  1. Does anybody here have some spare tissues for the whiners?
  2. After a long time of "shooting on sight encounters", yesterday, my friend and me were surprised that we found a friendly in the Polana supermarket. My friend went inside and started looting, while I was in the building opposite side. When I came in, I saw a hero with a hatchet right next to him, but he didn't move. My friend was scared but I told him not to shoot. The hero said that he could've killed him if he wanted to, but he didn't because he hoped I will not shoot him <_<. (not a native English/German speaker, so I didn't really understand what he meant, but he sounded okay). I then offered him a ride in our little bird and we flew him up to Novy Sobor, where he left. About an hour later, the hero asked if we could give him yet another lift and pick him up at Vybor, which we did. He even gave us 3 full jerry cans of fuel for the pick up. Morale of the story: Faith in humanity restored!

Is it worth it? (Looting guide)

I think the guide is good for new players. For anybody else, this should be conclusions through experience. Big houses inside town 1: Loot fast and stay down 2: Loot very slowly don't try to miss anything One thing though: What is it now? FAST? OR SLOW?

New patch coming soon to dayz

It's not a good idea to change night time in such a way that it basically represents a darker day (I know exaggeration, sorry). What REALLY might boost players will to play at night if for example certain items will ONLY spawn during night, or if chances of finding items at night are increased. In my eyes, a great idea to encourage playing at night would be if sniper rifles are only spawned during night. That means that the only chance to get a sniper rifle is to kill somebody and pick up his weapon (or to find a dead body with a rifle on), or to play at night.

Should I Buy a2 or not now?

Of course buy it now. How much is Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA now? 30 bucks? Think of those 2 games as a basic car that you tune up with 100000s of mods and add-ons, one of them being DayZ. DayZ alone will give you, if you like it, a minimum of 500 hours of playtime. The other mods, should you be interested in exploring the Arma universe will easily give you years of gaming out of this single game. Actually, you might want to check out the prices for a clone of yourself who can assist you with all that awesome playing time this series delivers. I have to warn you however: The Arma series brought me close to divorce and unemployment because I set my priorities wrong. Ok, just kidding.

DayZ Developer Blog 15th April Highest one ever

Oh my god! ONLY four days since the last one? I am on withdrawal for 4 days already. No wonder I started cutting myself again. And poking myself again...
  8. I played on this server before. It's fun for PvP. But it is not DayZ. It's Arma 2 with zombies and the need for eating and drinking.
  9. Yes, nerve racking. While flying the helicopter to my buddy at Kamenka, I smoked a cigarette, totally pumped and literary shaking. During the whole flight, I told my friend what has happened and that I was happy that he didn't voice spammed the TS. That would've given me the rest between him being shot out of nowhere and me killing the bandit. I am telling everybody here: often, patience in firefights and staying calmly with a plan pay off. Since the helicopter was still running the bandit could've jumped into it and right away go up air. If the engine would've been off, I would have waited a bit to check if the bandit has back up. (happened to me once before in a pretty similar event involving 2 of my buddies and a car). Regarding the quote "Lights out motherfucker". I don't know where it comes from, but I heard it being said in other games I played and found it a cool sentence. And fitting to this situation. haha
  10. Be aware when I am on. While I totally understand your idea with the bait thing (and I don't doubt that it works out many times), I am usually expecting to find more, once I found a vehicle or a tent. ESPECIALLY on servers that don't show your position on the map. I usually acted like you described: found a car/tent with some gear and I ran away, hiding the loot, assuming I found what I needed. But there was this one incident, I was driving a tractor (yeah I know, pathetic) and a helicopter was to be heard. I drove into a forrest and saw a white car. "Cool, exchange tractor for white car" was my thought. The helicopter was still flying not too far away from me (couldn't see it but always hear it), and I decided to check this little forest area before I drive the car out. I discovered a tent with 4 main weapons, some grenades and medical supplies. I was happy and put that stuff from the tent into the car. The car was facing direction Berezino and since I came from there, I turned it 180 degrees and drove through the forrest (that god damn helicopter...) until I come close to a ridge that goes down sharply. My eyes fell off when I saw a military offroad and a military truck. So I check the jeep (completely empty) and the truck. Holy lord! 3 AS 50 with 12 mags, 12 grenades, 1 ACOG, 1 DMR, 2 M 249, 2 M 16s, 2 GPS and 2 tents). So I destroyed the tractor, the white car and the military offroad (scorched earth policy for the win!) and drove the truck North, placing 2 tents, splitting up the gear in between them. Parked the truck (which was found next day, but empty) and had some fun. 2-3 days later, 3 bandits were reported at Stary Sobor. A newbie got killed and in side chat he said sth like: "These guys said I stole their vehicles and gear because I was carrying THEIR AS 50 and destroyed their cars...What's wrong with these people." I was like <_<, patiently waiting for 3 bandits, coming to the NWAF. Unfortunately they didn't show up. Still waiting B)
  11. Just yesterday: Friend of me and I are flying a little bird when we came across a heli crashsite. We flew around it several times to check if any players are close-by. After our 4th/5th round, we decided, that there was nobody there. My friend landed the bird and I jumped out. In the same second, he gets shot and shouts "I am hit" in Teamspeak. He jumps out of the helicopter and says "I am dying, unconcious". Through the dust that the helicopter created, I was able to jump behind a tree in a small forest literally 20meters from our helicopter. I waited, looking up to the ridge that I assumed the guy shot at us. I couldn't see well because the sunlight was blinding me but after like 30 seconds, I saw a shadow behind a bush, probably between 60-80 meters away from me. I am moving slightly to my left, away from the helicopter, to keep the tree between me and the bandit (I only had an AKM, while he seemed to have a DMR). Another minute passes by, my friend died and all of a sudden, I see the bandit running from the treeline towards the helicopter. Just 10 meters in front of the helicopter, I fire 5-7 shots and he goes down. Not sure if I hit him or if he just dove down, I slowly approached him until I saw that he was unconcious. So I walked around him, looking into his face, switching my voice channel from side to direct. I raise my weapon and "Lights out motherfucker. This is for my buddy". I unloaded the rest of the mag, approx. 23-25 shots into him. Took his stuff (Alice pack, MP 5, DMR, GPS) loaded it into the little bird. Then I buried him. Then I went to my buddy's body, took his stuff, buried him in honor and flew up to Kamenka to pick him up again. Damn, was I pumped and excited.

Dayz SA to be a failure

When I first played the game like in July 2012, it was awesome that you can play on 1 server, disconnect, join another server 2 days later and start with what you had found earlier at the point of disconnection. You walk for hours, searching every treeline for the sign of a tent or a car. Today, you play on 1 server, disconnect, join another server, start again from Kamenka, just that you got spawned in with a GPS, Lee Enfield (or even DMR occasionally). Today, you connect to servers that advertise themselves with 900+ vehicles, 25+ helicopters and you don't bother to check out vehicles anymore since you chose the best one that you found in Chernogorsk available, all green, fully filled. You die and it doesn't bother you much anymore. Also, today, it's not just one server that has BMP's, Bradleys or even Apache helicopters with 24 rockets running. Today, this is not DayZ like it initially was supposed to be. Today, we are actually playing 25% DayZ and 75% Arma 2. Just with zombies.

Let's not talk about glasses being liquid. There are more important topics for us that cry for logical answers, while they leave huge space for speculation. The question is: Is the DayZ SA development an inside job or not? PS: and a 2nd question could be: what do the Ilumminati have to do with it?

    Skilled Vs Unskilled bandits

I totally understand the OP. Last gaming session, me and my 2 (new to DayZ) friends were very close to NW airfield when the server restarted. Upon respawning at our location, we continued on the plan that we've made while the server restarted (we took a 15 minutes, smoking, tactical break while talking on TS). Upon approaching the north-east hangars of NW airfield, a guy with a DMR runs out, followed by zombies. Our group decided NOT to attack him. The bandit was scared however and threw a nade, not injuring any of us, but all of ous deaphened. After looting the barracks, one of my friends said that we will take our car to Stary Sobor. He said that on the direct channel, which turned out, the bandit must've listened. We had to refill the car in Vybor before and went to Stary. Inside the camp, we were half-way through looting the tents, when my friend gets hit by a DMR shot. He's wounded and jumps into the tent with my other friend, patching up. After a minute, they both decide to charge to kill the bandit, beacuse they were scared of losing our car. I told them to stay, but too late. Both got killed. I waited for 15 minutes until I saw the guy running to the car. I had an M16 and wanted to cross him and kill, but unfortunately, he was closer to the car and managed to get into it. I couldn't even shoot. Around 30 minutes later, I was on my way to Novy Sobor and the bandit awaited me, gave a warning shot and said "I killed both your friends. Lay down your weapon and I let you live". He did. He checked my gear, even left me my gun, around 50 meters down the street so that he could escape when leaving me alone. Great skill, I admitted. And in the end, my friends got a helicopter ride to Stary Sobor from some other friends. THIS, is real bandit behavior. On the other hand, you have those wannabe-bandits that are in a ghillie suit (or have a high-end weapon), running through Elektro and Cherno, shooting freshspawns that don't even have a hatchet. Sometimes it's so bad that I simply switch servers. That's not a bandit at all. That's a player that forgot that Arma 2 is a game where you can shoot a lot more on the same map. Just that there is a challenge because you face other players on-par with your gear.

I am sorry but I will at least partly disagree on this. Arma 3 is released as an Alpha. Only a blind person will not notice this info on the right bottom corner of the screen when launching and being in the game. However, check the Arma 3 forums and make a not of how many morons there are complaining about being ripped off because of "little content, bad performance and bugs". Some people there really should receive the Darwin award. DayZ, even if released as an Alpha, has so high expectations on it, it must have a rather good first impression in order to avoid a shitstorm. That's the sad thing in the 21st centure, thanks to all our "entitlment generations".

    add money to the game

Yes, I have played Fallout 3. The difference is that in Fallout 3, the apocalypse happened long time ago already and simple market places have been established already. Like towns were build and (sorry, for not knowing the English word), the tops of bottles were accepted as a trade item that displays a value such as currency. In DayZ however, the world we are thrown in is simply in chaos with no rules at all. Gold only keeps value because of the belief that if all currencies are down, with gold, you can get a value for any new currency that is established. Gold would be worth sth after the Zombieapocalypse has been solved and a new economy established. In DayZ as of now, gold would only get a value if you had NPC trademarkets that allow you to exchange gold into guns/bullets/food/other items. Why on earth would a player take 1 ton of gold instead of 1 can of beans? It only fills slots in your car that you can't use for more valuable gear. PS: After-DayZ as the next project? Establish a working world again? haha
  17. After I read the other thread about "The laughing man's private hive servers" admins abusing their power, today I played on 3 other servers. First one: 24/7 daylight, left after 10 minutes when I found out through a chat message Second one: I spawn on the coast with a pistol (which I don't like), run to the Balota airfield where I hear gunshots. I go into the 2nd hangar and see how a bandit patches himself after he just killed a new spawn. I shot him and took his gear (usually I don't kill, but bandit skin and a murder moments ago made me believe he will kill me as soon as he is fixed). Afterwards, I run to Cherno and I am at the fire station. I enter it and get shot by a guy in a ghillie with an Mk 48. It appears that it was the server admin that I just killed 10 minutes earlier. No way he got that gear that quickly again... Third server: FINALLY found a server running nighttime. Unfortunately, the night is not as dark as usual and all buildings that are enterable are glowing for easy pathfinding. Gave up for today, will try to find a decent server again tomorrow.

My bet is on after the trip. And I actually would prefer it so. I am sure that Rocket has given all his ideas to the team. First testing is done. Rather than rushing the game's release date and risking a buggy release, Rocket could climb Everest and let the team polish the content that's currently available and focus on a smooth integration. Rocket could have a clear mind, climbin Everest and when he returns, see how far his team has come. Contrary to that, he releases the game prior to his Everest trip. A reload bug occurs where when you have 1 bullet left in your mag and simply disconnect from the server and reconnect again, you get a full mag back. A shitstrom breaks lose and 24 hours prior to going to Everest, a hotfix is launched which causes another game crash. The stress to fullfill the expectations is mind-blowing and not good for a project such as Everest.

Ah, a new devblog would've been great. But if there is none, I give them the benefit of the doubt, that they are simply busy with working on the project. And to all guys saying that development takes too long: Guys, you seriously don't want to have a rushed out game. And so do the developers. Better make sure that the first release is stable and delivers a great experience than having to catch up with all the flame and trouble after release. First impressions are super important. Check out WarZ (I don't have the game, but found the online flamewar entertaining) and RO 2 (where I come from). 2 years after release, RO 2 has improved a lot, but still has to fight with rushed out design choices and bugs that will not allow this game to ever recover because developers shot their own community in the knees. Multiple times. I rather wait another 12 months and have sth playable that is fun and gets a lot of great feedback from players and game magazines, than a game that only keeps 50% of its promises and has to fight with bugs and the shitstorm that's sure to be followed. Patience, friends. Patience is all we need.

I love it when native speakers complain about others not speaking their language 100% correctly. Now I could be a dick and ask you: How many languages do you speak? Assuming that your location is "Xzibit's house", English is not your strength either.

Sounds good to me. A bit upset about the high costs for the standalone thoug as I will have to work some overtime to be able to afford it. Hopefully this will keep the CoD kiddies out though.
