Can someone tell me how to update my game on steam?
cyanyde replied to postgresql's topic in General Discussion
Yup, restart will prompt the update. Can confirm. -
How many hours have you put in to DayZ SA?
cyanyde replied to tacticalbanana's topic in General Discussion
125 hours, according to Steam. -
Press Vest is my personal "Holy Grail" I've only had it once, and when I lost it, I was sad. Technically the rarest item in the game is the revolver. There are supposedly 2 of them that exist on the hive, but they don't currently spawn, despite being in the code of the game. Finally, Mosins are way more rare than the M4 atm, but that's understandable because it's such an amazing weapon. Other than that I've had no problems finding any of the loot.

Same thing happens in the mod. The game acts as if you're looking down the iron site, but there's no animation. Also, another little tip is that you can switch weapons while running, but only if you "lower" whatever is in your hands. As an example, if you're running with your compass out, and try to switch, you'll stop running and switch, but if you press space to "lower" it and *then* switch, you will keep running. I've saved myself from zombies soooo many times with this method. :)

Test group eh?How does one get involved in this? I've got years of experience with closed alpha/beta testing for games including Dystopia, Blade Symphony, Guncraft and Gunpoint. I was also one of the lead testers for nmrih until my son was born.. Shoot me a pm, if you're willing to give me a shot, Rocket. :)

Quick status update for week 8 November
cyanyde replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
That is exactly why people who actually want to test the early builds of the game have to wait for a "stable build" I've played plenty of alpha and betas of both mods and full release games. Rocket wants to make sure and cater to people with the exact same opinion as you, and to be perfectly honest, the alpha/beta stages are better off that way. Just sucks for people like me because we understand why these things happen and we're willing to push through it in order to help make the game better. -
Quick status update for week 8 November
cyanyde replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Pretty succinct explanation in the op, it's nice to see some communication, but in the long run, I'm just happy Rocket isn't letting the hype-train "derail" his dev cycle. When the game is playable and performs well, he will release it. I'm pretty damn happy with that, and I think bigger companies could learn a lesson or two from this. Choo-Choo motherfuckers! ;) -
Noo.. the best thing to happen to DayZ this patch is the ability to carry a rifle and a hatchet at the same time.. I just can't wait until the other melee weapons become more relevant! :) Edit: Best. Patch. Ever.

Wow.. I'm absolutely stunned with the progress this mod has made since Razor took over.. This update is the best one since version #312. :)

DayZ Alpha won't launch until launched !

Play the mod, stop letting yourself get hyped up over Standalone, and just forget about it until it gets released. I've given up on waiting for it, far as I'm concerned it's nothing more that vaporware until I actually have it in my Steam account. No sense getting hyped up about something that may not be released until next year for all we know. -
Not really a fan of the new patch so far. All the servers I played on seemed to be spawning as little loot as possible.. still haven't found a hatchet, but I managed to find a DMR in a firestation, as well as an m24.. but nothing else. Zombies knocking people down is an interesting idea, but poorly executed. Super zombies are more difficult, but more in an annoying way. Spawning in debug plains and then reconnecting is something that should have been fixed a long time ago. There's more, but I'm sure the average population already mentioned most of it.. I'll just play mods of DayZ until the inevitable 1.7.7.1 comes out in a day or two.

Zombies are terrifying.. even worse last night; was there a change since yesterday because they seem a little tamer today? I've not found a hatchet yet, but if I did, I would hesitate to pick it up because I'm scared to get knocked on my ass by Zombie Tyson. D: Anyway, I'll post some feedback when I get a chance to go over my notes, but it seems a hell of a lot harder to be a fresh spawn than it was a few days ago. This is good and bad, but whatever it is, it's definitely reminding me of what DayZ used to be, so that's a good thing for sure!

Actually they could easily release the patch on DZC.. they just want to release on Steam at the same time. I'm not sure how many of you actually use Steam to install, but I highly doubt it's really worth holding up the rest of us. Either way, I'm not worried about it.. I'll just play one of the 2321354 mods for this mod until it's ready. :P

Lol! I've been waiting all weekend to see how many people would be surprised when the update got pushed back.. What a shock. :P

Not to mention the whole inventory system is re-coded for standalone.. Fear not, your wishes shall be granted. As for the current bug.. if you're going to report bugs, at least try to read changelogs and other reports first.. usually they're already known issues.
