Why i am still scared of green mountain
khaenz replied to Einstein (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Not really some creepy ghost man but still a ghost experience. A ghost police car and a ghost bike appeared there. Me and my friend had made a campfire outside of it, when we heard a DMR shot from there. We went to investigate, nothing. Then suddenly a damn police car comes with its sirens on, drives into a wall and dissapears, me and my friend, still thinking the DMR is here somewhere, kept searching, when my friend screams "HOLY SHIT WHAT" and we see a ghost bike ride into Green Mountain, No driver, only a bike going around us and ringing. We were creeped out and ran. Suddenly a military offroad full of someones supplies and a tractor appeared in front of us. I put holy books in both (I had 3, I liked collecting them) and the ghost dissapears. (Yes it just turned off the vehicle and the we could get in). Lesson: Always have a holy book with you. This is a true story. And happened last week at Saturday. Oh also, one thing I forgot to say about the ghost police car: It stopped halfway, and a guy with soldier clothing and an M9 jumped out. We shot at him a lot, nothing happened. He stared at the swede in my group, and shot him 3 times near the head (2 hit the chest) and then drove away. -
I didn't mean that others think you're similar to the meme, it's just the profile picture that is Dolan, lol. They only find you similar to the guy with the profile picture due to the english :P

I don't know about any radio tower up north, but if you are talking about Green Mountain, which is to the West actually, it's not a good spot. Survivors that are uninformed about the camp might come and attack out of fear (There are vehicle spawns so people go there) and there are quite a lot of zombie spawns, which can often get in the way. But if there was a way to efficiently be able to get rid of the zombies (The only way I can think of is having a guy run around with a hatchet, which means one less guard) then it would be a very good area, since it's close to the town of Zelenogorsk, relatively close to the coast and the norh areas and is quite easy to defend in DayZ.

It's sort of a joke I believe because of your english being somewhat similar to his translations. You shouldn't feel too worried about this, your english is actually very easy to understand even though you have a lot of grammar and spelling errors. Also that duck-face profile picture is actually dolan, a finnish meme (That has now gained popularity all over the internet) about a psychopathic rapist version of Doland Duck. Just thought I'd mention that.

And that has something to do with anything here in what way?

I'd want the weapon spawns to make sense, so for different areas there should be different weapon spawns. In civilian areas you could find a rare SMG or WW2 bolt action rifle (And very rarely, with a scope on it) that could be from a WW2 veteran of the war or something. Like a mosin-nagant with a very rare chance of finding a PU scope readily attached to it, or a PPSH-41. Kar98k would also be able to find, a bit rarer but some players might prefer it. It would be shorter and have different sights. Common rifles would be stuff like the Ruger 10/22 that they confirmed and showed the model for. Other hunting rifles like the CZ550 could be included, and would be hard to aim unless you would find a scope for them. Shotguns should be very common compared to other guns. I would love to have lots of fights where you would see pellets flying, or people cooperating to try to take down a guy with a rifle, while they are using slugs. This would also force people to get up close and personal to kill someone they spotted. For military loot, they should only add weapons used by the Chernarussian Defence Force in military loot spawns like military camps and barracks. These include AK74, AKS-74u, PKM, SVD and RPK (Although the SVD rarely with a scope). They could hide inside forests these "Chedaki" camps (The chedaki or CHKDz are terrorists in ArmA 2's story, and it would be nice to see them make another appearance) that would spawn stolen weapons, like slightly worn out AKMs, AK47s, very worn down PKMs, RPKs and SVDs. For western weapons, they should only be found inside helicopter crashes and small militiary camps (They could fit into the story as foreign help that didn't work). You could have a german camp at the Skalka area, which would spawn G36 variants, and an American camp at Pobeda dam + a British camp near devil's castle that could spawn AR-15 variants, L85 and L86 etc. and then last maybe a Finnish camp at Utes that spawns RK65/RK95s, which I would love to see in the game. Of course, military weapons would be very rare to find since the military personnel probably packed up almost everything they had and left when they got overrun. They became either survivors in Chernarus, or fled back to either Takistan/Russia or other parts of Chernarus other than South Zagoria (Which is the part DayZ is based in) This would balance the game and still have a storyline that makes sense.

I got hit by karma in Overwatch...
khaenz replied to m_mitchell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Whenever I keep my dew bad shit happens to me. Didn't drink a dew in Oring? HUMVEE BLOWS UP. Didn't drink a dew I found in mogilevka? RANDOMLY DIE WHILE LEAVING THE TOWN! (No shots, nothing. My friend checked around, no snipers, no explanation) Didn't drink my first dew that I found in Stary? SOMEONE DECIDES TO FRAG THE SUPERMARKET! Didn't drink a dew in Zelenogorsk? A HELI COMES AND SHOOTS ME, AND HITS ME SOMEHOW! -
i find one DMR, what im doing next???
khaenz replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess what he means is with his bandit code is combat method. If he engages someone up close and personal (So they have a fighting chance) or if he wants to be a long-range sniping asshole etc. Shooting heroes isn't really dishonorable if the heroes have lots of gear, as around 70% of them are false. The last 8 heroes I've met were dumbass bandits who thought their hero skin would prevent me from firing at them if they fired at me. I can agree about the survivor skin thing though, I'm not saying its reccomended to use it unless you want more challenge to banditry (If it's too easy and boring, you can betray people in more creative ways, like slowly hinting it until your "partner" starts suspecting it, and then burst out an epic firefight). -
I suggested it to him, it was his first time getting his hands on a DMR. According to what I have read from his posts, he actually bandits in close quarters and stays away from the sniper rifles, but he got his hands on a DMR now, so I suggested him to test it out near highly populated areas. Just so he can try the life of a unhonorable bandit. It's not that bad really, I'd say its the players own fault if they go to Stary or NWAF and get killed. It's obvious it's a highly populated place and if you go there you're just looking for trouble. Although snipers in Cherno and Elektro... that's the lamest shit ever. So you find it fun to randomly shoot unarmed people in Elektro? I can understand Stary and NWAF (As long as you aren't a combat logging dumbass who immideatly ALT+F4s when a 7.62 shot passes his head) but what the hell is fun with shooting someone who barely gets off the coast when it doesn't benefit you?

banditing ways of epicoscity
khaenz replied to kingofcrafting4's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The making him think its a glitch part doesn't really work, you can hear a loud crack sound if a bullet passes you or hits you. 9mm weapons have sort of a low chance to break legs, so unless you have an M4A1 CCO SD, it isn't gonna break his leg usually, and even if you do have an M4A1, it might not break his leg. You would sort of just have to shoot him in the chest with a Lee Enfield or a M14 AIM/DMR/FN FAL to make him pass out, and take his stuff, and run away as an easier method. -
Me and my friend were trying out Thirsk, and went to the only city on the map, Thirsk. We met 15 guys who were all friendly, and teamed up and went to the airfield. 9 of us, including me, died from zombies and accidental grenade throws. I once killed 3 bandits after we drove into an actual roadblock in DayZ with our GAZ. My friend died, I jumped out and hid in some pines, and carefully took them all out using my G17. This one happened recently, some guy called liam tried to trick others by saying he died by a stupid glitch in Elektro school, was done with the game and told them he had lots of loot in sidechat. Me and my friend went to investigate, ran around the school roof like 9 times until we spotted a ghillie on the hospital roof (Took a very long time for me too see him, I guess my sight is bad). and shot full-auto AK at him. "liam was killed". What happened after that is my friend accindetally fell off the roof and died, me still on low blood. I see a hero run into the convenience store, and try to contact him through both direct and side chat, informing him of my location and that I need help. He just continued looting and ignored me, and he came up on the roof, with his back faced towards me, having not noticed me still (Wat). He went to the other side and scouted, I went behind him and said "Hey, I need a BT". He shot full-auto AK at me and I did the same. We both died, I respawned in Elektro, and he had everything. Rangefinders, NVGs, DMR etc. The most epic story I have ever had: There was an elektro sniper who had headshotted me while I was looting the elektro school on a 6 player server (Yes. I know. Wow.). I respawned in KRUTOY CAP. I decided to go to Tulga and loot the very low value residential in the very, very small hope I would find a weapon. I looted, found 2rnd pellets in Tulga, and took it. I continued and looted a very small residential shed with around 2 loot spawns. A DOUBLE BARRELED SHOTGUN. I got infected by zombies trying to get it, but I did not give up. I continued to the Elektro sniper hill, and checked. I was about to give up when I see a ghillie suited guy sitting, looking at Elektro. I panicked and shot him while sort of far away. I hit him just enough to kill him with the 2 pellet rounds. (Would one have missed, he would have rolled away and patched himself up). He later somehow came back after like 3 minutes, with a bandit skin, and took my DMR without me noticing, but did not want to kill me, only know my username. He told me his name and I got scared. A lot. I kept running with him stalking me, until I noticed my DMR was gone, so I took care of him with the M4A3 CCO I had gotten from his previous elektro camping life.

I'm actually planning on doing this with my group and 3 of my friends. Not really a town but a trading and teaming up area, maybe at the Kopyto dam or near Pik Kozlova. Kumyrna, the burnt down town south of Guglovo seems good too. But the best place would probably be the small hill west of Ozerko lake. Love that place.

I say remorse is very good to have, its what keeps you from being a asshole who kills for no reason. You should always have remorse when killing someone, except for a bandit, since you just ruined his in-game life (He has to respawn, spend 1-2 hours to find the basic stuff, and then if he had more crap on him, he will have to spend more hours on finding it, maybe days). If you had a DB Shotgun, you should have immideatly retreated after taking a shot. The gun doesn't do too much damage, and has a very slow firerate, so it's best to do hit-and-run attacks with it. About being a better bandit, it's always good to make a friend as a bandit (Unless you already have a friend to play DayZ with). You can trick other survivors by saying you're friendly and then backstabbing them, but this is sort of an unhonorable banditing method. For more advanced bandits, you can always stalk someone if he doesn't have anything on him that you need. You can see this by identifying what tier his backpack is at and weapon. If he has a hatchet/makarov and a bad backpack, he probably doesn't have anything for you. With this method you can let him "loot for you" until he has enough stuff that you're ready to kill him for. Robbing people might also be a good idea, you tell them to drop everything they have and take what you need, they can have the stuff they don't need back, and you might encounter them again, to get their new stuff. Basically you'll risk being a bit more in danger with more geared players, but you'll get more gear yourself.

So what do you think DayZ should be defined as?
khaenz posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I am seeing a lot of "bandits" (Actually just people who are dicks who kill other people for no reason, for example sniping in Chernogorsk) complaining about all the people complaining about there being too many bandits (Complainception... ok that was a bad joke) One of them seemed to think that DayZ is a game about "shooting people and then getting rid of the aggroed zombies" just because ArmA 2 is a game about shooting people. (This isn't really true, ArmA 2 is more about winning the fight, which can be done without shooting everyone). Basically that guy thought that DayZ was basically a shooter with zombies in it. I don't think that's correct. DayZ is a zombie apocalypse simulator in my opinion. I think banditry should be about getting someones gear so you have a bigger advantage and progress further in the game. Not sniping people for "fun" (If you want to do that shit then play wasteland or something, this sort of crap doesn't really belong in DayZ). I'm sort of okay with people actually engaging other players in firefights for no reason, since that brings challenge and fun in the game. Not sniping. I just want to check on everyone's opinion on this. What is DayZ? -
The black guy always dies first in zombie apocalypses.

This happened like 3 weeks ago, I do not remember the details but we somehow found out he was dead. I thought it was through deathmessage -
Remember, he said Tomorrow.

khaenz replied to khaenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, the machine gun is also quite a dick move, but since it's so uncommon I didn't really think of that. But what I am saying, is that if you are using some sort of weapon and hunt players with it when you have a very big advantage, screw you. -
Oh god...

Anyone interested in going back to 1.7.6.1?
khaenz replied to Writhe (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, the infection isn't really that much of a problem for me anymore, I learned how to avoid them and identify the viral zombies that have like 5 times higher chance of giving infection. You ever wonder why no one is really complaining about the infection as much as they did when the update first came out? That's why. People learnt how to deal with it. Just avoid viral zombies, don't let yourself get hit, and you'll be fine. -

I've been able to use ALT+F4 many times when I was too lazy to wait for the "Wait 30 seconds before BLA BLA BLA" and also when I'm done messing around in vanilla ArmA 2. You just need to hit ESC and then press ALT+F4. It only works when you have the pause menu up.

I agree with you, it would be really nice if they would add lots of more items (So that finding "that specific item" will be harder), so that you will have to rely on trading or stalking to get the proper stuff. If you kill someone in a city, you will never get supplies or never find out that he had a item you needed hidden away in a base. You can stalk him to the base but then you would have to fight him, which is why trading might be a better alternative. Not only would this help in reducing how common killing on sight is, but it would make the game a lot more interesting. Bandits can stalk a target to their base, where they can kill the owner and loot the base, and people could make trades with each other (By asking if they have, say a soldier uniform, and offering a selection of weapons they don't need for it, and then they do a trade quickly by going back to the base, getting the stuff, and making the trade). Vehicles should be much more common to make sure trading times don't take too long. -
i find one DMR, what im doing next???
khaenz replied to wild_man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Welcome to the world of dishonorable sniper bandits. The DMR is the most overpowered weapon in the game currently, having incredibly low recoil, a ridiculously high magazine count for a sniper rifle, and a firerate so fast that it will fire at the same rate that you click. It's up to you to decide what to do with it, if you want to be a bandit with honour, its probably not a good idea to use it too much. You could keep it as a special purpose weapon (Sniperfights, if theres someone you cannot engage at closer range etc.). But once again, it's up to you. I just find it in my own opinion ridiculously overpowered, and thats why me and my squad only have one guy equipped with it if we find it. You could take it out for a test in populated places like Stary Sobor and Northwest Airfield, that's where it has the biggest advantage while at the same time theres a lot of players. -
"Say Hello to Morgan Freeman!" "I will." Just awesome.

I've found lots of tents too, but they weren't filled with stuff. They usually had like 1 antibiotics, 2 assault rifles (Usually AK74s or M4 variants) and some of them were near empty.
