    Wow really? I never go to electro and been to prison island once but groups of guys traversing cherno looking to kill you was the one thing that made DayZ special and you guys are selling out. Quick better add cotton wool so you can wrap everyone up in too, guess that's in the next patch.

    They were right about Dean leaving, fuck.

    Catering to te people who want guns everywhere would be selling out actually.

    They are finally in a position to start living up to Dean's promises about the direction of the design.

  3. Loving the whole survival thing but I must say I am a little worried the metaphoric pendulum is going to swing to far to PvE. If bullets and weapons are going to be so rare that I can only kill one person a night this is going to become a very boring game. Please keep it balanced. Please

    Since when are bullets the only way to kill other players?


  4. Azzy, you can make a stone knife on a beach, as a first weapon, you can use that to do a lot of stuff, get a shovel and eat worms, or just find seeds and grow veggies with rain. There are loads of options. You can even make a fishing hook with bones from any animal.

    Let's not forget ashwood sticks and bows from that rock and an animal you either stalked to spear or ran off a cliff using cave man tactics with arrows made from the sticks that you can gather off of the forest floor and sharpen with the stone knife.

    Also: Elektro to Vybor in that manner is a VERY common run.

    Common runs will likely be picked clean on a server with any pop. You have to adapt and use other routes.

    The fact that he found a different server that had not been looted has no bearing on that servers state whatsoever.

    The man with the tools and know how has already explained this to you numerous times.


  6. I did and there was loot. Thats what makes me so frustrated, that people expect to run the same places all the time and have the game easy. I checked the logs at the time of the stream and everthing was fine than as it is now. Its just that areas you were looking at were looted at the time of the stream and now they are repopulated because the loot got shuffled.

    Only servers that had problem with loot spawning were multiplay ones (and it took 1hour after the patch hit to fix that). Rest of the changes we were rolling out were increases to survival items (small ones so that the system does not overflow)

    This is a frustration I have had as a player since 2012 when false ad exagerated reports were affecting R4Z0R's decisions regarding the mod.

    He likely did not have the tools that you do available to verify their validity.

    Keep up the good work and please let me know if I get out of line in responding to such claims as I do have a very small tolerance for it myself.


  7. I just connected to the server and it's all fixed. When I posted the IP, the last time I played it was maybe 10hours ago so it could have changed.. But whatever now it's fixed. Again it wasn't a question on "where to look" but clearly a bug with the item respawning

    Look at the time of my first response. It was during your protestations on its state.


  8. Yeah it's what I'm trying to say since the begining. But people here prefer to call you a noob because on the server they play they find items as easy as the previous patch..

    And thoses who say "You have to look in any place like toilets, deer stands, cars" clearly shows they only have few hours in the game and think they have better knowledge than you..

    To be 100% clear I went to the exact server IP YOU claimed had ZERO loot and gave my experience of what I found within the 1 minute 45 seconds I was on wherein I found food, clothing, melee weapons and books.

    The fact is YOU are exaggerating your claims of no loot when what you mean is you no longer find the loot you want on the route you are accustomed to following.


  9. Have you listening what i've said ? I have made all the map : big cities and small town/villages aswell from coast to inland and there was LITERALLY NO ITEMS. There was maybe a hat or a badly damaged pant for 50 houses.

    After some research it appears some servers are bugged mostly private servers have no items at all. Public servers seem a bit looting more but not at the right place as Eugene explained but private server are a disaster.

    I can give you some servers i've been so you can look by yourself what I'm talking about and see if you still like to play

    IP: 185.62.204.161 Port: 2402 This one I remember been completly bugged. Go play 1hour there and tell me how much items you've looted but I doubt you will do it. Criticize seems easier for you

    30 seconds in and I have a stun baton.

    1 min 25 seconds. 5-6 books, shovel, green pepper seeds, most of a map, several choices of boot, hat and mele weapon.

    Calling BS. Going to a server that doest have shite ping for me.

  10. Of course all streamers aren't as smart as you... What you say is very stupid. One guy went from Elektro to Vybor. And as you said sorry to say that but the guy crafted a stone knife, a wood arrow and was first searching for berries for about 20min. The only item he found was a small backpack and a knife. He died at Vybor by sickness because he had to eat cow meat uncooked otherwise he was dead of starvation.. Again a streamer with 3000hours of Dayz SA doesn't even know how to loot correctly nor finding path through the map as good as you Mr. Expert

    Sounds like he should have left the fast loot run path and used his 3000 hours to know where to go when things get scarce.

  11. I'd assume more would respawn since they aren't included in the calculation, see Eugen's explanation in the original post.

    this is my understanding as well.

    It's unfortunate that they aren't counted on the front end because this means over time servers are likely to become inundated with high end gear.


  12. I know guys have a plan to do that in the future. It just requires a bit more animation tech on player.

  13. Its working enough to go to stable, you can start the game, and play it. You can find items (anybody that says otherwise is making me really confused, since I played probably more than most players out there on public and private and havent had a single problem) Cutting animals can be done with stone knife (which can be crafted on any beach) and its enough to start a fire (only thing you need now is matches). Focus on figuring out how to adapt rather than to compare how it was before.

    Any chance we will be able to start fires without matches at some point? With less success rate or by eating up kindling perhaps?

  14. thats probably coming from someone playing on public or on third person servers. looting 8 entire towns in a row and finding 1 can of food is not a challenge, its atrocious gameplay.

    Hahaha, you think so eh? I play 1st person and I love the level of scarcity you just described because it makes the survivalist mechanisms worth utilizing.

    Stop acting like a scavenger and start surviving. There is a distinct difference.

  15. Greetings Survivors!

    As of the 0.55 Stable Branch update, persistence will no longer be an opt-in feature. Persistence is now moving into the active core features "zone". Private shard operators can request a reset of this through their GSP only in the case of any abhorrent behavior.

    What does this mean for you, the average survivor?

    As item cleanup and respawn is actively being worked on in order to function on a more comprehensive level - you will see DayZ gameplay become potentially significantly more difficult for 0.55.

    • Item Cleanup / Respawn will be iterated upon in 0.56
    • Loot concentration will evolve across the map as players scavenge and pick areas clean
    • If the area you are in seems to be picked clean, you -must- adventure further inland
    Again - the behaviors involving sharp declines in loot concentration will be iterated upon and resolved, but for 0.55 you will see the struggle to survive become much harsher.

    FINALLY!!! I take back most of the dirty bandit comments I've made over the last couple of years.


  16. The mod had crashed vehicles and "junk with garbage" barricades everywhere.

    The environment felt genuine,like there was indeed an apocalypse taking place.

    Frankly,does a possible engine performance hit,deter you from making substantial environmental changes?

    Does this mean that only limited work and only minor environmental "touches" can be achieved at this stage?

    We are discussing something like that level of junk but dynamically changing via player movement/death maps which is what he was saying would be a problematic change.

    Definitely a much more of an impact than the changes you are referring to.


  17. Yes, its a cool idea but I'm not sure if its technically feasible at the moment to do this dynamically. I would probably exclude the idea of doing it manually so that the paths and blood are permanent on the map. Its sort of artificial and won't adapt with changes in the way people play as more features are added.

    Understood. You would know better the capabilities of making those changes dynamic than I would.

    I definitely agree that static additions of this nature would not be desirable.

    Thanks again for the reply. I may run this by a friend on campus who has been developing a way to merge thermal and source imaging in real time. Maybe he would have some ideas.


  18. I've got an interesting question/concept for you Chris.

    Have you thought about utilizing the global heatmaps (or even local server heatmaps) to dynamically generate terrain alterations?

    To give an example: you could use the image to alter the terrain mask so that high traffic areas have player sign such as worn foot paths for natural terrain or dingy footpaths over concrete, etc.

    Alternately, the death location heatmap could be used to generate an additional clutter config where low level areas have a random skull or bone and high level areas have piles of them as well as blood streaks across the ground. This could be made to work on the same process as grass so that it only has a minor impact on server resources.

    These could be mixed so that say the blood streaks from the death map example actually go to the terrain color layer or the foot traffic determines placement of the trash clutter we currently see manually placed across Chernarus.

    Whatever the case, I always appreciate the work you and your team put in and await the art changes more than any other aspect due to the quality assets your team puts out.

  19. Well, I started playing but within about 8 minutes Battleye went titsup or something and I got kicked.

    What's the issue there, I imagine it's intrusive as fuck, so does it spar with the AV or something and that causes it's failure, or is it network issues?

    Yeah, it's been that way for ages. Just give the BE folder exemption and it will improve by leaps and bounds.

    Good to know. Such a fine line to walk with tools for policing servers that don't also open doors for major abuse.

    Will you have the ability to spawn/despawn things for the special events server for the Survivor Games?
