Close Steam. Delete the 3 config files in My Docs/DayZ "name" + Restart Steam, new config files should be generated. Then (generated or not) validate game cache. Quit game. Quit Steam. Start Steam. Start game. Set your config, video/key binds and character (do not change name). Quit game. Quit Steam. Start Steam. Start game. Check that your setting have held, (if not repeat + above). Myself I appreciate Guides that are clear and informative but some members have that down to a fine art. I'm afraid with a ping of 1000 you are not going to have much luck. Even if a Server has no ping limit you will time out more often than not. 300 is about the minimum max, set your ping limit to that in the filters and see if you can capture any servers.

You can bind a key to fast forward, this will give you sprint. Evasive left & right will allow you to roll left/right when prone, I have bound Evasive and Lean L/R to the same key (mouse wheel tilt button), ArmA/DayZ is one of the few programs that allows multiple binds using the same key without conflict. Controls will be refined in the future to eliminate some inherited from previous ArmA2.

Yes, I use it all the time but be aware it does not show which friend is playing on which server. Best way is to open your Steam friends list while the game is open, choose friend and use the "join game" option.
