You need a barrel, nails and the leather sack to change it's color to "black". (It's more brown than black really...) Put the sack and nails in the barrel, close it and dye it. Voilà.

We couldn't prepare them either in 0.58, when we tried on debug island. Only the mackerel was prepared and cook. We could not cool the sardines either... I found multiple fishing hooks, killed 2 boars, but alas never tried to cook anything at all yet. No fishing or cooking. Been avoiding making too much noise or light since most of the time I played, the servers were almost full. Hoping to catch some evening gaming time and test out some of the questions that been circulating.

Every weapon that has either snap loaders or clips (mosin, blaze, magnum, sks) can be reloaded by pressing "r" when the said clips or loaders are in your inventory. Worked 100% of the time for me. Hundreds of reloads using this way. In the current stable 0.58, and for the past months/years, we've been able to load eg: An SKS with loose rounds, and then drag those rounds back to the inventory to create an "artificial" clip. The stack of ammo had no ammo count, and you could "eject" the ammo to bring it back to it's loose state. Also, pressing "r" when out of ammo let you automatically reload the weapon without having to go in the inventory and manipulating items. This was also possible with weapons that didn't use snap loaders or clips. eg: You could load a Repeater with loose .357 rounds, then drag the ammo out of the weapon and create a stack, without ammo count, that could be used by pressing "r" when the weapon was empty. I'm glad that's all a thing of the past!! Currently with 0.59 experimental you can't remove bullets you put in a weapon without ejecting them, making this impossible to create "artificial" snap loaders and clips. The way they are used know is correct. When you use a snap loader or clip, the piece of metal or plastic holding the bullets shouldn't be inside the weapon. It's only used to speed up the process of putting ammo in the weapon.

"Warning" Exp 0.59 Broken / Jamming AK's - SKS work around

Very interesting stuff there! Been testing out the new 0.59 experimental since it came out, but didn't get any problems with any weapon used, but didn't get around to find a mag for the AKs I found. I used chambered 1911, FNX, Sporter (didn't have any mags for those at first) and loaded Repeater, Magnum and Trumpet. Found a mag for the 1911 a little bit later, and both the 10rnd and 30rnd sporter mags, and tested both with any problems. But, that being said, the method to correctly load weapons that don't have mags, and can use clips, is by putting the ammo in the action bar, and while holding the weapon in your hands, pressing the assigned number for the ammo in the action bar. You'll get the loading animation and the white message top right corner of the screen confirming it's loaded. (info is red when the weapon's not loaded) You still don't see the ammo in the weapon, but it's loaded anyway. Lastly, there's some glitches with the new loading system as it's not finished and not polished, but in any case it's better to chamber weapons that need mags first now, as it seem to help out with the jamming. You'll notice that every time you put a mag in any gun, one round get's chambered automatically and is removed from the mag. Although the mag you found said it was pristine, since you found it on a dead player it might not have registered the damage. It's experimental after all, and I seen all kinds of wacky and weird stuff these past 3 days. Thanks for sharing!! :thumbsup: -

I'm very happy with the return of animals. Saw a boar right after exiting Cherno, but didn't approach since I didn't have anything to kill it, but after I hit the next town, I found astack of .357, and had a repeater. So I returned to the boar and got myself a nice backpack. I left the meat in the field since I couldn't craft the backpack right away and needed to carry the pelt in my hands. Finally had to stopped a few hours ago as I had other things to do, but just before logging out, found a nice UH-1Y crash site. Anyone noticed all the ammo found out of boxes are in full stacks? And the action bar only has 4 slots available at start, and when you put items in the first 4 slots, slots 5, 6, and 7 unlock. When you put items in those, the last available action bar spaces unlock. Some shots I took earlier on.

They seem to be concentrated in Cherno, seen between 30-40 of them... All old models, sounds, etc.

It seems you need to put the ammo in your action bar and use the ammo while you're holding the gun to trigger the animation. Although ammo still doesn't show up in the weapon.

All infected seem to be in big cities, at least Cherno. I saw about 30-40 of them... :huh: A few bodies here and there from being swarmed I guess. I sneaked around and made my way out of town, with a few goodies. I'm glad there's a few 1PP servers, but I wonder if they'll all crash sooner or later. Haven't got much lag on the 75 players 3PP servers. Only encountered another fresh spawn, and a PM Rak KoS in Svetlojarsk. Made it out alive. I like the new container "water proof" bag and the fact that burlap sacs only take 1 space now. Will have to join again later tonight, and see how it goes then.

Your Character was unable to load and has been reset...

It means that the server had difficulties connecting to the central hive, and could not retrieve your character. You can quickly exit the server you're in, go back to the main menu, select a different server.(Make sure it's connected to the same hive public 1PP or 3PP, or private servers, although it rarely happens on private servers.) You'll get your character back. Happened to me at least 50 times since this exists, but not recently. Been about 5 or 6 months since I last experienced this. P.S.: No need to alt-f4 really. -

Nope. It's fixed. It was an electrical problem. Like I said in my post, it's very old where I live, and the electrical system isn't up-to-date. The landlord came, and the fuse was changed, again, (happens between 5 and 10 times a year...) and all is back to normal. It wasn't just DayZ, but anything that needed more power from the video card. Every game I started switched the system off, and the stove was signaling the loss of tension. (a warning system in case of a short circuit) It's very annoying, but since I'm only renting, we have to get the landlord to upgrade the electrical system, which is easier said than done. In any case, I'm glad that it's fixed, for now. As it's not a question of "if" it breaks again (the fuse) but "when".

I did it, nothing's wrond with system files, memory or hardware. I've done some more tests, and tried other games. Low consumption games like Daggerfall, Fallout 2 or Morrowind works fine, but anything that requires more power seem to make the system either restart, or get in a "loop" of graphics reset as the graphic card tried to get more power, but can't It's an electrical problem. I live in an old house, 1953 built, and not "restored" or updated to today's standards in terms of electrical, plumbing or insulation. Other electrical furniture don't work, (stove, electrical heaters, hot water tank, etc.) and it's caused by the 220 volt fuse that snapped. It happens about 5-6 times a year and is very annoying, as wee need to access the basement, which is only accessible via the neighbors apartment. At least, I'm glad I know what the problem is, and I know it can be fixed. Just need to wait for the landlord to get here, go to the neighbors from under and change the fuse in the basement... Sorry for the off-topic and bothersome post. On-topic, I really hope we get 0.59 experimental next week at least. Keep up the good work devs!! Looking forward to the new features and additions!! :thumbsup:

Damn, I just had a power outage in my area, for half an hour, while I was playing DayZ, and now I can't start the game without having my whole system shut down every time I get to the menu. Checked the cache, tried the -newui, did a system check, driver check and memory check, all clear... DayZ is dead on my system... :( It's a sad day for me today. I had just hit the 1560 hrs mark, and hadn't crashed for at least 500hrs of gameplay. No freeze, hard system lock or even a simple crash to desktop...

Press vests? Civilian houses. I come across 5-10 of them each play session... I like the dark blue one, but they stand out too much, and are much associated to fast-geared pvp fellows, thus, I avoid them and use the gun holster until I find a crash site and upgrade to a plate carrier or other vests. I miss the UK assault vests being more available, and not "farmed/loot cycled" at the Officer's tents... <_<

I can't wait to have the character screen "fixed". I really liked when they added the animations for pistol holding. But, since it's mostly working ok with the new ui, the old one will never gets "fixed". And I really don't like the new ui, either in-game or in the menu. It's still a work in progress of course, but the in-game ui looks like a terrible downgrade. It simply looks awful... And the menu logo is too big imo. But that,s just me...

The DayZ Colony US-1, WOBO EU community server,The Gents of Novo (either the USA or UK server) and if you like 1PP, the -UN- Clan server. All of these are private, open servers. Based on personal experience, all of these have good population, great admins without abusive behavior, and good player interactions, no matter what you're looking for.

Well, that's simply a personal opinion there. Right now the CLE isn't properly working, so as the loot distribution and the current despawn/respawn mechanic. It's all a work in progress. That being said, I personally love crash site hunting, and found more than 200 crash sites since they've been added in 0.45, when the model itself for smoking crash site wasn't the UH-1Y, but the Blackhawk helicopter. It's also less risky than the airfield for those lone wolves, more "hermit" play style players since the loot farming, and server hopping issues on public hive servers. Powerful military grade weapons should be rare, and crash sites spawns should remain restricted to them. It's part of DayZ, and makes the whole experience a lot better and more balanced than abusing the current item spawn system. Like I said, enjoy it while you can, as it will come back to normal in 0.59. As in fact, it's more of a bug/exploit than a proper working mechanic.
