today i went from balota over cherno to elektro.. i came from the north to elektro and heard A LOT of shots - SKS, mosin and M4, everything... it didnt stop, all the time shots and firefights.. i thought: YOLO, i'll go inside and check out ;) totally insane idea, i knew i would most likely die. i'm a dayz veteran so i was aware that i wont leave alive, but it's for fun ;)
inside elektro a guy with a SKS tried to kill but missed me. i flanked him luckyly and was able to shoot him while he climbed up a ladder. during all this time (about 10 minutes) there were more firefights at elektro. i noticed some guys shooting at the common sniper-position outside elektro and another couple of guys shooting more to the west of my position. it was horrifying, i guess it had been around 2-3 firefights not counting mine all the time, not stopping..
while very very carefully walkign inside elektro (i really checked EVERYTHIGN before doing 1 step - horizon, roofs, windows, bushes, everything) i noticed 2 guys behind a fence. i got close and started talking to them via ingame voice.
"yo guys, sup, friendly?"
"hey hey yeah dude friendly, you too?"
"yea of course, wouldnt have started to talk to you if not, hue"
"hah, yep, you wanna join us?"
"yeah i do why not"
while that they spotted me via 3rd person view and a zombie approached.. you all gonna know what happened next ;) i took out my firefighter axe to defend myself against the zombie (still m4 shots in the background, holy shit this was like war). then one of those 2 guys - yep i knew this would most likely happen, dont worry i'm not stupid - came around the fence and started to shoot me with his m4 - i was able to put some shots with my SKS on him - not sure if i hit him though, i guess he wouldve been dead if i hit 1 shot? not sure.. whatever, the other guy tried to stop him "dont shoot dont shoot" but it was too late, just in that moment he killed me :O
long story, obvious ending and my conclusion after surviviing like 20h with this character and a lot firefights: this was definately the last time i ever trusted some dayz guys, in future there will be no mercy ;) i tried to be friendly but yeah ;)
whatever, i knew i would not walk out elektro alive :D but still a very intense and exciting fight/moment

Same here. Experienced severe a severe FPS drop on an airfield. I was on a school building and the frame rate was unbearable.
its not only on airfield.i checked it with running just through forests - same issue here after some couple of minutes.

i can observe the following: i start dayz, join a server - perfect fps, everything's just fine. i keep looking at my task-manager and i see: dayz memory-usage is increasing without stopping.. when it reaches like 1GB memory usage, the fps-drop is "feelable"... when i reach 1,5 GB memory usage the game is almost unplayable.. like 10-15 fps. but the memory usage keeps increasing until the game crashes. I've never had problems like this before with dayz. gotta be a problem with the new patch :(
i hope there's a fix out there soon, but i guess i wont be able to play dayz this weekend, sadly :( yep i know, its an alpha, im fine ;)

nice story. but:
Before I could access their gear, their bodies vanished (logging out) as they had just been taken out by a man with a fire ax. (oooh they must have been pissed!).
lies. bodies dont disappear anymore after they logout. they stay for ~10min.

Just logged into a server with a 0 player count. Stood there trying to fill my canteen from a well, it would not fill. The only option was to drink water.
Within 30 seconds 3 guys came running around the corner and shot me dead. WTF.
that happens when you join a server which has just been restarted. maybe it had 0 players, but i guess the ping was pretty low (< 60~) and most likeley even daytime (server-time between 9-18)
restarted servers with low ping and daytime fill VERY fast.. always check player-count after joining such servers (press p) and watch out

fire axes can be found pretty often at military bases (check the barack which has a 2nd floor, go upstars and behind the stairs there are always meele weapons, with a bit of luck a fireaxe ;) )

one more thing: if you have nothing to lose (no loot, fresh spawn) and you are near the coast: head to cherno. start looting there, you can find IMMENSE amounts of food+drinks there. nobody needs to starve in dayz at the moment ;) just loot there. but be aware: very dangerous there. more zombies + a lot players also looting / camping / KoS there. but still the best place to gear up the most important things at the beginning, after that head to military bases ;)

1. not 100% sure but i think it does NOT drain more energy. maybe that's a feature being implemented in the future, but at the moment it feels like it does not make any difference
2. entry houses/buildings does not tell anything. a lot people close them after entering / leaving to pretend that there has nobody been. if there have been a lot of zeds that would mean that nobody else has been there or at least he/they did not kill the zeds (maybe run just like you did). not in every building is loot.. there is a drop-chance and entering houses etc. does not give you guaranteed loot. small/medium/big loot locations mean the likelyhood of spawning as far as i know. just keep on searching, experience will come with the time. try heading to a military base but be VERY (!!!) careful. a lot players/campers are around there and they shoot you without asking. check how much players are on the server by pressing "p".
3. yes. that sucks. but: try using a knife, screwdriver etc.. that works. even axes work. if not: drink soda, they also replenish energy (food)
further information here (i highly recommend you to watch the full video, it is VERY VERY helpful. take the 24 minutes time and watch it !!!!):
4. if you disconnect (or get disconnected because of server restart) then there's no need in going onto the same server again. your character will be saved and you can play on every other server with the exactly same character. if it bugs (other loot, new spawn, ...) while going onto a server then just disconnect, wait 5 minutes (go toilet, have some porn, smoke a cig) and join again. there are no different hives. hardcore/regular just means whether you can use 3rd person view or not at the moment. you can play with the same character on both kind of servers imo
5. yes it is safe to meele them. but: only with axe (black one is the weaker: 1-2 hits for a zombie, or fireworker-axe (red one): 1 hit zombie). dont use other meele weapons than axes, thats pointless and you will get hit too often. if you are bleeding and you dont have any rags, then undress your t-shirt, rightlick it in inventory and "tear to rags".
6. dont eeat rotten fruit even if near to starving. it makes you sick and only gives a very very small amount of energy/water. dotn pick them up, its just wasting time and inventory-space

1. no thats not possible. you can only get information by the messages in the below left corner and when pressing tab (color yellow, orange, red).

2. then you are doing sth wrong. check control assignments under "view" the first entry. by default it's set to "enter". joing a regular server and try again.

I just killed 5 guys (1v5) at balota (holy shit im still shaking) and looted a Mosin 9130. I've had severals before but they were "brown" and this one is kinda "green". I noticed i can only put 1 bullet inside the weapon - means after each shot i have to manually reload (pressing tab etc...).
Did that change with the new version? Because i couldn't find anything about it in the changelog + board. Or am i just totally retarded? :)
A pity i didnt record that awesome fight :(

hi guys,
today i camped like a little b*tch at cherno. i saw a guy right next to me on the next building, he shot zombies with m4 from above (not the very best idea). well, i watched him, turned on stream to capture and OMG i missed my 1st and 2nd shot like a kid... i was like "WTF?!" - usually that never happens to me (tho i have a badly damaged scope). whatever shit happens and so i kept watching that building until i saw him crawling there...
at the very end you can notice some pixel of his helmet, i knew he was lying there and i thought he could never hit me in that ankle. if he would just stand up, i could easily headshot him.. well, i was fucking wrong. obviously he could 1st snipe way too far down (try sniping down when you are lying) and 2nd hit me in an impossible ankle. in my point of view it looked like he shot throught the building and hit me
shit happens, im not mad, i'm fine with that :) just a little bit sad about my 1st and 2nd shot which i missed so unlucky

edit: flame me for sniping cherno (tho i only shot geared up guys with weapons. havn't shot even 1 unequipped guy, i even defended 2 by killing another m4-guy who was shooting at them - IM A GOOD GUY HONOR ME)

Hi guys,
im pretty new and not that experienced as most of you. I've been wounded by zombies and a player. I lost blood and bandaged myself, but my view was kinda.. "grey" or whatever. It seemed like i lost a lot blood and i heard that i need to "regenerate" my blood.
1. Therefor i need to be full with water + food, is that right?
2. Water: i drank like 50 times at a lake/river until "My stomach feels full" showed up. That should be fine :)
3. Food: i ate about 7 cans of food (spaghetti, tuna, sardines, ...) but: what messages show that i'm full (concerning food-energy) ? How do i know i ate enough so i regenerate blood? "My stomach feels full" still showed up but taht might be because i drank so much... I kept playing for another 3-4 hours (eating+drinking from time to time) but my view kept being grey... :(
Do i just need to eat A LOT more?!
4. another topic-unrelated question: how long does dead player-corpses stay / how long are they lootable (even if they disconnect) ? I read that they fixed that, but i wonder for how long they stay now.

one more question: is it best to RUN (2x w) all the time or just the usual walking?
not sure if i should 2x w (run fast) or if its bad because i would lose a lot faster energy/dehydrate

imagine ONLY playing at night. wouldnt u get sick of it someday? its grey, its dark, you cant enjoy the landscape etc... of course night is good too, it looks nice of course, but ONLY at night? sorry but no.. i wanna play at day too and imo 4-6h night + 4-6h day would be ok. 12h meeeh :(
