will zeds be dropped from the game?
Max Planck replied to imjustatourist's topic in General Discussion
There is only one thread that describes the contents of future patches, it's this one. 'More zombies' is the very first item on the list... -
Why not explain how? I sort of agree, if the two are to remain split off from each other, there is really no need to balance them against each other. They can be different in difficulty and it shouldn't bother anyone. There are other things that could be problematic though, like the effect on vision from items like helmets and gasmasks. I don't see how these effects could be implemented in 3rdP, and I worry that dev time will be taken away from this superfragilisticexpialidocious feature if it can't even be used in more than half the servers. There might also be other planned features that wouldn't work when you are not seeing things from your guy's perspective, this is speculation though. What I'm trying to say is, I hope development won't be split into two different 'branches', as that would probably hurt both.

Not quite. The 'troubleshooting' forum is for posting problems ('troubles') so other people can help you with them ('shoot those pesky troubles down'). Hence the name. If, on the other hand, you want to report a bug, you must submit it to the feedback tracker: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/my_view_page.php Also, please don't shout at me, it is not polite and I don't like it. Hope that helped, -Max

Then why would you want them? Bwaahahahaha!

Hi, I don't know where else to ask for a fix to this or how I should contact DayZ support.
Max Planck replied to CPT. Santa's topic in Troubleshooting
I'm pretty sure you have to contact Steam. Submit a ticket, that should sort it out. -
Yeah, many people think that. That's why we have hundreds of threads identical to this one. Goodnight.

Mosquitoes. Now we are talking realism.
-
I did. But that quote I gave you is the only thing anybody knows. The project lead of DayZ made it, do you think some random guy on the forums has a better idea of how development is going?
-
Sure, right here: More Zombies Target delivery: Ongoing We absolutely plan to have more zombies. To cope with the current total dynamic entity count of over 10000 we have had to make a great deal of optimizations. If loot is completely removed, we can easily run 4000 zombies in our debug builds. In the new year we will be optimizing the way we handle dynamic objects (such as loot) a great deal more which should give us significant savings - but the change was considered too risky to be done prior to alpha launch. If we had problems, we would have delayed the project further by months.

There are no gasmasks in the mod. Also, the limited field of vision from wearing a gasmask would look a bit silly in 3rdP. The 3rd person cam would be wearing the mask?
-
I'm fairly certain that gasmasks and such will limit your vision in patches to come. Just like shades will help against the sun glare. Anybody have an idea on how this could work in 3rdP?

My spirit is ready, but my flesh is weak. I'll do it too. I'll call the reason 'enjoyment'. In the mod I played 1stP only. Always, always. Both because I didn't like being seen by people obscured by walls, but also because I felt so much more there. In the forest, in Chernarus. In the SA it's different, for me. I like seeing my poor guy, running around in his bright orange raincoat and silly tophat. I do all kinds of posing stuff and take screenshots that only I ever look at. I also find it makes long treks more interesting, the game becomes sort of a hiking simulator (in a good way). I still prefer 1stP and always use it in cities/towns, but when just running around I like it the other way too. In short, I don't really know what I want. I think it will all be better when private hives come around, that way we can play in the way we prefer on a more persistent server. I would like to see the 'line-of-sight' thing working too, I think that could be a good solution/third alternative. EDIT: I never had a problem finding a populated 1stP server in the mod, just for the record.

I've locked the other thread in the hope that the discussion can have a fresh and sober start here. Please be civil. This is just about a mechanic in a computer game, after all. Insults and personal attacks will be moderated.

Third person view removal from SA discussion
Max Planck replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
And with this piece of non-contribution, this thread is laid to rest. The discussion may continue in a calm and civil manner over here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/162565-fix-not-remove-third-person-perspective/ Don't ruin that one with personal insults and namecalling, it will be moderated. -

Good, that's one of the two ways to do it. It's all explained in this sticky that people seem to avoid like the plague.
-
Development is ongoing, every patch will fix something and break something else. Some things can also appear broken to you because you don't care for them. Please don't make one of these posts after every patch. It isn't necessary, nobody is trying to break the game. Game development is finicky, this is why you were asked not to buy into the alpha if you have a low tolerance for bugs and missing features.

When storage and vehicles get introduced, I think it will be more tempting to have some sort of home to put it in. A town would be easier to defend than, say, a clearing in the forest. More fun too.
-
You would have to be a smurf to walk in the sewers of a small town.
-
Please read more of this and post less of this. Locked.
-
This is not how we talk to each other here, nobody here is 'garbage'. You may disagree, but keep your insults to yourself.

in the dayz mod battle eye is not working
Max Planck replied to holygodzilla's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You need to explain what the problem is. Otherwise it is really, really hard to help you. -
You can secure a town by having the firepower/numbers to defend it.

Third person view removal from SA discussion
Max Planck replied to lev's topic in General Discussion
Unfortunately it's his right to be stupid and ignorant. Otherwise I'd be spamming that button. I just take the right to point it out. I believe Inception just asked you to drop the fight with Ken Bean, and you completely ignored him. And just to make it clear: You do not have the right to call other forum members 'stupid and ignorant'. Time for a little break. Make your point without calling people 'idiots' please, this is getting ridiculous. @Everyone else: What the hell is going on? Why is it not possible to discuss this without getting so aggressive, so determined to win? There is nothing to win here, there is no prize. This is embarrassing. Please remember that we share these forums, we'll all have to live with each other afterwards. So again, please, shake hands and agree to disagree. And leave goddamn Hitler out of it. -
Talk to Steam. Also, work on your topics a little.
