Seen alot of "prisoner threads".. its a good idea i guess.. though i think theres alot more usefull ideas than this that should be implemented first but hey whatever its still a cool idea.. probably more applies to the gang mentality.. I dare say people are less inclined to try an escape if there's a group of 4-6 seedy players -
Howzabout a leather trench/duster/drizabone coat with a hood..I dare say that would give you official permission to be an axe murderer >:(

Hello ! I graduated a film course last year and I'm making a zombie survival horror teaser in a few months time when the weather cools down In my part of the world due to living in a tropical kind of environment. Thought I might throw a few things up I've been working on.. Here is a simple title I made a while ago and I shall upload some storyboards aswell ^_^ I plan to direct, shoot & edit everything along with some help of others I know with the same interests

I like it.. and keep it basic aswell yes If the standalone is done right hopefully it wont have 3rd person view. It doesn't belong in dayZ

Its a very good idea and I've been thinking about it for AGES ! ! ! I'm glad I searched before starting a new topic. I would also love to see some kind of system for hiding spots designed to hide different levels of item stashes Other than the obvious (inside furniture draws etc, if this is even possible?) For example maybe if you found a hammer/crowbar/toolbox and perhaps you could jimmy open steps (in or outside) of a house and hide a few items there but after being crossed over 15/20 times or so the step becomes loose and may "squeak"(1 in 4 times) when walked on thus giving away a hiding spot. And also inside walls, I'm not 100% on this one but perhaps if you could search walls closely and find weak spots(maybe even these spots could be randomly generated and players have to find them) and you can smash them with a crowbar or something to reveal a stash spot. Something else also that is a pwn idea is mystery(by mystery i mean randomly generated) basements and attics in residential houses etc(uber difficult to make im sure) and you could find entrances to basements under rugs and or a note found in a draw that was left for a person months ago. Perhaps attics have a man hole in a roof somewhere im not to sure I should stop there my mind is racing i could rave on for weeks about this stuff :lol:

And another sub topic I dont mean to get off topic but how about box of matches have a random amount inside each time you get a box every 5-6 you light 1 could break due you being a cold scaredy cat with bitch fingers -
Hmmm.. I don't really like the idea much of zumbies carrying my things, not that I thinks its a completely bad idea, just a bit to over the top for me. I'm thinking this kind of thing would be more applicable for an older character. Maybe you could do it when you reach a triple mega madcore veteran player status(buzz word(s) for char older than 30/40 dayz). That way if you seen the silhouette of someone with some zumbie gimps on a chain in the middle of a full moon night walking down a main st of a small shanty town when you are by yourself, you will remember that shit for life son... & you would turn white in RL. Other than that I'm gonna go ahead & put this thread down to a " walking dead ninja chick " fad of sorts :P

Trapping zombies O_o ? I would prefer to just see dead player models turning to zombies when they die.. and of cause keep whats in their back pack ..now that would be AWESOME.

Indeed it would be very cool if doors could be taken out but of cause only with reasonable realistic force. Shotgun rnd(s) in the right places could be ideal for an instant entry or an axe could take some time leaving the inhabitants time to decide on what course of action to take upon the invaders. Even being able to climb in & out of windows would be pretty wild. Imagine if you are inside your cozy house on the hill, scared shitless of the potential axe fucking murderer at your front door and all have got is a compass and beans. Quickly and quietly escape out a window on the otherside of the house ^_^ This idea would also reinforce the " nail doors/windows shut " and make it worthwhile to be implemented in the first place ! -
indeed this is true. i want both experiences aswell but defiantly more depth to the city(s) !

It also just enforces the idea of having keys for doors as well (it could be rare to find a key and perhaps its numbered 2 a house in the town)... i hope we eventually can use boards of wood to nail over windows and doors.. when inside but then you obviously have to remove them to get out thus leaving the house vulnerable to other players again.. unless.. you had a key in the first place ^_^ -

OH MAN, i searched on youtubes for your vids and you made one of the favorites i found about 3 weeks ago called " horror of green mountain " that was awesome fucking trailer !!!!! ive watched it like 20+ times or more.. the music was really good.. haha i cant beleive that was you, small world... & thanx again, yes filming at night is going to be hard i dare say ! i have to wait till winter so there isnt so many bugs, spiders and snakes.. i live in a tropical climate in Australia insects EVERYWHERE -

Thanx!, No this wont be ingame, I'm actually filming this in real life, It's not specifically dayZ related just a zombie short film. I have a makeup artist organized and some other friends to help aswell I mentioned above i had this exact idea about 18 months ago while i was still studying to do the film. I thought the idea would be to difficult to film in the dark with flare(s) but dayz made me want to do it after running around with flares in the middle of the night while playing the game. I still have a good chunk of storyboards left to complete, hopefully I'm able to film this in a few months time. ps.. how the hell do i make the pictures i post BIG and not thumbnails you have to click ? -

Ok ppl, got some of my storyboard pics working... these 1st 6 are to the introduction to the survival horror teaser I'm in pre-production of.. I basically came up with these idea well over a year ago.. a survivor stranded in the Australian wilderness in the middle of a night with a flare ...I actually scrapped the night idea with a flare being the only light source at first in favour of daytime story because I thought filming at night would cause hassles.. but after playing 400 hrs of dayz i love the idea of a night time scenario :D So anyone who knows anything about story boarding will know that you place arrow indicator markers for the character movement on the panels to illustrate a mud map of whats happening,, I've left these out untill I make the Animatic if anyone was confused ^_^ -
You SIR are once again.. full of poo ! ..I've played sports, (running and ball) all my life and unless you are on very soft ground you definitely need footwear !

Why make instanced or underground bases?

I dont much like the idea of craft-able underground bases.. HOWEVER ..i think the idea of randomly spawning underground bunkers etc is alot more of an acceptable idea.. and Im sure thats the way the devs will go.. random underground bunker(s).. Crafting underground base(s) sounds like so much bullshit work would be involved getting it developed to place in the game and creating it once you are in game ! Being able to even lock houses would be awesome if you found a random key in a town with the house number on it or even in a draw in a house.. ONCE AGAIN random and rare keys of course ^_^ -

lol at YOU SIR... Do you even play this game ? that makes no sense at all.. taking risks is half the game.. thats like saying lets not play dayz cause we could be killed by players instead of zombies ? anyways, I think its an excellent idea and I think about it often myself... it defs should be considered in my opinion.. I even think it would be awesome if the weather affected the interior temperature of house in sever cold circumstances. If windows were smashed (depending on how many of course) the house should need a fireplace to warm it up and if not, provided most of the windows are smashed, it should only provide a small bonus towards warmth(as in you get cold/sick alot faster but its still better than being outside)
