    Since the arma devs intended this change, I don't think we'll have much luck complaining to them. Most likely Rocket will have to change the mod files if he want the damage profiles to reflect that we aren't soldiers in body armour. Besides, asking for DayZ related changes over there is just asking to get flamed.... The regulars seem to hate all things DayZ, which have 'ruined' their milsim.

    The zeds aren't dead, they are living infected humans. Other than that I pretty much agree. A good solution would be to lower player health.

    I'm pretty sure that comment was just a response to the general complaining about DayZ that was filling the thread. There is nothing in 1.62 that improves on DayZ and Rocket was not aware of the changes. Don't you think they would have told him if they had decided to 'improve' his mod?

    Are you implying that it was changed because of DayZ? Rocket didn't seem to know about it, and DayZ does not benefit from it in any way. No one asked for it. Why should there be a connection? It's not a 'funny' fact, it's an 'irrelevant' fact.

    You know what? I'll just repeat myself, it's easier that way. Here goes, it's about balance vs realism: "I play for the immersion, the feeling that I'm actually there trying to survive. I like sneaking around, listening to the creaking branches and the birds, knowing that someone might be close and that a single bullet can kill me. That feeling is lost with the changes in 1.62, and I really think that sucks. It's not like there's a ton of other places I can go to find a smiliar experience, but people who want a 'Boom-headshot-lololol' multiplayer shooter have options a plenty."   11. So, according to the wisest owls of the arma community, the changes are due to fixing some 'air drag' bug and were done on purpose. I guess we better get used to playing a game in which you can take 14 gunshots to the chest and keep on tapdancing. EDIT: tapdancing emote maybe?

    Thanks for the link, underscore. I've already read the thread though, it's mostly people going "stupid dayz noobs broke my game - gbtCoD" and such comments, except for a guy explaining how it has to do with fixing an old bug in the arma engine. No official statement on the matter yet. As for contributions, I really don't feel like signing up for that forum as I've only been playing DayZ so far. We aren't that welcome in there.

    Yeah, sadly the buildings don't do much to conceal you from zeds, you still need to sneak if there's a wall between you, and not being able to see them makes it impossible to know which way they are looking. Tricky. My advice, crouch walk/stand still when you hear heavy breathing. Strange, this has never happened to me.

    They have a field of vision. They see things in front of them well and are blind to things behind them, so it takes timing and planning to get past them unseen. Remember, if someone is close enough for you to see them they can probably see you as well.
  18. Fuck people, seriously. I want fear, I want the game to literally make me hungry and cold, I want my socks to get all muddy and my hair to get full of burrs while I'm playing the game at my desk. Up the damage and lower the ammo drops, that would make me happy.
  19. Those are some nice numbers, you clearly put some effort into it. That said, if someone shoots you in the chest with a rifle you will need to lie down for a bit. I think the damage should reflect this.

    Thanks. I would really like to see some attention go towards the audio side of things in the future, it has a very significant impact on the experience in my opinion.
  22. I think it is the most important topic, I don't care that much about damage to the zeds as they are very sneakaroundable. But when it comes to fighting other players, these changes have bombed the immersion back to... well, CoD. Who are you talking to? There is a quote function.

    Yeah, it seems the arma forums are finally getting up in arms (sorry) over this issue. Most people are blaiming DayZ and DayZ players for the change though, and still no official explanation.
  24. Ok. Zombies aside, do you think it's a good thing that it takes more than a full magazine from a 45cal pistol to kill a living non-infected human? Is it authentic? Does it 'fit' in the DayZ experience?
