You can't whitelist a public hive server. It's almost the same exact thing as a passworded server, without the hassle of typing a password to get into said server.
-
It's not just a few, just yesterday, I counted 18 passworded public servers, and 11 whitelisted public servers. Just the ones I found. It's a plague, and I'm not paid to be the server policy police... <_<
-
Played on a private hive I usually play on, and Barnabus was there too. I have heard rumors about it, but it never happened to me until today.
-
Not sure if this will eventually be addressed, but it's worst than ever : whitelisted and passworded "public" servers. Unless that changed, it wasn't "legal" to do so with public servers. There's quite a lot right now... (Between 40 and 50 public servers are either locked, or whitelisted.)

Great patch so far, but same bug as experimental with memory leaks every time you exit the game... (Which is a pain...)

That's Sobieski... edit: (Takes the game a bit too seriously in my opinion... He's pretty harsh with his "team mates" too... :( Still, he makes good videos. ) -
The Psychology of Understanding Alpha
odin_lowe replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yep. About 3 weeks ago Stranded Deep went from unity 4 to unity 5. Same with Survive the Nights. The build that was shown for the kickstarter was completely scrapped, and they're redoing everything. I participated in the first and second stress tests that just happened a week ago, and almost everything you saw in the videos was absent in the stress test builds. There's currently no vehicles, no zombies, almost no items, no crafting, no animals. It's only to test online features and gradually redo all of the game. Quick google search on both subjects will give you the exact dates, reasons and details on both game's engine switch. Edit: -

The Colony is probably the best DayZ community apart from the Experimental branch community we built throughout the various builds. Long live the Colony! -
The Psychology of Understanding Alpha

Somehow this is only partially true. Unlike OP, I've tested and participated in dozens of alphas, betas and early access games (when they were not called "early access") and currently, a big change in engine and tech seem to be the norm. Games like The Dead Linger, Stranded Deep, Survive the Nights, Dangerous Rays and a few others have completely dropped the engine they first created their games on, and moved to other engines transferring and re-creating everything they had already done to their new engine. That being said, most if not all of those titles uses engines already existing like Unity 5, or Unreal engine. While DayZ is creating the engine as the development progress. I'm glad to be part of the process and going on the journey with you guys. B) P.S.: I think the first Alpha(s) I tested was a closed access to Söldner (In Feb 2004) and Heroes of might and magic 5 (In Sept 2005). Although those titles are very different than those of today, it started a passion in alphas, betas and all things related to games being developed. -

I like the second option more. Very interested to see what they'll end up doing with that. -
I've had many instances of teaming up with random players, mostly on experimental, and more often than not, they all ended in good terms without having anyone die. But that said, there always the other side of the medal, and I've been betrayed quite a few times, mostly on stable branch. Go figure. It's all part of DayZ, but that won't change the way I play for one bit. Like Gannon stated, right now there's not much to do, so if you're not into intense PVP, these interactions are bound to happen, with players trying different things. Don't take one encounter as the standard though. Safe travels. Edit: Typo

Yep, still in, but a bit rare. My favorite is the beige baseball cap, and sometimes it takes a while to find it in either the current 0.57, or 0.58 experimental.

Base Building vs Advanced Barricading
odin_lowe replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
In all honesty, I'm really hoping we never get huge base building. I hate that with a passion, and think it's silly. Fingers crossed some servers will stay "vanilla", or we get access to a single player version before that.... :( -
Base Building vs Advanced Barricading

Just like the mod, or other similar games, the base will stay on the server you created it on. Edit: Typo -
Hmm. It's not supposed to happen, since we had global wipes to prevent old files from getting corrupted that way. I'd suggest checking your files integrity on steam.

The thing I want the most fixed before hitting stable, is the memory leak when closing the game. It can stress the ram pretty hard really. Very annoying. (If you have other softwares running in the background, like music players and what not, it can cause serious crashes...) I'm really glad the ghost sounds are gone though!! Playing on high pop servers was a no no with all those annoying sounds, at least for me.
-
Yep, I'm sure of it. (Unless a player intentionally left it there, along with many other valuable items. The doors were closed too.) It is possible too, that it was left there by another player.
-
That's what I think too. Still, was just glad to see it's back finally! ;) Edit: Watching Toperec's stream, he found one in the newly opened barracks. It didn't seem like it was dropped by another player this time.

I tried looking around the previous posts on this thread to see if anyone reported it, and did use the search engine too, but didn't find anything on the subject. I am happy to say that the AK101 is back. (I hadn't seen, or heard one in months...) Weird thing is that I found it in a deer stand.

I would love to disable the hotbar completely. It's always the first thing I do when exiting the inventory. (Hitting the "~" key to make it go away.) No hud is the best hud for me. ;)

It's a radio tower that is not marked on izurvive and it clearly has at least the possibility of spawning military loot. Yep! There's one in a summer camp too, near the wooden log pub where there's always a tortilla backpack spawning with a few pairs of boots. These are nice little loot spots that are often missed. Love your gear btw, reminds me of my last character on experimental. B) (Which I posted in post your gear so far.)
-
Don't forget to try to use the torches too. (Not the UK way of saying "flashlight", but the craft-able torches made of wood and rags.)
-
 All of the items spawn, but are super rare, or they're not completed yet?? Said items are both the VSS and Red9, judging from the list Etherimp had shared in his post.
-
The thing is, loot tables are really screwed right now, as they are a work in progress. This is fairly easy to understand. Like the camo/prison building: Right now it doesn't spawn anything, so that the problem with glitchers can be avoided, temporarily. But many other buildings don't have anything assigned in terms of loot that can spawn in them. Some of them intentional (like the vehicles : UAZ, Ural, tanks, etc.) but others just seem to have been forgotten. I remember hearing Hicks talking to René (Toverlag/Barely Infected), TheRunningManZ, SuperFTlol and a few others about the M4 specifically. Of course he wanted rare items to be rare, but eventually he don't want them bound to a specific building. Quoting: "Who knows, eventually you could find that elusive M4 in a barn." That being said, when you play with a small community of scientists trying to figure how the game works, it's really hard to pass by some things. I can confirm that the plastic compass doesn't share the old compass spawn points. I'm with you on that, taking the devs words on those matter, but they don't give us info on that matter. (Usually they only say we're "wrong" and we should stop spreading false info, instead of giving the right info, which can be frustrating at times.) <_<

I found quite a lot of these recently. But I don't use it. (Unless I talk over VOIP, my character doesn't open his mouth, so I don't want to use the other hole to check my temp... ;) )
