Takes 20 mins top...

The bets were in, it was pretty divided, but in the end I prevailed!

Lag is absolutely horrible. I thought the server had crashed as the infected were all walking in place, then Dean Hall appeared with a paddle and started hitting me. The infected then started to gather in a circle around us, very weird experience...
-
Go back 1 page, already reported. ;)
-
The infected are back! B) Edit: And the "military bathroom" is now enter-able.
-
Yes it is in experimental. Almost every single build has a wipe.
-
They're coming online right now!
-
Yes, sometimes when the stable branch gets updated they don't immediately close the experimental servers so since they share the same version you can access both the stable and experimental servers. It was pretty nice for having multiple characters when the private hive hadn't been opened yet. It's kinda rare nowadays.

It's never something certain. But if you follow Eugene's twitter, last thing he said was maybe this morning. If all goes well, within the next 12 hours, you'll probably see the experimental servers back online with the new bug fixes and small changes. As for the "usual" time it takes for them to become online/updated, it varies greatly. Finally, welcome to the experimental branch! Where the learning curve of the game changes from build to build, and exploration is greatly suggested! It's always a mysterious thing to venture in experimental! B) :beans: Here, have some beans to start the journey without the yellow hungry status popping right away!

Gotcha! Never went back to the prison on experimental, never... Already had a pretty bad personal experience from it on stable, although I like the place.

Definitely a fox. Small, orange and making their distinctive noises and sounds.

I saw a fox for a few seconds near "terminus" south of Vavilovo. He ran to the west, uphill so I wasn't able to get up there fast enough. As I got to the top of the hill, I already had lost sight of it, and never saw it again... :(

There's a stream between Stary Yar and Krasnoe/Kamensk. On the side of the stream you can search for rocks. I tend to look for stones near streams, as you can find them everywhere. At the edge of the water and shore, instead of "drink" you get prompted with "search for stones". It's the easiest way imo.

Yep, always been like that. Waiting for better sharpening tools to get bladed weapons to "worn" status like the weapon cleaning kit or the sewing kits.

The thing I can't wait for the most is a change in the loot tables... We might have new hunting jackets, but that caused the hunting pants (brown, spring, summer, fall and winter) to completely disappear from the loot tables... Same applies to the GORKA uniforms. GORKA pants and jacket are gone from the loot tables too. I was hoping this would be fixed in the 0.57 experimental, as they were already missing in 0.56. Aside from the new school building, and the fixes for the hunting scope, I didn't see anything new at all... And lastly, I can confirm that items don't respawn, at all... Yesterday morning on US East 1PP I left near a feeding shack where I took a soda and a heat pack from it, and more than a day later, nothing respawned at all... If items are respawning, it's still too scarce in my opinion. Food can be found pretty easily, just like weapons and ammo, that's not the issue, but there should be more items spread out over areas instead of loot explosions in certain buildings, and nothing at all in others. I feels like Chernarus was a place full of compulsive hoarders. I know, it's still in development. Just stating my opinion on the current loot tables and persistence. One thing I'm more than happy, is having persistence tested only in experimental, as 0.57 stable will have persistence disabled on all stable branch servers. Might be better too for the dynamic events. We'll have plenty of time and chances to test persistence on experimental anyway. B)

Found an SVD mag at a crash site. Just need an SVD to test out now...

Can't wait for the dynamic events to become, dynamic!

Was able to play for some time this morning before going out for the day. Was surprised to see my character from yesterday still there. Since the servers had trouble connection to the database, I thought maybe we would start fresh again once the connections were properly established, even though it was the same experimental version, but no, I was still there. Having made my way already to the NWAF, I was glad to see 3 crash sites, unlooted. I left most of the items, and only took what I wanted and needed. Glad to see the NATO suppressor back! 1PP character so far: Got to go away for the day, hoping to start a 3PP character tonight with some friends. Maybe go explore the new school and map changes! Edit: The three crash sites, findings and shenanigans...

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
odin_lowe replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
I think so too, but I know some one who wouldn't really be able to make the switch. He can't really play in 1PP, as after a certain period of time he starts having headaches. It's not the first time I hear about something like that. I know of someone that don't like playing FPS type games as it makes him dizzy, although he can watch someone else play... Anyway, they are a minority for sure, but I think there would be similar cases, that would end up quitting playing DayZ for those reasons. -

I would just accept it. We already have access to 1PP, although the population is still mainly on 3PP servers. As much as I love the immersion that 1PP provides, it's not a shared feeling for everyone. For various reasons obviously, but still, to each his own... I like 1PP. I don't like 3PP in a multiplayer game with a certain level of competitiveness between players which allows players to exploits some features to gain certain advantages. We're not talking about a game like GTA 5 for example, that now has 1st person perspective for PC and modern consoles. With it's multiplayer, we can have the same type of interactions where a player in online mode, in 1st person perspective not seeing another player around the corner and getting killed by him. The consequences are very different. Pressing a button to respawn faster, or waiting for a timer to respawn with only the clothes on yourself and a flashlight, on the shoreline. That's the only thing that really bothers me, but we have 1PP servers for that so I'm ok. In the end, I think that even if DayZ would become 3rd person only, I would still continue playing it anyway, as I really enjoy this game. -
I had some fun time too trying to find if the dynamic events were spawning or not. Relied on apples and berries at first, and then found a boar. I chased him for about 600m when it stopped and started going in circles, so I could kill and skin it. Proceeded then by doing a small BBQ.

You have to cut a branch off a tree with any knife. The only one we got now is the improvised knife.

Failed hold ups – Attempting to capture 3 armed players near Zelenogorsk [11:18]

 Narcissism at it's best... Press tab and voilà, you can see your character... Cheat and exploit all day if you want, or look at your character for 5 hours straight, I don't care, just don't come here complaining about how the game will be without it's 3rd person camera exploits... Too easy to get involved in pointless debates, to each his own. <_< It's so funny how people defend this flawed feature for a multiplayer game. No one came here complaining about being killed in 3rd person. Back on topic, Sobieski provides some of the best videos of players hold-ups and encounters out there and I respect that. The first comment not being about his video and only being a complain about the changes to the cameras to try and remove it's exploit-ability was pretty much like putting gas on an already lit fire. -

Which is why I play 1PP 99% of the time... But that being said, multiplayer games like DayZ shouldn't have 3PP to begin with. I play this game for the survival aspects of the game, but again, at least 70% of the players are in for the "pvp". Just check out YouTube or Twitch to see how the majority of either players, or those who follows the YouTubers/Streamers, enjoy the game to see it's mostly for the "pvp". Heck, most of those players get pretty competitive too. You don't see competitive games like BF4 or CS:GO have 3PP so players can exploit that, as there's already to many cheaters and exploiters as is... Thus the reason to change the 3rd person camera, to level the field and make 3PP more enjoyable, and less cheat like. Most of Sobieski's videos are on 1PP servers, or at least he plays in 1PP most of the time. -
