You need to do this: 1: install arma 2: install the expansions in order (not dayz) 3: start arma until you reach it's main menu then exit 4: start each expansion pack in order like step 3 5: install beta patch via steam and start like step 3 then exit 6: install dayz via steam 7: install dayz commander 8: update dayz and server type through dayz commander, like epoch for example. 9: find server to play on and enjoy.

If someone wanted to build their own server, what would be needed for 50 slots, roaming ai, lots of scripts, and no lag. Would you need dual xeon 8 core cpus =ing 16 cores?

Spend like 30 dollars and get a cooler master evo or 212+ and OC your cpu to at least 4.2Ghz and you should be good.

Instead of rendering a whole new suit, why not just add option to current gillies to where if you're say, in prone, you scroll/click camo, then a transparent filter added to the player. Transparent % depends on skill, time in prone/non-moving position, and environment.

Anyone know of a good Origins server? I tried a few out and don't understand the 4 choices on where to start. Are the 4 choices all on same map but different areas? How do you know when you're in a non-pvp zone?

I went and bought a helicopter flight joystick but I'm finding that when i move the mouse by mistake my plane/heli goes full retard and I crash. Is there a way to disable or change mouse movements to where you're looking?

Well I could prob rent rack space and get at least T2 speed I think. More of a thought than anything. I priced out some hardware for a 16 core xeon build at about 11k usd.

Did you update to the latest epoch build? If so, most servers haven't did the update yet. Make sure the build version you have installed is the same the server is running.

I think it would be nice to see cities run by heroes or bandits. Maybe make it dynamic where there can be a power struggle. I think this would give players that don't like KoS a chance to have a place to play. Maybe if a city is currently under the control of heroes that any killing results in the heroes coming after you and you're automatically a KoS for hero ai until a certain time has passed or you're killed. Ownable rooms in a hotel in city would be cool to. Give you a chance to play thief class and attempt to break into people's rooms. Of course this would get you a KoS if caught or surrender and be given a jailhouse ban for X-amount of time. This way you can choose between losing your equipment or being in jail(ban) for x-amount of time.

No, jail could be say a 5min ban done by scripts.
