I've talked to Rocket about that, and he said it's a problem with the engine and that they won't be able to fix it. Sorry.

I'm fairly certain he never said any of the sort, though you might be able to prove me wrong. He did say though, that they don't want too many people joining at the initial alpha release. First because many people don't understand what it is, but also because it would be hard to provide servers for a huge number of people. When the final release is out though, there is no reason why everyone and their mother and her goat shouldn't buy it. I don't see how competitors who started later would finish first. A lot of work has gone into changing the engine into something that fits the scope of the project, it should provide a great foundation for what is coming. I firmly believe that when the SA comes out it'll stand head and shoulders above everything else remotely similar.

I LOVE your drawings, please make more suggestions that need illustrations. The idea is good too, I hope it is possible. You would probably need to lower your mouse speed a bit to make it workable though.

You need to turn post-processing off in the video options, this will stop the nausea/headaches. It will also make the game look and run a lot better in my opinion. In fact, everyone I know about did this first thing after downloading... Except for Rocket. For some odd reason he likes it, he must have a strong stomach.

Are you suggesting that they shouldn't release anything till it's complete? If that's the way you'd like it, just refrain from buying it in the alpha stage. Every time I see someone refer to themselves as a 'Hardcore Gamer' I feel like breaking something beautiful. I also have no idea where you got your idea about Rocket's intentions.

That's some nice sleuthing there, I think we can consider this one settled.

If people opt out of updates, the updates won't be tested. The alpha is an open testing phase, I don't think we can expect to play it like a fully released game. There is always the option of waiting till release, though.

Since it's Friday night, I've been charged with the responsibility of informing you guys on the current situation. Right now Rocket is eating pickled eggs and olives in his underpants, while yelling at a guy on the telly who's saying something about the circulatory system of fish. Though seemingly unhinged and red eyed, his mind is busy at work planning his next trip: He has to climb the mountain of empty beer cans surrounding his couch, dodge the rats and the ferret, and reach the bathroom before it is time to call his friend Eeaarrl on the big white phone. Meanwhile Matt is huddled in his corner, working hard and focused on his booger wall. The screaming and banging on the walls don't bother him, he is in the zone. Further bulletins will have to wait till Monday.

I wish I could forget everything I know about the loot map, DayZ was a lot more fun when there was still new things to see and find. When I could still lose my way and get in trouble. Chernarus+ will bring that feeling back, though.

Just start a new character. In a couple of weeks you'll know the mechanics by heart, you will know the name of your favourite server to play on, and you'll be back here on the forums to poke fun at threads like this one. You mark my words.

It will be. All items have a 'condition' and can degrade or break. If someone shoots your backpack for example, the stuff in it will be ruined.

Well of course, that shouldn't come as a surprise. We are pretty far from release, that was never a secret. There's the whole 'open alpha' phase ahead of us for starters. That will be a good time to address those concerns you mentioned.

There is the actual game release. This is what you need. Then, there is the open alpha. You probably don't need this. The alpha will be a bug-ridden, barebones experience with arma sounds and few rifles. It will improve over time with feedback from the testers. My advice: Wait until the game is finished, read reviews, then make your decision.
