Please don't put defecating in the standalone
Max Planck replied to Grumpy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is how much I think anybody outside the gaming community will care about defecation being in DayZ: . -
Please don't put defecating in the standalone
Max Planck replied to Grumpy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't see why this is a problem. Internet pixel poop does not transfer to real life, there will be no need to wash your hands. Why would filling someone's tent with shit be worse than, you know, shooting them? -
It's six vegetables Pokey, six! For shame, Pokey. EDIT: Oh, topic: Considering how often you have to eat ingame, you might say we should eat less at a sitting.

Please don't put defecating in the standalone
Max Planck replied to Grumpy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It's a mechanic for spreading disease. It will influence people who form groups, as they will have to come up with a system for keeping infection out of their camp. It can also be used as a sort of weapon by contaminating resources to deny others their use. If you can get over the fact that it involves your bottom (*giggle*) it's actually not that 'retarded'. I like it. -

While I'm not an expert, I'd imagine that having to track thousands of squirrels, birds, hoverflies, dropbears and other branchmonsters would put a tremendous load on the server. That's why I suggest keeping some of the ambient noises, along with the player triggered ones. Makes sense. But what if it has to do the check, say, every 5 seconds? With 150 players on a server, that would be... a whole bunch of extra checks.

Yeah, that would work great in combination with the sounds. More, and more diverse, wildlife would be nice too.

Combat Timer in 1.7.5, Worse now than ever before.
Max Planck replied to -Guardian-'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good idea, it would be kind of like it is in Eve. This would make perfect sense. -
It takes some looking to find one that you like, but when you do you'll be set. Here's a leg up: http://bmrf.me/?page_id=31 #2 is great. Good admins, no added crazy stuff. Have fun.

1st/3rd Person Perspective, Immersion and Awareness.
Max Planck replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It does not deal with the issue, it will just annoy those who like 3rd person without dealing with the 'invisible-camper' problem. -
It's going great, Moss. Drinks at your right, the loo is out the back. Welcome.

Rpatto, I don't understand what you are trying to achieve here. With your changes the status, as far as I see it, will be this: 3rd person players *Have to hold ALT down all the time to play the way they like *When spotting someone from their rooftop hidey-hole, they only have to let go of ALT to shoot them 1st person players *No changes, will still get spotted and shot by magical invisible super people who wants to 'pump their stats' If you want to create a mechanism that will allow 1st and 3rd person players to coexist on the same servers, you need to deal with the most important issue: 3rd person players have a tactical advantage, and their eyes-in-the-back-of-the-head-wizard-shit ruins the immersion for 1st person players. I too would like to see a 'single server configuration' solution, but not under those conditions. -
Hello there! Welcome to the forums. Everyone here is excellent, and so are you. Welcome.

I do this for so many games... Crafting recipies, little maps, notes. My desk looks like a nerd exploded on it. Having maps we could draw on and an ingame notebook (all of which could be looted upon our death) might do away with this clutter, and help with our internal storytelling.

Making a joke is trolling now? I've been gone for too long.

Key Stolen-Got It back via Youtube [No Keygen]- Played Next Day banned?

Pretty lousy friend. Try contacting BattlEye, they deal with bans. -
1st/3rd Person Perspective, Immersion and Awareness.
Max Planck replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I play quite happily on a (often full) 1st person only server. The problem is the standalone, and I believe that is what we are discussing here. It seems Rocket is going to make it harder to change between 3rd and 1st, which leads me to believe he is trying to come up with a sort of 'unified solution'. A one-and-only server setting. This could mean we will lose the '1stP' only servers. Why would he change the 3rd person mechanics so radically if we can still change the server settings to avoid it? I'm afraid we will get the worst of both worlds, with no choice. That's my problem. -
I agree there should be maps of different types and qualities. They could range from a tourist postcard with a picture of Chernarus on it (found in shops), over roadmaps (found in petrol stations) to the very rare topographic map (found in army installations). There could be other sorts found in industrial areas, every kind of map imaginable. Some of them might only cover a part of the playable area. This, I think, would really improve on the orienteering aspect of Dayz.

SOMEWHERE TO STORE ITEMS IN THE STANDALONE
Max Planck replied to THEKIDINABOX's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What you gain, is the long hours of gameplay. It's supposed to be fun. If you don't enjoy if, this game might not be for you. The high intensity risks a an integral part of the game, it's actually the reason a lot of people play. Dayz is not a mainstream game, it is not a typical shooter. You should have done some research before downloading it. -
This would remove the possibility of backstabbery and thus the whole 'trust him/trust him not' part of player interaction would disappear. Might as well be NPCs then.

A non-modified vanilla Dayz updated whitelisted European server?
Max Planck replied to mitor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yep. I don't know about the vehicle hoarding though, it hasn't bothered me after it was made impossible to hide stuff outside the map. If people hoard vehicles, you can find them. -

They have tons of members and zero complaints about that. I have never gotten spam on my phone by the way. From anywhere. -

Here you go: http://mydayz.de/en/gameserver I have been whitelisted, though I haven't played yet. There is a bunch of servers to choose from, most of them vanilla. Looks good. EDIT: Try #11, it has all the immersion breakers set to off. -
The wealth of information is staggering, maybe you could trim it down a little?

I'll let you answer that: Apart from that I think, all we can agree to is to disagree. EDIT: Hey Rpatto, sorry for the hijack. We are why you can't have nice things.
