aggressive infected were added, so I have no clue.

    I had this happen to me, but only once in 6 camp fires created, and somehow it was still visible for my friend. He interacted with it (added some wood) and then it re-appeared for me... :huh:

    Look at wrecked Humvees and tanks. Found lots of loose 7.62x39 rounds, and mags (akm) there. Good luck!! I'm still looking for a hunting scope on both my characters. Blaze for one, repeater for the other, and found all the other scopes at the deer stands, but have yet to come across a hunting scope...

    Played a bit again yesterday. Surviving of the land from cows, chickens and other wildlife is viable, and somewhat very gratifying. Used the hand drill 5 times, and even though it's supposed to have a 50% chance of success, it always worked for me. Met some friendlies in Elektro. Overall still having a great time on experimental. Bonus pic: Suppressor on the CR75 sits correctly now.
  9. Honestly, Rust, The Forest, 7 Days to Die or other games of the genre are great, but different. I hate to break your bubble, but there will never be "base building" in the Stand Alone, not before we get mods at least. It's been stated before that we'll have the ability to barricade buildings and house, but never straight up base building, like in the Epoch mods. And that's a great thing for me, as there are plenty of games with this kind of "Sim City" building popping out of the ground mechanic to play with. That's the main reason why I stopped playing the mod, apart from the vanilla mod, as it completely broke immersion for me. I don't mind it in other games, but not in DayZ. DayZ is a game that strives to bring an "authentic" feel. (Not "realism", as it's a concept that can't be applied to virtual worlds. It's totally flawed.) As for farming, I never had any problems with it. Don't know why it's not working for you. (Did you have fertilizer? Did you water your crops?) Ashwood sticks don't "spawn" anywhere really, that was way before we could harvest them directly. You can either use an axe to chop down a big, or small ashwood tree, or even a birch tree. Or, you can use any kind of knife to "harvest" one ashwood stick from the two types of ashwood trees. Instead of killing humans and becoming a cannibal, you can kill various wildlife: Cows, deers, goats, pigs, boars, chickens, or even fish salt and fresh water fishes. Lastely, the current experimental 0.56 spawns differs from the stable 0.55, you need to learn and adapt to them. Yesterday on the experimental branch I found plenty of canned food that were passed because players ignored the buildings they were in, as usually they don't spawn much. Streamlining the experience is very down the line, if it ever happens. It,s one of the main appeal for many, that every experimental patch you might need to rethink your survival ways, and adapt to the changes. Things we don't even consider in a lot of survival games out there, finished or in development. To each is own. In the end it all comes down to what kind of entertainment you want, and like, as they are simply videos games. I wouldn't want DayZ to be similar to Rust, or any other game for that matter, not in a million years...

    Gonna try this, right now! Edit: Nope, not working. Sadly, as I did this, I had just found a pristine khaki M65 jacket, but trying to take it made my game crash. Log back in the same server, no M65 jacket anymore. (Everything else was perfect... :lol: )

    Alright, I gave it another try just now, and can say animals are back. I spawned fresh on the coast, in Cherno, and made my way north looting up what I could. Never had any problems finding items. Scavenging, is pretty much top notch as for the survival aspect, if you don't encounter loot explosion. Sadly the snaploader for the double rifle is still filled with 7.62x54r (mosin rounds) so no luck for easy reloads on the Blaze 95. The server I was in just restarted, so I'm gonna try another small run right now.

    I think I know why we don't have infected anymore. It's probably because they wanted to put the "new" infected in and it went wrong. With "new", I mean the infected that have random clothing items on them, making them look different from one another. Possibly with accessible inventory to loot them. This is just speculation though.

    No dynamic events are still pretty much "static" right now, and with persistence not really respawning items correctly, they are most of the time completely empty. (Or have their loot about 30 meters away.)

    Yes. :thumbsup: 100% Trying to learn this medley right now. The first time I played the DayZ mod, and made a camp fire, first thought I had was to grab my guitar and play some. It was one of the features I loved the most in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, and always thought it was missing in other games. It would be brilliant in the stand alone. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually we have access to something like that. Right now on experimental there's this working radio, no real use except for enjoyment and entertainment. Pretty awesome if you ask me. Lastly, not many people played this game, but Two Worlds 2 had a great mechanic with various instruments. It was a minigame to either have fun, or make some money with the NPCs if you were playing any good. Think of "Keyboard Hero" within a fantastic game, similar to TES series. Either a similar mechanic, or just some selectable/or random songs, I'd be happy with.

    :P (That's the thing I can't seem to cope with right now with exp, but I know it won't last another build.) Edit: It's the only thing that really bothers me about the current experimental build, and maybe not the infected, but the animals and possible new ones, like the fox... :lol: Other than that, I'm very grateful we have access to experimental from the beginning. B)

    Sadly yes. At first it might have been by accident, like the duping glitch, but it became apparent some players learned to re-create it and exploit it on various servers. We recently had problems on a private hive I play on with some players creating the loot explosion on various locations. I won't state how it's done, nor on what private server we had this problem as this is a very delicate subject. IMO, every exploit should be bannable. (We already banned players caught duping.)

    The cooking pot disappearing while the tripod and the rest is still there, was already a bug in 0.55 as it happened to me quite a few times.

    That's something I'd like to know too, as the last global wipe was only for the public branch, and the private hives were not affected. So I'm wondering the same thing. Thanks BleedoutBill for the quick response, but could we also have some official word on it?

    Thanks, it clears things up a bit. With the different time zones, it's not easy to know which is which. The news I'd read this morning, stated an update this "evening", thus the confusion. I didn't wait at all and the update was already there while I was reading the post, which had been posted minutes before... Yesterday I had no troubles at all finding infected and animals, but today there's nothing, at all... With tonight's maintenance, the current exp build will be barren for the rest of week I fear. I just came back for exp, and was killed as a fresh spawn by cannibals... Never really did this, but I think I'm gonna take a break until they either update the exp build again, or push it to stable with the complete wipe.

    Is this for this morning's build, or a different one we'll have tonight? I just logged in and was a fresh spawn, so there was a wipe and a different build? What's new? I just came back from it, and in 1PP I can confirm that there's 0 infected and animals. That might be the reason we're gonna have another build tonight? With it another wipe maybe?

    Dayz Tent Hunting - Great Spot near Electro

    Duped gear... I would report it to the server owner, and have it wiped. it doesn't remove the problem, but just levels things for a few hours... Can't wait till the single ID items mechanic finally gets fixed and duping is gone... Fantastic little spot by the way, looks very cozy. B)
