I've managed to get out 3 times (tall apartment buildings) + once a Z glitched through the wall and did the job (thank you buggy Z). If you move near the lift shaft you can sometimes get the climb up arrow but I've never been able to hit the button at the right time. If not, read a book, if you don't have one in your bag then you ain't doing it right !
