I was heading to the firestation north of Elektrozavodsk, when I notice 5 bodies around the buildings. Although it was suspicious I still entered the building, and found 5-8 more, I didn't want to stay and count. I went up the tower, and found 3-6 more, not sure how many but there were bodies. I reached the top, and no one was there, so I decided to check for loot on bodies (I saw some with some good weaponry still on). On about the second floor, I saw a pistol and a head pop up quickly, seeing me, and then immideatly ducking and going down. I tell him that I am friendly and he doesn't need to worry. So we stay at our floors, and have a nice chat, like me asking what weapons those dead guys had and if he knows anything about what happened. And then I get hit by what I think was a CZ550 in my hip, and fall unconscious. My new "friend" walks up to me with a revolver, points it at my face, and says "Sorry." He shot me. This just happened 15 minutes before posting this. I think he was using the chat we had as a distraction so I could get sniped.

A short story of betrayal I want to share
khaenz replied to khaenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually had spent quite a long time on that one life, and helped 3 people. I spawned in Komarovo and survived 2 bandit encounters, one where I killed the bandit and one where I was outnumbered but escaped. I had ran all the way from Komarovo to Elektro, where I decided I was ready to go north. I had everything prepared, a good backpack (I think it was a Brittish Assault Pack or something), I had found a bike, I had a M14 with no ammo, and I was using a crossbow temporarily to take care of zombies. I think I spent around one and a half hour on that one life with a damn good start. -
A short story of betrayal I want to share
khaenz replied to khaenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Although bandit life seems to be easy, for me it would just be boring. There would be no fear of betrayal, no friendships, no comrades or trading. It would be simply kill everyone, and ruin the fun for everyone, while you will mostly be perfectly safe from friendlies. Also, bandits are mostly assholes, which is the problem with most bandits today. Most bandits today just kill people to piss them off or just for the thrill of it, but they should actually just kill for stuff they NEED. Like, lets say food, a car or something. -
I dont know if this has been suggested before, but its something I would love to see in the standalone. Basically Helis and Planes crash while the server is running. As time passes, helicopters and planes crash randomly on the map, mostly on fields and open areas in cities (Because the pilot would try to land it safely). The helicopter/plane will spawn, and fly 1 minute with something smoking/burning in it, and there will be a radio transmission that all players with radios can hear. The radio transmissions would be pilots asking for help, and reporting their coordinates. After 1 minute, the plane/heli will crash, resulting in a slide, it burning and the pilots being dead. This will attract zombies, and zombies will spawn either in the city if the heli/plane crashes there, or come from the forest, if the heli/plane crashes on a field. Players can go and loot the heli/chopper, but quickly before the zombies get there. If its too late, the players will have to eliminate the zombies. The helis will often have quite valuable gear, such as medical supplies, maybe some sort of document about the zombie virus so that you can learn the story a bit, and if its a military helicopter, good military gear. Players would have to risk their items and lives to get these, because of other players wanting the gear and the high amount of zombies, but the gear is worth it This would give the radio a purpose in DayZ. Basically, the heli and plane crashes will happen occasionally, it will get reported on radio, players have to find the coordinate on the map/gps, and then hope there are no other players/low amount of zombies near the heli/plane. Oh, and a nice way to stop the frustration most players get when they realize a heli/plane crash site has been looted, is to end the fire when the heli/plane has been looted. This will help players know if a heli/plane crash site has been looted or not. So, when all the valuable items has been taken from the crash site, it will stop burning, and there will just be the wreckage of the plane or heli.

So what is your DayZ Flavor? Vanilla, 2017 or DayZ+
khaenz replied to hempyhustle's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, I liked 2017 the most, gave me the best playing experience ive had, but its a bit too short... basically we met with a guy on the shore, and had some very nice combat situations with zombies together, and then we went north, where he got killed by an enfield, but we escaped and survived. Then we find a car in the middle of a road, out of fuel. We refuel it, and find another car, and proceed north. Since we had all weapons that are available in the mod and so on, we decided to call it Endgame, and stopped playing. But up there is a summary of our adventure, with a lot of small firefights and such left out. 2017 is amazing, just too short. It seems to remove more than it adds. -
Here, let's all describe DayZ in one word

Zombieapocalypseandmoderncombatsimulator 2013? -
What song reminds you of DayZ, and are there any quotes that really stick out?
khaenz replied to unkillable94's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Doors - The End, or when it's night in DayZ and you found a vehicle, but don't have night vision goggles so you have to use the carlights, The Doors - Riders on the Storm. -
Do you think that REAL reload animations would be important for the Standalone?
khaenz replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, I'd love to see this. Some actual reloading would also be nice, because when you have an LMG, it can take like 5-10 seconds to reload in real life, whereas in DayZ and ArmA 2, it's as fast as 1 second, where you throw away the ammo box and smash a new one in. -
M107 Barrett .50 cal getting banned everywhere..
khaenz replied to SteamyBeans's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In a zombie apocalypse, in a place like Chernarus, you would most likely not find a high-calibre anti-materiel sniper rifle. It just sounds so stupid considering that it should have Russian weapons, and suddenly you have something like an AS-50. Those rifles ruin the fun by being incredibly overpowered for bandits, and sort of ruin the immersion because you would not find it in a poor country like Chernarus. If you found something like a KSVK it would make more sense, and that way you would have a way to fight helis. -
You spend 80% of your time walking in DayZ, and in one life you will walk approximately... I think it's about 50km. In ArmA 2 it's only like a 300-500 meter run in case you are like, doing the co-op sniper mission, and then a 1km run back to the extraction point. Besides, ArmA 2 is a great game. I love messing around in the sandbox mode with my friends (Armory) and sabotaging everything for BLUFOR and OPFOR in Wasteland. I'd say you should just forget the whole thing if you don't like ArmA 2 in the first place, because DayZ is basically a stripped down version of ArmA 2 with survival elements and zombies.

This. There would often be bandits making a roadblock there, which could give you a challenge trying to get over to the other side, Where you could either try to sneak past them, hiding behind the wrecked cars and trucks, or fight the bandits. There would be quite a lot of firefights too, because many bandits probably want to establish a roadblock there. This could make this place very interesting.

My best moment was for 2 hours ago, when I was playing the new Thirsk map. I met some guys in Thirsk, and we threw a party in a church. 5 more guys joined, seeing the smoke and road flares, and then we decided to go to the airfield. We did syncrhonized swimming, a 10-man church party and all died in the airfield.

Have you ever been held up?
khaenz replied to bad_mojo (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Once I did, but I couldn't understand his words though. He was a hero, they were a group of 5 heroes. I thought I got a ride, so they shot me when they though I was trying to steal their car. I don't know why people just won't get proper mics or learn to speak clearly, no ones gonna understand you that way. -
Best all round gun on the game
khaenz replied to richjones19772000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Personally i'd say M16A2 with M203. The M203 allows you to create smokescreens, which helps quite a lot and you can also distract zombies with it. It can fire high-explosives, which gives you a huge advantage if the enemy is in cover (Shoot it behind the enemy) The range is quite good, you can accurately hit a target at long range (Approx 350m) and STANAG rounds are easy to find. Sights aren't the best, but the rest compensates for it. -
Winning fights where you have big disadvantages.
khaenz posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Tell your stories about how you have won a firefight where you have big disadvantages such as, for example, not knowing the enemy location, being outnumbered or simply having a bad weapon. I'll start with mine. Me and my friend were driving down near Polana, when our car broke down. We were near an industrial area, so we decided to loot it and hope there was a wheel. My friend saw a fuel tank or whatever it is called, and decided to refuel while we are at it. After refueling 1 time though, I heard some small gunshots, sounded like a makarov or M1911. I knew we were both heroes, so if they were bandits that tried to kill us, pistols wouldn't do much. My friend went and tried to talk to them, when POW, comes a Lee Enfield shot. I ask him if he is OK, and he says one of the bastards killed him. The admin of the server decided to help us in combat by taking his chopper and giving me recon by simply flying around and trying to spot them. He couldn't find them, and decided to go help some bambis instead. Later I hear bullets flying by from a silenced weapon, they looted my friend. I ran into a pine, and they stopped firing. I started moving near to where he died, near our car, when I see some guy with a makarov checking out our car. Of course, I headshot him with my G17 (I didn't have a primary, stored most things in the car). and look if it is safe, and move forward. I started moving to my friends body, which was behind a wall. Im just at the end of the wall, where I can go to the otherside, when I see a lee enfield pointing from the other side. Seeing this as a perfect moment to damage him, I shot his visible hand, and he ran away. I pursued him, and found him trying to bandage himself behind the wall. He probably thought it was a long range shot. I finished him off with 3 shots to the chest, and looted their bodies. I later re-united with my friend at the factory, and then we notice the 2 guys I killed say in side chat "f*k u dollon". So yeah, that's my story. I had only a pistol, against their rifles (The guy with a makarov took my friends PP-19, he didnt use it though for some reason) and they outnumbered me, and even got the first shots. -
In my opinion, DayZ should let us have a starting background, which determines where we spawn, what we spawn with and also how much blood, humanity, hunger, thirst you would spawn with. It would work like this: when you are at spawning screen, you can choose a gender, but then some questions will be asked after that, such as "Did you live in a city, town, village or in the wilderness before the apocalypse?" and "What was your job before the apocalypse?" After answering those, you have a chance to spawn in random areas in the wilderness, any of the 3 cities (Berezino, Cherno and Electro) or towns, villages etc. And depending on your job, you will start with a kit. Like a police kit, where you have a high chance to start with weapons, or a hobo kit for the hardcore players and so on. Now to make it balanced, there would be a chance to either spawn with low blood, bleeding (So that you have to quickly run to find bandages) or critical hunger/thirst. Each job would have different chances of this happening, such as a military job would have a high chance to spawn you bleeding and at 4000 blood, but you could spawn with an assault rifle such as an AK-74. Whereas a job as a lumberjack would have a chance to spawn with a hatchet and also have a high chance of being healthy. There's also one choice called "Surprise me." where you have random everything. Oh, and this should optional for servers. Good idea or not?

I'd like this if it was a log-off mechanic, like if you log off you go to sleep, and you are suspectible to bandits and so on. To prevent getting too cold, you could sleep indoors or in camping tents. This would prevent combat loggers, and make DayZ much more interesting. While being asleep/logged-off you would slowly regenerate your blood at a rate of 1 per second, a.k.a in one hour, you would have 3600 blood back. This would also make bases more useful, because they are these safe places you can sleep in without getting found.
