An angry fella. I bet a typical Electro-sniper kind of guy...

Well facebook I use for uploading some pics to show my parents, brother and friends, that's all. I just mentioned twitter because I thought rocket posted on there before but I could be wrong. Did I forget mentioning that youtube is blocked here too? Now that hurts....
-
Oh man thank you. I am currently living in a country where reddit, facebook and twitter are blocked and I am too lazy to always switch to my proxy... So this is greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Well there you go rocket. You better deliver or you will "MindBlindness"

I am not really concerned. In fact, it can come out whenever it will. I have a job to do, a wife to take care of, friends to visit (especially since it's almost friday evening here) and many movies to watch and other games to play. It's just that this forum is freaking funny and I honestly say: I like the hypetrain. haha
-
In my eyes, rocket's statements either mean a release is within today (friday 8th) or monday/tuesday of the coming week. I am still thinking it will be the coming tuesday because a friday release is very unlikely, considering that any kind of quick fix or server issue cannot be resolved over the weekend. At least I assume so. Tension level currently: 89%

Hope so. And I hope they still comment on these boards so that I have sth to read and laugh about when I have the free time to read during working hours.

The only bad thing about the standalone release will be that insanity like in this thread will be something of the past. Every morning, I am reading this thread before I go to work, during work and after I came back home. BEST FREE entertainment I got so far through the internet. A lot of creative and funny weirdos on this thread. KEEP THOSE GIFS AND PICS COMING!!!

@AnarchyBrownies Sounds great. One thing though: Any problems with hackers so far?
-
Shouldn't you better be asking how to get out of it again?
-
By the way. In that last pic with the scoped Mosin Nagant. Is that a walking stick at the backpack? I mean those stick people use to walk when they have a broken leg or sth?
-
Because the predicted 5th November release didn't happen, I think the Zombie Apocalypse is just a fairy tale and there is no such thing as "DayZ standalone".

What I don't understand is that people are so god-damn unpatient these days. Sure, I want the game. I prefer to have it tomorrow than next week. BUT, I am expecting a decent version and I'll wait until that comes, even if it's next year or the year after. So far, everything Rocket and his team did with DayZ lead me to like the game and to be optimistic about what's coming. I am working in Marketing/Sales myself and no matter how big the hype is, the delivery of a solid product is most important. All that unpatient ranting I am reading on these forums and others are in my eyes only a sign of what's going to happen when DayZ is not delivering upon release. That's ALPHA release. Everybody that is now complaining about "Where is the fucking game? I WANT IT NOW" is very likely to be the first poster of criticism about "You have dumbed down DayZ! THIS SUCKS". The same happened within the Call of Duty series. The same happened with the Battlefield series. The same happened with Total War games. The same happened with the Civilization series. Examples are countless to be found. What that taught me is simple: If a developer thinks it's not ready for release, Alpha or final doesn't matter, well, it's simply not ready. If Rocket is smart and so far I think he is, he knows that most likely, he will not be able to hit the expectations that are laying on this game. I am sure, as a business person, he understands that he can better delay a release, even for another 12 months, to make sure that the first version of his product is sufficient to have a decent playerbase on this. To almost all the people filling countless threads and forums with "I am not interested anymore", I can only say "If you weren't interested anymore, you'd left already. You'll buy the game anyway". That's what I would put my money on. Guys, just be patient.

Hey, that actually makes perfect sense! Thanks for opening my eyes.

Everybody should load up Arma 2 now and check that area. Are there any hints on numbers that could mean a release date? Like on commercial banners inside the game world? House numbers? Count the numbers of trees in that area and see if they can equate to a date? You know where I am coming from. I am sure, the game will release within the next 2-3 weeks. Maybe even on thursday since it's Halloween? Anyways, I would find it funny if rocket releases it without announcing it. Let's see how long that secret would be kept. With the stalkers in this thread, my bet is 127 seconds...

September Round-up: DevBlog, #DayZDaily, PAX, GDC China
Sensemann replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I probably never understand the unpatient people. Guys, quality goes first. I rather have a stable launch that builds the base for future content updates, rather than having sth instable and awfully coded that uses me as a beta tester to the extent of me feeling mislead on purchasing a game of which I can't see if it will ever make it. DayZ is not losing players. People will come back and new players will enter the arena. It's not like DayZ had a predecessor that was so bad that people are not willing to buy it. Quite the opposite. And in the meantime, the waiting time until DayZ launches (hopefullly before/early winter, where I have nearly unlimited time to play), there are other games to play. Arma 3, Rome 2 Total War (which is a good example for a buggy release), GTA 5 (on PS3) are time consuming whores that I rather play to death now than being distracted to play when DayZ comes out. I am sure you guys also have other games to play, so just do that and let the devs do their job. If they screw up a release, the shouting will be tougher than the crying we experience right now as in "Mommy, I can still not play because the devs take their time". -

As soon as Rocket hits the red button and the game is available for download I will be like: "Honey, no sex tonight!" -
DayZ Developer Blog 7th September 2013
Sensemann replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I really like the way DayZ is going, but I have one major concern: Tents! Considering that in the mod, you can carry backpacks with 24 slots plus the 12 slots in your immediate inventory, players can have enough guns, ammo, food and drinks to survive and go on a killing spree. And why wouldn't they? If they set up a tent, they can be sure that within 12 hours it is looted in highly populated servers. Reason being the visibility of the tents from above. Anybody in a helicopter can recognize tents too easy. With all the crafting possibilities in the stand-alone, I assume that you will need to set up a tent to fill it with all those items that potentially allow you to build sth out of. So all I am saying: Give the lone-wolfers a chance by not making tents being so easy to be spotted from a helicopter. After being abscent of DayZ for 2 months, I played again last weekend and as of now, tents are pretty useless. -
I actually don't want to put any pressure on the devs, but it would be nice if I knew if the release date of the game will be within the next 2 weeks. I hope not. I am going on a holiday trip and if the release was happening while I am afk, I would get a heart attack. Take your time Rocket!

Why does everyone complain about night time?
Sensemann replied to MasterShak3's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I loved the nighttime when I started playing DayZ around 1.5 years ago. It was the most intense immersion the game could offer. I remember being surprised by the darkness while in Cherno and I played 8 hours straight through the nighttime without ever leaving town. That time, KOS mentality wasn't that wide spread and being a nice guy with NV goggles, I loved to scare the shit out of freshspawns by simply appearing next to them or talking to them in direct chat while they were basically blind, armed with an axe and couldn't see me. I then helped many of them to get basic equipment and told them that the second they pick up a gun, I will disappear, just because I was afraid of them shooting at me. (I knew they are blind and couldn't follow me, but I didn't want to shoot them either). Some funny time I had included me picking up a Japanese player who hardly spoke any English. We somehow managed a complete tour through Cherno (firestation, market, church, apartments) without having to bother with too many zombies, while there were 2 bandits in the factory area, throwing roadflare after roadflare, shooting zombies for fun. The Japanese guy was the only one I trusted to pick up a gun (silenced M16) while running around with me. He was nice and somehow I had the feeling that his idea of honor fits mine. Great that I didn't have to regret it, because when the sun was rising on the server, we parted and wished each other good luck. What a wonderful session that was. Since then, nighttime always caused servers to lose players. From 40-50 to 4-5 whenever it became pitch black. So sad... I hate this artificial full moon lightning. Might as well play 24/7 daylight servers. Oh wait... -
Ok, since I have some time, I am writing some stuff without telling you too many details. DayZ lives from own experiences and telling you how to survive immediately would only lower your impression of a game that is torn apart by people who don't want to be challenged. So here we go: 1. First and MOST IMPORTANT. You watched a lot of videos about DayZ. Treat yourself by finding an official DayZ server that runs standard DayZ. DO NOT join a server that advertises itself with "600+ vehicles 40+ helicopters, spawn with weapon and extra loot". Those servers are fun if you want a quick rush out of a PvP experience. This is not DayZ however. This is more like Arma 2 with zombies and basic needs (if you actually survive long enough to ever feel hungry/thirsty). 2. When you found a server that runs original, basic DayZ (can't stress that enough), do yourself a favor and do not use any aid online for a while. Such as: opening a map of Chernarus on your laptop or printing out a loot map. This will only minimize your true DayZ experience. This mod lives from its atmosphere which is "You against a world full of shit". The major keeper of DayZ is that as a starter, you are thrown into the cold water, without an idea about where you are, where to go, where to find this and that and what to do in the long run. You gotta find out by yourself where you can find food, drinks, equipment, guns. The frustration of being killed once after gearing up completely decreases with each time of being killed as you have learned where to find stuff and what to avoid next time. Don't let online information decrease that experience by using aids! 3. When playing the game, understand that nobody is your friend until he has proven you otherwise. It's essential (!!!) to have a mic so that you can communicate with other players via direct voice chat. One of the best parts of DayZ is that you don't know what that guy up there at the supermarket is up to. Go to him without being seen. Shoot him if you want his stuff. Or contact him if you want to try negotiating with him or teaming up. If you are skilled in the game (or experienced in Arma 2), use its mechanics to your favor and take control of a situation by aiming at the other player while telling him that you will not shoot him. You might find a great buddy to run along with for some time, that you can rely on and 2 men are worth more than a lonewolfer. However, the guy that you trusted might as well put a bullet into your head the moment you turn his back to him. It's up to you and faith. 4. One tip that many new players don't understand: Zombies are spawned by players. Meaning: If you look from a mountain into a town and you don't see any zombies around (assuming you are far away from the town), is an indicator that no player is inside said town. If there are zombies, a player should be close-by. Use this information for your strategy on approaching. However, be aware that snipers tend to lay down just far enough not to spawn zombies so that you think it's safe. REMEMBER: THE MOMENT YOU THINK IT'S SAFE, IS THE MOMENT YOU LOW DOWN YOUR AWARENESS. THAT'S USUALLY THE MOMENT YOU WILL SEE THE DEATH SCREEN. Have fun and again: don't use aids if you want a really good game.

How will you encourage players to play at nighttime and not make the babies switching servers once it's getting dark?
-
That's an easy one. Today's kids are not man enough and are afraid of the dark. Solution: Full moon nights that make the night become daylight bright again :o
