Yes, I use it all the time but be aware it does not show which friend is playing on which server. Best way is to open your Steam friends list while the game is open, choose friend and use the "join game" option.

You can find the last server that you joined by going into My Documents/DayZ/ "your name" DayZPROFILE. Scroll down until you find these two lines (nearly all the way down)... lastMPServer= "ip address"; lastMPServerName="DayZ "server name" Not what you are asking for but may help.

Your thread was not "deleted". To find your content the simplest method is to go to your Profile and check the My Content tab. I advise you to use the Search tool in future and read the Rules; if you do not understand the rules their are some Guidelines that may help you.
