  1. Thanks, I took a look at you link then used my resource manager. I do have half my cores parked, but when I get in DayZ and start running around they start getting used though remain parked by name. Does that mean they are being used as they should be, in that when the other CPUs get a heavy work load the parked ones jump in and start computing, only to shut off once the work load dies down. Does that also mean there is no need to unpark them? I'm asking because I would rather not download a third party program if I don't need to, but if it will help I will. Thanks

You have been spotted, you cannot log out

Though I think there are some inherent flaws in this and some of the arguments against it aren't valid too. Spotting someone has to be an action, like in BF. You see someone, spot them my using an action key, and it is called over the radio to other soldiers. So for DayZ you just get someone with in the center of your screen hit said button and they are spotted. Friends would not spot each other. For the 15 min thing I think is too long, but you can log out and go about your business. It's just your character will stay. I think maybe a 2-3 min wait would be acceptable, even more maybe. 15 min a complete stranger could happen upon you even in the woods, which is where everyone should log out anyways for safety.

    Gunfire spawns zombies

No. Just wait until they get the game optimized and they have zombies roaming the country side on their own. If they can't get it optimized then your idea would be a last resort.
  4. I just found out about hyperthreading and wondering the same thing. I fairly ignorant when it comes to computers so hopefully someone else will chime in. I was thinking about posting this same question, but saw you already have....maybe my post will bring it back up and someone else will chime in. Also never heard of core parking before
  5. I understand your sentiment. I'm a first person player all the way and play with plenty of people who are first only as well. With that said I'll play 3rd person with a few of my recent friends I have made the first week of SA when 3rd was the only option. I do understand some people's complaint about 1st person making them sick, but I'm guessing this is en extremely low percentage of players. I'm not sure if anybody else notices this, but you get a far higher percentage of more mature/intelligent players on 1st person only. I think it might stem from the fact that it is harder and there is more immersion, which attracts those types of people. Just an off the cuff observation though.

Question about FPS and Performance? Sorry =(

I have an i7 in my laptop I'm playing on. What does disabling the HT really do? I'm computer ignorant but HT sounds like it is suppose to make things go faster. Is it just because SA isn't optimized so it isn't utilizing this properly, but once it is optimized HT should be used? Thanks

Question about FPS and Performance? Sorry =(

I had compatibility mode selected and on Vista. Should I deselect it entirely or run it with Windows 7 selected since that is my OS. Also there are plenty of other things to play around in there but I'm fairly computer ignorant. Is there anything else that can be done to tweak settings? Thanks
  8. That's the point according to Rocket, once they are there speed and duration will be limited

    Medical System poll

I'm not in the medical field, but shouldn't saline only give you hydration? Saline isn't blood, therefore it can't give you blood. It can make you completely hydrated so you can heal on your own...therefore saline shouldn't give you any blood. The only thing that can give you blood is....wait for it....blood. Novel concept, huh. I'm tired and going to sleep, I'm a little cranky.
  10. I've seen people get one shot with a mosin all the time, whether they are completely dead or just knocked unconscious until they bleed out or another roung goes in them they are pretty much done. Also 5.56 has killed people I think with two rounds center mass. Guns are scary, period. My Idea: Instead of unrealistic damage, how about more realistic medical treatment. If you get shot with a bullet you should need more than just one bandage to stop the bleeding, or need to apply bandages several times over a course of 10-20 minutes (not too realistic now it is a game) because you'll bleed through those bandages. Additionally morphine or some other drug to reduce blood pressure would greatly help reduce your blood loss and stop your bleeding sooner. After all of that you'd need antibiotics for sometime to prevent infection...maybe 3 treatments, once ever hour (again it is a game). Once you've finished your antibiotic treatment, or maybe halfway through it you start to regenerate health, of course transfusions can be done at any time. Additionally doing it yourself would be a complete mess and you have a high percentage chance of dropping the bandage and ruining it, so you would need someone else to help you. All of this would be on a sliding scale based on the type of round, distance, and body armor. Zombie wounds would be much less, and most of them could be handled by yourself. Another idea: The concept of having your character specialize in a type of skill (This has been a topic of many posts) would play into this well. A better medic would be able to stop the bleeding sooner, use less bandages, and treat the infection better.
  11. I know why you hate those masks and why you aren't inclined to be friendly. 1. Those masks are from another game, place, and essentially conceptual universe. It breaks immersion, that's why you hate them as do I. Now if there were a rare beat up hockey mask that would make sense...just saying *cough, cough , hint, hint* 2. Those masks are from characters who are bandits themselves, therefore people who desire to mimic their attire most probably mimic their actions. Therefore it is pretty safe to say you can't trust them. With that said I have met some people who are decent and wear those mask just because they think it's cool and they like the game PayDay. So there you go, I hope you read this so you know why you think a certain way :) lol
  12. My god I wish you had a video of this
  13. Hello, So I just noticed in the change log that dead body cleanup is time based, but it doesn't say for how long. Does anybody know the time needed to elapse before a body is deleted? I noticed this change log on the Steam page for DayZ and not in the normal change log section of the forum, so you'll won't find it there. It came out Jan-5 Thanks.

How long do bodies stay now?

Thanks, do you know whether it will be something admins will be able to tweak?

    Idea for zombies

Do you realize that English is not the first language of some people...in fact most people.

    Idea for zombies

    1. No to "special zombies" 2. Yes to different size zombies (affects melee damage, and resistance to physical damage) 3. Yes to more zombies (once optimization allows for it) 4. Increased damage and more importantly infection from zombies 5. Yes, I also believe I remember Rocket saying there will be armored zombies due to soldiers, police, etc. turning. 6. I also remember Rocket discussing zombie life cycle, but what that entails I forget.

    Stars

um, no because stars get bigger when you magnify them. Simple as that. Edit: Was this a troll post and did I just fall for it?

    backpackception

I read somewhere that bag pack nesting can create lag in the server, has anyone else heard of this?

    My FNX45 does not work...

What he said. You are putting the clip into the gun right? It's not like the mod when all you need is the clip in your inventory, you actually need to attach it to the gun itself.

    Development is too slow

That is the exact mentality that ruins so many projects from games to government, to business, to everything. Throw money at it (hire new people who need to be caught up on what's going on, or don't have the same vision, etc.) ruins everything. Time and patience makes a project work due to the attention to detail. Think about how much Bohemia has invested in this already for the past year or so, they first need to get that capital back from the original investment. I know they are happy and actually surprised with the sales they made on it. They weren't expecting this kind of turn out, but now that they know what they really have they are investing more into it. They have hired an independent team to do audio to speed it up, and I'm sure doing much more than I care to read up on. It takes time to hire the right people, usually at least a month for a decent interview process to be completed. They aren't going to hire the first person they find (ie, throw money at it).
  22. I'm glad they got what was coming to them. You gave them so many chances, never underestimate the most powerful force in the universe...Stupidity.

    A few things regarding ammo

I confirm glitch #2 as well
  24. how did you figure out who the logger was, just by looking at the profile list and noticing the same person going in and out? BTW good job. And to the other guys who think he may have been bambi killing I'm guessing he was picking his friend up, and there are people who still play as heroes helping the less fortunate on the coast.
  25. That does make sense. Even killing in self defense will create stress, so ya you'd be penalized. The only thing I don't like about the KOS fad is it creates a one dimensional game. Don't get me wrong I would hate it if KOS was completely removed, or even drastically reduced, but he idea or something like it would at least calm it down so it is less predictable. I think all of this should be kept on the back burner and wait and see how game play changes once more zombies are implemented, as well as more realistic audible ranges (for both players and zombies) of guns. Also once they reduce the nerfing of loot spawning that should also change game play. When ammo and guns are harder to find, and there are more zombies, and they zombies will be attracted from gunshots from greater distances and players can hear shot well over a km then people will think twice about pulling the trigger...I think. Also need to make the zombies hit harder and infect more.
