When you're in the process of setting up a server, you don't get to experience how it plays. Since the server is now open to the public, I've finally gotten to play and the most amazing thing is the zombie spawner mod. Two important buildings, the police station and the clinic, both spawn zombies INSIDE of the building! Also, the zombie spawns outside are unpredictable and really makes navigating in the dark dangerous. I wasn't a big fan of the zombie spawn mod the first time I tried it many months ago, as it wasn't really tweaked very well, but the author has made it perfect. It gives a great zombie experience. I'm having a blast!

Interesting read... now can we go back to using the real names?

I'm talking about the client command line. The mods are automatically created. I have no control over the command line because I am using the two available launchers.

I recently put up a new server. I've run servers in the past. Myself and others are frequently getting "Unknown error" when trying to connect to the server. Rcon never shows the player even trying to connect. I had thought perhaps it has to do with the command line. On the client, the entire path is put before the mod in the -mod part of the command line. For example:
-mod=D:\Steam\steamapps\common\DayZ\!dzsal\@CJ187-Fridges
This makes the command line quite long for a client when joining the server because of all of the mods. What I've noticed is that in my client log, the command line is getting "corrupted". Here's an example: https://pastebin.com/5CSgrvDC
Does anyone have a solution to this? I've started removing mods that I feel are not vital to the server in an attempt to shorten the command line, thinking that might fix it but still no good. I've verified the dayz client files too. Before I remove each mod and try again, I'd like to know if anyone can help out with this.

Lost on Deer Isle | Zombie Hordes | PVP Zones | KillinZedz
The Lost on Deer Isle server is now online! The server is heavily modified in a manner to make it a real experience and not just another high loot COD-esque sandbox. The server has some great mods that increases the apocalyptic atmosphere. Our zombie mods include the PVZ customizable zombie mod, which alters the behavior of the zombies to include a mix of walking and running zombies and the most dangerous zombies of all - priest zombies. The Dark Horde zombie mod creates a wandering horde on the map that is a real challenge to destroy. The PSR2 New Zombies Pack adds mutated zombies and they will spawn in the radiation zones with a small chance of appearing in cities.
PVP Zones are active around the map. Outside of the zones, players are unable to kill or hurt each other. The zones are marked on the map that you can open with the M key. The map doesn't show your location or allow for 3D markers.
Radiation Zones. There are three locations with radiation, which are marked on the map. You must be in full NBC gear to survive these areas!
Base Building Plus. Build a kick-ass base with Base Building Plus. Also, bases can only be broken into with a sledgehammer due to settings in BBP and the Tweak Raid Tools mod. Many survival mods are used as well, including rags only from pristine clothes, less meat from animals and the medical attention mod. You need to be careful and ensure you have proper medical supplies so you don't die from diseases or sustain an injury that slows you down.
On our Discord server, we have a channel with links to all of our mods so that you can easily read about how they all work. I highly recommend you join us on Discord at http://discord.me/killinzedz. Search for KillinZedz or "Lost on Deer Isle" in the server browser to find us! The IP/port is 149.56.28.85:2502.

The issue with the ping kick is that it kicks immediately upon detection. I've had players here in the states that got kicked because their ping momentarily went high. I had to disable high ping kick. Good thing I can block out specific countries and VPN users on my server.

That can't be right, can it?
Verify the files.

Avoid the Chinese hackers and come check us out!

Experimental was updated a half an hour ago and no update in this topic.

If the rumors about China's monitoring the internet is true, you can supposedly say things that will get the Chinese player in trouble, if you're close enough for him to see your local chat. Supposedly discussing Thailand and Tiananmen Square are prohibited, so if this happens again, type "I love Thailand" or "Tianamen Square murders" and, if the rumors are true, the cheaters might actually disconnect very quickly.

You should totally buy SCUM. It's only $20 on Humble Bundle.

35 minutes ago, Max Planck said:'commie scum', 'red menace' and the like, as well as claiming 99,9% of all chinese people are cheaters, is racist as all hell and has no place here.
I don't think he's claiming 99.9% of Chinese people are cheaters. I think he's stating that the majority of players using cheats in DayZ right now are from China. There's nothing racist about it if it's true and accurate.
BI should just add a ping limit to all of it's official servers. That will solve the problem to some extent, at least on US servers.

Just search for "Uncle Zed".

The one in my signature. The server is in New York.

How so? It's got more survival elements than DayZ.

I've literally been looking through the DZSA launcher for 3 days now trying to find servers that will offer a close to Vanilla experience and so far I'm having a lot of trouble finding one. Either they are 1pp only or they have super unrealistic mods like unlimited stamina, no damage to clothing or boots, no poisining, insane loot spawns, no night time, and on and on. So basically we either have to keep playing with hackers or we have to choose private servers that will not give us the Vanilla experience we want. Thanks a fucking lot Bohemia!
You could try my server but if you're looking for a high population, you won't find it. It's a small community server.

The only response from BI so far: "Anti Hack measures *do* work. But they dont act instantly and there are good reasons for that. Best to play on live admin servers until the next banwave."
The good news is SCUM is only $20 and is a much more developed sandbox survival game than DayZ.

Using DZSALauncher helps because you can see what servers have no mods. You can also look at the forums: https://forums.dayz.com/forum/169-server-advertisement/ or the DayZ discord #communities_pc channel.

But @McWendy, It's soooo hard to find your friends without maps and markers and flying unicorns that bring you anywhere you want!!!!

It's the old "chicken and the egg" conundrum. No one wants to play on the 3PP community Vanilla server because no one is playing.... if no one is playing, there won't be anyone on the server...

5 hours ago, Hempfield said:Btw, what about your server (which I don't see is much populated for most of the time) when you're not online and cheaters from other regions join? They're still gonna cheat, the little players that you have are still gonna get pissed off and probably leave sooner or later. You feel good having to have to run a server just for it to be empty most of the time?
The server mainly exists for me and my small community to play on. I'm not out to make it a heavily populated server. It's located in the US so players from Russian and China don't need to be playing on it with their high pings anyway.
Connecting failed, An unknown error has occured
in Troubleshooting
Posted · Edited by Uncle Zed
I've been running DayZ servers off and on for a while. I have a new server I just recently put online. Another player and I are having an issue. If I use DZSALauncher, most of the time, I can't connect to the server and I get an error that says "Connecting failed" "An unknown error has occured", which is displayed on the main menu of DayZ. I always know when I'm going to get this because the loading bar at the bottom of the loading screen loads all the way. When I'm going to connect, this bar never makes it all the way across and instead I get the notification that I'm spawning in "in X seconds".
I uninstalled DZSALauncher and reinstalled it and I got in the first time, but a couple hours later, no luck. Most of the time I'm getting in with the regular launcher without any issues. The other player can't get in with either. The rcon program doesn't show us connecting when this happens, which tells me that the server isn't rejecting the connection, but instead we're simply not able to reach the server when we get this error.
Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?
